I duck out of the hut, my feet flying faster than I could think. I can feel my family hot on my heels as I run towards the screaming. We're a couple miles away from the villa, but we're racing against time. I barely notice my surroundings as the adrenaline takes over me.

"Oh little mouse...come out come out wherever you are," I hear a shrill voice calling out for Bella. I quickly duck behind a palm tree as the voice nears. I wonder where Bella has managed to get to. I feel little leaves falling on my head but I can't feel a breeze.

I slowly crane my neck up and see Bella up there crouching amongst the leaves, shaking from fright. I motion for her to come own but she only shakes her head and points a shaky finger at something behind me. It must be that woman's voice I heard. I take a glance around and have noticed that the rest of my family and Peter and Charlotte have taken suit after me, they were also hiding among or behind the palm trees that littered the island.

I hear more footsteps crunching on the fallen palm leaves. And a voice says, "Where is she? Did you lose her already? I wanted to get a taste of her blood before you scared her off." I'd know that voice anywhere. It's Edward. I glanced at my other family members hiding amongst the trees, they had heard it too. Alice's visions have been confirmed, he did intend my Bella harm and so did his mate.

The other members of my family looked to me for guidance when it came to these tough situations. I signaled to them to wait for my signal, I glanced above me seeing Bella looking white as a ghost, as the crunch of leaves gets louder.

As soon as I see a speck of red, I emerge. It's Victoria. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" My family follow suit and flank behind me, showing Victoria that she is outnumbered. I wonder where Edward has managed to get off to.

"Oh hello Cullens, how lovely to see you here. Are you here to take part in the fun too?" she asks innocently.

"Stop with the games Victoria. We know why you're really here. Bella may be human, but she's my family and I won't let you touch a hair on her head from this moment on," I reply proudly.

She shoots me a glare and looks behind her, probably searching for Edward. "We'll see about that," she hisses back at me before going into a crouch, only further enticing me with a probability of having a battle.

She starts to circle me, taking my movements into account before she leans in to swipe at my neck. Too slow, I think to myself. She's acting like a newborn. I wonder if she has the strength of one. I feign right and slam into her. It didn't take long to rip an arm off before she darted away. I throw the arm over my shoulder to the rest of my family. They instantly set it alight while I hear Victoria shriek.

I can't see her but I can feel her moving. Where is she? I climb up the tree that Bella is on to gain a better vantage point. The little bug is darting behind the trees trying to get closer to the pyre that's burning her arm. Stupid girl, she's trying to save her arm. As soon as she passes the tree Bella and I are in, I land behind her and swiftly decapitate her.

"That was easier than I thought," I tell my family as I toss her head towards the flames.

"Nooooo!" comes a cry. It's Edward.

We all turn around begrudgingly as he runs towards us. I expected him to try to salvage what was left of his mate, but he surprised us all when he started to climb the tree Bella was in.

"Oh hell no," Emmett replies. He leaps from his position and drags Edward's body off the tree and sits on him. "You're not touching another hair on my sister's head."

Edward is stoic only watching as the flames eat his mate. After the rest of my family puts the fire out, they walk over to where we are.

"What do you have to say for yourself," Carlisle yells. "I raised you better than this."

Esme silently walks over and delivers a slap to his face. We're all stunned, mouths hanging open. We didn't think Esme had it in her.

"Guys, let me explain. I was planning on turning Bella," Edward replies calmly.

"Yes. And then you were going to say that she died from complications. Yeah Yeah Yeah. We know already Edward," Alice retorts.

Edward is visibly grasping at straws while blubbering like an idiot. "That's not what I intended at all guys. You have to believe me."

"I heard you," Laurent said. "I heard and saw you with my own eyes that you intended this human harm. Yes, I used to feed on humans, but what you were suggesting is sick."

He's a lying sack of shit, I'm so consumed by my anger that I almost forgot Bella was still stuck in the tree. Rosalie quickly scales the tree and carries Bella down. As soon as her feet touch the ground, Edward is fighting to get Emmett off of him.

