Chapter 12

***The Next Day***

(Josslyn was walking thru the park trying to clear her thoughts. She kept thinking about what Robin told her. If she's prepared for the fallout for when the truth comes out about Oscar. As much as Josslyn was trying to stay positive and trying to reassure herself that she was doing the right thing, she was feeling guilty. Feeling guilty about keeping everyone in the dark. Guilty about not telling her friends. She wanted to tell Trina, Dev, and Cameron more than anything. She didn't want to burden them with this and/or make them keep this whopper of a secret. She honestly didn't know if she was right or wrong in this. In the end, though she had to do what was right for her and Oscar. Would people understand? Probably not. Would they forgive her? Maybe in time)

(Josslyn sits on the bench and ponders her thoughts, not realizing that someone was calling out her name until she felt a hand on her shoulder, causing her to jump slightly)

Josslyn: (raises her voice) "Holy...! "

(Josslyn looks to her right, seeing it was Cameron)

Josslyn: (chuckles nervously) "You scared me."

Cameron: (chuckles and squints his eyes) "Didn't you hear me? I kept calling out your name."

Josslyn: (shrugs) "I guess I was in my own little world." (smiles politely) "Sorry."

(Cameron sits down next to his friend before speaking again)

Cameron: "No worries. I'd ask how you're doing, but something tells me I already know."

(Josslyn slumps her shoulders and sighs softly in despair)

Josslyn: "Am I that obvious, Cam?"

Cameron: (nods a bit) "Unfortunately. But don't worry. I won't hold it against you."

Josslyn: (half smile) "Thanks. I thought you'd be with Trina and Dev."

Cameron: (nodding) "I was. But I told them I wanted to check up on you. They offered to come with me, but I figured you didn't want a crowd. So, we agreed next time we'd come together."

Josslyn: "Thanks, Cam. Yeah, next time would be better. I appreciate it. I don't want them to think I'm alienating them. I-I guess this is just affecting me a little more than I thought it would. Anyways, how are things your way?"

Cameron: (smiles) "Not too bad. Getting along more with Franco. He's not a bad guy once I got to know him." (winks) "By the way, nice try to trying to change the subject, Jacks. "

Josslyn: (guilty look) "You caught that? Ugh. I was hoping I'd get away with it."

Cameron: (chuckles) "You DO know you can't keep anything a secret from me forever, right?" (sighs softly) "I hope you know I'm always here for you, Joss."

Josslyn: (smiles a bit) "Thanks, Cam. I appreciate it. Same goes for you, too."

(Josslyn tilts her head and smiles, holding up her pinky finger)

Josslyn: "Friends for life?"

(Cameron grins while wrapping his pinky finger around hers)

Cameron: "For life."

(All of a sudden, Josslyn's phone beeps. She takes the phone out of her purse to see who it's from. She gets a bit wide eyed and her mouth open a bit too see it's from Robin and reads the message in her mind)

Robin: "Josslyn, there's been a breakthrough with Oscar. When you are able to, come to the house. I'll explain further."

(Josslyn has a shocked look on her face, causing Cameron to grow concerned)

Cameron: "Joss, w-what is it? Are-Are you okay?"

(Josslyn quickly looks at her friend before retrieving her purse)

Josslyn: (chuckles nervously) "Yep. All good. C-Can we talk more later? Something's come up."

Cameron: (nods quickly) "Yeah, no problem. Do you want me to come up with whatever is wrong?"

Josslyn: (shakes her head) "No, I'm fine. Thanks, though."

(Josslyn quickly hugs Cameron before walking away, leaving him confused)

Josslyn: (to herself) "Please, let Oscar be okay."
