Hello and welcome to chapter 12 and the third chapter in the Devimon arc. Last time, Izzy and Tentomon battled Andromon in the factory while having their first encounter with Sasuke. It was then followed by Mimi and Palmon stopping Monzaemon and having their first encounter with Sakura. Now it's time for Joe and Gomamon to be the heroes. Now just to let you know, there will be some elements from the Naruto filler episodes as well as some from other tv shows.
Now I'll admit that the last two chapters were probably not my best since no one reviewed them, and I apologize for that. I also apologize for taking so long to write this chapter, but I've been busy with my other stories. I'll talk about that later.
Chapter 12:
In his cave, Makuramon was about to get some rest when he found himself having visitors. "Who goes there?"
"It is I, Pandamon," said Pandamon.
"Pandamon, what are you doing here," said Makuramon.
"As of now, you shall serve Lord Devimon," Pandamon through the Black Gear.
"I don't think so," Makuramon threw a rock at the Black Gear, deflecting it.
Makuramon and Pandamon then came at each other and got into a fighting frenzy.
The next morning, the group was standing on the opposite side of Toy Town from where they entered. Having been well rested after the events the previous day, they were presently saying goodbye to Monzaemon and the Toyagumon.
"Bye Monzaemon," said T.K., carrying a special toy given to him by Monzaemon.
"Thanks for everything," said Izzy.
"You take care of yourselves," Monzaemon waved goodbye.
"Hope you find your way home," said the Toyagumon.
"Come on you guys, let's go," said Naruto as he and Hinata led everyone out into the forest.
Everyone then walked away from Toy Town and made their way through the rest of Misty Trees Forest. As they walked away, the Toyagumon realized something or someone was missing from their group.
"Hey, where's Pandamon," said one of the Toyagumon
"Oh dear," said everyone.
Elsewhere on the island, Leomon was walking across the floor of what appeared to be a deep canyon. As he walked he saw that things were as normal as things could be, until he noticed a certain monkey Deva lying on the ground.
"Makuramon," Leomon gasped as he rushed towards the Deva. "Makuramon, are you alright?"
Makuramon regained consciousness and saw Leomon. "Leomon, you have to run…!"
"What's going on," Leomon questioned.
"Pandamon's been hit by one of those Black Gears," Makuramon explained. "I fought him last night, but he overpowered me."
Leomon checked Makuramon's body, looking for any Black Gears that may have been imbedded into him. Fortunately and for some reason, he found none and was relieved that the Deva had not been put under Devimon's control. However, this got him suspicious. Having heard that both Andromon and Monzaemon were imbedded with Black Gears the other day, it was clear to him that the gears could affect ultimate level Digimon and possibly mega levels as well. Adding in Makuramon's story, and this had him really worried. But not wanting to leave his friend behind, he picked him up and took him away to another location.
Sometime later, the group had entered a part of File Island that felt rather cold. As they walked, the Digidestined were feeling the cold air, but Joe felt the worst of all. He apparently didn't like the cold weather, despite the fact that he went through a sudden snowstorm back at camp.
"I know this is no day at the beach, Joe, but that's no reason to be such a worry wart about it and make all your friends, and your teachers for that matter, unhappy," said Gomamon, trying to brighten his partner's mood. "Pardon the pun but chill out. Only you have a problem with the cold, right guys?"
T.K. and Mimi and their partners were all shivering.
"Everyone, think warm," said Gomamon.
"I'm allergic to fur," said Joe.
"Ah, come on you guys," said Tai. "The cold isn't that terrible."
Mimi, T.K., Palmon, and Patamon were all a bit shocked at what Tai said.
"Perhaps not if you're a polar bear of a penguin," Izzy argued.
"Yeah, but if it snows we'll throw some snowballs," said Tai.
"And make snowmen," said Mimi, after realizing what Tai was talking about.
"What do you think Snowmon is," said Gomamon.
"A Digimon from their planet," said Gabumon.
"Not exactly," said Lunamon. "He said snowmen not Snowmon. A snowman is a sculpture or statue made of snow. You can only build them in areas where snow falls."
"Well if those things are edible, count me in," said Tentomon.
"No, the best thing about snowballs is that you can throw them at each other," said Izzy. "It's a fun game to play in the winter."
"You throw food," said Tentomon, feeling confused.
"No, snowballs and snowmen aren't food," said Dorumon. "Our partners taught us that the hard way."
"We could even build a snow fort," said Matt.
"You'll need one," said Tai.
"I'll bet I can beat you both blindfolded," said Sora, joining in on the fun.
"I want to build an igloo," said T.K.
"I'll help if you tell me what it is," said Palmon.
"An igloo sound scrumptious to me," said Tentomon.
"Too bad they're not edible," Izzy pointed out.
