In Lightclan, dark-pelt cats are considered slaves but Lightkit wants to change all that. Born to the clan leader and his recently deceased mother, he's determined to be the next leader,but when he befriends a dark-pelt kit named Darkkit they're inseparable,but when his father kills the only friend he's ever had. His heart changes to a kind,sweet kit to a cold and murderous leader.

An entire season passed since Poppycloud's death and leafbare had came again. Lightclaw approached the fresh kill pile and was wondering which piece of prey he wanted. Ever since Poppycloud died, he had been planning out his plan to kill his father, Daisypetal, Snaketooth, Moon, Brightshine, and Wolffang. As he was planning, he put up a fake act that he had forgiven his family, Daisypetal, and Snaketooth and had moved on; he became so good at it that everyone believed him. When in reality, Lightclaw was planning their deaths. He needed to make sure that no one would suspect him of killing his loved ones if their bodies were found, but how he would do that, he hadn't gotten that far yet. To be fair, it's difficult to come up with a plan to kill someone and make it look like natural causes, and Lightclaw being worried over cats being suspicious over him wasn't helping. Lightclaw grabbed a plump squirrel and walked to the center of the clearing and laid down. Flowershine approached him and she looked overjoyed.

"Lightclaw, have you heard the news?" she asked.

"What news?" he asked.

"Dustfoot's expecting kits again!" Flowershine beamed.

"Really, I didn't think they would." Lightclaw meowed surprised.

"Yeah. I guess since we no longer go to the Star Council, they thought it would be safe to have kits again." Flowershine meowed guessing.

Flowershine had a point. Ever since it was announced that Lightclan would no longer have trials at the Starlight falls, slaves have been feeling relief; they no longer felt afraid of getting in trouble for making a mistake or for messing up. A lot of things have happened this past season, rumors have spread that Stormeyes and Duskstorm might be in a relationship and Snaketooth had announced that Feathershine was expecting kits. This was great news as the clan would have more warriors, but this disappointed Lightclaw as, he wanted to kill Snaketooth before he could ever have kits; at least Lightclaw was kind enough to let the kits get to know their father and this would give him more time to plan how he would kill Snaketooth. These mishaps troubled Lightclaw as he had the list of victims down from his mind. First Snaketooth, then Daisypetal, then Whitestar, then Moon, Brightshine, and finally, Wolffang. Lightclaw realized he had all the time in the world to carry out his plan; he just didn't want to do it too late.
