A/N In this chapter we find out just how big of a jerk Ainsley is becoming. I'm sorry Sirius and Amy shippers, Ainsley isn't giving up that easily. Don't worry I created him and absolutely hate him as well.

Chapter 31- Breaking the Girl

Why did this always happen to him? Whenever something good happened, it was always followed by something bad. Was he that much of an asshole, that he didn't deserve some sort of happiness in his life?

Sirius pulled the letter he had received, earlier in the day out of his pocket. He hadn't had a good opportunity to read over it, while he had been at the Ministry. Now that he was at Grimmauld Place alone, he could read it properly.

Lord Black,

While most people may be oblivious to your deep connection with Miss Amy Johnson, I am not. I am aware of your intentions towards her, and I am warning you to cease your pursuit of her. This is the only warning I shall give you. If you continue to pursue Amy, I am in a strong position to make life extremely difficult for the both of you. I am sure neither of you wish to have issues with the Ministry, lest either of you end up in Azkaban. I can also make life even more difficult for your Godson at Hogwarts if I choose. I am not a Death Eater, nor do I wish to become one, however you are trying to take away something that belongs to me. I will not stand by and allow that to happen and will use any means necessary to take back what's mine. You have a decision to make Lord Black, do you want to protect young Mr Potter and yourself or do you choose Miss Johnson and make life even more difficult for the three of you? I also have some very comprising photos of Amy, that I am sure she wouldn't want the world to see. It would be a shame if these were sent to senior officials in the Ministry, just because you made the wrong choice. I would choose wisely if I were you Lord Black, I will give you two weeks to end your pursuit of Amy or else you will have to deal with consequences of your actions ….

Even though the note wasn't signed, it didn't take a genius to figure out who had written it. Who did Ainsley think he was? Sirius may be old fashioned, but this guy was coming across as a Neanderthal. Amy was her own person; she didn't belong to anyone not even Sirius. You didn't own a person; they choose if they wanted to spend their life with you. And what about the photos? Amy had never mentioned them before, so she obviously can't have been too concerned about them, or perhaps she didn't know about them. If she didn't know about them, then she deserved to know what this creep had done.

Sirius felt his blood starting to boil again. Ainsley was playing a clever game; he knew Sirius or anyone close to Amy could not physically threaten him to make him stop, because there was too much media attention on them. Sirius had to play the role of law-abiding citizen, if he wanted any laws benefitting Muggle and Muggle Born Witches and Wizards passed in the Wizengamot. Any scandal involving him could bring down all he was working towards, and unfortunately beating Ainsley into a pulp would most likely be classed as a scandal.

Sirius had more power than he had ever had in is life, but what was the point of being in power if you couldn't protect the people you loved. He was fighting a war every day and it was exhausting, It may not be a full on physical battle currently, but it was a tough mental one. It was like playing a game of Chess against not one but multiple opponents at the same time. Sirius knew he was smart and could outwit most people when he put his mind to it, but would that be enough? He already failed once before and the cost him his best friends lives, what if he failed again? After all it would only take one stupid decision, and he had made plenty of those in his life.

Sirius folded the letter up and put it back in his pocket, deciding that he would deal with it later. Maybe if he spent time talking to Buckbeak about his problems, the Hippogriff might have some idea of what to do. He was a clever and had helped Sirius before when he discussed his problems. Sirius refused to believe that it was all in his head, he was sure Buckbeak understood him, and that they were destined to be each other's companions for a long time.

Sirius was about to leave Grimmauld place and apparate to his new house to chat with Buckbeak, when he heard his name being called. He looked up to see Amy and Carissa slowly walking in through the kitchen doorway.

"You are both back early. Is everything ok?" Sirius asked with concern. He could see that Amy looked like she had been crying, but he had no idea why.

"No, not really," Carissa answered, as she gently guided Amy to sit down at the kitchen table.

"What's going on?" Sirius said, more sharply than he intended.

"There was an incident at Hogwarts today," Carissa replied, not looking at Sirius as she spoke.

"What do you mean an incident?" Sirius asked.

"Ainsley decided to send me a gift," Amy finally spoke up, although Sirius could barely hear her.

"What do you mean a gift?" Sirius was getting frustrated now. He just wanted Amy to tell him what had happened, but she was obviously shaken up by whatever it was, and he knew that he had to keep calm and not make the situation worse.

"Do you want me to tell him?" Carissa asked Amy.

Amy nodded her head in agreement.

"I guess I'll just come out and say it. He sent Amy, a dead black puppy!" Carissa angrily told Sirius.

"He did what?" Sirius yelled, making Amy start crying again.

Sirius walked over to sit next to Amy and put his arm around her to give her some comfort, "Hey I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I was just a little shocked, that's all."

"That's the understatement of the decade," Carissa muttered.

"It's not you Sirius, I just don't understand why Ainsley would do such a horrible thing," Amy replied through her tears.

"Hey, we will work this out. He won't get away with it. I'll make sure of it!" Sirius reassured her.