But Joe had had enough and said, "Come on get serious. It would be horrible if it started snowing right now."
"Lighten up a little Joe," said Sora. "We're just trying to look on the positive side of things."
Naruto then finally spoke up. "But he does have a point."
Everyone looked towards Naruto and Hinata.
"You guys aren't properly prepared for when a snowstorm comes along," Naruto continued. "You were lucky to have found shelter back at the summer camp when that blizzard hit, but now you may not be so lucky."
"See," said Joe. "Even our teachers agree with me!"
"Not so fast Joe," Hinata called out. "Sora did bring up a good point about thinking positive. If you always look on the negative side of things, you'll end up living a miserable life for all your days."
Naruto knew that Hinata was speaking from experience after hearing how she was treated by her father and how she always thought negatively until she met him.
"I'm just trying to be careful," said Joe. "It's always better to be safe than sorry, especially when we've got two rouge humans and their partner Digimon after us."
"But there is such a thing as being too careful," Hinata argued.
"Alright come on," said Naruto. "Let's keep moving."
The group moved along, following Naruto. As usual, Naruto and Dorumon were in front while Hinata and Lunamon took up the rear. As they walked, some of the others began to tease Joe.
"Hey Tai, when is it going to snow," said T.K.
"Probably any second now," said Tai.
"And right on Joe's head," Matt teased.
"That'll be so funny," T.K. giggled.
"I can't wait the see his face," Tai giggled.
Then, as if right on que, Naruto slammed his fist into a tree and snow from the branch fell off and landed on Joe's head. Everyone began laughing at him, much to Joe's discomfort. But then the next thing they knew, Naruto did it again. He slammed his fist into a tree and snow came falling down right on everyone else's heads.
"Who's laughing now," Joe laughed upon seeing everyone else get covered in snow.
"Okay, that one's on us," Matt sweat dropped as he wiped the snow out of his hair.
"What is that white stuff," Gomamon questioned.
"That's what the humans call snow," Lunamon answered. "It falls from the sky every time certain types of clouds gather. Most of the time, it melts and falls as rain, but when it's cold enough, it stays frozen and falls like this."
"Seeking of snow, look at that," Gabumon gasped.
Everyone looked and saw a snow field in front of them.
"This is much worse than I thought," Joe gasped.
"Calm down," said Naruto as he pointed in a certain direction. "There's some hot springs in that direction. We can camp out there."
"Hot springs," Mimi gasped. "Yippee! Now I can take a bath!"
"And we can get warm," T.K. added.
"Calm down you two," Hinata told them. "These are no ordinary hot springs. The water in them is so hot you'd boil yourselves if you got into them."
"So, it's like being in a boiling pot," Izzy questioned.
"Yes," Hinata confirmed.
"Trust us," said Dorumon. "I once went in there, but came out with my body burnt. If it wasn't for Hinata, I'd still have that burning sensation right now."
"Yeah," Lunamon giggled. "It was really funny."
"At least the heat from them is enough to keep us warm," Naruto pointed out.
The group then walked across the snowy landscape to the spot where the hot springs were. When they got there, they found that Naruto and Hinata were right.
"You guys weren't kidding," said Tai. "This water is much too hot."
"We'd be cooked if we jumped in this," said Tentomon.
"Well, there go my big dreams of a nice warm bath with Naruto," said Mimi feeling disappointed.
"But it still looks so inviting," said Palmon.
"If you were a vegetable, it would be," said Matt.
"But what's a little hot water compared to starving," said Joe. "We need something to eat and there's nothing in sight."
"Oh yes there is," said T.K.
"What are you talking about," Joe questioned. "There's nothing here but a bunch of rocks and boiling water."
"No he's right," said Naruto. "I forgot that that thing was there."
Everyone looked and saw what appeared to be a refrigerator at the edge of the area.
"Tell me I'm not imagining this," said Joe.
"No it's for real," said Naruto as he walked up to the refrigerator.
"Well, where there's a fridge, there's grub," said Matt.
Naruto then opened the refrigerator and everyone saw what was inside.
"Whoa… Eggs," Tai gasped.
"There must be a zillion of them," said Agumon.
"Yeah grub on," Tai agreed. "These'll keep us all fed for a month."
"Wait, you shouldn't even touch them," said Joe, being a worrywart again. "We don't know if they're fit for human consumption…! And even if they were, they don't belong to us and that'll make us all thieves. You gotta think about things like that."
"Calm down Joe," said Naruto. "Hinata and I were here some time ago. We talked to the locals and they said that they were free for us. In the meantime, you really need to stop being such a worry wart."
While Joe was still skeptical about what they were saying, hearing that their teachers had the situation under control made him calm down.
"You know, if we had some ketchup to go with these, it'd be perfect," said Matt.
