Chapter Thirty
Hospital…
Merrick was in the waiting room when the group got there, still wondering as to what he wanted to discuss and were still a nervous about it. Megan wondered if the people at the top were unhappy about how the case was being handled but immediately knew that couldn't be the case as they were doing everything by the book and Merrick looking strangely calm but that's typical for Merrick, so they wondered what he wanted to say to them.
"Good seeing you Director," Megan said, still nervous as to what he wanted to say about the whole situation.
Merrick must have sensed her nervousness as he put on a warm smile and shook her hand before saying:
"I just wanted to say good work, all of you, as this has been a very strange and stressful case and with Agent Eppes getting kidnapped."
"Thank you, sir," Megan said, "Is there another reason as to why you're here and does it have something to do with Don."
"Yes, as I both wanted to make sure he was going to make it and recover soon enough to soon become the next Assistant director." Merrick said with a sly smile, knowing the surprised look on Megan and the others' faces.
"Wow," Megan said, as she wasn't aware that Don was being considered for a promotion.
"Was Don aware of this beforehand?" Alan asked out of curiosity
"He wasn't but he will be soon." Merrick said, with a knowing smile
"Hopefully sooner than later," Charlie said, smiling that his big brother will soon be moving up with his career
They were soon interrupted when they saw the doctor coming and all were hoping it was some more good news.
