Ch12

Waver had previously spied on the Matou residence so he knew the way there. He could see their pyramid in the distance as they rode to the Matou residence on the sphinx. "There it is," he said pointing to the gated building.

Rider only nodded and raised his staff and pointed it at the main gate of the building. The sphinx roared as it fired a blast of energy at the gate knocking it down. As they rode through the gate more sphinxes and other magical beasts joined them.

"It smells like blood here," he said as the scent of human blood and flesh entered his nose and making him want to vomit.

He saw a dark look on Rider's face as they burst through the door of the Matou residence, "There is foul magic here be careful," Rider said with a dark look. "Leave no stone unturned," Rider ordered the sphinxes. The beasts howled as they scoured the building. He and Rider searched the building and found a secret lair of some sorts.

After blasting down the entrance they descended into he depths of the building. He was about to get off the sphinx when Rider stopped, "Wait there is something not right here," Rider. Waver looked and saw a bunch of what appeared to be worms on the ground writhing around a young girl with purple hair.

He froze as he watcher her eyes which were dull as if she were used to whatever was happening. He nearly vomited, "Rider what are they doing to her," he whispered.

Rider looked at the display in disgust, "Those are crest worms what evil is happening here is an abomination," he snapped his fingers and smaller sphinx went up to the girl and let out a small flame. He was about to protest but he noticed that the only thing damaged were the worms.

The girl was completely naked and was unresponsive as the small sphinxes picked her up. "You fools!" came a voice from up above.

They looked up to see an old man with a bunch of insects around him, "You think you just come in here and destroy my work?" The old man roared.

"Foolish creature whatever abomination you did you will answer for it in the name of the Gods," Rider said as he snapped his fingers. A bunch of insects flew at them but the sphinx incinerated them and blasted at the old man.

The old man screamed in pain as a blast of fire hit him. "You are not worthy of my radiance begone insect," Rider said coldly as he blasted at the man who appeared to disappear in front of them.

"Rider we should get out of here," he said.

Rider nodded, "I have no clue what was going on here but as the representative of the Gods I cannot allow it to continue," he said as he snapped his finger and the sphinxes lit everything up in that dungeon.

The few insects and worms that tried to attack them were quickly killed. Rider left no stone unturned in that basement and he was surprised that the building did not collapse. When they left the house the Matou residence was up in flames. The sphinxes found some clothes for the girl who was starting to show signs of consciousness.

"Wh-Who are you people?" She asked softly.

He and Rider looked at her, "We are here to rescue you. Do you have any other family?" He asked softly feeling sorry for the girl.

The girl's face saddened, "Not anymore. I was told they aren't my family anymore. Uncle Kariya said that he would win so I can return to my sister and family," she said avoiding their gaze.

He felt a tug in his gut as he looked at the poor girl in front of him. Her family must have had two children and decided to give her away so that the other could inherit the family crest. It was something he knew about in the magical world but still the idea that a little girl could be subjected to that kind of torture was cruel.

"Girl as Pharaoh I will take you where you wish," Rider said in a soft voice. "You are a lovely child and deserve a happy future."

The girl looked up at Rider with a hopeful look, "I-I want to see Uncle Kariya and my sister. He promised he will come back here."

Rider nodded, "Then I will allow you to wait here with some guards," Rider said as some small sphinxes went up to play with her. The girl looked happy as she petted the sphinxes and he swore he saw joy in her eyes.

They then heard the sounds of sirens in the distance, "Rider we should go," he said. Rider nodded and they said farewell to the girl who introduced herself as Sakura. They waited until they saw some fire trucks approach the house until they returned back to the pyramid.

That was so gross he thought as he recalled that dungeon. Yet I hope she has a good future.

That night Waver was enjoying his nap when he found himself awoken by the sphinxes in his room. "Hey what are you guys still doing up?" he asked as he looked up and saw Rider standing in his room. "Rider what are you doing up so late?"

"Boy get up the night is tense and I feel that things will reach their end tonight," Rider said looking out of the window.

He nodded as he got up and quickly got dressed and went to the window with him, "Yeah there are a few of us left."

Rider nodded and that was when they saw a series of lights fly into the air. "Those lights are they signaling someone one?" Waver said in shock. They both went outside and saw the lights.