"Yeah, I love ketchup and eggs," said T.K.
"That sounds pretty gross to me," said Sora.
"I'd prefer to my eggs to covered in salt and pepper, but I guess it doesn't really matter," said Joe.
"I like soy sauce," said Tai.
"I like mine with mustard and jellybeans," said Izzy.
"My favorite is eggs topped with maple syrup—yummy," said Mimi. "Sometimes I like them with cherries on top!"
Everyone was weirded out.
"You guys are making me lose my appetite," Joe complained. "I just like plain eggs. I wish we could talk about something else other than egg recipes."
"Well lucky for you guys, we're going to make something special with these eggs," said Naruto. "Something I'm sure you'll all like."
Everyone got excited.
"What is it," Sora asked.
Naruto simply answered, "Ramen."
Everyone then got a blank stare upon hearing Naruto's answer.
Joe then said, "RAMEN…?! ARE YOU FREAK'N KIDDING ME…? THERE'S NO WAY YOU GUYS CAN PULL THAT OFF…!"
"What a bet," Naruto showed off the creepy smile he once showed Sakura.
"What's Ramon," Agumon asked.
"Is it an edible Digimon," Tentomon asked.
"No, it's Ra-Men not Ra-Mon," Dorumon corrected them. "And it's a kind of noodle soup that Naruto seems to crave. I've even tried it myself and believe me, it's something you'll be craving after the first time you taste it."
"Just hearing that is making my mouth water," said Gabumon.
"Wait a minute," said Izzy. "Ramen requires more than just eggs. You would need wheat flour as well as sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate mixed with the eggs to make the noodles and you would need other things to make the soup."
"Since when were you an export when it comes to food," Mimi questioned.
"A little something called the internet," Izzy sweat dropped. "It might be relatively new, but it's useful."
Naruto and Hinata then took out some of their scrolls and preformed the Unsealing Jutsu on them, summoning both the bags of flour, the bottles of both sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate, and the fish, fruits, vegetables, and edible mushrooms they gathered. They then summoned several pots and tools they needed. This shocked everyone.
"Where did you guys get all of this stuff," Izzy questioned.
"Well we had all this cooking equipment stored in our scrolls before we left for the summer camp," Hinata answered. "As for the ingredients, we gathered them all from around the island. We got the fish, fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms from around the lake."
"As for the flour, we made it ourselves," Naruto explained. "When we were at the Yokomon Village two days ago, we asked them what kind of seeds they had in there and they confirmed that it was wheat grain."
"So that's why it was edible for us," said T.K.
"We asked them if we could have some of it and they said yes as a thanks for helping them stop Meramon," Naruto continued. "When they brought these bags to us, we converted it into flour."
"As for the sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate, Naruto took them from the factory," Hinata told them.
"So you stole those bottles from the factory," Joe accused them.
"Calm down Joe," Naruto reassured him. "I asked Andromon if we could keep it before we left. You guys didn't hear it because you were all already inside the sewer pipe when we asked him."
Everyone was dumbfounded.
"Anyway, with these eggs, we have the last ingredient," Naruto concluded.
"Now before we begin, does anyone want something different," Hinata asked the Digidestined and their Digimon.
There was a moment of silence.
"Well, I guess it's been a while since I had something like ramen," said Tai. "I'll go with it."
"I'm in to," said Sora.
"I guess ramen isn't a bad idea," said Izzy.
"I'll eat anything if it's made by my Naruto," said Mimi.
"I'll eat have some if T.K.'s going to," said Matt.
"I don't mind at all," said T.K. with delight.
Joe saw everyone look at him, and figuring that he had no choice, he relented, "Well if everyone else is having it, I guess I will to. But we still need bowls and chopsticks if we're going to eat ramen, unless you have any in one of those scrolls."
At the Yokomon Village, the Yokomon were going about their daily business.
"You did give Naruto and Hinata the bowls we made for them, didn't you," said one of the Yokomon, who was the leader.
"Well, yeah," said another Yokomon, taking out a scroll. "He put them all in this scroll, although I don't know how he did that."
But then it hit them.
"Oh dear," said all the Yokomon.
Just the, Naruto suddenly showed up out of nowhere using Flying Raijin.
"Hey guys," said Naruto. "I think I forgot something here."
"Here's the scroll you left behind," one of the Yokomon gave him the scroll he left behind.
"Thanks again," said Naruto, taking the scroll. "See yah."
Naruto then vanished again using Flying Raijin.
"How does he do that," said the lead Yokomon.
Back at the hot springs, Naruto reappeared with the scroll, making the Digidestined jump.
"How did you do that," Joe gasped.
"I'll tell you later," said Naruto as he opened the scroll and brought out the bowls the Yokomon made for them.
