Thank you all so much for the overwhelming amount of reviews! Y'all made my week and receiving so much feedback has made me so happy! :)

Writing this chapter has been a real challenge for me and made me cry more than once, but I hope this can give an insight as to what has caused Callie to react the way she did in the past.

A special thanks goes out to a friend of mine who helped me brainstorm and develop these ideas. I couldn't have done it without you, so thank you! You know who you are :)

Warning: This subjects contains suicidal thoughts and actions.

A fear Arizona had never known had struck her and made her heart race with anxiety. Her heart had dropped to the floor, seeing her girlfriend standing so close to the edge, only a step away from falling. She had stood there motionless, almost paralyzed, and the wind had blown strongly, almost as if it had tried to push her back from the cliff. Arizona had fought against the wind, the willingness to save her girlfriend and her unborn child being stronger than any doubt, any fear or any obstacle in her way. The blonde had never run so fast and her heart had never raced and pounded quite like this, but the woman she loved had been in the greatest danger of her life and needed her girlfriend to save her. Right now, right there, before it was too late, and she would lose her forever. With each step, the clouds had darkened more and the wind had shown a storm was coming and about to hit them. There hadn't only been a storm raging in their hearts, but also around them and Arizona had known she needed to get there, get there fast, get there before Callie would lose her life to something they could get through together, as a couple. Arizona had screamed loudly, the pain in her voice unbearable, yet Callie hadn't heard her. She couldn't hear, couldn't think, couldn't speak. Her feet brought her closer, until only one step was missing for her to fall, fall fast and deep, falling somewhere she could never get out of alive. Callie closed her eyes, her feet taking the last step as her body leaned forward, ready to fall, and when she had, there was no going back. She was falling, her body losing all of its control, yet no scream, no sob or painful groan escaped her mouth. Callie had fallen in silence, causing Arizona to fall to the ground, the most heart wrenching screams escaping her lips and filling the air.

"CALLIOPE! NO!!"

The world had stopped spinning and a bubble of shock had surrounded her. A bubble she could never get out of. It had felt like a wave taking her under, surrounding every part of her broken body. It was as if her body tried to protect itself, but the damage had already been done. The heartbreak she had once known, even the heartache she had felt only minutes ago, couldn't compare to how she was feeling now. Her entire life and her world had crumbled, leaving her on her hands and knees with tears streaming down her face. Indescribable guilt filled her body the second Callie had jumped, but what had followed had been the worst pain of her life. The blonde's heart had shattered into a million pieces, and she had known that from this moment on, she would never be the same again. Arizona used to be a joyful person, a person who had always tried to see the good in things, but there had been nothing good in her girlfriend jumping off a cliff. She had been someone who enjoyed life to the fullest, but without Callie by her side, she could never be happy again. Her heart had fallen for her, fallen hard for a woman so much younger than her, but if she could, Arizona would turn back the time to react differently to her pregnancy. The blonde would have stayed regardless of the shock taking over her entire body. If she could, she would take her girlfriend into her arms and hold her close until her tears had dried and her heart had calmed down, but she couldn't. Callie was gone and she would never come back. Arizona had known she had lost her. She had lost her because she left her all by herself in one of the darkest moments of her life, not caring to look back at least once to make sure she was okay because her own pain had been more important than that of her lover. The blonde had made a mistake she could never forgive herself for, no matter how hard she would try.

Tears of pain had streamed down her face uncontrollably and the pain inside her had made her unable to breathe. The pain had overwhelmed her and changed her life instantly, the realization of what had just happened causing her to scream. Her screams had sounded like someone had stabbed her alive, but that was exactly what it had felt like. It had felt like someone had repeatedly stabbed her in her heart and left her bleeding out. Arizona had screamed Callie's name so many times, it had caused her to lose her voice and to sob quietly. It was as if someone had paralyzed her from the waist down, leaving her unable to walk over to the cliff. She had been too terrified of the moment she would have to see Callie's lifeless body laying at the bottom of the cliff. With low whimpers still escaping her lips, it was as if she had heard a gentle voice comforting her. It was as if the cold breezes had spoken to hear as she had sat there on her knees, not understanding what had happened. When the voice had become louder, blue eyes had snapped open and listened for a moment.

"Arizona."

It couldn't have been Callie. She had fallen down the cliff and would never get up again.

"Arizona, please!"

The voice was growing louder.

"Arizona, please...please don't leave me."

