Chapter 12:

"Are you sure about that, Sam? Very sure?" The Beast drawled as he walked deliberately slowly into the warehouse, its eyes raking over the others. It immediately dismissed both Dean and Castiel and pinned an unblinking gaze on Sam. Sam took a fortifying breath and then answered "Yeah. I'm tired of all this nonsense. Both Heaven and Hell wants me to become the Devil's vessel right? So I figured that letting the King of Hell do as he please is my only option."

"What changed?" The Beast asked, sounding genuinely curious.

"Nothing changed. I'm just tired of it all. I want it all over." Sam replied morosely.

"Very well. Say the magic word Sam."

"Yes."

The Beast threw its head back and defiled Grace poured out of the vessel's mouth. It swirled towards Sam and entered into him. Nick's corpse smouldered for a moment and then crumbled into ashes that were swept away by a sudden gust of wind. For a few moments everything was still. Then suddenly Sam, no, The Beast turned around to face Dean and the Seraph. It flicked a wrist and sent the duo hurtling towards one of the warehouse's walls. Much to its surprise, however instead of crashing into the wall they slipped through it, the wall rippling as though it was a lake surface.

"Hello, Beastie. How do you do?"

It turned around to face a too cheerful Lucifer.

"Who are you?" It snarled out.

"Lucifer Morningstar, King of Hell."

"What-" The Beast was interrupted when Cain shoved his hand into Sam's chest and pulled something dark and oily out of him. Lucifer chanted a spell and was soon joined in by Cain. The oily mess cleared into a bright red seal. Meanwhile Crowley had somehow managed to immobilize the thrashing Beast while Raphael got to work cleansing and purifying the twisted grace, gathering the healed grace into a gently glowing ball of light. Death touched the seal with the tip of a long finger and the entire pocket world shuddered. A voice started screaming in a lost tongue as Gabriel poured the contents of a small vial through the small hole Death had made on the seal. Interestingly, the vial never ran out of the shimmering green liquid no matter how much the Archangel poured into the seal. With a last scream, the seal burst into bright light.

Lucifer and Cain stumbled back and sank to the floor as the pocket dimension shattered into pieces around them. A very spent looking Amenadiel soon joined the pile on the floor.

"She's gone. The deed has been done. The Beast has met its end as well." Death whispered hauntingly. Gabriel sealed the vial and sent it to wherever he had kept it before. Crowley released his hold over the now still Sam while Raphael gave him a quick check up. He then proceeded to wake Sam and stepped aside beckoning a worried looking Dean towards them, who immediately started fussing over his younger brother much to Castiel's amusement.

"Ready to have your powers back?"

"Not really, Raphael."

"Tough luck." And on that cheerful note, Raphael forced the ball of grace into Lucifer. He then healed Amenadiel who turned out to be in a much better condition than he looked, while simultaneously keeping an eye on a nauseous Lucifer. Once the urge to empty his stomach had passed, Lucifer scowled at the Healer.

"Quit acting like a fledgling, brother. Who else was I supposed to stick your grace into?"

Lucifer answered that question by sticking his tongue out at Raphael prompting Amenadiel to swat Lucifer's arm. This caused everyone to burst out laughing, well, everyone except Death that is, who merely gave what passed as an amused smirk at the scene.

"Gabriel, it's time to leave. We have got work to do," Death suddenly intoned. Gabriel inclined his head towards Death and the Being disappeared in a wisp of grey-green smoke.

"You heard the boss man. It's time for the party to end. I'll drop by whenever I can." Gabriel said. Then turning to the humans, he said "Try not to accidently end the world again, boys and no more resurrections. Death's annoyed with you two bozos as it is." On receiving twin nods of agreement, he turned to Castiel and said "Keep an eye on thing one and thing two for me, okay?"

"I will, Brother."

"Keep in touch this time, okay?" Raphael said pulling his younger brother into a hug.

"Yeah."

One by one the rag-tag crew said their goodbyes. Cain promised Lucifer to supply him with Ambrosia. Crowley returned to Hell as its regent King. Lucifer convinced the angels to gather at least once every year at LUX and asked the Winchester Brothers to drop by whenever they were in Los Angeles. Castiel and Raphael returned to Heaven, but not before they dropped Cain back to his cosy little cottage and the humans at Singer's Salvage yard along with their much treasured impala.

Sam and Dean stood before the front door at Bobby's place. Sharing a quick grin they swung the door open and said as one "We're home!"
