Chapter 11
Blanc sighed as she finally got to civilization. "Not back yet. Rom, Ram, where are you?" While she wasn't back in Lowee City yet, the outpost town she was in wasn't too far from the main city. She sighed and wasn't watching where she was going when she felt herself run into something. "Oww, what the..?!" She stopped and stared at the little girl she ran into. "Oh, are you okay?"
The girl was on her butt and was wearing a yellow jacket and smiling at Blanc. "Uh huh, Pea is strong."
"Your name is Pea?" Blanc asked and the girl nodded. "I see, are you lost?"
The girl sighed and looked sad. "Pea lost her mommy, I want her back."
"I see..." Blanc gave her a gentle smile. "Why don't you come with me?" The girl blinked in confusion as Blanc held out a hand. "I'm looking for some family of my own right now. You can come with me and I'll help you find your mother while I look for my sisters."
Pea smiled and took Blanc's hand. "Thank you, Blanc!" The girl hugged her tightly and Blanc had a confused look on her face.
'Did I tell her my name?' She couldn't remember if she had or not, but if she didn't, then how did this girl know what her name was? Others didn't seem to know who she was. Still, it couldn't hurt to ask around, just in case.
After the two ended their hug, Pea took Blanc's hand and clung to her, smiling and giggling while they walked and looked for anyone who would talk to them. "Excuse me," Blanc held up her hand as she came across a young woman with brown hair. "Can you help us?"
"Huh? Yes? Can I help you, young lady?" The woman asked and Blanc sighed as she realized that this was yet another person who didn't recognize her as the CPU.
"I'm not a young lady, I'm the CPU of Lowee and..." Blanc trailed off as the woman laughed. "What?"
"Such a funny thing to say," the woman smiled at her. "I'm sorry," she said as she noticed Blanc and Pea's slightly upset looks. "If you need some help, I work at the guild and I can show you around."
"Well," Blanc's annoyance dissipated as she tried to figure out what was going on, "that's good timing, I was going to head to the guild anyway."
"Is that so, what are you, oh?!" Blanc handed her a piece of paper. "Lemme see, "I'm looking for my younger sisters, their names are Rom and Ram and they look like..." Oh! Rom and Ram! They were here just an hour ago."
"They were?!" Blanc gasped in surprise. "Where are they?"
"They said they were going to head to the capital city to look for their big sister." The woman smiled and pointed to the East. "The main road to the city is that way. I really recommend staying on the main road if you're going to travel, there might be faster ways to the capital city, but this is the safest. We've had reports of unusual monsters attacking travelers." Blanc and Pea both nodded and walked off in that direction. "...Strange, didn't Rom and Ram say that they were CPU Candidates?" Her face scrunched up in confusion but she shrugged and decided it wasn't important and went to the guild to go to work.

As they walked down the main road, Blanc looked around in concern. "New monsters, huh?"
"Are you scared of monsters?" Pea asked and Blanc gave her a confused look. "Monsters are kind of dumb though."
Blanc smiled at her. "Yes, monsters are kind of dumb, but that's what makes them dangerous." Pea laughed and Blanc tilted her head. "What's so funny?"
"Pea's like that!" She pouted. "At least that's what some people say."
"Well, they aren't very nice if they say that." Blanc said to her. 'Strange, for some reason, I almost feel like I'm around Vert or Noire.' A CPU always burned through a small amount of shares, even in their human forms, it was the reason why their power and levels dropped when they didn't get enough exercise and work, even if there was no CPU Shift period. "Still, there's an unusual monster, I'll deal with them, you just hide."
Pea scratched her head and pointed behind Blanc. "Like those purple Shampurus?"
"Huh?" Blanc turned and saw purple rabbit-like creatures that she had never seen before. "I see, this must be what the guild person was warning us about." She patted Peashy on the back. "Go hide, I'll take care of them."
"Pea's strong though!" Pea protested but when Blanc insisted she go and hide, she sighed and nodded, walking off and getting behind some rocks. As she watched Blanc fighting against the Shampurus, Pea smiled softly. "So this is Neptuna's Blanc?" Peashy could tell that this Blanc was slightly different, even if she seemed almost identical, outside of liking blue instead of red, to the Blanc she knew.
After all, according to her Blanc, until she met Neptune and Plutia, she was completely distrusting of new people. Not that Peashy really saw a difference, since Blanc was always hostile to anyone she didn't know, even if it was just her being rude. 'This Blanc seems really nice, I wonder if she has the same temper than my Blanc has?'
When the last monster was cleared up, Pea got out from behind the rock and clapped for Blanc. "Yay! You smashed all the monsters!" Blanc turned to her, smiling and blushing softly. "LOOK OUT!" Pea yelled and grabbed the rock that was behind her before lifting it up and throwing it hard and fast.
Blanc's eyes widened as the rock sailed past her and hit the monster that was trying to get her so hard that the monster exploded into data. "...Pea... Are..." She took a deep breath and walked up to Peashy, giving her a curious and slightly afraid look. "Pea, can you tell me if the phrase "Hard Drive Divinity" means anything to you?"
"HDD?" Pea asked, confused. "Pea can't transform right now."
Blanc's face went pale as she realized something important. "...You're a CPU?" She asked, shocked and Pea nodded. "I... I see."
Pea wondered why Blanc was smiling but looking sad. "What's wrong?"
"N-nothing." Blanc shook her head and fought the urge to cry. 'I see, I thought we got through the CPU Shift just fine, but...' She looked at Pea and trembled slightly. 'What's going to happen to Rom and Ram? Or me?'
After all, if a CPU was here in Lowee and the people couldn't remember her, there was only one logical option in Blanc's mind.
The people had decided to move on from her with a new CPU.
Misunderstandings ahoy!
