Hi.
Lol why am I even writing this bold text, let's get started.
Mikoto and Kuroko were walking back to the hospital after chasing what appears to be a mysterious person with a mask.
"Onee-Sama, I almost had him. You didn't have to interfere with our business, you are only a citizen after all." Kuroko said, giving her friend a stern look. She stretched her arms into the sky and sighed. "I think he had something to do with the level upper."
"Hey, you know full well that he would have gotten away no matter how hard we tried. In fact, I could almost tell he was holding back."
"Onee-Sama, that's preposterous! How could someone have the ability to get away from you, and be holding back at the same time?!"
"I dunno…" Of all things… Why did he have to have his power anyway? I know he is in his remedial classes, so it can't be him. Mikoto gritted her teeth and clenched her fist in anger, but immediately took a deep breath to calm herself. "Well, let's put a pin on that. Let's visit the doctor to see the exact results."
"Agreed."
Some time has passed and Mikoto and Kuroko are in the Judgement branch room.
"We finally have the brainwave patterns." Mikoto said with eagerness. Kuroko was sitting down with a laptop in front of her while Mikoto was leaning on the desk next to Kuroko.
"It's my job to tell you what's going on, it's your job to find out who is responsible." The doctor's words echoed.
"If Uiharu was here, we would be able to find this unique pattern in the data banks and find who is responsible for creating this network." Kuroko leaned backwards in her chair with despair. "But she isn't here!"
"Damn. Were so close… I'll call her." Mikoto said, using her Gekota phone. After waiting a while, it seems like she wasn't going to answer. Mikoto forcibly ended the call, closing her eyes in defeat. "I guess we are going to have to wait for her then…".
But miraculously for the two Tokiwadai students, Emilia and Mii came just around the corner. "What's the fuss over here?" Mii asked, arms crossed. Emilia was behind her, and she was wearing a pair of headphones connected to a music player.
"Emilia! Why are you using the level upper?!" Mikoto and Kuroko shouted at the same time.
Emilia took off one of the earphones. "It's only music, relax." She proceeded to sit down on the comfy couch and continue listening to music.
The 3 took a moment to be stunned by Emilia's abnormal laziness. "We need access to the databanks, it will help us find the developer of the level upper." Kuroko said, getting back on topic.
She took over the laptop and began tapping away at it. "If that's the case, we'll probably be given access." She hit enter and waited for the computer to finish the job. Mikoto and Kuroko leaned closer, anticipating who was the one that developed the level upper.
It was Kiyama Harumi.
Emilia was in the cab with Mikoto. As soon as the cab stopped, they both left the car, with Mikoto instructing the driver to get away.
"Why are you coming with me?" The Electromaster asked.
"Because I can. What, do you have a problem with judgement doing their job? Don't stop me from helping, and I won't stop you from helping either." Emilia said sprinting with Mikoto.
"Yeah but…" Mikoto trailed off.
Emilia stopped in response. "What, it's dangerous? Give me a break." She continued to start running again.
Emilia put her hand against the earpiece she was wearing. "Kuroko? What's the situation?"
"Kiyama's fighting Anti-Skill…" Kuroko said in disbelief.
"There are no records with Kiyama going through ability development, these are clearly esper powers." Mii finished, noticing that Kuroko was fumbling her words.
"Hm, figures as much." Emilia replied casually. "I suspected this the moment we realized it being Kiyama."
Now it was Mii's turn to be shocked. "How do you know?"
"I originally thought that the level upper was made for profit, but it's clearly not that case for Kiyama. The level upper is responsible for her multiple abilities."
Emilia and Mikoto reached a small metal fence. While Emilia was about to jump over the fence, Mikoto zapped the lock before she could do so, opening the gate. The two continued their rush towards the scene.
"Wait, you said multiple abilities? That can't be true, esper's only have one!" Mikoto said on the run.
"Dual skill." Emilia said, once they arrived at the scene. She looked at the destruction and gazed back to Mikoto. "Surely you heard of it right?"
Mikoto looked around in the road filled with rubble. Once she noticed that destroyed Security robots are everywhere, Anti-Skill trucks lie on its sides, and Anti-Skill personnel lie on the ground, unmoving. "No way. She took down anti-skill?"
Emilia went forward to inspect the scene and went straight for the nice-looking car. "What did you expect, Misaka? About ten thousand brains together. It would even be a surprise that a level 5 could beat her." She added, while walking around.
But suddenly…
"Uiharu!", "Uiharu-san!" Emilia and Mikoto said at the same time. They both rushed to the car. "Hey, can you move?" Emilia asked.
"She's fine." Said Harumi's voice.
The two girls looked behind them to find a lone scientist in the middle of the road. One of her eyes is bloodshot red.
"She merely passed out from the climax of the battle. Her life is in no danger." She added.
