Jacob and Evie exited the house with Diane close behind after a vicious fight within when the trio suddenly stopped at the scene before them. Simon Fowler had a machine gun pointed at Rayna as she clutched Kairen desperately to her chest, but it was clear he was dead. Jacob clenched his fists angrily and made his way quickly forwards but Simon spotted them
"Stop!" he growled "surrender, or the girl dies too!"
Just then, a few injured Templars exited the basement flat behind the trio and another van skidded to a halt as more Templars jumped out from the vehicle, all trained their guns on the Assassins as they reluctantly held their arms up
"This is my fault" Diane whispered as she looked across at Rayna crying desperately into Kairen's dark hair
"Take them!" Simon growled
The Templars from the basement flat approached Evie and Diane and tied their arms behind their backs roughly
"You cowardly bastard..." Jacob growled at Simon as a pair of Templars secured his arms behind his back, Simon looked back at the Assassin as the four were led past him
"stop" he commanded the Templars who were leading Jacob towards the van
"You've caused me enough trouble..." Simon smirked as he looked at Jacob's scowl then suddenly, he aggressively drove the butt of his gun across the Assassin's temple, knocking him out.
It was Evie's turn to lash out then. She tried to land a vicious kick as she was dragged past Simon, but missed as she was pulled back by her captors, which also earned her a back hand across the face by the vicious head of security
"Oooh, you two are full of FIRE!" he taunted laughing as she was thrown roughly along with the others into the back of the van
"See that you don't get burnt..." Evie spat as she turned on her knees to face his cold grin
Simon scoffed and then looked at Diane as she was tossed onto the van
"And you Dr. Carter...how disappointing to see you side with terrorists...I guess the rumours about your son were true..." he grinned as he slammed the van doors shut.
Tensions were high as the scientists ran around the large room and rolled the bed below the great machine. Trudy looked at the monitors anxiously and then turned to Grandmaster Conri as he watched her from across the room
"On your command sir..." Trudy said to her brother
"do it!" he growled
Trudy looked at her assistants and nodded. Then, they started to enter information into the computers and the machine slowly started to power up. The Conri siblings looked on as a bright light started to materialise...
The captured Assassins were man-handled through the back entrance to the imposing Abstergo building and shoved into a large lift which made its way steadily upwards.
Evie looked around at the Templars who were pointing their guns at the three, then her eyes fell on the two that were holding her twin up. She was concerned that he was still unconscious, but at least the cut at his temple had stopped bleeding. Evie then turned her head to look at Rayna.
The young women's face looked completely devoid of emotion as her blood shot eyes stared forward at nothing and Evie wanted nothing more but to comfort her. Evie knew the pain of losing someone you loved in front of you...it ripped at your very core...
Evie's thoughts were broken as the group reached the desired floor and, once again, the group were man-handled through the bright white corridors and towards a large, metal door. It swished opened and one by one, the captives bonds were cut and they were thrust into the small cell.
After the door closed Evie immediately got to her feet and ran over to her twin, she pulled him onto his back and examined the cut across his head
"Jacob! Wake up..." she said as she gently slapped his cheek. He started to groan quietly and Evie gently placed his head to the floor, then she stood
"we have to find a way to get out of here" Evie commented as She looked over and crossed the floor towards Rayna
"Easier said than done" Diane sighed as Evie dropped beside Rayna. The young women sat against the wall with sad eyes focused on nothing
"We are finished" Rayna said sadly "and now...I'm the last of my brotherhood..."
"I'm sorry about Master Arden" Evie said softly "but he wouldn't want you to give up. You're not in this battle alone Rayna...not whilst Jacob and I draw breath…"
Fresh tears started to fall from Rayna's eyes
"I loved him...and now...he's gone..."
Evie placed a gentle arm around the young women and Rayna suddenly buried her head into Evie's shoulder as she wept
"I'm so weak" Rayna cried "and my weakness got him killed!"
"No..." Evie replied quietly, shaking her head
"Look at what you accomplished at my age!" Rayna continued as she wiped her cheek "you liberated London...where as I just hide behind a screen in fear..."
"No!" Evie said again louder "you're not weak. This era. The Templars. Their weaponry! It's unprecedented, and the fact that you are still here and fighting shows your true strength. Even the strongest of us feel fear..."
"Are you sure?" Rayna smiled as she wiped another tear away "You're brother doesn't seem frightened of anything"
"that's because he's a fool" Evie quipped
"I heard that..." Jacob groaned as Evie continued
"but no, that's not entirely true. Jacob has fears too, and they come in the form of tiny things with eight legs...if you can believe it" Evie grinned
Rayna's tears had stopped now as her smile widened
"he's scared of spiders?" she said laughing, thrilled to learn something so extraordinary about the pair she had idolized most of her life
Jacob sat up clutching his head "Don't listen to her Rayna, she's lying..." he groaned
"Now, now Jacob, I remember quite clearly the day I chased you around our house with that little spider I had found in father's study, you were most terrified"
"I was a child..." Jacob grumbled
"He wasn't..." Evie whispered and Rayna started to laugh
"That's better!" Evie said smiling as she took Rayna's hand "now, let's take a look at that arm..."