"Where did you get those bowls," Matt questioned, recognizing the design of the bowls.
"Those look like the ones from the Yokomon Village," Sora gasped.
"Yeah, Hinata and I asked them to make us these bowls the first time we were there," Naruto told them.
"You've been there before," Biyomon asked.
"That's a silly question," said Tentomon. "How else did you think they would even know about the village when we went there?"
"Anyway, the only thing we need now is those chopsticks," said Lunamon. "We'll have to make them ourselves though. We can do that while Naruto and Hinata make the ramen."
Doing just that, everyone pitched in in setting up place for them to have ramen. Joe was left to carve the chopsticks, Tai and Izzy gathered the firewood, Matt and T.K. made a basket to hard boil some of the eggs, Sora and Mimi assisted Hinata with some of the ingredients and utensils, and Naruto sealed some of the boiling hot spring water into one of his scrolls only to release it back into the pot he and Hinata would be using. Meanwhile, Dorumon cut up some of the large boulders to form flat pieces of stone for the tables, Lunamon and Gomemon arrived some smaller boulders to hold the flat pieces in place, Agumon and Gabumon ignited the fire under the cooking pans, Biyomon flapped her wings to give the fire plenty of oxygen, Palmon used her Poison Ivy to arrange the flat stones into place, Patamon assisted Matt and T.K. with the hard boiled eggs, and Tentomon gathered some sticks for the chopsticks.
With everything in place, Hinata made the soup while Naruto made the noodles. Naruto placed a few eggs and some of the sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate with some of the wheat flour and then used a Rasegan to mix them all together. He then used Sage Mode and used the raw power it provided to pound the dough with tremendous force. Once he was done pounding it, he used the chakra arms provided by Nine-Tails Chakra Mode to stretch out the dough and make the noodles. When he was done stretching them, Naruto left Hinata to take over and boil the noodles. The Digidestined were practically mesmerized by the process they were seeing right before their eyes. They couldn't believe that their two teachers could actually make ramen, and they had yet to taste it. They were however able to smell it and the aroma made their mouths water.
After they were done, Naruto and Hinata put in all the toppings served ramen to everyone in the group, human and Digimon alike. Fortunately, Joe had finished making the chopsticks for everyone.
"Order up," said Naruto.
"I can't believe you guys actually made this," said Sora.
"Save that for after you've tasted it," Hinata giggled.
Naruto was naturally the first to try the ramen. Knowing Hinata's cooking skills he expected to be blown away, but even that fraise couldn't do it justice.
"Oh man, Hinata, you outdid yourself," said Naruto.
"Thanks Naruto," Hinata blushed as she too dug in.
"Wow, is it really that good," Tai took his turn to have some and had the same results. "Wow this is a welcome relief from my mother's home cooking."
"I'm next," Matt took his turn. "Oh, wow…!"
T.K. then followed. "I don't believe it…!"
Next up was Sora. "I wish I knew how to cook like this…!"
Then Izzy, "Calculations can't describe how good this is…"
Mimi followed. "Knowing this was made by my Naruto only makes it better than it already is…"
Joe however was cautious. "If I get sick because of this, I'm blaming you guys."
Joe then tried it, and was left speechless.
The Digimon then followed in suit and they were all blown away.
On Server, Salamon was being treated horribly by Myotismon. Apparently, Myotismon didn't like the way Salamon looked at him sometimes for some reason and whenever she gave him that, he would strike her down with one of his signature attacks. This time it was his signature attack.
"CRIMSON LIGHTNING…!"
Myotismon used a stream of red energy as a whip on poor Salamon. He did this several times on her, each time leaving a visible mark onf her body. It had only been 2 days since she met Myotismon and already she was a slave for him.
"Lord Myotismon, why are you doing this to me," said Salamon as she struggled to get back on her feet, showing no fear in her eyes.
"Stop looking at me with those eyes," said Myotismon. "Every time you look at me with those eyes, I'll have to hurt you."
"CRIMSON LIGHTNING…!"
Myotismon used his Crimson Lightning attack on Salamon once more, this time leaving an X-shaped mark on her left paw. Next thing Myotismon knew, Salamon began to glow as she began to Digivolve.
"Salamon Digivolve to… Gatomon," Salamon had Digivolved into what appeared to be a small upright white cat. She had a purple tip on her tail and on each of her ears and purple stripes running along the length of her tail, making it look like a candy cane. She wore a pair of claw gauntlets that were yellow with orange stripes and a golden ring on her tail with a code or hieroglyphs around it. She was now Gatomon.
Myotismon was intrigued. "So you Digivolved, that's interesting."
Gatomon looked up at Myotismon for a moment before looking away.
"Now be a good little kitty and get back to work," Myotismon then returned to his room in the castle.
