Walking into the cave, Zephyr could see some greens waiting for him, with eager, smiling faces.
"The Veridian caverns! The green minions must have made their home here. You must follow them, master!"
"Whatever would I do without you wise council, Gnarl?" Zephyr followed the greens as they led him deeper and deeper into the cavern. Gnarl serenaded the journey with unwanted commentary.
"Being an observant lord, I'm sure you've noticed that our green friends are immune to all kinds of poisons." Just nodding along to what the old husk was babbling about, Zephyr soon came across a green beetle. It looked much like the other beetles he had in his dungeon, and sure enough, when he killed it, three lifeforce orbs came from it like the others.
"That is green lifeforce, sire. Use it to-"
"Summon green minions, right? You really do think I'm that stupid, don't you?"
"N-Not at all, sire! I just-"
"Shut it, you walking corps!" Zephyr soon caught up to the greens, seeing them smash a poison spraying plant.
"I suppose you were going to tell me something about how they can also destroy those plants, right?"
"No, necessarily..." Content in the knowledge that Gnarl was cowed, for now, Zephyr continued to fallow the greens. The deeper in, it became clearer and clearer that the greens were slobs. Bits of dead animals everywhere, shit and piss every few feet, and all kinds of vermin and poisonous plants growing and feed off of it.
"This place is even viler than the spawning pit, and I didn't think that was possible!"
"Yes, green's are also known for their poor hygiene. Look at this place! Pah, even evil creatures should have standards!" Doing his best to ignore the smell and not step in something, Zephyr followed the greens deeper into their mess. After a long and quite frankly frustrating slog through beetle-infested tunnels, he finally found a large chamber filled with architecture similar to the tower gates, and more importantly, the green hive. Unlike the red hive, which looked like a wasp nest on fire, the green hive looked like a large plant with strange oval bulbs on the tops. The moment Zephyr had a clear path to the hive, the greens that had lead him to it jumped into a green minion.
"Master, use greens to pick up the green hive! We will need it to summon more of them!"
"Gnarl, we are going to have a stern talk about respecting my intelligence when I get back to the tower!" Zephyr then sent all his minions back to the tower, filling his horde with nothing but greens. He had ten of them carry the hive, and the rest followed him. He couldn't fit the hive through the gap to use the closest waypoint gate, so he let the greens lead him out. He used the greens to sweep through and destroy any poisonous plants that were in his way, he half expected Garl to tell him to do just that, but the elder beast was thankfully silent. Testing his greens in battle against the beetle vermin that stood in his way, Zephyr found that they were not as durable as browns, but we're far more agile. Dogging attacks that a brown would otherwise try to tank, they were capable warriors that he could easily find a use for. Soon, he came across a problem. The wheel he needed to turn to activate the bridge out of there was guarded by a troll, a giant gray one covered in tattoos.
"A wild troll! Time to test out the greens ambushing skills! Direct the greens onto its back. They have superb backstabbing skills!" Doing as he was instructed, not because Gnarl told him to but because he wanted to, Zephyr willed his greens to kill the troll. What he saw was breath tacking.
"Stab it! Stab it! Stab it!" The minions screamed as they attacked. Three greens danced around in front of the troll, distracting it so the rest could jump onto its back. With long claws and some with blades tied to their arms, they stabbed deep into the tolls body, killing it quickly.
"Master, your green like a little discipline. When you tell them to stay in one spot for long enough, they will grow in power and become invisible to enemies... Well, apart from the permanent stench of rotten flesh and fish heads!"
"Wow, actually useful info for once. I might just keep you around, Gnarl."
"I live to serve, master." The rest of the way out was relatively uneventful. They had to use the waypoint gate at the mouth of the cave, but at last, Zephyr had recovered the green minion hive. He then returned to the tower, feeling rather exhausted from his long day of smiting.
"Gnarl. I want enough of those green beetles in the dungeon to start farming by tomorrow morning and ad twenty greens to the spree garrison to use as scouts and spies."
"As you command, master. Should I order dinner to be sent up to your quarters?"
"Yes, that will do just fine." When Zephyr finally got back to his private quarters, he decided to check in on Rose; she was his mistress after all. He found her in the library, unsure what she was reading, but she was fascinated by it.
"Knock, knock. How was your day while I was out crushing the enemy?"
"Quite well, actually. I've finally gotten the girls into some more modest clothing, nothing unattractive mind you, just something to make me more comfortable around them. And I have some ideas about how you could redecorate around here, come see what I've drawn up." Zephyr then spent the rest of the night going over Rose's plans. He couldn't help but find her excitement rather cute.
