Chapter 14: Time for some romance?
August 17, 2009
After Sara woke up and got ready for the day, she checked on her almost 2 month old daughters, and made sure her oldest son was up before heading downstairs to the kitchen, where she stopped in the doorway to watch her husband, who was holding Roby in his arms as he was teaching their little man how to cook pancakes, which cooking in general was something Roby had been wanting to learn from him for awhile now, so Grissom had promised him he'll start teaching him on his next birthday, and since his birthday was on the same day as his dad's, he was making good on his promise, causing Sara to smile as she thinks back to their precious son's birth.
Flashback
August 17, 2003
With the hormones still going through her, Sara had tears in her eyes as she said softly. "I'm so sorry about ruining your birthday din..."
Grissom cuts her off with a chuckle while taking her hand in his. "Are you kidding me? You didn't ruin anything, honey." He brings her hand to his lips and kissed it softly before cupping her cheek with his other hand, still speaking with so much love. "You just gave me one of the best birthday presents I could have ever hoped for, and I can't imagine sharing my birthday with anybody else."
"Really?"
He nodded with a bright smile. "Really."
She started to smile as they leaned toward one another and kissed softly, whispering their love for one another before pulling back, then as he was wiping her tears away, the head nurse was walking up to them with their son in her arms, causing both of them to smile while Sara held out her arms.
Once the brown haired, brown eyed little boy was placed in Sara's arms, they were practically gushing and cooing at him.
"Look at those brown eyes and all that brown hair."
Grissom smiled as he looked down at his son. "Beautiful just like his mother."
With the baby secured in one arm, Sara ran her thumb down her little man's cheek with a smile. "Maybe, but he's got daddy's cheeks, nose and chin, so he's also handsome like daddy."
He smirked at his son while whispering. "Sorry, buddy."
"Hey now, I happen to love his daddy's cheeks, nose and chin."
They have eye contract as he raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?"
She nodded with a smile. "Oh yeah, since I was thirteen years old."
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead before the nurse came back to them, asking that familiar question.
Unlike when it came to saying what their first son's name was, Grissom answered first this time. "Robert Lee Grissom."
Sara gasped as she whispered. "Griss?"
He looked at his wife with a smile. "Despite not knowing the man very long, I know how much you loved him, how much you admired him. He made you feel safe for the first time in a long time, he even taught you how to take apart and put together a vehicle, which turned out it gave you another tool for your future career. I know you've been finding a way to honor him, and what better way is there?"
A few tears went down her cheek as she asked. "Are you sure?"
He cupped her cheek and wiped her tears away. "Yeah, I am, if you really want to."
There was a pause before Sara nodded. "Ok." She then looked at the nurse, and nodded with a smile. "Robert Lee Grissom."
The nurse nodded with a smile while she wrote it down while Sara looked down at her baby. "Hi, my little Roby, I love you so much."
After Grissom whispered his love, Sara looked at him again and whispered. "Griss?"
"Yeah?"
She started to smile as she finished. "Happy Birthday."
He smiled with his eyes shinning bright, this was literally one of the best birthdays he's ever had during his 33 years of living.
End of Flashback
Sara's thoughts were interrupted when she heard Grissom's smirk. "Do you like the view?"
Sara smirked, placed the baby monitor on the table and walked up to her husband before placing a hand on the small of his back while whispering in his ear. "Oh, very much, but as much as I like this view, there are other views I am looking forward to tonight."
With the boys going to their grandmother's after Roby's birthday party, and Melissa offered to take the girls for the night, this would be the first night alone since the twins were born.
He cleared his throat as she kissed his ear with a smile, knowing her words affected him, then their moment was interrupted when Roby spoke with excitement. "Mommy, look what I made!"
Sara moved to the side of her husband and saw the plate with what was suppose to be a pancake shaped as a butterfly. "Wow, baby, that looks pretty cool. Good job." He thanked her before Sara kissed her son on the temple. "Happy Birthday, baby." She kissed his temple one more time before heading towards the fridge so she could get the milk for breakfast.
