Finally back in the Artic, the two had grown really fond of Melodious, especially Tif. They would be best friends forever. Inseparable. Nothing would come between them...except a shark. As soon as they saw the fin, Tif and Dash swam for their lives before they could see it was Undertow. Nothing was more fun than scaring everyone.

"What can I say? When you got it, you got it. Hey! You got it!" she gasped when she saw the trident, "Sweetheart, you're my new hero! Let's go. It's time for some magic."

"But...but my friends..." Melodious stammered. He didn't want his friends to miss this.

"Ha! You mean you call those two yellow-bellied slugs your friends?" she yelled for them to hear, "Come on! You wanna be a merman or not?"

Reluctantly, Melodious followed Undertow into the cave with with the trident. He guessed he would see them when this was all over.

Close behind, Aaron and Flounder followed Cloak and Dagger to the Artic. At long last, they found Morgan's lair.

"Swim back as fast as you can and tell my mother. I'll try to find Melodious," Aaron told Flounder.

"But if that old sea wizard is in there, and then there's that mean little shark," she worried. Every word she said including her acting everything out, making Aaron smile despite the situation. He really did miss her. She may have changed, but she was still his guppy.

"Nah. Nuh-uh. No way you're going in there alone," she finished.

"But Flounder, if we both go, who's going to tell Mom where Morgan's lair is?"

"Say, what's all the whisperin' about?" someone squawked.

Scarlette had been part of the search for Melodious and landed on some ice next to them when she spotted her two dear friends.

"Is Melodious around here? Did you find him yet? If he's-"

"Scarlette! Get down and be quiet!" he warned, holding her beak shut. That was when he got an idea. Scarlette could get help!

"Scarlette, I need you to pay very close attention."

"We're doomed," Flounder mumbled.

"Oh there you are, child!" Morgan cheered when he saw Melodious enter, "I was so worried about you. And look! You've brought me my trident! Clever boy."

"Give it to him! Give it to him! Give it to him!" Undertow yelled. Morgan grabbed her and put her aside with a tentacle over her mouth. She needed to calm down or she would ruin everything.

"Forgive her, dear boy. She's got a little size issue," Morgan said.

Undertow stared daggers at him. She wanted to be big again!

"Now," he continued, "if you'll just hand over the-"

"Melodious, don't!"

Before Morgan could get the trident, Aaron swam in.

"Dad?" Melodious gasped. What was he doing there?

"Don't listen to him!" Aaron warned.

That was when they saw each other and couldn't believe their eyes.

"You're a merman?" they both gasped. How was this even possible?

"Aaron! How nice of you to come!" Morgan said, "And you brought Flopper with you."

Morgan! Aaron should've known. He probably filled Melodious' head with false promises and lies, just like Urson.

"The name's Flounder!" Flounder said. She went to go at him when Undertow stopped her. If she wasn't so small, she'd take a bite of her! One blast from the trident and Flounder would be shrimp toast!

Morgan ignored them and focused on the task at hand.

"Child, hand me my trident right now," Morgan said to Melodious.

Melodious though couldn't take his eyes off of Aaron. How was he there? How was he a merman? Why was he in the ocean? He hated the sea!

That was when everything clicked. His father knowing Morgan. Him having a fish friend. The constant avoidance of his past and the ocean. And the sea stories of Atlantica. His father was a merman! And he had been this whole time!

"All this time...and you never told me," Melodious gasped.

"Keeping the most important secret in his whole life from his own son," Morgan shamed.

"Please, give it to me, Melodious," Aaron said.

"No. Hand it to me. It's for your own good."

"He's lying!"

"I've given you what you've always wanted. He's the one who lied to you all these years."

"I was trying to protect you!"

"By fencing me in?" Melodious fired, "You knew how much I loved the sea, Dad! Why did you keep the truth from me?"

Aaron knew Melodious was angry and he had every right to be. The whole reason why he didn't fit in or feel comfortable on land was because he was half merman and Aaron always knew that. But instead of listening to him and telling him the truth, Aaron brushed it off as something Melodious would grow out of.

"Melodious, listen to me," Aaron tried to tell him, putting his hands on his shoulders, "If there was one thing in my life that I could do over, I-"

Melodious swam from his father's grasp. He was doing it again! He was avoiding the question and saying something else like always! Well Melodious was done! No more! His whole life, he was called names and being thought of as weird and different. At long last, he knew why and his father wanted to take it away from him! Once he gave the trident to Morgan, he would be a merman forever! He would live in Atlantica, play with the merchildren, finally be at home in the sea rather than on land with his secretive father and no doubt mother.

"Too late, Dad," Melodious said.

"Melodious, no!" Aaron yelled. But it was too late. Melodious gave the trident to Morgan when it started glowing an ominous green.
