Chapter 15
-Shirakawa Village-
-Narrator-
It is halfway through the evening and the old Kamaji is making his way toward the hunters' cabin to ask Mitsue about his hunting session with the eccentric duo.
He turns around a corner and sees Kotai pouting outside the cabin with a cloth on his knees.
The young boy's expression lightens when he takes notice of the chief's presence. "Hello again old sir!" He chirps happily.
The old man smiles. "Hello Kotai-kun, what are doing here all alone?"
The albino's pout comes back as he knocks at the door. After a moment, it opens and, as Kamaji's eyes widen yet again, a small girl covered in blood greets them. "Yes?" She asks before taking a nonchalant expression, leaning on the doorway. "The chief is blessing little old me with his presence." The old man looks lost. "For the second time in only one day, what a performance." She adds sarcastically.
This seems to put the old man out of his trance. "You really need to be this messy with whatever you found?" He wouldn't be surprised if she had taken a bite.
"I'm not messy, this big idiot just had a lot of blood." She gestures for him to follow.
He hesitantly does and his eyes lay upon the bear's carcass, or what remains of it. "W-w-what?" He stutters.
Mitsue's head pops from behind the body with a big smile. "Old Kamaji, we will finish preparing it in half an hour, but we will need the help of the others to cook it. We need to celebrate!" He, also covered in blood, exclaims happily.
Kamaji tries to regain his composure. "Of course, I-I will go right away." He stutters as he hurries to get out of the bloody cabin.
"You see what I mean." The young boy waiting outside suddenly sighs.
The elder nods. "Yes." He makes his way toward the habitation. "I will see you later." He looks at Kotai from over his shoulder.
The albino plays with what is on his knees. "Come back soon!"
As the chief is disappearing around the corner, the door opens again and the bloody knight walks out. "So... How was your hunt?"
Kotai pouts at that. "It was really short."
Kamui raises an eyebrow. "And why that?" She already have an idea about the reason for the session's shortening.
"You know, a bear roar coming from where you went and a panicking Mister Mitsue." He says sarcastically.
The girl smiles internally. "I am really sorry." She answers with an exaggerated bow. "I will take you hunting next time." She offers.
"Will we hunt a bear?" He asks in wonder.
The petite knight shakes her head. "No. If I hunt a bear every week, it will destroy the ecosystem."
"Why?" Kotai tilts his head.
She passes her hand through her hair. "I will explain when you will be older."
"Why?" He repeats.
Kamui frowns. "Because I am lazy you ungrateful brat." She says in mock anger.
As they playfully banter, Mitsue chuckles while finishing to sort the meat into boxes.
-Twenty Minutes Later-
A dozen of women and some young lads are now accompanying Kamaji to prepare the beast caught by Kamui.
The old man knocks on the door and this time it is Mitsue who opens the door. "You are back so soon old Kamaji?" He turns around. "Emiya! They are here."
"Thank you Captain Obvious." The cooking team hear from inside.
The young man looks back at the group. "Wait a minute please." He disappeared inside. "Watch out!" Mitsue suddenly yells.
A walking pile of boxes makes its way out of the door. "There is nothing to worry about." The knight puts down the meat next to the guests. "Hi." She simply says.
Kotai follows her example and grabs a box. "I am coming!" He zigzags toward the door, almost running into Mitsue.
"Kotai-kun? Weren't you afraid of blood?" The old chief asks.
The albino turns toward him. "Not blood, but I don't like seeing the insides." He shivers at the thought.
But before anyone can take a crate of meat, two black haired cannonballs collide with the old man. "Old man Kamaji!" The twins exclaims happily.
Their mother, Yua, arrives breathless next to the others. "Aiko, Aimi, please stop bothering the chief." She gently unwraps them from the old man.
"There are not bothering anyone, Yua." He pats the twins.
The black haired woman sighs nervously. "Thank you Kamaji-sama."
It is his turn to sigh. "I told you countless times before, there is no need to be this nervous all the time." He smiles at her. "I am not going to do anything to you."