When lunch time came around, the guests/family members started arriving at the house, which included a few of Roby's friends, their friends, their daughter, son-in-law, a few of Grissom's cousins and his mother, and after a few hours during the party, once the cake was eaten and his presents were opened, Mike got everybody's attention. "Excuse me, before everybody leaves I need to say something, something that should have happened awhile go, which I have gotten permission from both birthday boys to say this."
When Mike stopped for a moment, Sara looked at her husband with a raised eyebrow, and he nodded with a smile that told her to wait for it, so she turned her attention back to Mike before he cleared his throat and looked at his girlfriend, who was giving him a curious look, so he smiled as he took her hand. "Nicole, I can only imagine what you thought of me while we were in Middle and High school together, and I don't blame you one bit, but you have to know, that despite my behavior during those times, there has always been a soft spot for you. I just needed to grow up for you to even give me a second look, and ever since you've given me that look, I can't imagine my life without you, you've made my small family feel whole again, you and your daughter makes my life feel complete, so the only thing I have left to ask you is..." He trailed off as he kneeled down, causing Nicole to gasp as she raised her hands up to her mouth, while he removed a ring box from his pocket and lifted the lid up and asked. "Will you marry me? Marry us?" His daughter's, Brittany and Amy, ran up to their father and smiled while asking. "Please?"
Nicole sniffled as she replied. "How can I say no to those faces?"
Mike smirked. "That's what I was counting on." They all chuckled while Mike was still waiting. "So, is that a..."
She cuts him off as she kneeled down in front of him and cupped his cheek. "Yes, I'll marry you." She looked at the two young girls and continued. "I'll marry all of you." The girls cheered, including Lexie as she rushed towards the couple with excitement, before Mike slipped the simple yet elegant ring on her finger and brings her in his arms for a kiss as everybody else started cheering.
They pulled back a few moments later before Nicole shouted. "I'm getting married!"
Another round of cheering happened while they all walked up to the newly engaged couple, happy that they finally found the one they were meant for.
A few more hours later, once Roby's friends had left the house, family members and their friends left, including their kids, which Sara had to admit it was hard watching them, particularly the twins, leave for the night since it was the first time since they've been born they wouldn't be home.
But Sara also knew it had to be done, because despite loving their children and never wanting to see them out of her sight, her and her husband do need that alone time, which it's actually been awhile for them because since the scare they had to be careful in the intimate department and they didn't want to risk anything when it came to safety of their children, or her.
As it reached the evening time, Grissom stared their dinner while Sara set up the back deck table with their plates, glasses, silverware and candlelight before going upstairs to change into something a little more formal.
When she made it back downstairs, he was starting to pour the cider in their glasses, but stopped himself when he saw his wife walk in view.
They smiled at one another as he sets the bottle down before he walks up to her, then he cups her cheek, but still hasn't said a word, so Sara asks with a smirk. "What, that hideous you can't speak?"
He cleared his throat and shook his head before whispering. "Never will happen."
Before Sara could speak, his lips were on hers, and with it being so long since they've kissed like this where it could lead to something more, Sara wrapped her arms around his neck and gave as much passion as he was giving her.
After several minutes, they pulled back and placed their foreheads together, breathing deeply, then when he caught his breath first, he whispered. "We can always save dinner for later?" Right as he said that though, both of their stomachs started rumbling, causing them to chuckle before Grissom shook his head with a smile. "Or maybe not."
She smiled as she pulled back and cupped his cheek. "Sorry babe, besides, it's not fair that I am the only one dressed up."
Grissom then raised an eyebrow as he asked. "Is that the view you were talking about this morning?"
With passion in her eyes, she whispered. "One of them, but there was still a few more I'm really looking forward to."
With his heart racing, he whispered in return. "Then we better get this night started."
"You got that right."
They gave each other another kiss before he pulled back. "Can you check on the pasta? I'll be right back."
She nodded with a smile, then they parted, him going upstairs to change while Sara headed into the kitchen.