Meanwhile, Sasuke, Sakura, Aegiomon, and Lalamon arrived at a certain place on File Island.
"Too bad Captain Yamato isn't here," said Sakura. "He's Wood Style would useful here right now."
"He's under the Infinite Tsukuyomi, as are everyone else back home," Sasuke pointed out. "The only one who hasn't been affected is Kakashi Sensei."
"Well what are we going to do," Aegiomon asked.
"I'm going to place a genjutsu trap around this area," said Sasuke. "Anyone who wonders into this area will see nothing but an illusion."
Sasuke then activated his Rinnegan and the area around him and the others changed.
"What's happening," Lalamon asked.
"It's just a genjutsu," Sakura explained. "I'll make us immune to it."
Sakura then weaved some hand signs.
"RELEASE…!"
Using her chakra, Sakura freed herself from the effects of Sasuke's genjutsu trap. She then did the same for Aegiomon and Lalamon, making them immune to its effects.
"That'll do it," said Sasuke.
Back at the hot springs everyone had finished eating their ramen. Naruto and Hinata obviously ate more than the others, but Tai and Agumon came close.
"That was good," Tai commented.
"I'll say," Agumon agreed.
"How did you two learn how to make such good food," Sora questioned.
"Well, I've been doing my best to provide good food that would also delicious to Naruto," Hinata blushed.
"She's not wrong," Naruto agreed. "One time, I ate a rice ball she made for me and it was delicious. I even commented on her, saying she'd make one heck of a wife."
"One heck of a wife," Mimi thought as she started to feel a bit worried.
"Naruto, you're making me blush," Hinata commented.
"Anyway, I actually learned how to make ramen noodles from a ramen shop owner named Teuchi," Naruto explained.
"Teuchi," the Digidestined asked.
"Yeah, he owns a ramen restaurant back home called Ramen Ichiraku," Naruto explained. "Working alongside him is his daughter Ayame who serves as the waitress."
"She must be really good to work as waitress," Sora commented.
"You have no idea," Naruto agreed.
Naruto then began to tell the group the story of when Ayame was kidnapped by a group called the Ninja Chefs. He explained how he, Sakura, and Choji were able to create noodles that went along with the soup Teuchi created to get Ayame back. He also explained why the Ninja Chefs kidnapped Ayame in the first place and about the misunderstanding that led up to it. Next thing he knew, everyone started laughing.
"Seriously," Matt laughed. "Those guys believed such a silly slip of the tongue just like that?!"
"I know I should be mad because they kidnapped Ayame," Sora laughed. "But this is just too funny!"
"Well wait until you get a load of this," Naruto told them. "At one point just a couple of years ago, Ayame tried to convert the shop into a dipping noodle restaurant. I didn't like the idea though, and I even argued with her about it. And if that wasn't enough, she kept looking into the tiny details, like the noodles being a tad undercooked or the soup being a bit too strong, making me wait forever. And when she finally gave me my serving, I converted it into ramen and she didn't like it at all."
"Hilarious," Tai giggled. "I'll bet she kicked you out after that."
"Nah, she let it slide," Naruto explained. "But apparently, I heard that the rest of the village didn't like the idea any better than I did, and her habit of looking at the tiny details didn't help. After a while, people stopped coming altogether and she had no choice but to undo what she was trying to do."
"Well honestly, I don't blame them for not wanting to come," said Joe. "The noodles being a tad undercooked and the soup being a bit too strong? It's not a freaking science project or a doctor's operation. Just keep it simple—that's always been my motto."
"Well luckily, she realized her mistake and converted Ichiraku back to a ramen shop, but I think they still serve dipping noodles as an option," said Naruto.
"It sounds to me like you guys aren't the type of people who aren't meant to be adaptable," said Gomamon.
"Just what do you mean, Gomamon," Joe questioned.
"Let's face it, Joe," said Gomamon. "You're kind of a stick in the mud, if you get my drift."
"I'm just practical," Joe exclaimed.
"You're stuffy," said Gomamon
"And just how am I not adaptable," Naruto questioned.
"Well, you only like ramen, judging from your story," Gomamon told him.
"I don't know about that," said Dorumon. "Ramen might be Naruto's favorite food, but Hinata has managed to help him out in eating other things. Not to mention that he and Hinata were here longer."
Suddenly Joe snapped, "So you're saying that I'm not adaptable and our teacher is?"
"I'm not saying that at all," Dorumon tried to defend himself.
"You want to fight Joe," said Gomamon, raising his paws.
"Oh yeah sure," Joe got up and prepared to fight.
Hinata got in the way. "That's enough! Joe you need to calm down."
"I am calm," Joe argued. "He's the one who's dingy. And why did you squeeze my arm?"
"You don't seem to be yourself, Joe," said Matt. "You're a basket case."