Arizona's eyes widened, not believing her ears. The voice she thought she'd never hear again had screamed for help, her voice thick with fear and shock. The blonde had never expected her heart to find a purpose to beat again, but hearing her voice had filled her heart with hope and gave her the strength to stand up and run towards the edge of the cliff. Looking down, Arizona had seen Callie, her beloved girlfriend and the woman she thought she had lost, barely hanging on. Her sleeve got caught on a stick on the edge of the cliff and had kept her from falling down. The Latina had tried to stay still, but her feet had moved back and forth in order to get closer to the cliff, but it had only caused the stick to start cracking. The blonde's eyes had widened in shock and her heart had started racing when she realized Callie was alive and not dead.

Arizona's eyes had filled with heavy tears as she bent down to offer Callie her hand. "Calliope! Oh god, Calliope!"

The woman who had lost any hope of being saved looked up at Arizona and started crying like she never had before. "Pull me up, pull me up!"

"Take my hand, honey. Take it!" Arizona begged, reaching out for her hand and this time, she had been able to take it.

The blonde wrapped her hand around Callie's and used all of her strength to pull her up as the wind had blown hard against her body. The Latina squeezed the blonde's hand tightly and felt her pulling her up, but noticed how much she had struggled as the tears had streamed down her cheeks.

"Hold on, baby. Please...please don't let go!"

Fear had filled the Latina's body. If she let go, the only one holding her and preventing her from falling down would be Arizona. "I'm s-scared."

"Y-you can trust me. I...I won't let go." Arizona cried out, not believing what kind of situation they were in. "Give me your other hand."

Feeling and hearing the stick cracking more, Callie had freed her hand by wiggling and pulling and gasped when Arizona's other hand had come in contact with her own. The blonde used all of the strength left in her body and pulled her all the way up until her legs had touched the edge.

"Oh god." Arizona breathed heavily and crawled back to get Callie away from the terrifying edge. "Calliope. I…I thought I lost you."

Callie had stared at her, but no words had come out of her mouth, just like they hadn't when Arizona had walked into her apartment and had asked her what was wrong. All of the pain the Latina had felt before jumping had come back and made her understand why she had jumped. Arizona had left her and now she was here to save her, but her leaving had caused her to walk away and to feel like her life was over. It had taken both of them to get her pregnant, but Callie had felt so alone when she left and after all, she shouldn't have. Before Arizona had realized what had happened, Callie had stood up and walked past the blonde to leave, but she couldn't let her go again, so she grabbed her wrist and caused the brunette to turn around.

"L-let me go." Callie said, her voice breaking and her eyes filling with heavy tears.

"No, I...I can't." the blonde cried, getting up from the ground. "I thought I lost you, Calliope. I...I thought you were dead."

"You left. You left...ugh...me alone."

Arizona couldn't take the distance between her and her girlfriend, so she pulled her towards her and wrapped her arms around her. "I'm...I'm sorry. I'm so...s-sorry."

"Get off...please get off!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Calliope."

Callie fought hard against the blonde, trying to escape her embrace, but she hadn't let her. Instead, Arizona pulled her even closer, not letting her go.

"LET ME GO!" Callie screamed, trying everything in her power to get the stronger woman off.

Tears had streamed down the blonde's cheeks when she realized just how badly Callie had needed to get away from her. "I'm here. I won't leave, Calliope. I'm so sorry."

"You already left." the brunette cried, but slowly lost her strength to fight back.

"I know, but I will never leave again. Neither you…" the blonde said softly, letting her hand slide against the younger woman's belly. "...nor the baby growing inside you."

Something about Arizona's words had sent a stinging pain through her body, causing her to let out a loud cry. A cry that had sounded so heart wrenching and terrifying, the blonde had started crying harder than ever before. She had felt guilty, heartbroken and overwhelmed with what had happened between her and Callie and her soul couldn't comprehend how her entire life had changed within a day, leaving them at the edge of a terrifying cliff no one should ever get close to. Callie's body had given up fighting, her body being too weak to resist her arms or to push her away. The Latina had had a hard time believing she had almost lost her life today, but there had seemed to be no way out and no possibility to make her life make sense again.

As the wind had begun to blow harder, Arizona pulled back and stared deeply into Callie's eyes, but the sparkle inside them was nowhere to be found. Her once brown eyes appeared to be nothing more than icy, colored marbles, staring into her soul. Arizona's blood had drained from her face, making her feel utterly lost and hopeless about anything ever going back to how it used to be. The blonde had never seen her girlfriend this way and it scared her. It scared her so badly, it made her feel nauseous. Arizona had deeply regretted leaving Callie alone, the guilt almost eating her alive. Almost losing Callie had been the most frightening, most painful thing she had ever had to go through and she had known there was a lot they had to talk about, but now wasn't the time. Arizona had needed to get her home, bring her to a safe place, a place where her heart and soul could find rest. With emotions overwhelming and taking over the blonde's body, she grabbed Callie's face with both of her hands and felt her body starting to tremble, another wave of pain making its appearance.