Mikoto held her arm in front Emilia, to protect her. Though she was a member, she only had the power of a level 2 or 3.
"You're one of the 8 level 5s in Academy city. Can you stop me?" Harumi said, her face completely calm.
"Can I stop you? Of course I will!" Mikoto charged straight for her. Emilia leaped behind a car lying sideways as cover.
Emilia couldn't do anything. She couldn't use her ability for obvious reasons, and she didn't want to be a burden to Mikoto too. She found an Anti-Skill personnel lying on the ground, with a rifle in front of them. Emilia picked up the rifle and inspected it. X told me that I Wouldn't know how to use a gun, but seeing my opponents use one, I'm sure it'll be fine.
She stuck her head above the car, rifle in hand. Mikoto was still fighting Harumi. I could offer support for Mikoto, but I don't want to shoot her by accident… but I have to do something though. Oh right, is the gun even loaded?
Emilia took the magazine and checked it. Sure enough, it was empty and Emilia had to reload it. She threw the old magazine away and picked up a new one that was conveniently in the Anti-Skill personnel's belt.
It didn't take much brain power to reload. After seeing her targets do it, she had a basic idea. After she was finished, she turned around to point the rifle but…
Harumi jolts the ground, and energy travels through the freeway, making part of it collapse down to ground level. Anti-Skill barely escaped the attack. Emilia approached the large hole Harumi made and looked down, rifle in hand.
"Get away! This is no matter for a citizen! You need to evacuate to safety!" An armoured woman on the ground yelled.
Emilia turned to see where the voice came from. "Oh, right." She muttered. She took out her judgement armband and calmly put it on.
"That's not going to do anything! Get out of here!" The woman yelled in response.
Emilia ignored her. She saw Mikoto and Harumi continue to fight. Mikoto picked a large concrete piece and threw it to Harumi, but she simply used some laser sword ability and cut it down.
If she's countering with a sword, then that shield doesn't affect physical attacks! I can do this!
She leaped into the scene firing her rifle. Hey, the recoil isn't that bad. Harumi looked up and as expected reacted by blocking the bullets.
However, Emilia landed with a roll and was right up in Harumi's face. Since Harumi was distracted by the bullets Emilia caused, she managed to land a hit in Harumi's face.
"You're a brave one." She commented, taking a few steps back. She rubbed her face and held her arm in Emilia's direction. "Watch out! Mikoto yelled.
Emilia's experience in the dark side was coming into play. She noticed that I'm a bit brave, so now she's going to think that I'm going to charge her again. In that case, I'll backpedal.
A few rocks rose into the sky and went straight for Emilia. She leaped backwards, successfully dodging them and rolled to the side to dodge a laser beam. There are no openings, she's too unpredictable. Unless…
Emilia charged forward, but Harumi threw a few metal cans in front of her, so she took a step back. Just as Emilia thought, the cans exploded. She raised her rifle and opened fire.
Harumi simply made a shield and countered with a fireball. But Emilia dodged that too and kept firing.
Harumi smirked. "You should give up. This is going nowhere. I'm surprised you're able to last this long but there's no way you will beat me."
Emilia smiled too, much to Harumi's surprise. "We'll see about that. Now Misaka!"
Harumi turned around to find Mikoto and tried to counter, but it was too late for her. Mikoto hugs her from behind.
"It didn't work on that idiot, but if Emilia can land a hit on you, this will surely do something!" She yelled.
Harumi tried to get away, but it was futile. "Too slow!" Mikoto yelled, then proceeded to electrocute Harumi.
Harumi falls unconscious in Mikoto's arms, and Emilia smiles.
"I went easy on her just in case... " Mikoto said to Emilia, tired out.
"I'll take credit for this." Emillia said jokingly. "Misaka?" she asked. Noticing that there was no witty comeback. But Mikoto seemed to be shocked. "Misaka?" Emilia said again, she threw the rifle to the side and came to her friend. "Misaka-san? Are you okay?" Mikoto let go of Harumi's body, still in shock.
"You saw?" Harumi asked. Emilia rolled the side, picking up the rifle in the process and pointed it at Harumi. But before she could fire, Mikoto stood in front of her.
"What are you doing? She's con-"
"Emilia, I don't think she's a bad person." Misaka said.
Emilia slowly put the rifle down, deciding to trust her friend.
Mikoto turned back around to face Harumi, who was still on the ground. "Why did they do that… " Mikoto asked, much to Emilia's confusion.
Harumi got, her head tightly clutched against her head. "To the public, it was an experiment on the control of AIM diffusion fields. But in truth, It was actually an experiment analyzing the principles behind overloading abilities. Their goal was to find the trigger for overloading AIM diffusion fields."
"Then…" Mikoto trailed off.