"I am just trying to be careful," said Joe. "Unlike the rest of you weirdos. I'm telling you, you're all asking for trouble."
"There is such a thing as being too careful, Joe," Hinata pointed out, remembering how she was being careful not to hurt her sister, Hanabi, only to be disowned by her father as a result, until watching Naruto defeat Neji during the chunin exams undid his decision. "If you're being too careful, you get left behind."
Joe had no arguments against that and walked away.
Meanwhile, Makuramon was explaining in detail to Leomon about what happened during his battle with Pandamon
Flashback:
"As of now, you shall serve Lord Devimon," Pandamon through the Black Gear.
"I don't think so," Makuramon threw a rock at the Black Gear, deflecting it.
Makuramon and Pandamon then came at each other and got into a fighting frenzy.
"PRIMAL ORB…!"
Makuramon threw a Primal orb at Pandamon.
"FIRECRACKER…!"
Pandamon summoned Chinese firecrackers and used them to counter Makuramon's Primal Orb.
When the two attacks collided, there was a big explosion that could be heard for miles
At Toy Town, the Digidestined were fast asleep when they heard the noise. Waking up, they all looked outside the window and saw the explosion off in the distance.
"What's going on over there," Mimi gasped.
"I don't know, but I'm sure glad it's nowhere near us," said Joe.
"I hope we don't have to face whatever caused that explosion," said Matt.
"I have a feeling we may have to," said Tai.
Back at the battlefield, Makuramon and Pandamon were exchanging blow after blow against one another. By now, they were using old fashion close range hand-to-hand combat, Makuramon punching Pandamon and vice versa.
"ANIMAL NAILS…!"
Pandamon sliced at Makuramon with claws hidden in his paws, catching the Deva off guard.
"MAC-A-A-A-A-W…!"
Makuramon was sent falling down a cliff to his supposed doom. Pandamon would have followed after him, but the explosion and the fight left him too weak to follow. Meanwhile, Makuramon landed on the flow of the canyon.
End of Flashback:
After finishing his story, Makuramon allowed Leomon to speak.
"So, Pandamon truly has been corrupted by the Black Gears," said Leomon. "How many other Digimon have to suffer at the hands of Devimon?"
"Don't worry my friend," said Makuramon. "The Digidestined are on the island and they have already freed Meramon, Andromon, Monzaemon, and the Toyagumon from the Black Gears. Hopefully, they'll be able to defeat Devimon before it's too late."
Back at the hot springs, Joe was sitting alone, thinking about what Hinata told him twice that day. "What did Hinata mean by "There is such a thing as being too careful"? She told me that twice today and I still don't get it. She doesn't understand, I've gotta be the cautious one around here. I have to be… the voice of reason. I have to… If I'm not, what good am I?"
Joe threw rocks into the water while sighing, "But am I being too careful?"
Back with the others, Tai and Matt were arguing once again.
"Why are you making such a big deal out of this," Tai questioned.
"Because it's way too dangerous," Matt argued.
"We'll have to face whatever caused that explosion last night sooner or later," Tai argued. "What better place to get a better look than by climbing that mountain?"
"Hey, before we do something foolish, we should think it over a little more," Matt argued back.
"Alright you two, knock it off," Naruto got in the way once more. "Don't make me make you two kiss again."
"YOU PROMISED NEVER TO MENTION THAT AGAIN," Tai and Matt both screamed, completely embarrassed about being reminded of that moment.
"Do you want me to break your promise," Naruto questioned.
Tai and Matt gave no answer.
Tai then changed the subject. "We've got to climb that mountain."
"Why is that so important," Naruto questioned.
"Last night, there was a big explosion in that direction," Tai pointed towards the canyon Leomon and Makuramon were in earlier that day. "We gonna have to face whatever it was that caused that explosion, so I figured if we climb Infinity Mountain, we could get a better look at whatever it was."
"Okay, that explains your end of the argument," Naruto sighed. "What about you, Matt?"
"I think it's too risky," Matt explained. "We don't know what's on Infinity Mountain, and even if we did, we could be walking into a trap. Not to mention anyone could see us up there and we'd have no place to run or hide."
Naruto raised an eyebrow, then said, "You both have good points, climbing Infinity Mountain would be a great way to see what caused that explosion last night. But climbing it would leave us exposed to attack."
"See that Tai," said Matt. "Even our teacher agrees with me…!"
Naruto continued, "However, we can't just keep playing it safe. Pardon the pun, but if you want to make an omelet, you need to crack a few eggs."
"Hah, in your face Matt," Tai said with a grin on his face.
"Shut up," Matt screeched.