"Stay down!" I yell at Edward. "You're not escaping this. Do you realize what you have done?"

"No you guys don't understand. This is mine. It belongs to me. Let me have her," he wails trying to get closer to Bella.

"You're no son of mine," Carlisle replies. This statement only momentarily stuns Edward. Enough for us to get him on his feet and start to usher him off the island and away from my Bella.

He finally looks defeated. Emmett decides to loosen his grip and just trail behind him, walking him towards one of our docked boats. We're about 200 yards out before he breaks into a run, throwing Emmett's grip off of his shoulder. I'm about to break into a run before Emmett puts a hand on his shoulder.

"Let him go Jasper. We've been his family for so long. There will be nowhere for him to go, and without his mate, he'll be sure to die soon."

"We need to tear him apart Emmett, he can't get away with this. His plan would have taken place had we not had Alice's gift on our side!"

"I understand brother. But let this be the last mercy we show him. I say he only has a month left to live before sadness and despair consumes him and his soul," he replies watching Edward get away on one of our boats.

"Fine. It's too late anyway. We won't be able to catch him," I reply sulking.

"C'mon Jazz don't be that sad, let's enjoy our time here. We never take family trips anyway. Let's make the most out of it," he replies.

We turn back to check on Bella. Rosalie is cradling her in her arms while they sit on the beach. I guess she has grown more affectionate towards Bella after this Edward fiasco. We approach slowly not wanting to scare her anymore than necessary.

"Bella darlin' are you alright," I ask when we're within earshot. She pulls away from Rosalie's arms and starts running towards us. She crashes into us and pulls us into her warm embrace.

"Thank you so much guys. I can't believe you saved me. I didn't even know I needed saving. Sure, I thought he was acting weird towards the end but I wouldn't have been able to even imagine this," Bella said to us, her words muffled against my shirt. She was rambling. I'm sure she was still wound up and needed to relax. I sent her soothing emotions. She pulled away and shared a sweet smile with me before sitting back on the beach.

"Let's have a family meeting," Carlisle begins, gesturing us over. Bella looks too tired to come over so I tell her that I'll fill her in later.

"What're we going to do?" Emmett asks. "I told Jasper that we should just let him go, he should die of heartbreak over losing Victoria soon enough."

"I can't believe we've lived with that despicable piece of scum all this time. How could we not see what he was really like behind that know-it-all attitude," Rosalie scoffs out.

"Now now Rosalie. We were all blind. I'm sure he put up a good front. He did go on a human feeding bender remember," Esme chimes in.

"Yes guys, don't be too hard on yourself. I can see the future and even this still shocked me. It's amazing what one chance meeting can do to change a person. As soon as he met Victoria, his priorities changed and he didn't care about Bella as a being anymore. He only saw her as a source of food that he wanted to have for as long as her human life allowed him," Alice adds.

We all shook our heads at this. It was still hard to believe that this despicable action made us take another life, Victoria's life. How had we not seen this before? I hate to admit it but I feel like it's not over. I decide to speak up.

"Coven. I don't think he's done with us yet," I say, waiting until I have their full attention. "When he escaped from Emmett and I, all I felt from him was anger and vengeance. I didn't even feel sadness. I can only assume that the bond with him and Victoria wasn't that strong. They were only mates for a week at most. It's far too short of a time for him to be heartbroken over her. I don't think we should chance Bella's survival on the idea that he'll die of heartbreak. I think...he'll be back for her."

"As far as I'm concerned, the boy doesn't care about his family anymore or what you guys may think of him. He's shown his hand and there's no taking it back," Laurent adds, he nods towards Bella. "We must protect the girl. Since Victoria was his mate, I can only imagine how crafty he'll get to obtain the girl again."

"How are we going to do that? Where will we go?" Esme questions. "He knows all of our spots, second homes, and safehouses. We were family for so long."

"We either go somewhere new or we have to do something about Bella's vulnerability," I add. "We might have to consider changing her," I add solemnly.

A sound interrupts us from behind, causing us to turn around. It's Bella clearing her throat. She's heard us.