She nods slowly but before she can say anything. "Have you finished." The bloody girl asks, leaning on the crates. "Because I need all of you to help us carrying all the meat." She grabs two of them. "I would be a good idea to be by pair for each box."
As she starts making her way toward the village's place, the young lads talk to themselves. "Surely she meant two boxes for each of us, right?" "If this child can do it, I can too."
They approache the crates and when they try to lift one of them. "Oof." They can barely detach them from the floor. "Is this some kind of joke?"
Mitsue passes next to them, carrying a crate with the help of his mother. "Come on guys, Emiya is waiting for us!"
The guys, looking lost, silently take their crates.
-At the Village's Place-
Kotai and his guardian soon reach the center of their hometown.
"Aaaah..." The albino breathes out after putting down his box.
The knight looks at him with a raised eyebrow. "You were able to take one by yourself?"
The boy looks proud of himself. "You are amazed, are you not?"
The petite girl opens the crate. "It is empty." She states with a blank look.
The boy nervously chuckles while scratching the back of his head. "I guess you are not amazed then."
She only rolls her eyes at that. "You can bring our new little room-mate inside the house since you are so afraid of meat." Kamui mocks him.
"I will do that." He walks away pouting, meeting the struggling lads in the middle.
They look at him like if he was an alien, even if they don't know what it is. But it does not seem to trouble him, he is only thinking about his nameless hedgehog.
While the albino was taking care of the animal, the cooking crew finally arrives next to the blonde girl. But before the breathless lads could say anything, she was already opening the crates.
The guys all share a look before going toward the petite girl's packages. They open them and what they find is... meat. They all turn in the direction of the knight with wide eyes as she ignores them, planning the cooking of the bear.
More than half of the village is preparing for the feast and the women, Kamui included, are all preparing the meals with the help of the lads.
The knight is currently tasting the mushrooms she found to make sure these are not poisonous under the eyes of a worried Yua. "You should not touch the mushrooms, they are dangerous."
Kamui looks at her with a mushroom sticking out of her mouth. "Don't worry." She simply answers.
Another woman approaches them and gives a grave look. "Young girl, can I speak to you?" Before the petite girl can open her mouth, the woman keeps on speaking. "Your clothing is not appropriated for a girl like you." She lectures her.
A tick mark appears on Kamui's face, she is wearing a black tank top covering everything needed to be covered and baggy pants the same colour. To protect the clothes, a originally white apron is hugging her body. "First of all, I am not a girl." She says looking up at the talker woman.
But she is interrupted. "Do not think that I am stupid, if you were a boy, you wouldn't have curves, as small as they are."
"I am eighteen." All the people who were close enough to hear that look at her in surprise. "Now go the fuck out of my sight." She shooes the women with her hand while sorting the mushrooms.
Mitsue appears behind her with a raised finger.
"Yes I am really eighteen." She says, focusing on the shrooms.
The young man lowers his finger while backing away.
After that incident, everything goes smoothly and after three hours of a paranoiac Kamui making sure everyone knows how to cook, she washes her head and hands along Mitsue. She won't allow a dish prepared by an Emiya to taste bad.
And finally, they can now eat. All this meat only waiting to be eaten, what a pleasant thought.
She is seating next to her ward, who joined them in the middle of the cooking. The knight made sure he was playing with the twins and an eight years old boy with very light green hair named Raiden. Despite being the older of the bunch, the greenette was the most timid of them all, which was amusing since he is incredibly tall for his age, he is a head taller than the seven years old albino.
Sitting next to Kotai is Aiko, who is sitting next to her sister, and then Mitsue. There are sitting in a round table which means that the knight is across from the young man.
She grabs her chopsticks and wait for the other sitting on her table to do the same. "Itadakimasu!" They say before digging into there plates, Kamui eating extremely fast, which worried Mitsue.
Let's just says that all the villagers now know about the new sassy small girl who lives alone with her 'little brother'.

VGBlackwing: For Artoria, her growth was stopped by Caliburn, and after it was destroyed, she was given Excalibur and Avalon. And Avalon replaced the non-aging magic of Caliburn. Also I planned a fight between Ryoma and Kamui Emiya in the future. ;P