"It's a challenge, it appears that things will reach their end now," Rider said.

"So things will most likely end tonight," he said in shock.

Rider nodded and raised his staff in the air and a large sphinx came down from the pyramid. "Come boy, it is not my ship but this sphinx is probably one that I have raised since it was young," Rider said proudly. "What's wrong boy get on," he said as he noticed that he looked hesitant.

"This battle is only for the strong right?" He asked as he looked at the command seals on his hand. He closed his eyes as he felt a lump in his throat this is it he thought as he raised his fist at Rider. He knew Rider wasn't a person who liked to be ordered around but he knew that all good kings listened to the advice of their subjects. "Rider I Waver Velvet command you with this command seal to be victorious." He felt the energy of the command seal from his hand release before he continued with his next command. "Rider with this spell I order you to get the holy grail." Another command seal disappeared from his hand. "And by my final command spell," he resisted the lump through his throat as he continued. "Rider show the world the power of the pharaoh, let the world know of your might as you defeat all that oppose you. I will not tolerate failure."

And with that all of his command seals were gone. "There I am no longer your master and you have no further need for me," he said as he felt tears in his eyes and he fought the urge to cry. "Go on pharaoh, show the world your might," he said as he turned around.

However, he was surprised to feel himself get lifted by the sphinx and placed on his back. "Hey Rider what are you doing?" He asked in shock.

"After all those orders I cannot just sit idly and do nothing," Rider said with a sigh. "Usually I don't tolerate orders from others but I'll an exception with you. We have been through a lot and I hope to see this to the end with you so that you," Rider said with a sigh.

"Wait Rider I am no longer your master," he protested, he felt a rush of various emotions in him. "Why would you take me?"

"I am the pharaoh boy just because you are contracted to me does not mean that I will abandon my subject with or without command seals. Besides remember you are my subject and the scribe who will tell the world of my glory!" Rider declared as he pointed his staff to the sky. "How will you do that if you don't see this to the end?"

"You really don't mind a kid like me going with you?" He asked nervously tears falling down his face.

"Of course not boy. You have been of great help to me during my time here, it is only right for you to see me to my victory," Rider said. "You are not Moses but I consider you a treasured adviser, one that is irreplaceable and of great value. "Now boy get yourself together for you will witness my glory." Waver nodded as he cleaned his face on his sleeve. He wrapped his arms around the sphinx's next and soon they were off.

They road the sphinx through the night. He didn't ask Rider where they were going but he knew that Rider was riding with purpose. "Rider why don't we wait in your pyramid?" He asked

"As a pharaoh I cannot just sit by and wait while others take part in the fight. As a ruler I should be on the front line so that I can motivate my men," Rider said in a serious voice. "But don't worry boy. I have enough energy saved up for this final battle," he said with confidence. Waver looked at him and smiled as they continued to ride through the city on the sphinx.

However, when they made it to the bridge they felt the presence of another servant. His eyes widened as he saw Gilgamesh in full armor standing in front of them. He could tell from his eyes that this meeting would not be a friendly one.

"Pharaoh, nice seeing you here tonight," Archer said with a sigh.

"Likewise golden one," Rider said as they both dismounted the sphinx. "I take it you are here for more than wine this time?"

Archer sighed and nodded, "Nothing personal but my master has command sealed me to fight you," his expression and tone were grim and he could tell that this wasn't something he wanted to do.

"Well then how about one final drink before the night gets too dark?" Rider asked

Gilgamesh laughed, "You sure do know how to party. Fine this night is going to be long." Rider summoned a pitcher of wine and two cups and Waver filled them before giving one to each of them. Gilgamesh sighed as he drained the cup. "Good wine, I will miss these discussions Rider. For I did truly enjoy our time together; however things must come to an end," he said with a serious look on his face.

The two took a few steps back from each other and then stared at each other, they were both mighty men who had shaped the world of humanity and Waver knew that there was a chance that he would not make it out of here alive. But he knew that deep down he did not mind, he would see this to the end with his pharaoh.

Rider nodded and sighed, "Well then allow me to grace you with my greatest treasure," he said as he emitted a golden aura. Waver gulped as he stood behind Rider and watched Archer stand in front of them.

"As shall I," Archer said with a confident smile.

