Up country …
Stevie and Alex scout around the ramshackle old farmhouse.
They note a Ute with the bonnet up and on closer inspection discover it doesn't have a radiator so is unable to be driven.
There is no sign of Claire's car.
A few pieces of clothing on the line looked like they'd been there for some time.
"Maybe she's left already Stevie." Alex whispers.
"No she'll be here I'd bet he's got her car and that's why she rang you."
"She rang us Stevie."
Looking up at him she replies. "She rang your phone Alex not mine."
He gives her a funny look and shakes his head.
…
"Let's try the door then." Alex suggests.
Walking behind her he wonders if Claire is actually here.
Stevie knocks loudly and calls. "Claire answer the door."
They wait.
Alex puts his ear to the door.
"Hear anything?" Stevie questions softly.
Alex shakes his head.
Again Stevie knocks and calls.
Alex moves around to the back of the property.
Stevie knocks again "Claire open the door its Stevie and Alex."
Slowly the door creaks open.
Stevie recognizes the eyes but that's about all.
Pushing the door open Stevie holds up her arms and whispers. "It's ok Claire you're safe now we won't let him hurt you again."
With her head on Stevie's shoulder Claire sobs.
Alex walks back around to where the girls are and with a shocked expression on his face says." Holy hell."
Stevie hasn't acknowledged Alex's arrival as she stands tearfully willing strength to her friend.
Alex doesn't know what to do or say so he steps towards them and wrapping his arms around both states. "You're safe now Claire we're here and you're safe."
