A/N Hi guys! I hope this chapter is satisfactory :D So I know it is not long, but again my chapters are not very long :/ But I covered a lot of things that I needed to clear up, and a big huraay for Sizzy!
Disclaimer 1: As someone who has been bullied, I know that a love story between a bully and a victim can not be this easy. As seemed from the platforms name, it is just a fiction. But I also want to say, this love story between Clary and Jace is not going to be that easy. I also want to note that, Jace is not exactly a bully, but more of a tease. People like Sebastian are bullies. You haven't seen a lot of Sebastian scenes, but he gets physical with his victims, thus making him the real bully. But Jace being just a tease, doesn't mean that the relationship between Jace and Clary is going to develop that easily. Note that even though Jace is not exactly a bully, he and Clary are not the bestest friends. So there is going to be some drama between them. I just want to say this to people who got bullied: I have been bullied heavily since I even began elementary school, so don't take this story as disrespect, because believe me, I would have want every bully in the world to understand their mistakes and befriend or fall in love with people they did unfairness to; but life is not that easy, and as I wrote before, this is just a fiction.
With all respect,
The author of the story.
Disclaimer2: I don't own the TMI, but the plot.
Clary hadn't got any sleep for the last two days. Surprisingly, Jace hadn't leave her side while she was at school, which she wasn't complain about. She really needed someone with her so Sebastian wouldn't find her alone. She doubted Sebastian would dare to do anything to her, since there was a witness, and if something happened to her, at least Jace would now what exactly happened to her, and who was the cause.
Now she was walking down the corridor, Jace by her side. Normally she would be uncomfortable, but now his presence brought her a sense of safety, knowing that even thought this was the same guy she never got along with, he had humanity, and if needed he would help her. But Clary wasn't as upset as she was two days ago. At first she would cry herself to sleep, upset and confused at the same time. But that was no longer the case. Now her sadness had left its place to anger. She was mad. She needed to know how Sebastian had gotten the information about her father. There was no way he could have heard it from someone; Clary was suspicious that the way Sebastian found out all the information was illegal in some way, which means finding out how he learned all of this stuff could get him in trouble. Even though he hadn't gotten in trouble for raping someone, which made Clary's blood boil, she was determined to get Sebastian in trouble, to at least get revenge for all of his doings.
Clary lifted her head, her eyes stopping at her best friend leaning against her locker. She suddenly felt guilty. Because of all the things that happened, she had forgotten about Simon. It wasn't like she hid truth from him. He was her best friend after all, and he was the only person who knew about the trouble Sebastian had caused her. He most certainly didn't know what was going on with Sebastian and her right now, but he already had a lot on his plate; Isabelle and Simon still couldn't find a way to date comfortably, without being afraid of strict fathers or arranged marriage contracts.
It was ridiculous, really. Clary felt like she was in a soap opera, and she was the main character.
The main character that ended up dying.
She knew she was exaggerating, but she really was fed up. When she was thinking about this new year, all she thought was she and her best friend Simon would get ignored as always, in the shadows of popular jerks, and she would get teased as always, but never did she thought she would have to share one of her biggest secrets with the same jerk that used to tease her, and have her best friend wait for her, without knowing what was going on in her life, with plenty of problems of his own.
She gave a big sigh.
"Clary." Her best friend's voice broke her out of her train of thoughts.
"Simon." Clary tried to smile, which felt really forced, and from the look on Simon's face, it looked forced too.
"Clary can I talk to you?" He said. Then turning his head, he glared at Jace "Privately."
Jace glared back at him, yet he slowly walked away from them, heading towards the damned English Lit. they both had.
"Clary, are you okay?"
She wasn't really.
"I am, Simon don't worry."
"Are you sure?"
No.
"Yes, of course."
"Then why are you walking with Jace? Did something happen?"
Yes. Something indeed happened, and Jace was trying to help her for the same reason.
"No. not really."
"Well that doesn't explain why you are walking with him. There got to be something bad going on that you have been hanging out with him for the past few days."
Yes, there was something bad going on.
"No, Simon, there is nothing going on. We just… decided to call a truce. This ongoing game of teasing each other didn't give anything good to us. So we are trying to be friends."
"Are you sure? Do you need anything?"
Yes. She could use a hug.
"Nope." She gave his arm a squeeze. "You greet Isabelle for me."
"I have been thinking," Jace whispered during the lecture " have you ever told anyone outside of your family about the...situation?"