Tai and Matt then grabbed each other's shirts once again just like they did back at the lake. Naruto was about to pull off the same stunt he did back there, but then he felt an ominous presence. Looking back he saw where that presence was coming from. Tai and Matt felt this two and looked. There was Hinata showing of her Byakugan, not looking too pleased with the way they were handling their dispute.
"I see what the biggest problem around here is," Hinata said calmly yet ominously. "The biggest problem is that you two can't agree on anything. The first time you two get conflicting argument, you're at each other's throats. Now are you two going to get a long like good little boys?"
"YES MA'AM," Tai and Matt said simultaneously, feeling very intimidated by Hinata's stare.
The other Digidestined laughed a bit at first upon seeing Matt and Tai's reaction, but when they saw Hinata's face, they too were intimidated.
In the trees nearby, Joe was watching and realized that his position as the "voice of reason" wasn't needed as Naruto and Hinata seemed to have everything under control. Feeling left out, he walked away back to the springs.
"Now then, it's been a long day, for us, so why don't we just get some rest," Naruto suggested to everyone. "We'll figure out what to do in the morning."
"Yeah, that's a good idea," Sora agreed. "I could use some rest myself. Let's head for the caves."
Everyone agreed and made their way to the nearby cave. As they did, Naruto and Hinata put everything away, sealing the bowls, cooking equipment, and leftover ingredients back into the scrolls.
"I've never seen this side of you, Hinata," said Naruto.
"I've never seen this side of me either Naruto," Hinata smiled.
"Seriously though, you're going to make one heck of a mother," Naruto gave his characteristic smile.
Hinata blushed heavily upon hearing this and fainted.
"WOW, HINATA," Naruto gasped as he caught her.
Meanwhile, Joe sat alone next to the hot springs, feeling completely bummed out. "I'm useless. I was going to stop the fight, but instead, Naruto and Hinata managed it. I'm supposed to be the voice of reason, but Naruto seems to have taken that away from me. I'm also supposed to be the medic of the group, but Hinata took that away from me too. What am I supposed to do now?"
Joe then threw another rock. "If I'm responsible for everyone's, then I have to protect them. But they surely aren't giving me a chance. Their lives depend on me whenever those two aren't around."
Dorumon then showed up and said, "Joe, the others are heading for the cave for the night."
"I'll be there in a minute," Joe replied.
At the hideout, Ogremon was approached by Pandamon as he explained the situation.
"So Makuramon is with my rival, Leomon," Ogremon gasped.
"Yes, and I may need help fighting them both," Pandamon explained.
"Very well, since my rival is involved, there's no way I can say no," said Ogremon eagerly.
"Do what you want with Leomon, but leave Makuramon to me," said Pandamon.
"You've got it partner," Ogremon then shook hands with Pandamon.
Back at the caves a few hours later, Naruto and Hinata had brought out the sleeping bags again and allowed everyone to get some sleep. However, Joe couldn't sleep. He was too concerned about what his purpose was. After witnessing Naruto be the voice of reason and knowing that Hinata was their nurse, both positions he had, he was now wondering what he was supposed to do. Remembering Tai and Matt's argument about Infinity Mountain, he decided to leave the cave and explore the mountain and get a better look at whatever caused the explosion last night.
On the road, Joe was walking up the mountain when he heard someone up ahead say, "Whoa there! What are you up to, Joe?"
From behind a rock, Gomamon showed himself and said, "Joe, you're not going to climb that mountain by yourself, are you?"
"Gomamon," Joe asked.
"Yep," Gomamon answered. "Forgotten me already?"
"Why don't you go get some sleep," said Joe.
But Gomamon had other ideas. "Not happening."
"Yes it is," Joe argued.
Gomamon then turned his head and said, "I don't think so."
Joe simply ignored him and walked passed him, but stopped as soon as he realized that Gomamon was serious about following him. "You're not going, so quit following me around."
"I'm not," said Gomamon. "You see I have some business to take care of up there. Everything doesn't revolve around you."
Another voice came out, "You should listen to your partner."
Joe looked and saw Naruto and Dorumon walked up the road to catch up.
"What are you two doing up," Joe questioned.
"That's what I want to ask you," said Naruto. "It's so late."
Joe answered with depression, "I'm trying to climb Infinity Mountain. I want to make sure it's safe to climb for everyone. I'm sure it's safe for you and Hinata, but we've never been here and who knows what changes have happened since the last time you two were here."
"There is such a thing as being too careful," said Naruto.
Joe then had enough and said, "You know, that's the third time today you and Hinata told me that."
"And yet, you don't even realize what we mean, do you," Naruto questioned.
"Alright, alright," Joe answered. "I get it…! I'm useless…!"
"I'm telling you this because you don't get it," Naruto echoed Kakashi's words. "You think you get it, but that's not the same as actually getting it, get it?"
Joe had no answer this time.
