Note: How does everyone feel about the story? I kinda feel rushed when I write stuff like this, so I hope that you enjoy it regardless of how fast I write. I'm just going to let chapter thirteen arrive.

Chapter 13: The Job

Lexi walked down the street, holding a piece of paper in her hand. During her walk, she could see that people were looking at her in confusion. The rabbit ignored their faces, seeing as she was going to get a job.

If I could read their minds, Lexi surmised in her mind, their thoughts would say some pretty unpleasant things about me.

After a few minutes of walking, Lexi found herself at an office building. She entered it and began to walk up the lone staircase in the room. There were roughly sixty floors in the building, but that didn't stop the rabbit from walking through it. When she was on the thirtieth floor, Lexi saw a room that she would become accustomed to: the editor's room. She then knocked on the door, only to be greeted by an Arctic fox with shoulder length hair and turquoise eyes. The fox was dressed in a violet business suit.

"Yes?" The white fox looked at Lexi.

"I'm here for the journalist job." Lexi said.

"Oh," the vixen said in her Estuary English accent, "come on in, then. Mr. Roman will be here in a few minutes."

"Thanks," Lexi said as she walked into the room, "what's your name?"

"Diane McAllister, and you?" The fox spoke.

"Lexi Bunny." The rabbit answered.

"Nice to meet you," Diane said, "I'll leave you alone so that you can talk to Mr. Roman."

"Okay." Lexi said before Diane left the room. After that, an owl walked into the room. He was wearing a white t-shirt, suspenders, jeans, and dress shoes.

"Are you Mr. Roman?" Lexi asked.

"Mr. Alexander Roman," the owl said, "and you?"

"I'm Lexi Bunny." The rabbit answered.

"Why are you here?" Mr. Roman asked.

"I want to be a journalist for the Daily Press." The young woman said.

"For what department?" The owl asked.

"Can I be a journalist who covers the environment?" Lexi asked.

"I don't see any problem with that." Mr. Roman said.

"Why?" She asked.

"There aren't a lot of journalists who cover the environment in large newspapers like this one." He said.

"I guess that I'm doing something unusual and rare, aren't I?" Lexi asked.

"To put it bluntly, yes." The owl answered.

"When do I start?" The rabbit asked.

"As soon as you publish your first article." He said, "Can you show me your resumé?"

"Sure." She handed Mr. Roman the piece of paper that she had been holding prior to her arrival. The owl looked at it, seeming amused when he reached the references.

"You have a lot of references for a simple resumé." He noted.

"Is that bad?" Lexi asked.

"No." Mr. Roman said, "I guess that I should let you go so that you can write your article."

"Okay, I'll show you my article when I get done with it." Lexi said prior to leaving.

"Okay, bye!" Mr. Roman said.

A week later, and Lexi had finished the article she was writing. The article was about how the forest was in danger of being vandalized. Lexi had visited the forest to take a few pictures for proof in the article, so she killed two birds with one stone. The rabbit took the finished article down to the Daily Press offices, where she handed it to Mr. Roman.

"Interesting." The owl said, "We might have to edit it in some areas, but it's well-written."

"Do I get paid for it?" Lexi asked.

"I'll hand you your paycheck at the end of the week." Mr. Roman answered, "Now get out of here, Miss Bunny."

Lexi did as she was told, taking the elevator to the main room of the building. As she walked out of the building, the rabbit felt happy to relieve boredom for the week.

I wonder what Baloo will say when I tell him that I got a job. She thought to herself, Does he have a job as well? Maybe I'll ask him when he comes back.

Lexi walked back to her house, sitting down on her bed. She couldn't help but feel relaxed. After all, Baloo was coming back with his friends next week.

Note: I know what all of you are thinking about Diane: Is she Krystal in disguise? Actually, no. Diane is more or less a Loonatics OC of mine who is based on Krystal. After all, I have a Star Fox OC based on Lexi Bunny. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
