Percy's POV
We get to the infirmary, Annabeth in the back of my mind for a moment. I stand in the doorway with Nico while Will runs over and checks her bandages, with a small amount of muttering from the girl, who is clearly still not completely awake. A glass of nectar is pushed into her hand. The cold drink in her hand wakes her up enough to put her mouth to the straw. Once she has had a few sips she is much more awake.
"Where am I," she says crawling back until she is pressed against the wall, her red hair in her face. We all look at each other silently deciding who gets to tell her about our world. That's when Chiron roles into the room in wheelchair form.
"I'll do it," he says. Then he turns around to face me, "Percy,"
"Yeah,"
"I wish to speak with you afterword, would you mind sticking around."
"Yeah, do you want help," I ask. He thinks about it but decides to do it on his own. It's crazy how I a 22-year-old, can still feel so young when Chiron says something like he wants to talk to me.\
Will, Nico, and I walked out of the room and the big house in silence.
"We should really have an assigned person to welcome new campers," Nico says breaking the silence.
"Yeah have volunteers who will be there when a camper is ready," I reply
"A lot of the time that responsibility falls on me since I am the oldest healer I am always in the infirmary," Will says, sounding a bit annoyed.
"Why are you guys still at camp, you're only a few years younger than Annabeth and me," I ask. Will and Nico look at each other. Having a silent conversation. Nico sighs and looks at me,
"We are going to leave eventually, but we want to see the village and Decide if that is somewhere we want to live."
"And we agreed a while ago that until we were ready to move in with each other we wouldn't leave camp," Will adds. I think back to when Annabeth and I moved in together in the senior year. We had both just turned 18, both our parents helped pay for the apartment, so we could not be separated after Tartarus. At first, we had separate beds in the same room, but eventually, we moved into the same bed when the nightmares were bad. I wonder if things would be different had we waited a while longer.
When Chiron comes out the Girl is at her side, her bow is once again slung over her back, her Quiver attached to her jeans, her newly acquired camp shirt is partially covered by a leather jacket that is an odd shade of green. She looks at Chiron and then to us,
" Hi I'm Fable, But I prefer Fay," She says as she sticks her hand out for Will to shake. We all introduce ourselves with our name and godly parent. She takes a good look at us and us her. Her eyes stop and notice that we are all wearing our Camp necklaces.
"What are those for," She asks innocently, her soft features and frail body hint at her being about 10 or 11, but she has been on the run so she could be older.
"Each bead represents a summer we have spent at camp," Nico answers. She nods in understanding
"Will, Nico," Chiron says, making eye contact with both of them, " would you mind showing her around or finding someone else if you are busy, maybe introduce her to Cory." Will and Nico nod and walk off Fay following right behind eyes wide with anticipation. I smile. Happy she has found a safe place.
I turn back to see Chiron giving me a serious gaze,
"Annabeth isn't here, what's wrong,"
"We just had a bit of an argument last night and I decided I should come here and give her some space,"
"Percy, the only fights you have with Annabeth are petty ones that you forgive each other for within the hour, how long has it been?" I check my watch
" twelve hours," I say, my face falling. I go and sit down on the chair and tell Chiron everything.
Annabeth POV
I don't sleep at all. I stay up thinking about the argument. I can't believe Percy drove off, that seems more like something I would do. He could have gone to camp, but that would have been weird since he was talking about leaving them to fend for themselves last night. I get what he means, but camp was my first home. I can't just leave it. Ugh, why does he have to be right though? They do rely on us I mean not just camp but the gods too. Whenever anyone wants something done they come to us, and once the babies are here we won't always be able to go. The Babies oh gods. The Party is in 3 days what if we aren't made up by then. I need to keep my mind of this, Percy started the fight he needs to apologize. I go and work on blueprints for the village. I do this for the next 3 days at work and eat all day and night. I probably would continue working, but I hear the door open and close loudly, then footsteps running up the stairs. I look at the calendar. Schist the party. I turn around in my chair when the door bursts open. I am enveloped in the smell of sweat and the sea. I subconsciously fall into the embrace. Percy pulls back and looks me in the eyes,
"I'm sorry I should never have gotten mad at you for loving your home,"
"No I-I'm sorry you right we need to be a family for once," I say struggling to get the apology out. He looks at me gratefully.
"You know what Nico helped me out with a solution," He says seriously.
"Okay what," I say a little worried
"Persephone," he says
"What," I look at him confused
"We can spend the summer and holidays here and the rest of the time in California," He looks so happy.
" That's not what Persephone does though," I reply smiling now.
"I know but the idea split our time so we can still be here to help but not all the time."
"I'll think about it," he looks happy with that. I pull him in for a kiss and we go to get ready for this party.