"No." Clary simply answered. She really didn't like talking about this with Jace of all people. But she had a feeling that Jace wouldn't tell about the event that took place, to anyone. It could be the fact he was there when Sebastian was threatening her, or the fact that he hated Sebastian as much as she did, she did trusted him.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
A silence fell between them for about five minutes before she suddenly lifted her head, her eyes shining.
"I haven't told anyone, but my mum has."
In lunch, they were sitting under the shadow of a tree. Simon wasn't there with her, because he and Isabelle had ditched school. It wasn't very Simon thing to do, but since dating Isabelle he had done a lot of things Clary didn't know he would.
"Are you sure?" Jace asked the hundredth time.
"Yes, Jace, I am. I know my mum went to therapy for six months after the incident. And I clearly remember my mum calling the woman with the name Élodie, ."
Jace looked skeptical.
"Jace, look. She was the only person outside of my family that knew about it, and is this close to Sebastian. I mean how many Verlac's are here in this region? Verlac's that come from Paris? She also used to work as the therapist of the school for a while. It got to be her. You know there are a lot of adults in this school that are related to Sebastian. That is how he got away with raping that poor girl, too."
"But it is illegal to talk about a patient's conversation with you, isn't it?"
"Yeah, I think we can sue the company."
"But that would only get Sebastian's aunt in trouble, not Sebastian himself."
Clary nodded. Jace seemed to understand Clary didn't only want to find how the information got leaked, but she also wanted Sebastian to get in trouble.
"We can file a reprt to police. We can find the girl's parents, and make a file and- and he will finally get what he deserves!" Clary said excitedly. The thought of Sebastian getting punished made Clary happy.
"Ok, then we will get in touch with the victim's family." Jace simply said, taking a bite out of his sandwich.
"We?" Clary asked surprised.
"Yeah, you didn't really think I would give up a chance of seeing that bastard gone, did you?" Jace replied, with a crooked smile.
Not a grin or a smirk.
A real smile.
Clary couldn't help but smile as she shook her head.
Clary looked at her reflection, trying to tame her wild hair as someone entered the bathroom.
Isabelle.
She lifted her head from her phone, slowly realizing the girl in front of her was Clary. She smiled kindly.
"Hey there." She said with a gentle voice. Clary panicked for a moment, it was as if she knew what was going on in Clary's life. But it looked as if she couldn't see Clary, she was under a daze.
She must have noticed Clary's worried glance, because an even bigger smile took over her face. She looked at her own reflection on the mirror, gently tacking a strand of black hair.
"It is just… Simon told me he loves me…" She said, looking happily at her phone.
At first Clary got confused. Didn't she already know that Simon was in love with her?
Then she realized that Simon was not a bold guy. She knew her best friend good enough. It probably took him plenty of time to get his courage and tell Isabelle about his feelings.
Clary smiled back at Isabelle, and squeezed her shoulder.
"It was about time."
"Mum." Clary entered the room, looking at her mother, painting. She was so used to this scene, watching her mother paint to music blasting through speakers, waiting for Chinese takeout that Luke was going to bring. For a moment she was happy. This was her definition of family. A perfect, small family.
Except it wasn't that perfect was it? There were secrets that weren't meant to be shared. Secrets that didn't seem like a big deal at first, but now got her in trouble.
She sighed as she made her way towards her room after realizing that Joceleyn was too invested in her painting to even realize that Clary was in the room.
Clary's phone screen lit up with a text message. She jumped onto her bed, checking to see if it was her best friend.
But it was a number she didn't recognize.
Number: Hellooo!
Me: Um hello, but who is this? 0_0
Number: U didn't recognize me? I am heartbroken!
Clary didn't need to think more to know who it was.
Me: Jace
Number: I actually like to be called the hot catch, but I guess I can forgive you this time ;)
Clary saved his number, but couldn't help but be interested in why he was texting her. They could solve all of this in school while they were face to face.
How did he got her number in the first place?
Jace: Isabelle gave me ur number btw, don't freak out and murder me D:
Clary was just going to live it at that, but then he was calling her, Facetime. Clary thought about declining the call, but they were partners in crime, nonetheless, and they were in it together, surprisingly getting along well.
So she took the call.
For about 3 minutes they talked about 'Sebastian Issues", but then slowly they began talking about different topics, and even though Clary wouldn't agree if someone asked her, she laughed at Jace's jokes for more then once.
Jace was also smiling, a real smile, the whole time.
