Chapter 30,
The Reaper
Dimitri hated leaving Rose, but he knew she was safe with her mother and his. He wanted to stay with her every minute of the day, but there were things he needed to take care of before Rose was completely safe.
First there was Anton. The man who betrayed his Bratva, his brothers. He needed to be taught a lesson in respect and trust. There was nothing more serious than betraying your brothers and their brotherhood.
Victor was another mess Dimitri needed to clean up. Victor had been in the Bratva for years and if there was anyone who knew the price for going against others in the order was nothing short of death, but death for a man such as him was simply far too easy. Dimitri didn't like to let traitors off quick. no , they needed to know, really know just how the reaper took care of those who went against his rule. His son, he was the worst of Dimitri's problems. He was the coward who had damaged a woman like Rose. A bright young woman had been beaten down by a sad little boy with anger issues and now bigger problems than he could ever imagine.
Then there was his 'wife'. Natasha was a constant headache for Dimitri. She made problems for him, which he could deal with, but the issues she had caused Rose were not to be tolerated. She needed to be put down in one way or another.
Dimitri made his way into the mansion. His men stood guard along the property, guns in hand ready to shoot at seconds notice. Taking his time he took the stairs to the buildings cold, soundproof basement. This was Dimitri's favorite place in the building, this was where he could be himself without any interruption or fear of ruining the carpet.
The basement was lit with bright fluorescent lights, the lights that gave a man a headache if they stayed in the room for too long. The smell had been overbearing the first few times Dimitri had entered the basement, the intense smell of bleach, leather and gun powder, now it brought him a peach of mind. This was his place of peace, for others it was a place of pure horror.
Three of his men sat by the inner door playing cards when Dimitri entered the room. The gave him a simple nod and continued with their cards. There was nothing new about this, they knew who they worked for and they knew who protected them in return for their trust and respect. He was their boss. He was the Reaper.
Dimitri took a deep breath as he opened the thick steal door. The door opened slowly, and Dimitri could see the heads of his victims turn in his direction as he walked through the door, closing it and locking it loudly. This was usually the first thing that got people nervous. The loud thud of the door was a sign that no one could enter and that only one man would be leaving through that door alive.
There was a thick pipe running across the ceiling, with hooks attached. Attached to the hooks were the four people Dimitri had been waiting to get his hands on. Their hands were bound at the wrist, where they hung, naked, in the air by the hooks. The position was painful but necessary.
Dimitri took off his jacket slowly, then placed it on one of the chairs by the desk which held everything he needed. He drew the sleeve of his black shirt to his elbows, revealing his dark tattoos covering his forearm. As he looked at the tattoos he felt like the man he had always been, the man who enjoyed giving people a lesson and making an example out of those he despised. His leather gloves felt good on his fingers, as he stretched them inside warming the leather, then he took the hammer in his hand and turned to the people hanging; he smiled to himself. The time was finally here. He thought as he walked up too the first hanging sack of meat. Victor.
"Good evening, everyone. How are we all doing ?" Dimitri had never been calmer and his voice was deep with satisfaction
There was no answer but he saw a few uncontrollable shakes in his wife's body as she hung third from the door. "I'll take that as 'not so good'" Dimitri chuckled darkly.
"There are a few things I hold above everything else in my life." Dimitri continued examining the hammer in his hand. "Respect. But none of you know what that is it would seem"
"Tell me Natasha, what do you know about the Bratva?"
"Nothing, I swear" Her voice trembled in fear
"It is what I am Darlin'. This is my home, and you have been disturbing my home. Going to my brothers to have me killed" Dimitri tutted "Not very wifely of you now is it."
"Dimitri?" her voice was full of surprise, utter and complete terror.
"At your service"
"What is happening?"
"You are being taught a very valuable lesson." Dimitri took the hood of her head as he spoke. When her terror filled eyes met his he gave a sadistic grin "You have been fucking up my life since I met you. There hasn't been a day where I could do more than tolerate you. All you ever do is complain. Nothing has ever been good enough for your spoiled and entitled ass"
"Whaa?" Tasha whined "I'm your wife"
"Yes, that you are" Dimitri said with a sigh "Well, that will no longer be a problem. For me."
"Tasha, meet Victor" Dimitri pulled the hood from Victors head "Victor, meet Tasha"
"Dimitri, what are you doing ?" Tasha tried to sound soft and vulnerable, but Dimitri knew she was anything but.
"I'm showing you the man you married and the man you have now continuously refused to divorce. So this is the only way to make you understand that whether you like it or not, I will get that Divorce and marry the only woman in my life that has ever meant anything to me."
As he finished speaking he swung the hammer with all his might and slammed it into Victor's kneecap with a satisfying crunch for Dimitri and an agonizing cry from Victor as he swung by his hands in the air.
"You see Tasha, this man tortured the love of my life for weeks, threatened her life and told her parents he would send her to them in pieces. Never giving a thought to what would happen to him when I would get to he"
Dimitri slammed the hammer into the other kneecap with another satisfying crunch, and a very heavy stream of blood. Victor's body shook in pain as he gasped for breath as his body went into shock. "Now, now Victor, Don't go dying on me just yet. We only just started. You don't want to ruin my fun do you ?"
Tasha had started crying at that point, hiccuping in fear. Dimitri gave a role of the eyes to his wife. "This Tasha is what happens when you get on my nerves and hurt those that matter to me"
The dripping blood started running into the drain underneath the hanging people. The constant drip, drip, drip was like music to Dimitri's ears. Dimitri ripped the hood off Jacobs head smiling when he saw the damage done to his face. Ian had done extreme damage to the boy in front of him. Dimitri had seen the bruises on his body and the bones in his arms, legs and ribs in places they shouldn't be.