"It was deliberately designed to overload them. Although I didn't realize till later, these children never woke up, and continue to sleep even now."
Harumi turned around. "We used them as guinea pigs and threw them away!"
Emilia stepped in. "Look, I have no idea what you two are talking about. But if something vile is happening, you can just contract Anti Skill."
"23 times. If I had the computational power of Tree diagram, I would be able to save them. But I was rejected 23 times!"
Emilia flinched.
"I would do anything to save those kids. I would do anything! EVEN IF IT MAKES THIS ENTIRE CITY MY ENEMY!" Harumi screamed.
Mikoto stood there in shock.
Emilia braced for something to happen.
But suddenly, Harumi collapsed. Something rose from Harumi's head.
"What in the actual fuck?" Emilia said, looking at the abomination that just grew from Harumi's head. This was one of the first times Emilia was ever confused.
"A fetus." Mikoto said softly.
Mikoto and Emilia looked upon the thing as it floated ominously upon the air, and its bloodshot eyes stared blankly into empty space. Emilia found that it's most noticeable feature was it's halo upon its head like a malformed cherubim of ecclesiastical tradition.
"Hey, you're from Tokiwadai right? Is this kind of stuff normal?" Emilia asked. She hated to rely on others for information, but for once in her lifetime, she was beyond confused to the point that she thinks she's dreaming.
Just as Emilia thought, Mikoto shook her head as her eyes were still in shock. But before Emilia could ask any more questions, it made an ear-piercing cream then made a blast of energy that ripped out from it. Mikoto was forced to shield Emilia and herself from the power.
Mikto countered with a lightning shock, and to Emilia's surprise, it did some damage. However, the thing simply healed itself like mutant cancer, and grew bigger in the process.
Emilia turned around to find Kazari awake and okay, near the ground floor. "I don't think I will be much use in this situation. I'm going get Kazari and myself out of here, be safe okay?" She said to Mikoto, who received a nod in reply.
Emilia dashed out the area, grabbing Kazari's wrist in the process.
"Wait!" Kazari said with an urgent tone. Emilia stopped to listen to her friend. Kazari pointed at the thing. "It's not coming after us."
Emilia also noticed this and thought it was strange. She saw the Anti-Skill personnel open fire on the thing, but it was no use. The thing kept getting bigger and bigger. But while Emilia was still paying attention to what's going on, Kazari grabbed her wrist instead, and dragged her under the bridge. Mikoto also followed too.
The three found Harumi awake and alive, against a pillar holding up the bridge.
"Don't give up!" Kazari said, in response to Harumi's mutters of despair.
Harumi looked up to find Mikoto, Emilia, and Kazari together.
"So let me get this straight. That thing is a network of all the people who used the level upper, and the mass thoughts of 10,000 children? Would that mean Saten is a part of it too?" Emilia said in a skeptical tone.
Harumi nodded in response.
Emilia sighed. "You have no reason to lie to us. Do you know a way to stop the thing?"
Harumi slowly handed a chip of some sorts to Kazari.
"The level upper treatment program!" Kazari exclaimed.
Mikoto looked around to see the situation at hand. "I'll do something about that thing. Kazari, take that to Anti-Skill and Emilia, protect her along the way."
"Understood!" Kazari and Emilia said in sync.
Emilia ran forward in full speed up the stairs, only to notice that Kazari isn't as fast as herself. "Come on!" She encouraged Kazari.
Kazari and Emilia climbed up the stairs as fast as possible. But suddenly, Emilia sensed a projectile coming their way with her ability. "Stop!" She ordered, grabbing Kazari to shield her.
Emilia screamed in pain. She fell down several steps and smacked her head onto the iron fence keeping people from falling off.
"Emilia!" Kazari said, coming back to her friend. Emilia slowly got up, her hand over her head. "I'm fine. Let's go."
Kazari walked firmly up the stairs. On the other hand, Emilia ran upwards taking two steps at a time, wary of anything else coming in their way.
When they reached the top, another projectile was fired straight at Kazari. In response, Emilia tackled Kazari to the side, so they can only take minor damage from the explosion.
But the explosion was shielded by two Anti-Skill. "Geez, kids need to be less reckless."
Emilia got up. "How's the treatment program?"
Kazari also got up and opened her palm to check. "It's fine," she says, much to the other girl's relief.
"Over here!" Emilia shouted. Kazari entered the van, inserting the treatment program. While Kazari was doing her work, Emilia left the van to witness how Mikoto was handling the rest of the situation. Heh, now you'd have no problem wrecking that thing Mikoto.
As the sound reached everyone's ears, she smiled and put away her armband. She proceeded to walk away from the scene, almost limping, through the highway.
"Hey! Where are you going?" The Anti-Skill captain yelled.
"Home." Emilia answered in response.