There was a bright light and when Waver opened he realized he was standing behind Rider. Except that they were floating. A reality marble he thought in surprise as he looked around in awe. Around them were various pyramids and other Egyptian style buildings.

"Rider, this is your noble phantasm? It looks different," He asked as he looked in awe at the structure which was now all around them.

"This is Ramesseum Tentyris," Rider said loudly. "Behold the manifestation of my glory," He declared as he pointed his staff at Archer and a series of lights and pyramids flew at Archer. "Look on my works Archer! The sun descends here, in our unlimited brilliance! Ramesseum Tentyris!"

Archer stood and removed a sword from his Gate of Babylon. "King of Kings, your works are mighty indeed. It was inevitable that we should cross paths. However, all things must come to an end and that includes your reign. He said as he lifted his sword. "Enuma Elish!" He said as he swung the sword down.

"Hold me tightly boy," Rider said loudly. Waver didn't have to be told twice as he gripped Rider and watched as the pyramids and structures were destroyed with a powerful blast. Waver felt his head from the attacks and he feared that he would be melted or worse as he closed his eyes and gripped Rider with all of his might. When he felt his feet on the ground and the cold night air again they knew it they were back on the bridge. His body was in shock but he noticed that Archer appeared to have suffered some minor damage from the attack. "Well that was a surprise. Waver Velvet my subject I have one more thing to ask of you."

"What is it?" He asked in surprise. Rider had never said his name before, he looked up at his eyes which had a fiery stare in them.

"As my subject and scribe you are to live. You are to tell everyone the story of me deeds. I order you to live your life to its fullest and never take yourself for granted. You are my subject and will always ever be, do not let other people make you question your worth for you are recognized by me Ozymandias. The greatest pharaoh of mankind," Rider declared as he got onto his sphinx. "Do not let others walk over you, always strive for your best. When we meet again in the afterlife I intend to know the full story of your journey, do not disappoint me," he said in a firm voice."

Waver felt tears form in his eyes as he nodded, "I will." He said as he watched Rider smile at him before turning to Rider.

It happened so quickly that he could not process it at first. Rider charged Archer while riding the sphinx. He fired various spells at Archer who in return fired various weapons at Rider. He watched in awe as their attacks hit each other. Some of Rider's attacks managed to hit Archer who appeared to be enjoying himself while he unleashed a furry of weapons on Rider. Killing the sphinx he was riding on and making Rider jump of it and roll to the ground in front of Archer. As he stood up Archer's chains grabbed his body before he could attack him. Waver then watched in horror as Gilgamesh dealt the final blow to Rider slashing him across the chest with his sword.

"Good job Pharaoh to think that I would have met a worthy opponent in this life; you have praise," Archer said in a soft tone.

Rider chuckled, "Likewise golden one, hopefully in the future we will meet again under more favorable circumstances."

Archer nodded, "I would like that." Rider chuckled one last time as his body slowly disappeared.

Waver watched in shock as he watched Rider slowly disappear into a cloud of golden dust. He couldn't believe or comprehend what he had seen. But the next thing he knew he saw Gilgamesh approach him. He didn't know or care if he were killed at that moment, all he felt was a numb sensation in his body as he slowly felt tears from in his eyes.

"Boy do you still see yourself as the master of Rider?" Archer asked in a calm tone.

He gulped down the lump in his throat as he forced himself to look Archer in his red eyes. They had the same gold regality to them but he noticed a shred of sympathy. "I am not his master and never was." He said through tears as he forced himself to speak. "I am his subject and scribe and he has ordered me to live on and tell of his glories."

For a second he did not know what would happen. He stared at Gilgamesh who only nodded. "Very boy, serve your pharaoh well and complete his wishes. A king such as myself cannot ignore a useful servant," he said as he turned around and disappeared into a cloud of golden dust.

When Archer had disappeared he was left on the bridge alone. He let out a cry as he fell to his knees and let the emotions in him flow out. Rider was dead and he was no longer a master. The man who saw hope and promise in him was gone from this world and so were his chances at winning.

In the end no one won the holy grail. Waver did not know what had happened exactly but he noticed the fire and explosion and forced himself to return home. The walk home felt like an eternity and he honestly thought that someone or something would kill him.