"And just how are we supposed to do that? There is no law against stalking in the Wizarding World and I can't go to the Muggle police. If either of us physically attacks him, he won't hesitate to lock us up in Azkaban. So once again the good guys lose!" Amy sighed,

"I'll change the laws then, I'll make sure he can't go anywhere near you," Sirius declared.

"I hate to say this Sirius, but even if you do that, it can still take months to get laws passed. In the meantime, we have to keep him away from Amy. How are we meant to do that?" Carissa pointed out.

"I have an idea, you both are not going to like it though," Amy interrupted.

"What are you thinking?" Carissa asked.

"I go and stay over in America, until you get these laws sorted." Amy suggested.

"But it could take six months or more!" Sirius exclaimed.

"I know that, but I'm tired Sirius. I can't keep doing this, I'm trying help you out but I can't do that if I end up dead because Ainsley can't handle the fact I broke up with him."

Sirius didn't know what to do or say. He didn't want Amy to leave. How was he going to protect her if she was on a different continent? But on the other hand, if she stayed away while Sirius made changes to the laws, perhaps she would be safer.

Sirius sighed, "Is that what you want?"

"It's not what I want, but I think it's what I need to do," Amy admitted.

"If that's what you need, then it's all sorted. I'll start working drafting up the new laws with Andy and you can organise whatever you have to with your Mum," agreed Sirius.

Amy was a bit shocked at Sirius reaction, she had expected him to argue. She had expected him to say that she was a coward and was running away from her role in the war. She expected him anger from him, not this.

"Sirius?"

"It's ok Amy, I understand what you have to do. Obviously, I don't want you to go but if it's what you need to do, I'm not going to stop you. There is also something else that I want you see, this is another reason why I don't mind you staying away for a while. You have the right to know about this," Sirius pulled out the letter he had and passed it too Amy.

Amy took the letter and read over it over. "That asshole, he told me he deleted those photos!"

"What photos Amy? Can you tell us about them?" Sirius asked, gently

Amy nodded her head, "I was having a shower one morning and he come barging into the bathroom. I told him to get out, because I just wanted to have a shower, but as I was standing there, he took multiple photos of me. I told him to delete it, but he kept ignoring me even after I got angry at him. It wasn't till the next day, after me refusing to see him again that he told me they had been deleted. I trusted him, I thought he was telling me the truth!"

Amy felt angry, she felt upset, she felt violated. How dare Ainsley use that to try and threaten her, Sirius and Harry!

"I think I should go" she said quickly. She could feel the room closing in around her, she needed to get out before she suffocated.

"Amy, look at me please," Carissa begged, "It's not your fault, you didn't know. He was your boyfriend and you trusted him. It wasn't anything you did wrong."

"Yeah, I trusted him and I was wrong. Maybe I'm not the best judge of character after all," Amy retorted.

Sirius went to say something, but Carissa kicked him under the table to stop him.

"You know what I think I am going to go upstairs and lay down for a while, can we talk about this more later? I'm exhausted from everything that has been happening," Amy said, tiredly.

"Whatever you need my love," Sirius replied, still unsure of what to do to comfort Amy.

"Thanks, Sirius"

Once Amy left to go upstairs, Carissa gave Sirius a pointed look, "Sorry, I had to stop you from saying anything stupid about Amy not trusting you now."

"How did you know, what I was going to say?" Sirius asked.

"Because of your past Sirius, you may only show it to a few close people that you trust, but I know that rat hurt you, when he betrayed you. I could also read the look on Amy's face. Give her time Sirius, she will open up about how she is feeling. The main thing is that you listen to what she says, but don't take it to heart. She knows deep down that she can trust you, she is just hurting at the moment. Remember at the start of this year, she was head over heels in love with Ainsley, until you came along and showed her that she didn't have to put up with his nonsense. Most people think it's Amy who has helped you, but I think you have helped her enjoy life more as well. Deep down, even with the pressure she is under, she has been the happiest I have seen in a long time. You showed her the respect that she deserves, unlike that other jerk," Carissa explained.

The was a moment of silence before Sirius broke it, "I need a cigarette and a drink if we are going to continue this conversation"

"I thought you had quit" Carissa replied.

Sirius shrugged, and pulled a packet of his pocket, "I still keep a packet on me for emergencies "

Carissa reached into her pocket and pulled out the same brand, "Would you look at that, so do I."

While Sirius started getting their drinks ready, Carissa decided to talk first. "You know this is probably the best thing for Amy."

"Yes, I do know that, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it," Sirius muttered.

"She will be happy, that you didn't just rush off and kill Ainsley right now," Carissa continued.

"I know that." As Sirius come and sat back down with their drinks, he started to open up, "I hate him Carissa, I want to tear him limb for limb after the way he has treated Amy. He doesn't deserve someone like her, she is beautiful person. She cares so much about the people around her and I hate the fact that he thinks he can control her. I don't want her to leave, but this isn't about what I feel Carissa, this is about Amy. Deep down, I know it's the best option we have, but it still hurts."

"We are getting closer to ending this you know," Carissa tried to reassure Sirius.

"It doesn't feel like we are. I feel like we take one step forward and two steps back," Sirius sighed.

