Anna pulled up outside her mom's house and she took notice of Jax's bike in the driveway, along with Gemma's Cadillac. Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion when she noticed the clock on the dash. It was early in the morning and Anna had a million questions. She pushed open the back door to see Tara, Jax, Gemma, and Clay.
"What kind of family reunion is this?" Anna looked at the older woman.
Gemma sat there, her legs crossed and her hands rested in her lap.
"Just sit down." Gemma shot her daughter a stern look.
Anna slid into a chair besides Jax, taking notice of the missing patches on his cut. She turned her attention towards her mother.
Gemma cleared her throat to speak but the words came out choked at first.
"That night I was attacked." Gemma's eyes fell on Anna.
Anna listened to her mother intently as she looked between Tara and Gemma. As her mother explained what really happened, the energy in the room shifted. She watched Jax, tears forming in his eyes as he grabbed their mother's hands. Rage followed by sorrow took over the men and Anna could see it in both her brother's face and her step-father's.
Tara looked at Anna with apologetic eyes. The woman felt bad that she had to hide everything from Gemma's daughter but it wasn't her story to tell.
Anna rose to her feet and she moved to stand by her mother. She pulled the older woman into a tight hug.
"I'm sorry. I should've been here for you." Anna let out a breath.
"You would've never known." Gemma glanced at her daughter.
Anna held onto her mother a moment longer. Her mother was stronger than anyone she knew and this cemented that idea in her head. Anna knew it was her fault that she was kept in the dark. It was her fault that she had been pushed out but maybe deep down, she wanted the separation. Her own life outside of SAMCRO.
"Sorry to make you come out here." Gemma sighed.
"No no, it's okay." Anna offered a soft smile before she kissed her mother's cheek.
She was grateful that her mother had come clean with Clay and Jax and she watched as Clay embraced his wife for the first time in weeks. The dynamic changed in the room and Anna watched Jax as he grabbed his patches from the dish on the counter. Anna didn't mention anything but she had a feeling that things were about to come to a head.
Jax looked at Clay and they both knew revenge was the only option. The two started speaking in hushed tones, an attempt to stay silent around the women.
Anna grabbed her keys and a water from the fridge before she made her way to the door.
"I'll see y'all later." She waved as she moved through the door.
As Anna climbed into the car, a part of her felt a sense of calm, knowing that her brother would be sticking around a little longer in Charming.
A few days had passed since that night and things felt like they were back to normal for the most part.
Anna sat in a local diner, typing away on her laptop while she waited for her husband to show up. She was already off for the day and it was the only way the two could actually be alone for at least thirty minutes.
The bell above the door rang and she looked over her shoulder to see David walking towards her and a bright smile lit up her face.
"Fancy seeing you here." David winked at her as he slid into the booth across from her.
Anna rolled her eyes, closing her laptop and she looked over at her husband. She had been doing some research into leaving Charming, just to keep her options open.
"I see Jax had a change of heart." David stated while he took a sip of his coffee.
The woman pursed her lips and nodded her head.
"Yeah, for now, I guess." She shrugged her shoulders.
David wanted to push the subject but he could tell by Anna's actions that she didn't want to talk about it for much longer. Their meals came and the couple ate in silence until Anna's phone went off. Jax's name flashed across the screen.
"Jax?" She answered, her mouth full of food.
"You need to pick up Olivia and David and come to the clubhouse as soon as you can." Jax warned.
"Why?" Anna asked, concern laced in her voice.
"Because you'll be safer here than anywhere else." Jax told her.
She mulled it over. Surely David could keep his own family safe.
"Me and David will be fine." Anna rolled her eyes.
"Anna, come to the clubhouse." Jax demanded before he hung up the phone.
David looked at his wife with a questioning look.
"What's going on?" He asked.
Anna explained what Jax wanted and David was quick to agree.
"Just in case I can't make it home, I'd rather you be there, safe and sound." David told her as he leaned forward to grab her hand.
She inhaled a deep breath.
"I'll go pack us some clothes and I'll go get Olivia. When you get off work, come straight there." Anna squeezed his hand tightly.
Packing away her laptop, she pulled her keys from her bag and stood up, leaning down to press a kiss to David's lips.
"Love you. Stay safe." She whispered before moved towards the door.
Anna hopped in the car, waving to her husband who stood by the door before she sped out of the parking lot. A million thoughts were running through her mind about what was to come. When she arrived home, she tore through hers and David's closet, packing away just enough for a couple of days. She packed a few outfits for Olivia and repacked the diaper bag.
Each step she made, she went through a list in her head, making sure she didn't forget anything. Then she heard a motorcycle in the driveway. She moved towards the window, peaking out to see her brother's blonde hair shining in the sun.
Jax pushed the front door open, leaning against the door frame.
"What exactly is happening?" Anna looked over at her brother.
He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, unsure of how to explain it.
"Just know that you're gonna be safer at the clubhouse." He grabbed the duffle bag from the couch.
Anna went through the rooms, just to triple check she didn't miss anything before she picked up her purse and the diaper bag. She locked the door behind her and Jax climbed on his bike, pulling out into the street to follow her to Olivia's daycare.
When Anna pulled into the parking lot, she met Jo outside. Jo looked over to the man on the motorcycle before looking back at Anna.
"It's my brother." Anna explained, shifting Olivia's weight on her hip.
Jo nodded her head knowingly before she walked back inside the building.
"Jax!" Olivia looked over to see her uncle.
He waved at her with a soft smile before Anna buckled her in.
"We're going to be staying away from home for a few days." Anna explained as though her daughter understood what was going on.
She shot David a quick text before she climbed back into the driver's seat. Their next stop was Teller-Morrow.
