Chapter 4: All In

Metro Tunnels located in Verdansk, Kastovia, which are rumored to be the location of "Mr. Z"

JSOC team composed of Mason, Harper, Crosby, Woods and Rogue hunting target

1430 hours, September 29, 2020

Woods quickly wrapped his arm around the neck of an Al-Qatala soldier and thrust his SOG Knife into the side of his enemy's neck. Woods tightened his grip on his enemy as they desperately thrashed, but soon after perished. Woods dropped the body and cleaned his father's knife before sheathing it again. Section and Harper approached the trapdoor implanted in the bend of the Metro tunnel, weapons at the ready. Woods grabbed his M16A1 and watched as Harper grabbed the handle of the trapdoor and swung it open.

"Walid? Hostile!" An Al-Qatala soldier in the tunnels below the trapdoor shouted in Arabic.

Harper fired his Mk 48 into the tunnel while Section and Woods did the same with their weapons. Woods fired ten three-round bursts, depleting his thirty round mag, Section doing the same with his XM8 as Harper continued to fire his light machine gun. Harper stopped firing, the AQ soldiers in the tunnel cleared out.

"Stay close." Section told his team as he approached the trapdoor and began to climb down into the tunnel.

Woods, Harper, Rogue and Crosby followed their leader into the tunnel, which was nearly pitch black. Woods turned on the flashlight mounted on his M16A1, illuminating the tunnel in the select spot that the rifle was aiming at.

"Woods, you lead." Section told his friend, who nodded and moved to the front of the group.

The five moved through the enclosed area, only big enough for two of them to stand side by side. They entered a larger area with three different paths, left, middle and right.

"Dammit." Crosby said as peeked over Harper's shoulder.

"They knew someone would find this place." Harper said.

"We can't afford to lose anything." Section told his team. " We have to split up."

"I'll go alone." Rogue told his CO. "That's how I work the best."

"Alright." Section replied. "Woods and I will go left, Rogue will go down the middle, so Harper and Crosby, you two'll go right."

"Copy." Crosby said as he pulled the mag from his M27, checked it, and slapped it into the rifle.

All three teams moved down their respective path. Woods surveyed the tunnel, finding nothing of note. There might have been something, but he thought it was just his mind playing tricks on him.

"I don't like this." Woods told Section.

"Me neither." Section replied. "I smell a trap.

"That's probably just the lack of showers."

Section chuckled. The two continued through the tunnel until they found themselves at a dead end. A dead end covered in C4.

"Shit. The tunnel must be rigged to blow!" Woods exclaimed, causing Section to grab his radio and signal the rest of the JSOC team.

"Harper, Rogue, the tunnels are rigged to blow! Rendezvous with us at the entrance!" Section ordered.

"You sure that'll work?"

"No, but it's the best chance we have."

Woods and Section rushed through the tunnels back towards the entrance, past the intersection and quickly arrived at the trapdoor. The two quickly climbed back into the Metro tunnels to find the rest of their team waiting for them.

"Thanks for waiting." Section said as he panted to regain his breath.

"We wouldn't leave you behind." Harper told him.

"Then why didn't you come get us?" Woods asked.

"We knew you were on your way." Crosby answered.

"Did you find any signs of Zakhaev?" Section asked.

"No." Rogue replied, clenching his fist in anger. "We failed."

"Not yet, Rogue." Woods assured his comrade. "Not yet."

Sorry this chapter was pretty short. I didn't really have many good ideas and I was trying to finish this chapter for a while, but to no avail. I really wanted to finish this chapter and write the next one because I have some pretty decent ideas.

P.S. This will lead to the War Room eventually, I just need to tie up some loose ends first. Good. That's one less loose end.