"Don't give up on me, please." Arizona sobbed. "Don't give up on yourself and our relationship."

Callie had tried to speak, her mouth opening and closing repeatedly, but no words had come out of her mouth, letting the blonde know she hadn't had the strength to talk. Taking this as a sign, the blonde had gently placed one of her arms against her back and grabbed her legs with the other, picking her up. The Latina would have never let her carry her and would have protested for Arizona to let her down, but instead, she had leaned her head against the blonde's shoulder and felt her starting to move, carrying her away from the cliff, carrying her to her car.

You've been walking alone for so long

And you've been building a wall around your heart

But I promise there is a light at the end of this long night

This time I know you'll be alright 'cause I'm standing at your side

'Cause when you feel like you've been falling

Hold on to me

Ooh, hold on to me

Ooh, hold on to me

The closer they had gotten to the car, the more people had seen them and stared at Arizona carrying the woman in her arms. No one had been around when she had needed help pulling her girlfriend up, but now it had almost been crowded. At least that was what it had felt like. Callie had buried her head in Arizona's neck and held onto her with one of her hands being wrapped around her shoulder. Without the blonde, Callie would have been dead by now, her lifeless body laying on the bottom of the cliff. The thoughts of what could have happened if she weren't there had almost driven the blonde crazy, but for the sake of her girlfriend, she had tried not to freak out. Arriving at the car, Arizona pulled her keys out of pocket and opened the door to the passenger seat. The brunette sighed, clinging to the woman she loved. Feeling the strength in her arms starting to fade, Arizona pushed them against the car softly.

"Hold on to me." Callie begged, tears running down her cheek.

The blonde leaned down to place a kiss against her girlfriend's forehead. "I will hold you as long as you want me to."

Callie had never needed to be held so badly in her life. Strong arms had been the only reason she had been able to hold on, hold on to her life and her relationship. What had happened today could never happen again, and they both would have to have a long conversation to get through this dark path of their life together. The two women had closed their eyes, feeling each other close for a moment. The blonde could smell Callie's scent and took a deep breath, trying to take it all in while the Latina had dug her fingers into her skin, needing to feel her closer.

"Get a room. That's nasty." a stern voice said, pulling them out of their much-needed moment together.

Arizona had turned around and glanced at a young man who had thought it was necessary to interrupt them. If looks could kill, the man would have dropped dead to the ground. "Shut the fuck up, you moron!" the blonde hissed, not giving a shit about being polite.

"Woah, calm down, lady."

Trying to protect her girlfriend from any more pain, the blonde sat her down on the passenger seat and shut the door. Glancing at the man one last time, Arizona had walked around the car and opened the door to the car, quickly sitting down next to her girlfriend and closing the door. Callie had sat there motionless, her eyes staring into the distance, the shock of what had happened still buried deep inside her. A few tears had run down the blonde's cheeks when she leaned over her to fasten Callie's seatbelt to keep her safe. Driving away from the place she had used to love, more tears had streamed down her face, making her vision become blurry. Arizona had quickly wiped them away to prevent herself from missing a car and possibly crashing into it. The drive had been quiet, neither one of them daring to say a word, but maybe silence was what they had needed. No, it couldn't have been. They needed to talk, needed to sort things out and find out what to do next. Together, as a couple, as one flesh, as one union. The urge to say something had grown inside the blonde with each passing second, causing her to squeeze the steering wheel tighter. Just when she wanted to open her mouth, she had heard Callie's voice echoing in the quiet car, causing her eyes to widen.

"I can get an abortion, if that's what you want."

"WHAT!? NO!" Arizona yelled in shock, but noticed Callie flinching when she raised her voice. "I'm sorry." she said, lowering her voice. "It's...it's your body, but I don't want you to have an abortion. That's my…my baby in there."

The blonde let one of her hands slide against the Latina's belly, but Callie had pushed her hand away the second she had touched her. "Please, don't. I'm not...ready."

"I'm sorry."

