Interlude 2

A lover's dream

.

.

.

Sakura Matou was reminiscing on life as she sat down, looking at the backyard of the house.

How long had she not seen him? Years? Ages? It was hard for her to tell at this point. Her memory is growing old and all she has done was take care of the house he had lived in.

Every year, on that specific day, she waits. She waits by the side of the house or in the field of cherry blossoms. Either standing or sitting, she does so patiently, waiting for him to return home for that promised day.

She already grew taller, her youth felt like it had already slipped away as she already possessed the features of a young woman rather than what she had been with him. Her eyes were filled with age and her actions were drained of energy.

She always went through the same routine every day. Washing the dishes, watering the plants, cleaning the house, and sleeping in it.

There was no joy in her actions. Doing this did not make her happy nor even make her smile. It's all somewhat automatous. Just repeated actions every day like a robot who does things for the sake of doing it.

Every year, she cleans the same hallways, waters the same plants, and cooks in the same kitchen. She never chose to live anywhere else.

But she remains still in that house.

Senpai might scold her if his house ended up being a mess once he returns home.

"Senpai, what's taking you so long? I might grow old at this rate."

And with that, she dreamt.

.

.

.

"Come, heroes of history! Those that are rivals and those that are allies! This time, we do not fight those that are against humanity but for the sake of our master!"

"Who is that?"

"I do commend you. You, who walked down the hard path for her. Your love for her rivals the love I had for Saber."

"It's been a while, Shirou."

"Fuhahahahaha! It seems that the end is now. But which side will win? The dreams of one man? Or the desires of a monster?"

"You, the Demon God that stands in my way… Sleep now. For the rest of eternity."

"Hmph, I'm not helping you for your sake."

"This feeling inside of you, this rage, this desire to win! Never forget it contractor! This is what will drive you to win!"

"Even though I should despise you boy, you're different from the one I remember. Just this once, I'll give you the best of my abilities."

"YO! Been a while Shirou, now time to beat the shit out of this thing!"

"This enemy of yours, I will destroy it."

"By order of my command seal, I order you all to win!"

"What on earth is this place?"

"The Demon Gods have been summoned! My plan is now coming to fruition!"

"Such a sad thing you are, Emiya Shirou. Unlike most whose dream ends when they wake, you struggle to fight for it even as it ended."

"Behold the will of humanity! Behold my own dream and will to stand against the end of it all!"

"I am the Grand Caster and a Beast of Humanity."

"Stop it! Please! I can't lose anyone else!"

"Shirou, this battle is not just yours to fight."

"Yeah, I won't lose."

"You stand against me to fulfill your dream. I stand against you to crush yours. How ironic. This time, the positions are reversed."

"Let's settle this, King of Humanity. This time, the dream has to come to an end."

.

.

.

And like that Sakura Matou awoke from the dream.

She looks outside to see a sunny day with cherry blossom flowers falling down from the sky and spreading across the backyard.

A tear falls from her cheek.

"Senpai, you're fighting again, aren't you?"

With shaking hands, she wipes her tears but to no avail. It comes out like a flood. A dam that has broken and will not stop flowing outwards.

"Why?"

She knew the answer. She knew why. The answer was so obvious.

He didn't have to go that far for her. He already saved her life and gave her freedom. She wanted him to be free from all the suffering that he was going through.

Yet, she was a selfish girl. She couldn't help but be happy. There was going to be that chance that she could see him again and that their promised day would truly come. She was going to see him again!

That was the only thought that went through her brain. Despite her sorrows, despite her joys, her brain could not think of anything else.

She realized that she stopped trying to stop the tears and began to clench something so hard that her hand began to bleed.

She opened to see what was in her palm and she sees it.

A pair of keys for the house.

"I'll be waiting for you… Senpai…"

It may have just been a dream, something meaningless and something that could be forgotten. But she felt as though there was something influencing her to see it.

And after several years, life returns to her eyes. It glimmers with a feeling she had long thought was lost after she heard that he had died, after her own sister had vanished from the clock tower, after she spent her days in this household alone.

Hope.

"That's why… I'm asking you…"

She speaks to nobody yet she feels as though a certain boy could hear her.

"Come home."

"I'll come back soon. Sakura. Please wait for me until then…"

And just like that, the flowers that fell that say seemed to be prettier than ever before. Even brighter and even calmer.

Just you wait for your prize, Sakura Matou…

You'll see him soon enough.

AN

This will be the momma load.

I just realized that I'll be writing myself into a torture fest.

Despite me not writing much about the previous chapters (for reasons of my own shitty writing), It's gonna be a tough chapter. This will rely on your personal connection to all the servants on your own and your attachment to the F/SN Characters.

I have an ending in mind for this that will leave this open for the Lostbelts yet also remain final at the same time.

So that's why I'll start writing about the events now and leave this chapter as a cliffhanger. Because the Salmon will be a big chapter. Like a BIG chapter. So, I want to build up some hype for it before I actually drop it.

Because I'll be writing the WHOLE damn thing in one.

Next up is the Kara no Kyoukai Collab… I think… Or maybe a F/Z or a F/Loli chapter… Or maybe the DAMN TSUKIHIME COLLAB IF IT EVER CAME.

JK. Whatever you think is up next is to your imagination for now. I make no promises that I will keep up with your expectations if you have any for this story.

Also before I see this coming, But all of Humanity's literrally burned away. How can this part of the story even be possible?

You can flame me for this but I did it to fuck with emotions. :)

I hope you enjoyed this! If not, then thank you for your time!
