Chapter Thirty-One: Sweet Home Again

Normal Pov.

Lindsey and Alice were found. "Over here!" Someone shouted.

The two were found and taken to the hospital.

Carol was called right away and waited for them to awaken.

"What happened to them?" She asked.

"They aren't hurt. Just tired. I'll wake up very soon and can go home the next day." He said. "If they don't wake we'll run more tests."

Carol nodded.

She waited in the room with Alice.

Lindsey awoke first. She could see on the other side of the room, Carol and Alice. Carol pacing the floor while Alice was still out.

Was it all a dream? Or was it all real?

Lindsey thought about everything that happened, Jack being a prince, meeting the Mad Hatter, running from the Hare, facing the queen of hearts, and the ring...

Yup, everything seemed very real.

"Alice." Carol spoke up. Lindsey made her way to the next room. "He's gone." Alice spoke.

"Who?" Carol asked. "Dad."

Lindsey was quiet. That was right. Alice lost her dad. He was shot and killing. Protecting Alice.

Carol held Alice as she wept in her mother's arms. Lindsey slowly walked in. "Alice?"

"Lindsey!" Alice help out an arm and Lindsey walked over and hugged her.

Carol left to get the doctor and paperwork to get them both out.

"Was all that real?" Alice asked.

"I believe so. I'm so sorry." Lindsey said.

"That's okay." Alice said. "At least, we are home. It's over."

"Yeah." Lindsey said.

But would they really miss it?

After Alice and Lindsey talked with the doctors and the police, Carol took both girls home.

They arrived and Alice did the first thing, was cleaning out her fathers things. She put up everything after she found him, and knew she'd never see him again.

"What's all this?"

"Time to move on. I don't need to look for him anymore." Alice said.

"I'm sure, this is a good thing. For all of us." Lindsey said.

Carol nodded. "I'm glad. He will be missed." She said. Suddenly there was a buzz. "Oh! I forgot. The worker who found the both of you wanted to come by and see how you girls were doing. Very sweet." Carol said and left.

As Alice put away the last things, she found the old story book of Alice in the Looking Glass.

"Wow. All of it was real." Lindsey said.

"Yeah. And we'll never see them-"

"I believe we will. Come on. You think Jack is going to give up on you that easy? And Hatter...he said we could do pizza. I mean that would be enough for me." Lindsey smiled.

"Alice! Lindsey! Come meet David."

Alice chuckled and headed out. Lindsey took a moment, "Hatter?!" Realizing she said his first name. Could it be?