When he finally reached the McKenzie household it was morning but neither of his fake parents were awake.

He gulped as he looked at Rider's personal things that he had left in his room. His fancy shirts, sunglasses, and other personal objects were in his room. He did not touch them, he just left them where they were. He didn't even want to know how his teacher's family would take to him returning after finding out what had happened to him. I'll figure this out later he thought as he set the box down and fell onto his bed. He was tired and at that moment he really just wanted to rest.

The next few days all seemed to blur together for him. The McKenzies allowed him to stay and he took the time to organize his stuff along with the stuff Rider left behind. Rider left some of his personal belongings such as a few fancy button-down shirts and sunglasses. He carefully placed those items with the tablet he used to summon him as he carefully organized his belongings.

He planned to fulfill the wishes of Rider and live his life to his fullest. He organized his belongings and despite still feeling numb he knew that he could move forward with his life and honor Rider's memory.

As the days went by he got a message from a person claiming to be Saber's master that his former teacher's ashes and belongings were being held at a morgue. He knew it couldn't be a trap so he just went and picked up the ashes of his former teacher and fiancé along with some other mystic codes and other objects of value he left behind. He didn't know how he would return those things but he would find a way.

As the time for his departure from Japan approached he sat on his bed and sighed as he stared at the ceiling and thought of all that had happened in the war between him and Rider. I learned a lot about myself in this short amount of time, I feel like a different person he thought as he turned over in his bed. Either way I will follow Rider's commands he thought as he closed his eyes and fell asleep for a much needed rest.

As the years past things changed and Waver included. He sat as his desk in his office at the Clock Tower looking over some papers. It was ironic that he was no Lord El Melloi II and had taken the place of his former teacher that he had helped kill. He sighed as he took another puff of a cigarette as he thought of all the drama that led up to him being Lord El Melloi.

By the time he returned to the Clock Tower, everyone knew that Kayneth had been defeated by his hands. At first he was a little uncomfortable by the attention (there were a lot of wild rumors about what had happened to him ranging from weird to crazy). Needless to say a lot of people thought he was crazy and had it out for mages from big families. Thankfully his friend Melvin was still by his side and after he told his story was so intrigued by it that he convinced his family, along with some of his other friends to do their best to quell those rumors. Though he occasionally used those rumors to frighten a few students here and there but nothing much.

The Archibald family was pretty icy with him, and he expected it from them. Reines was the only one who really interacted with him and was friendly with him in comparison to other members of her family. They coldly took his teacher's ashes and had it not been for him returning some of his mystic codes and the remains of his mage crest (threatening to destroy them if they tried to kill him) he felt like they would have killed him on the spot or send someone after him had his friend Melvin and his family supported him.

But nevertheless, they still allowed him to take up the mantel of Lord El Melloi and he quickly proved his worth by organizing his former teacher's research. It was fairly ironic that Professor Archibald's least talented student and the one who caused his death took over his life's work.

He also studied Ancient Egypt in his free time and found it an interesting subject. He actually read a lot of books on Egyptian mage craft and found it pretty interesting to study even though he did not have the talent for it.

He looked at the box that contained the tablet he used to summon Rider. He kept it safe along with the other materials that Rider had left him. He looked at his watch class will start soon he thought. He quickly put out his cigarette and got ready for class. He still thought of the war occasionally but he would live on to fulfill Rider's wishes and live his life to his fullest.

"Well I guess I better get going now," he said as he looked around his office. He had a few Ancient Egyptian related stuff around his room and they looked pretty cool. He did not feel that much regret over how his life was going. He had his whole life ahead of him and he was not going to waste it. He was going to fulfill the wishes of Rider, his pharaoh.

AN: Well this is the end of this story. Thank you all for your support it has been fun.

Yeah as much as I like Ozymandias from what I researched Gilgamesh would still win, I hope the fight wasn't too underwhelming. I just wanted a simple fight between two rulers.

I decide to have Waver deliver the ashes of Kayneth and some of his mystic codes and stuff to the Archibald family because in canon they blamed Waver for Kayneth's death and well since he fought him directly in this story I imagine they would like him even less.

Anyway I would say Waver is more direct and less willing to put up with people's bs since he worked with Ozymandias.

Anyway thank you for your support. I don't know if I will write again in the fate series.
