With the rise of quirks, heroes and villains became a reality to the world. Now you had people who could shoot fire from their arms or fly or even move objects with their mind appearing on a regular basis. However, due to the widespread of abilities with quirks you also had other fantasies becoming a reality. To some quirks that were pushing the boundaries of science they gave off the impression of magic having come into existence, or even those urban fantasies stories were now becoming a thing of the norm. Yet in a bit of irony, one such form of fantasy was also brought into reality as well…the fantasy of kaiju battles from those old monster movies like Godzilla or King Kong. Two users with quirks that enlarged them fighting would not be out of place in those movies of old. Overhaul going full kaiju was like one of those creatures and Marcus assume Shinegreymon despite being a Digimon also invoked such a feeling to those unaware of the Digimon.
"Shine, we have to wrap this up as fast as possible. I don't know about you but I'm sure two giant monsters at the yakuza is gonna make for some good news," He told his partner. Shinegreymon nodded as he rushed to the Yakuza chimera. He blocked one of the creature's arms before he sliced it off with his sword. The Mega Digimon then sent the sword through the creature's center as he hoped to put it out of commission. However, Shinegreymon was momentarily stunned when he felt a surge of emotions and voices echo through his boy. The dragon-man removed his sword and jumped back taking care not to damage the area too much.
"Boss…we've got a problem," The Mega said. "I can feel them," He told his partner.
"Feel who?" Marcus asked.
"The yakuza, they are all still conscious inside of that thing," Shinegreymon informed as he watches Overhaul use his quirk to heal the damage done the Digimon had inflicted.
"Oh man, now we can't just knock him out," Marcus said. He wasn't a scientist but he had a feeling that leaving something like that was a bad idea. "Alright keep him busy; see if you can destroy all the parts of him that aren't alive, while I check Mirei and Erika for a solution to this problem." He told his partner. Marcus then heard some noise in the background and he grimaced when he realized what it was, news choppers and cops, heroes might be arriving shortly as well. "Well that's just perfect," He scowled as he entered the digital world to avoid being seen.
Shinegreymon turned to the abomination before him as he readied the sword again. He concentrated as he stared at the creature feeling for the emotions within that signified the people they had to save. Overhaul tried to attack him once more but Shine was ready and began hacking him to pieces destroying all his excess mass. He slashed and forced the man to back down a few meters before he stabbed and used his sword to hoist the man behind and hack into the other direction before he repeated. Eventually, Overhaul was now a small grotesque figure that Shine was easily able to grab with his arm and hoist him into the air. The mega dragon was no fool; he knew Overhaul could not be allowed to stay on the ground. His boss had informed him before of the man's ability to manipulate matter, unfortunately for Overhaul, Digimon weren't made of matter; they were made of data. "Now let's just stay here, while they get to work figuring out how to…"
"Canyon Cannon," A voice called, as Shinegreymon was struck from the side.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," The dragon man cursed as he almost staggered forward. Overhaul had almost slipped from his grasp but he was able to catch the slimy little worm before he could escape. Pro hero, Mount Lady had arrived, and being a hero she had full intention of beating the Mega. Shinegreymon swung his tail to her left and the Pro managed to catch it, only to fail to notice he had swung his sword to her right and struck her with the blunt side. A giant hero, she wished, she was still a human and her body wasn't even covered in armor unlike his chrome body, flesh and bone vs solid metal was not a good match up. "Now before someone more competent shows up, I'm going to have to take this somewhere else," Shinegreymon thought as he looked around. He tried recalling his geography…the best place to take Overhaul would be…there. He pulled the abomination back before he started sprinting down the road. He had to be very careful about this next part because if he wasn't careful with his timing he could cause some major damage. He kept the power to wings at a minimum so they wouldn't be noticed and took a massive leap using his wings to boost his jump as he crossed a great distance before he used the same upwards force to cushion his landing. "At the very least they will think I can leap tall buildings in a single bound," He thought as he repeated the process. "I just hope the others don't see this…they'll never let me live it down," He thought.