"Well besides all the drama that has gone on today, I do have some good news for you. So, this should help make you feel a little bit better about the current situation," Carissa replied

"Is it the fact Voldemort has exploded into 1000 tiny pieces and we don't have to deal with him anymore?" Sirius joked.

"Not quite that good, but still a start. Snape and I figured out how to destroy the horcruxes," Carissa informed him.

"You did?"

"It was a lot simpler than I thought. You know how Dobby told us about the Room of Requirement, a little while ago? Carissa asked.

"Yes, I still can't believe that we didn't find out about when we were kids," Sirius answered.

"Well, it's simple I asked it for every book every written that has information about Horcruxes," Carissa stated, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"It couldn't have been that simple," Sirius said, in disbelief.

"Yeah, it was. Snape and I couldn't quite believe it ourselves. So now we know how to destroy them, we just have to work out exactly how many Voldy made. However, there was something else I also found out. Something that makes me think Amy was also right about something else to do with Harry."

"What?" Sirius snapped, not liking the sound of where this conversation was about to head.

"I think Harry may be a Horcrux or at least have it stuck inside him somehow," Carissa spat out the words quickly and waited for inevitable explosion from Sirius.

"What did you just say?" Sirius said, surprisingly in a calm tone.

"So, a horcrux splits parts of someone soul right? What if part of old Mouldy Voldy was inside Harry? That's why Harry can feel Voldy's thoughts and actions and why Voldemort is starting to sense Harry and manipulate him. We think Amy was right!" Carissa explained.

There was a moment of silence before Sirius yelled, "Carissa, you are not helping me calm down! I can't even get in contact with Harry at the moment to check on him. I gave him the 2-way mirror for this exact reason, so he could talk to me, but I never hear anything back from him. Now you are telling me that maybe he has a piece of Dark Magic inside him! That maybe he has part of that psychopath inside him. What the Hell!Yes, I had a feeling Amy was right, but for once in her life I wish she wasn't so god damn smart!"

"I know that you are upset Sirius. But you need to try and not lose your temper right now. Like we said before, maybe Harry is busy with schoolwork. Plus, you need to remember that this is just a theory; it doesn't mean that Amy and I are correct," Carissa said, starting to regret telling Sirius without Amy there to help talk some sense into him.

Sirius stood up and began to pace around the room. "What am I supposed to do Carissa? It's not like I can destroy Harry, I'd rather die than do anything that hurts him! How am I supposed to tell Harry, that vile excuse for a wizard has left part of his soul inside him?"

"I don't know, but we will work it out. Remember, it's only part of his soul, not all of it. Harry has his own soul as well; he is strong enough to fight off that darkness inside him. We also have Amy and Remus helping us, they are by far the two smartest people I know. It just might take a little time, but we can fix this!" Carissa answered, trying her best to convince Sirius that things would be alright.

There was a moment of silence before Sirius softly said, "But what if Amy doesn't come back from America? What do we do then? What am I supposed to do?"

Carissa looked into Sirius's eyes and could see his genuine fear. "Could you blame her Carissa? Our world has taken her father away from her, made her family move to entire new continent, discriminated against her and now she is trying to stay off the radar of not one but multiple psychopaths. Be honest would you want to come back to that?"

"No, I'd totally consider not coming back too," Carissa admitted.

"See what I mean"

"I said I'd consider it, but I wouldn't do it, and do you want to know why?" Carissa said.

"Why?"

"I'd come back for Kingsley. I'd come back to fight for him. So, get these laws implemented as soon as you can, because the quicker you do that then the quicker you will get Amy back. She will come back for you Sirius; you just have to trust her!" Carissa said, reassuringly.

"You know about my history with trust, right? I don't have the greatest record," Sirius retorted.

"Hey, it will be ok. We have got this; it is just going to take time. Don't let what that rat did to you, ruin your chances with Amy. I don't want to see her leave either, but we will get through it. Now come over here and give me a hug, we both could do with one."Carissa said.

Sirius walked over towards Carissa and held onto her tight while they hugged.

"I can't lose her Carissa. I can't lose either of them," Sirius said, with tears starting to fall from his eyes.

"You won't Sirius. It is going to be ok," Although Carissa wasn't quite sure if she was reassuring Sirius or herself this time.

After a minute of comforting each other, they finally separated. "I think we need more of this," Carissa said, holding up the bottle of Fire Whiskey

"A lot more of it," Sirius agreed.

"Well, sit your butt back down, I can't get through this bottle on my own."

They both topped up their glasses and continued to drink into the afternoon. Amy found them both passed out at the kitchen table later that day, after she had woken up from her nap. She looked at both fondly, she knew she was going to struggle leaving them here, but her mind was made up. She had to disappear even if it was only for a short time. It was the best thing for everyone, not that it made it any easier for her. She still felt guilty for leaving, like she was running away from her responsibility but her only other options was to stay stuck in Grimmauld Place hidden. At least this way everyone could pretend it was Amy's decision to go and visit her family before the war started to get worse. Perhaps some time back in the Muggle world do her some good.