Arizona had chosen not to drive back to Callie's apartment, but to her own instead. She hadn't wanted her girlfriend to be confronted with the positive pregnancy tests again, so she had driven them to her place. The rest of the drive had been awfully quiet, but it had been best to give Callie the space she had needed. Arizona had known her well enough to know when it was appropriate to talk and touch her, but it hadn't been the time during their car ride. Opening the door to her apartment, the blonde reached out for her girlfriend's hand and waited anxiously for her to take it. Callie looked down to where her hand had been and hesitated for a moment, but decided to take it. Arizona sighed and led her inside. The apartment was quiet, peaceful almost, and for the first time after finding out she was pregnant, Callie allowed herself to take a deep breath. The soft air filled her lungs and even though it had only felt like a single drop of water on a hot day, it had made her relax a little.

"Do you want to lay down in bed?" the blonde asked, never having felt so nervous to ask a question.

Callie nodded and turned around to walk towards the bedroom, but Arizona had stopped her. "Wait."

Wrapping her arms tightly around her girlfriend, a loud sob filled the air. "I love you."

The Latina had heard her, but she had been too weak to let herself feel anything or to say it back. Pulling back slightly from the hug, Arizona let her head rest against Callie's. "I love you."

Needing to be closer to the brunette, the blonde let her lips brush against her mouth. "I love you...I love you...I love you."

"Please just hold me." Callie sighed, barely getting the words out.

"Come with me."

Leading her to the bedroom had never felt like this before. Whenever Arizona had brought her girlfriend to bed, they had made out and ended up sleeping with each other, but it had been the furthest thing from their minds today. Arizona had held her tightly on their way, making Callie feel protected and taken care of. When the blonde had laid her down gently on the bed, she slowly opened the zipper of her jeans and pulled it down, making Callie arch her eyebrows.

"I'm giving you something more comfortable to wear." the blonde explained. "Can you lift your blouse for me?"

It had taken a moment for Callie to give her an answer, but a simple yes had been enough to reassure her she had still felt comfortable enough to undress in front of her. With the blouse over her head, the Latina had sat up and lowered her head before Arizona sat down next to her and let her hands slide against her back to open her bra. The brunette had let out a whimper when she felt her girlfriend touching her, but allowed her to continue until she had sat there with only panties on while the blonde had tried to find something to wear.

"Here, put this on, sweetheart." Arizona said, a small smile on her face as she handed her a pair of sweatpants and a comfortable long sleeve shirt.

"T-thank you." the brunette said and got dressed slowly.

Arizona smiled at her again and turned around to grab herself something else to wear when Callie suddenly sounded scared and panicked. "Don't leave me, please!"

"Hey, I'm not going anywhere, Calliope. I'm right here. I'm just putting my pajamas on."

"I...I can't, I can't...Ari-Arizona." Callie sobbed, her heart racing all over again.

Dropping her clothes to the ground, Arizona had walked over to the brunette and crawled on top of the bed to hold her. "Shhh, you're going to be fine, honey. We're going to be fine." the blonde whispered, stroking Callie's hair softly.

"I've got you, Calliope. You're safe with me."

The couple had laid back on the bed and Arizona had held her, held her so tightly, she couldn't escape her arms, even if she wanted to. The blonde could almost hear the Latina's heart pounding in her chest, but her own breathing had calmed Callie down and made the tears stop running down her cheeks. They had stayed this way for a while, but when Arizona looked down to say something, she had noticed her girlfriend had fallen asleep. Her face had softened and her breathing had become slow and steady, calming the blonde's nerves. At that moment, Arizona had realized how lucky she had been to be able to hold her tonight and to have her in her arms. Thinking back to what had happened a few hours ago had caused anxiety to rise inside her body and the realization of what her life would have looked like if Callie had died had hit her hard. She would have lost the love of her life if her sleeve hadn't caught on the stick. Almost having lost her made Arizona understand that nothing and no one could ever make her give up or stop loving Callie. No one had ever made her feel like she had and the baby growing inside her was just the cherry on top of the pie, even though they could have timed it better. It hadn't taken long for the blonde to feel so tired, she couldn't keep her eyes open anymore. A few minutes later, she had fallen asleep.

"No! No, help me!"

"I don't want to die...help me! Please!"

The blonde had awoken to loud and terrifying cries. At first she had thought her own dream had woken her up, but when she opened her eyes, she realized it was Callie screaming next to her. Her eyes had been slammed shut, her body squirming next to her and loud sobs and screams escaping her lips. It had broken Arizona's heart to see her girlfriend suffering like this.

"C-Calliope. Hey...honey...wake up, sweetie." the blonde begged, shaking her softly.

"Sweetheart, you're dreaming. Wake up."