"So he flew into the wall and fell unconscious," Recovery girl asked Sayo as she examined Izuku. Honestly, what was it with these two, either one landed in the nurse's office or one sent people to the nurse's office. She hoped this wasn't going to start becoming a pattern with the two of them. "Well, the good news is that nothing seems to be broken. He has no fractures and the blow was just superficial." The nurse diagnosed, as she used some smelling salts to revive to sleep boy. Izuku twitched slightly before his eyes opened as he regained his sense.
"And the bad news?" Sayo asked. The nurse merely turned to her.
"There is no bad news," She answered the cyber sleuth. "How are you feeling dear?" She asked Izuku.
"Oh…uh I'm doing alright," Izuku said. "My head just feels a little…off," He told her.
"Well that's to be expected," She told him. The next thing Izuku and Sayo knew they were both hits in the shins with her cane. "Do yourself both a favor and next time wear proper safety equipment," She yelled at both of them. Both cyber sleuths who had faced monsters probably thrice as big and many times more powerful were now sweating nervously at the rage of the old lady.
"We will," Sayo said as she sweated nervously.
"It will never happen again, we swear," Izuku added.
The elder lady stared at the duo before her expression softens at them. "That's good, I know how it must feel for you two," She added. "You want to work hard to prove that you both can stand with the others," She told them. Sayo was about to something but the nurse stopped her. "I'm not saying either of you should stop it on the contrary I think you all should continue what you're doing, but you both just need to be careful. You won't get anywhere if you injure yourself pointlessly," She added. Sayo didn't comment after.
"Thanks…that means a lot coming from a pro," Izuku said. "I was half expecting you to tell me I should give up just because I didn't have a quirk," He told her.
"Oh, I wouldn't say it's from a pro. I'm just an old lady who's seen a lot in her life." She told them. "Besides…I'm pro hero second, my first and foremost profession is a doctor, I just happen to be a pro because my quirk helps," She told them "To tell you the truth that's a rather stupid way of thinking, pro heroes and regular people aren't all that different, the only real difference is that one uses quirks and the others don't," The old lady lectured. . "If I didn't have this power I wouldn't be a hero, I'd just be Dr. Chiyo," She explained.
"Heroes go above and beyond to save people, whether they are doctors, cops, or any emergency responses," Sayo added. The nurse nodded in agreement.
"At best the only thing one has over the other is heroes have to get more money and recognition," She told them as she turned on the TV she had in the nurse's office. "You scroll through any news channel and you're bound to find a story on some villain fighting some hero," She explained. Both Izuku and Sayo turned to glance at the TV and their eyes almost bulged out of their head at what they saw. "See look right there, the news is covering some battle over there because the heroes are going to be there but none of them is going to cover a story about a cop who would be involved in a similar situation," She told them.
"Is that?" Izuku asked.
"Yep," Sayo answered not believing her eyes. Shinegreymon playing the hulk as he ran away while the cops, the news, and some pro heroes chased after him. Both cyber sleuths looked at each other wondering if they should go and do something or just stay put because as it stood, real people were involved with this one.
"So should we be worried?" Izuku asked.
"Nah," Sayo answered. To Recovery Girl it might have seemed like they were referring to be worried about the chrome-covered villain, however to the cyber sleuths it was more of the opposite. Marcus had demonstrated the power of Shinegreymon before to show them the potential they both could wield one day. He had taken them on a case that involved a Mega Digimon causing trouble, GranKuwagamon; it was right out of the monster movie, except once Shinegreymon had hammered the creature of equal level to him, he then went pure overkill and nuked the area with his most powerful attack, Glorious Burst, incinerating the area and vaporizing all the debris that had fallen alongside their battle. The duo was aware that if the Mega had really put effort into his attacks and movements, the country wouldn't remain standing.