By the time Grissom, who was dressed in a suit which only made Sara's heart speed up, had came back downstairs, the pasta was done and they were ready to go out on the deck and eat, and while it was nice to have this alone time, they couldn't stop talking about their children and the little things they did today, then that got them thinking about them and missing their presences around the house, so after dinner, Grissom smiled. "After we do the dishes, why don't we call and check in on our kids." Sara nodded with a smile, happy about that suggestion while they stood up from their chairs and headed inside to start on the dishes before calling his mom and their oldest daughter so they could hear how their babies were doing.
While Sara was finishing up her conversation with her oldest daughter, Grissom was upstairs setting up, and when she finally made it to their bedroom after locking up the house and turning out the downstairs lights, the master bedroom was in candlelight and soft music filled the room.
They locked eyes as they walked towards one another, meeting in the middle of the room and wrapping their arms around one another before their feet started moving, and after a few songs had changed, without any words, their fingers found the buttons and zippers of each other's clothing, slowly taking them off until they were in nothing but their undergarments, then he picked her up bridle style and moved her towards the bed, laying her down gentle when he got them there before moving so he was above her, but before they did anything else, he just stared her, causing her to become self-conscious and she whispered shyly. "What's wrong?"
He shook his head with a smile as he lowered himself down so he would be closer to her. "Absolutely nothing, I'm just admiring my beautiful wife."
Her smile was lost against his lips, but at the moment she didn't care, and once again kissed him with the same passion he was showing her, and eventually, she surprised him when she moved so he was on the bottom while she was on top, and he smirked once they caught their breaths and she had pulled back with a smirk of her own. "Now this is the view you were waiting for."
She chuckled before moving her lips to his lips for a very soft peck, then over to his cheek before reaching his ear as she started to slide her hand down his chest. "Let's just say we are getting warmer."
He took her hand before it went any further, then surprised her when he rolled them over so he was on top again, smirking at her surprised look before slipping his fingers through hers and leaning down to kiss her again, passion and desire coming at them like a tidal wave as each moment passed them by.
While they tried to 'milk' their alone time for all it's worth, one of the advantages of not having younger children, particularly babies, in the house is that it should be easier to sleep, and unfortunately falling asleep is what happened to them sooner than they might have wanted to, so when they woke up the next morning, they looked at one another and started chuckling before Sara shook her head. "I'm so..."
He cuts her off with a smile. "I guess we were more tired than we thought."
They chuckled a little harder, then Sara sighed as she cuddled next to her husband. "I really am sorry."
He kissed the top of her head and reassured her. "Honey, it's ok. We have four kids in the house, and two of them are 2 month old babies, it's no wonder why we were so tired."
Sara nodded as she moved her hand to his to slip her fingers through his. "I know, but our alone time still means something to me and I don't want to miss our chances when they come, not to mention how long it has been in the first place for..."
He cuts her off again, still in a reassuring mode. "And we'll get that part of our life back, I promise."
Feeling his reassuring/comforting words and touch as he kept running his thumb up down her hand, she closed her eyes before looking at him again with a smile and love in her eyes. "You've always been so patient with me."
"Because I always knew you were worth the wait, and I haven't been let down on that thinking."
She turned to look at the her alarm clock that was on her nightstand, then she looked at her husband again, whispering. "Well, it appears we still have a little time before we have to get up and be more presentable."
Grissom raised an eyebrow as her face was coming near his. "Oh? So, what do you suggest we do with our time?"
"I don't know, you tell me."
They peck each other on the lips and pulled back slightly before he whispered. "As you should know, I'm more of a shower than a teller."
She pecks his lips more softly than before, before smirking. "Then, why don't you show me, bug man."
Having not heard that nickname, at least from her in this type of setting, in awhile, sent a pleasant shiver down his spine as they moved so he was above her, then he replied. "Gladly, Mrs. Grissom."
He kisses her softly and pulled back, and when their eyes met again, they showed their love for one another as he lowered himself down, locking their lips together once again before spending their remaining alone time in the most romantic/intimate ways.