When Callie opened her eyes, heavy tears streamed out of them. Her heart had beaten so fast, she thought she was about to throw up again and the anxiety inside her had almost eaten her alive. Not being able to lay down any longer, Callie had sat up on the bed and breathed heavily. Arizona had immediately sat up too and stroked her back softly.

"Shhh, you're fine, baby. It was just a dream." Arizona said softly, trying to comfort her girlfriend. "Deep breaths for me, honey…yeah, just like that. I'm here."

Callie had taken a couple of deep breaths and felt her heart slowly starting to beat at a normal speed again. "I'm sorry."

"There's nothing you have to be sorry for, Calliope."

"I...I tried to kill myself."

"I think...um…" the blonde swallowed hard. "...I think we should talk."

"I know...I'm so sorry that I'm pregnant."

Arizona's eyes widened at her words, not believing she had apologized for being pregnant. "Calliope...don't you ever apologize for that. It takes two to make a baby and I know...I know we didn't plan this and the way I reacted was terrible, but please, please don't be sorry."

The Latina sighed, looking into the blonde's eyes. "I really don't know how it happened. I...I can't believe I'm pregnant."

"I can't believe you're pregnant either, but I promise, I will never leave you again. Honey...I…I'm so sorry." Arizona's voice broke, her eyes filling with tears. "I left you alone in the darkest moment of your life, and I will never be able to forgive myself for that. You went there because...because of me and I almost lost you. You could be...oh god, you could be dead right now."

Loud sobs had filled the room and Arizona's tears had hurt the brunette's heart badly. She couldn't stand seeing her cry like this because it felt like it was her heart breaking all over again. "Arizona...I, I didn't plan to take my life. I went there to get my mind off of this, but then I walked to that cliff and I...I thought I lost you. When you walked out of my apartment, I thought you were never coming back."

"Callie...I'm so, so sorry. I should have never reacted this way and I should have never left you." the blonde sobbed. "I'm sorry for breaking your heart."

"Thank you." the brunette whispered. "I just...I can't take getting hurt like this anymore. Not again...not after what I've been through."

"What do you mean?"

"I...I don't want you to think I'm some crazy person."

Arizona reached out for Callie's hand and squeezed it softly. "I could never think that of you. Please tell me what happened."

"Okay…" Callie sighed. "I never told you this, but I used to be in a relationship with a guy named George. I know I said I never...um...had a serious relationship, but that wasn't true."

"W-what did he do to you?"

"He told me he loved me. He promised me the world and made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world, but then one day...one day I found out he had been cheating on me with more girls than I could count. He...he made me feel worthless, not good enough and undesirable. I broke up with him, but ever since then, I've felt ugly and unworthy of love."

"Sweetheart...I'm so sorry you had to go through this." Arizona cried, the things her girlfriend had to go through making her cry. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because...um...ever since that I've been having suicidal thoughts. I never tried to take my life before today, but he changed something within me. It only got better when I...when I met you. My fears and anxiety went away and for the first time in years, I felt loved. Even my father was surprised when he visited me."

"Honey...is that why he came over? To check on you and make sure you're okay?"

Callie's eyes saddened. "Yes. He had a meeting here, but he also wanted to make sure I was alright. Arizona, when...when you left, I felt the same way I felt when George left me. I thought I wasn't good enough to carry your child and I thought you left me just like he left me."

"If I only knew you were hurting." the blonde said, still stroking Callie's hand. "I'm so sorry you had to go through this, but I promise, I promise I will never leave you again. I will be by your side, no matter what. I will be here to support you no matter if you choose to have this baby or not, and I won't ever leave you alone. Almost losing you made me realize how much I truly do love you. I...I can't imagine my life without you in it."

Tears of relief and pain had streamed down Callie's face faster than her own heartbeat. Her words had meant the world to her and calmed the storm in her heart, but it hadn't changed her fear of Arizona not loving her one day.

"Arizona...I...I can't live like this if you don't really love me. When I stood at that cliff, nothing made sense anymore and I felt so unloved."

"I promise to show you how much I love you every single day. I will never stop loving you, Calliope. Please, please live for me, because I can't live without you."

The Latina's heart had filled with so much love, it had nearly burst. These words would for sure be hard to believe on some days because she had always been scared to be left again, but she was willing to trust and love her. Leaning closer to Arizona's face, Callie pressed her lips against the blonde's and for a moment, all of the pain had washed away. Arizona had kissed her back and tried to put her every emotion and all of her love into the kiss to make Callie understand just how much she had loved her.

"C-calliope?"

"Hm?"

"I think...I think I should talk to Mr Webber."