"Well…I'm feeling fine, so I think I should get to class," Izuku said as got out of bed. Despite his assurance that Marcus's Digimon wouldn't cause trouble, because honestly speaking anyone who has met Agumon knows that Digimon is only ever going to fight those who cause trouble, he didn't like seeing his mentor's partner be portrayed as a villain. Plus Izuku also needed to get back to class, he couldn't afford to fall behind just because of some bump and lunch was almost over.
"If you're still feeling anything funny, I'd suggest you come back immediately," Recovery girl said as she discharged him.
"Thank you," Izuku told her once more as they left.
Once they were enough away from the Nurse's office, Sayo was already on her phone scanning the new sites. "Well this is bad," She noted. Shinegreymon was already front page as a top story. "Do you recognize any of the heroes?" She asked as she showed him the live feed. "All I can make out is Human Torch and Groot," Sayo noted.
"Um…I think you mean Endeavour and Kamui Woods," Izuku said with a sweatdrop. Seriously how did she not know any of the heroes by now? Was she just intentionally not bothering to learn about them? "Still this does worry me that the number 2 hero is going to engage," Izuku said.
"Dragon man, power of Gaia and Burst mode," Sayo listed off. Shinegreymon was a very large dragon based Digimon, coated in Digi-chromozoid, the strongest metal in the digital world, and he was a fire attribute Digimon with his burst mode which practically had him fight with wings of flames as well as a sword and shield made of fire. She sincerely doubted a fire quirk user would be an issue to him.
Izuku was going to respond when they heard a booming voice. "Young Sayo, I'm glad I found you," All Might said as he approached them. "Nice to see you as well Young Midoriya," He told Izuku before he turned to Sayo. "I need your help with something," He informed the Cyber Sleuth.
"What's up All Might?" Sayo asked the number one hero.
"Well this might come off very suddenly," All Might said nervously, "But there has been a recent villain attack that is causing quite a bit of trouble nearby," He explained. The duo didn't have to guess what attack he was referring to they just showed him the feed on Sayo's phone. "Yes, that's the one," The hero told him.
"What does this have to do with me?" Sayo asked. She sincerely hoped in some convoluted way, he wasn't linking them to Marcus and Shinegreymon.
"Well I think I may be needed, but I have a class in a few minutes," All Might explained.
"Um, I still have no idea what this has to with me?" Sayo responded. All Might handed her a stack of papers.
"I want you…to teach the class," All Might. Both Sayo and Izuku stared at the hero dumbfounded. Did they hear him correctly? "Now I know what you are thinking? You are not qualified to be a teacher, right. Well, the class is mostly theory and I have managed to summarize most of what would be needed right here. All you would need to do is go and write it on the board." All Might explained. "Please Young Sayo…the people need me…and I need you to help me," All Might pleaded.
"Well," Sayo trailed off. This was a stupid idea, she was not a teacher. She could say no right, but she would be breaking the terms of her punishment. She cast a glance at Izuku.
"She'll do it," Izuku said before Sayo could respond.
"Wait, what," Sayo said.
"Thank you, Young Sayo," All Might said before he dashed out to no doubt face off against the Mega, leaving the two sleuths in the hallway.
Sayo turned to glare at Izuku who merely smiled sheepishly at her. "What…it's not like we can say no to All Might," He told her. "Besides the only classes he teaches are heroics, so chances are you get to trouble my friends once more," He informed. Hopefully, she could make amends with them instead but as always his hopes weren't so high with Sayo.
"I don't think that will happen," Sayo said as she read one of the pages.
"Huh; how come?" Izuku asked before Sayo showed him one of the pages. The heroics class All Might was supposed to lecture was none other than Class 1B.
Knock! Knock!
"Mirei, Erika, are you down here?" Marcus asked as he knocked down another door in the Yakuza base.
"Why don't you shout a little louder or put a sign saying we're here," Erika answered sarcastically. "People are already swarming the area, and pretty soon they are going to run searches for anyone who might be trapped under rubble," She commented as she looked at the various news and camera feeds.
"Sorry," Marcus apologized. "Looks like we underestimated Overhaul," Marcus admitted. He would have expected assimilation as Digimon's method of ensuring victory but not a human.
