Padding out into the living room in Michelle's flat, Carla sighed slightly wondering what her life had become. The sun was blaring through the windows as she opened the curtains causing her to squint and flinch at the brightness as her eyes adjusted to the light. She walked about the place tidying up then she pondered for a moment realising no one knew where she was, and likewise for her, she didnt know how everyone was back home, the person coming to mind being Peter. Michelle told her over and over not to care as this was meant to be a clean break for her, Michelle even suggested that Carla went to LA for a bit but she wasn't keen because of that sliver of hope that Peter would need her, well she hoped that he would but given everything that happened she wasn't sure but either way she liked to believe that it would happen.
"You're up early" Michelle observes, Carla flashes her a quick smile before returning to drink her coffee which she had made "I feel rough"
"You did drink a lot last night" Carla responds, Michelle rolls her eyes
"You weren't all that keen" Michelle smiles slightly going to pour herself a coffee, Carla just shrugs "I was expecting for you to drink me under the table"
"Yeah..." Carla trails off glancing down to her mug "Sorry I'm not much company"
"It's ok" Michelle reassures her sitting down at the table "Maybe you should go out, get some fresh air in those lungs of yours"
"Hm yeah maybe" she shrugs tapping her finger on the mug "Michelle?"
"Yeah?" she questions taking Carla's hand into hers "What is it?"
"Do you have any regrets in your life?"
"Regrets" Michelle hums thoughtfully "Wheres all this come from?"
"Oh nothing, just ignore me, I'm being all philosophical...do you need to work today?" Carla questions, Michelle nods slowly "What time will you be back?"
"Around seven maybe?" she shrugs"Why?"
"Oh nothing, I was just going to go into town that's all, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me but nevermind you go to work"
"Alright well you know I'm always here if you want to talk" Michelle reassures her, Carla bites her lip and nods slowly "I best get ready"
"Yeah" Carla sighs standing up and walking to the kitchen, she places her mug in the sink and glances to the calendar "Michelle!"
"Yeah?" she pokes her head around the door "What is it?"
"What's the date today?" Carla questions looking out the window which was in front of the sink and closing her eyes
"Umm, the 28th why?" Michelle hums glancing to the calendar "Oh silly me I forgot to flip to the next month"
"You always had a habit of doing that" Carla mutters, Michelle just rolls her eyes as Carla glances to the calendar biting her lip
"Is everything ok?" Michelle questions, Carla flashes her a smile and nods "Well I'll leave you to it then"
"Yeah, bye" Carla smiles before sighing and closing her eyes and rubbing her forehead before placing the mug on the drying rack, she walks over to her phone and picks it up before walking back to the calendar and sighing once again, this was not the time for her to contemplate pregnancy again...
Anything to avoid the matter at hand, anything to avoid the truth and anything to avoid the predicament she could or could not be in was the motto of her life right now. Going into town was just for a means of distraction, rummaging through the shops and avoiding the impending truth. A few days late wasn't anything to be worried about considering what her body had been through recently but the thought of who the father could be if she was carrying a baby again was nauseating. It was like she was on autopilot going into the chemist and picking out the most expensive test which was there in an attempt to find out how many weeks she was but she knew it would be fruitless considering she slept with both Peter and Adam within hours of each other which made her scoff slightly at how much of a slut she was. The way the cashier was eyeing her up was putting her on edge did they know? Of course, they didnt that was just her everlasting paranoia speaking but she soon paid by contactless and scrambled out of the chemist placing the pregnancy test in her bag. She went back to Michelle's flat surprised to see her sitting there hoping that she could do the test without her being there so she had time to think about what to do but to her surprise Michelle went into work to be sent away again as they weren't that busy.
"You're looking awfully shifty" Michelle chuckles pouring herself a glass of wine, she offers the bottle to Carla who shakes her head biting her lip "Right what's up"
"Nothing"
"Unlike you to refuse a drink"
"Gotta watch my waistline" Carla mutters fiddling with her fingers "I'm just not feeling it"
"No?" Michelle questions, Carla nods slowly biting her lip "Look you need to stop worrying about whats going on in Weatherfield"
"Easier said than done" Carla mutters standing up and heading into the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water
"Right do you want to hit the shops, we could get a taxi?" Michelle suggests, Carla shakes her head "Oh come on you were all for it this morning"
"Yeah I've already been"
"I dont see any bags-"
"Do you have an answer for everything?" she snaps, Michelle just rolls her eyes moodily "A cosy afternoon in front of the TV will do me the world of good"
"Alright, well you know I'm here if you need to talk right?"
"Yeah...I know" she whispers turning her focus away from her handbag where the answer to her future may lie and to the TV in front of her...
Lying awake in a hospital bed things were far from easy. He had a few visits from Simon who was the only source of entertainment he had and some from Daniel and he even brought Bertie in for him which was nice but to be honest he was sick of the sight of these four walls. He picked up his phone and rang Carla but as usual no answer, he was pretty convinced at this point that she had blocked his number and to be honest he knew he should be glad but he couldnt even tolerate the idea of being in the same room as her even if he did want to see her. It was so confusing for him and he knew he should focus on getting better but he couldnt do that so on instinct he called Johnny who reluctantly said he would see him so Peter waited for him to arrive.
"Peter"
"Johnny"
"Why am I here? You know what Jenny gets like..." he trails off trying to find an excuse to get out of this situation
"Have you tracked down Carla yet?" Peter queries Johnny sighs sitting in the chair which was available "She isn't answering my calls"
"Why do you care?" Johnny questions rather abruptly, Peter pulls a face "Seriously why do you care after everything she's done to you"
"Because...she deserves to see the results of her actions"
"And you hope to hurt her with that?"
"Well, yes because of all she had done to me, remember I'm the victim here" he scoffs, Johnny just sighs feeling ultimately torn about the whole thing
"To be honest Peter I want to stay out of this" he responds, Peter just rolls his eyes feeling highly irritated "I'm sorry I couldnt help you but I have no clue where she is"
"I'll find her myself then," he remarks as Johnny sighs he gets up and leaves not wanting anything else to do with the situation, he just wanted an easy life but with Peter hell-bent on revenge, he did have his worries and needed to alert Carla...