"Wow, Ian did a real job on you didn't he" Dimitri chucked
"This isn't a face even a mother could love. Jikes" Dimitri gripped his jaw and Jacob moaned in pain as he turned his head from side to side examining the damage and the level of healing.
"This Natasha, is what happens when you hurt a member of a mafia family." Dimitri made sure to turn Jacobs' head in Tasha's direction "This is what the Mazur brother's do when their little sister is harmed."
Natasha turned her head in the other way, trying to draw in deep breaths through her cries of fear. This had been a long time coming for Dimitri, she was finally seeing who she had been sleeping next to all these years.
"He hurt Rose many years ago as well, and got away with it. Killing her child and making her feel as if she was nothing." Dimitri walked to the table again, where he looked over all of the different sized knives.
"You know the pain can be excruciating when you stab the right point on the body. And if you leave the knife in the mind hurts more than the body as time goes on. If you keep it in you can keep the person alive for a fair amount of hours. But if you take it out..." Dimitri stopped in front of Jacob, pausing his words, looking right into Tasha's eyes as he thrust a knife deep into his abdomen. Jacob cried in pain and Tasha screamed once again
"The blood vessels will start pumping blood out of the wound quite fast and he would die in mere minutes from the extreme amount of blood loss." Jacob was crying profusely at the pain.
"You see the mind is a wonderful thing. But the brain needs air to function, which is why the brain dies after about 7 minutes of lack of oxygen." Dimitri spoke slowly grabbing a plastic bag from his stack of toys.
"You want to see just how long it takes?"
"No" Tasha cried "Please no, I don't"
"Well, I think you should" With that Dimitri wrapped the bag around Victors head holding it tight as he looked him in the eye. Those terror filled eyes.
"So seven minutes is generally what it takes. So if you time it just right, you can keep the person alive as long as you'd like." He held the bag tight until Victor went still, then he loosened the bag.
Slapping Victor he muttered "Come on Victor, Don't die yet." Victor opened his eyes "There you are. Let's do that again shall we"
Victor's eyes widened but there was nothing he could do, Dimitri placed the bag over his head again and held it tight. "Watch Tasha. I won't tell you again"
Reluctantly Tasha turned her eyes to them again, they were red and swollen from all the crying. Three more times Dimitri held the bag over Victor's head and took it off, the final time he made sure Victor was alive before he turned to Jacob again.
"Wake up Jacob, I'm still talking to you" Dimitri twisted the knife into his abdomen again and watched the agony on his face as the knife twisted his insides even more.
Dimitri took a step back, watching father and son twisting in pain, and their blood mixing on the floor flowing in a red river down the drain, coloring the tiles in Dimitri's favorite colour.
"There is one more man you need to meet Tasha" Dimitri took the hood of Anton as he swung from the air trying to get his hands free. He knew what was coming.
"This is Anton. He kidnapped Rose and brought her to these two" he gestured to the father, son duo crying side by side. "He was one of my men, before he decided to go behind my back and break my trust."
"Dimka please let me go, I won't tell anyone. Just please, I don't want to be here!"
"No one wants to be here Tasha. This is the place where people die"
"No Dimka, Please, I'm begging you!"
"Shut up Natasha, your voice is like nails on a chalkboard" Dimitri ran his bloody hands through his hair and took a deep breath. "Now, let's give Anton some attention shall we"
"They made me do it Boss, I swear! I didn't want to do it" Anton pleaded with the man in front of him.
Dimitri watched Anton as he pleaded. There was nothing Anton could say that would save him and he knew it. Anton knew that once Dimitri decided you were in his way, there was nothing to be done.
"СТОЙ "(stoy) only one word was needed for Anton to stop. "Begging gets you nowhere."
Grabbing the flame torch, Dimitri tested it once, the flame and the smell making the air in the room thick with blood, fear and the smell of fire. The closer to Anton Dimitri got the more Anton started to swing, trying to get as far from him as possible. There was no use. There was nowhere to go.
Dimitri held the flame close to Anton's face letting the heat and the flame burn the side of his face making him scream in pain. There was a lot the Bratva brothers had learned to tolerate torture, but this was not one of those things.
Dimitri let the flame touch the entire side of Anton's body, burning the skin, leaving it red and blistering as the torch moved lower until the flame was burning the soles off his feet. The screaming got louder and the stream of tears from Natasha was never ending as she watched the torture going on beside her, not knowing what Dimitri would be doing to her.
The agonizing screams stopped as Antons body stopped moving from pain, bringing him to unconsciousness.
"This is what I am." Dimitri growled in Tasha's face "this is what I have always been."
"How can you do this to me?" Tasha sobbed "I loved you ?"
"No. You loved what I could give you. If you loved me you wouldn't have slept with Adrian or any other man for that matter"
With that Tasha gasped "what did you do to him?!"
"He was a problem. I don't like problems" Dimitri answered with a straight face
"Your a monster" Tasha sobbed
There was silence between them for a long moment, as Dimitri simply watched her.
Calmly he reached behind his back as he walked to stand in front of Victor. Dimitri held the gun to his forehead, and pulled the trigger.
Jacob looked into Dimitri's eyes as Dimitri held the gun between Jacobs eyes. Then he pulled the trigger.
Anton was still unconscious when the gun was placed in his mouth. Another pull off the trigger.
Dimitri stepped in front of his wife for the last time. His face was covered in blood from the three executions. The blood was running from his hair to his chin. This was the face of the reaper.
"It takes a monster to destroy a monster."
The trigger went off again and, and now he stood there, covered in blood.
Grinning from ear to ear.