"We can worry about that later, right now we need to finish whipping a 'cure' for him," Mirei answered as she looked at her tablet. "How are you doing Dr. Datamon?" She asked the cyborg Digimon next to her.
"It-it won't be l-long now," The cyborg responded as he seemed to be hooked up to some machinery in yakuza base. Marcus glanced over at the digimon.
"What is doing?" The brawled asked.
"When we saw Overhaul become…that thing, we realized that there might only be two ways to undo it. We used Eri's quirk or someone with a similar matter manipulation." Mirei explained. "Naturally we don't have another matter manipulator, and Eri should never meet that monster again for as long as she lives," Mirei explained.
"So do we have to kill him?" Marcus asked. He may not actively support the idea, but after what Overhaul did, assimilating the others in such a haphazard manner, he would understand the need to put down such an abomination.
"If this fails then we just might," Mirei said as she showed Marcus what they were working. "Originally we were going to use just a bullet and then destroy it, but I suppose this will be a more poetic way of getting rid of it," She explained to Marcus. Before them were all the 'samples' and 'prototypes' Overhaul had made using Eri's body. "Overhaul managed to modify and refine her quirk for his plans of grand delude. He isolated her power so it would remove the quirk mutations rather than kill an entire person, but Eri's power could also undo and repair any damage…or enhancement done a person's body. If given the choice she could make for one very good doctor if she so desires because she could reset a person to a state before." Mirei explained.
"In other words, she can reset him and the others, to before they assimilated," Marcus realized.
"Exactly," Mirei answered. "Dr. Datamon here is just running through the necessary processes to ensure we don't accidentally them or make things worse,"
"But will that actually be enough?" Marcus questioned.
"The Yakuza had quite a bit of Trigger here as well, if they were so keen on taking and using it to even the others and distribute it to others, well then…let's see how they like a taste of their own medicine. Trigger enhances quirks exponentially and if mix it properly we can kill two birds with one stone," Mirei said.
"You may need to speed up that process," Erika said as she looked up from her monitor.
Shinegreymon landed on the coastline after a few more jumps. "You better not die on me just yet," He growled at the abomination in his grasp before he hurled Overhaul into the ocean. With only and water and sand, the Yakuza shouldn't be able to make any more appendages to be a problem. It should also keep him away from any civilians or heroes who might interfere so Shine would not have to worry about any more messy situations. He could only imagine the horrors that would happen if Overhaul assimilated one of the heroes into him.
The Mega's eyes suddenly widened as he felt several wooden branches suddenly snake around his body. Turning his head he could see a few of the pros finally arrive to try and 'stop' him. Surprisingly he had managed to earn the attention of a few of the rising stars and some of the tops. He could make out fire man, the wood man, the discount dragon lady, and a few others. The wood man in particular was now holding him in place. "After this Gatomon better bake me something nice," Shine said as he broke out of the tree branches. He would need to give them a little show at least. He could already sense another hero coming. Shinegreymon bent his knees and prepared himself to fall back. He couldn't have them think he was an unstoppable monster. That would just breathe more panic. So when he heard the loud voice bellow 'Detriot Smash' Shinegreymon took a dive.
Okay, I'll be honest one of my biggest worries is that by having the quirks in MHA be outclassed by some digimon, I'd risk seeming bias to one side but since a lot of people have pointed out that MHA does indeed have scale to be a lot weaker I feel that fear slowly dissipating. Here we have Shinegreymon have to worry not so much about beating Overhaul and the heroes but actually just avoiding any damage so I feel that keeps it balance because realistically...Shinegreymon or Wargreymon could easily solo most MHA with their power, mostly because they are also bigger but Wargreymon literally makes big ball of boom.
For anyone who's seen Savers/Data Squad...you know Endeavour challenging Shinegreymon is honestly a joke when Shinegreymon vs Belphemon happened before especially with Shine's BM.
Well that's all for now. Stay safe and comment what you like so far about the story.