"Look, why are you really going up Infinity Mountain," Naruto questioned.
Joe then sighed and then answered sincerely, "I don't know what my role in the group is anymore. I was the voice of reason, but you turned out to be better than I am. I'm also supposed to be the reliable one, but Hinata took that from me. Without either of those two, I'm pretty much worthless."
Naruto then sighed before answering, "I'm sorry you feel that way Joe. But you must remember, Hinata and I are just your teachers. Excluding us, you're probably the most reliable of all and the voice of reasoning."
Naruto continued, "Someday, Hinata and I won't be there to guide you guys and you need to be prepared when that happens."
Joe didn't understand what Naruto meant at first, but then remembered that he and Hinata were from a completely different world, which meant that one day, they will have to return home and reunite with all their friends and family.
Moments later, Joe and Gomamon walked up Infinity Mountain with Naruto and Dorumon by their side. As they climbed the mountain, Naruto's incredible stamina was proving to be quite useful for him, especially since he was carrying a heavy bag of scrolls. Dorumon wasn't far behind him. At the same time, Joe was getting a little tired, realizing just how big Infinity Mountain was.
"Infinity Mountain is a lot bigger than I thought," Joe complained.
"Yeah, that's what I thought at first two," said Dorumon. "When Makuramon brought me and Lunamon here for the first time, he gave us a tour of the island and told us to be careful if we ever came up Infinity Mountain. He was even kind enough to show us how big it was, telling us that Unimon would be here if we needed help, but still advised us not to go looking for trouble."
"Who is Makuramon," Joe asked.
"That's right, you guys were asleep when we met him," Naruto acknowledged.
As the four continued to climb Infinity Mountain, Naruto and Dorumon explained their encounter with Makuramon to Joe and Gomamon. They were careful to leave out the part about the whole Digidestined prophecy and what they were going to be in for after File Island.
Elsewhere on the mountain, Sasuke, Sakura, Aegiomon, Lalamon, Ogremon, and Pandamon exited Devimon's hideout, all armed with Black Gears.
"Alright, we all know our missions," said Sasuke. "Pandamon, Ogremon, you deal with Leomon and Makuramon. Sakura, Lalamon, you two take care of the Digidestined. Aegiomon and I will head over to the mansion."
"Right," everyone agreed.
"Alright, let's move out," Sasuke announced.
Everyone then went their separate ways.
At the cave, Hinata woke up at the first rays of sunlight, Lunamon waking up at the same time. However, the two then noticed that Naruto, Dorumon, Joe and Gomamon were all missing.
"Hinata, where do you think they went," Lunamon asked.
"I think I know," Hinata looked in the direction of Infinity Mountain, using her Byakugan to locate them.
On the mountain, Naruto, Dorumon, Joe and Gomamon were taking a break next to a small fountain. While Naruto had so much energy to spare, Joe was wiped out. The same difference was true to for Dorumon and Gomamon, with Dorumon still having energy to spare while Gomamon was tired. Naruto thought about carrying Joe on his back, but chose not to, fearing that he might have his pride dented. By now, Naruto had finished his story of his and Hinata's encounter with Makuramon.
"So this Makuramon guy wanted to test you and Hinata," said Joe.
"More or less," Naruto answered.
"I can't believe this," said Joe trying to wrap his head around this. "Who are these Devas and who are the Sovereigns they serve?"
"I wish I knew," Naruto answered. "All Hinata and I know is that there are 12 Devas and 4 Sovereigns."
"This is a lot to take in," said Gomamon.
"I get the feeling that there's more to come," said Dorumon as he spotted something flying towards them in the distance.
In the direction of the sun, there was a salute of a flying horse-like Digimon. As it got closer everyone could see that it was wearing a mask with a horn on it and a visor. Naruto took out his D-Power and got info on him.
"That's Unimon," Naruto read. "Mythical Beast Digimon, Champion Level, special attack, Holy Shot."
"Oh we don't have to worry about Unimon," said Gomamon. "He's a wise old Digimon, not much of a talker, but he's very gentle. I never knew he lived in these mountains."
"He must be coming down to have a drink from that fountain," Joe correctly guessed as Unimon landed next to the fountain and began drinking from it. "I guess that's his watering hole."
"I've met Unimon before too," Naruto told them.
"Maybe Unimon will tell us what we need to know," Gomamon deduced. "Then we can go back to the others."
Gomamon then walked up to Unimon and said, "Hello Unimon, it's me, Gomamon. It's been a long time since we saw each other."
Unimon looked and saw Gomamon. "Oh, hello Gomamon. I see you've Digivolved since we last met. What brings you up here?"
"Well, we were wondering if you could tell us about what's up here," said Gomamon.
Unimon then looked and saw Naruto, Joe and Dorumon. "I see you have some friends with you. If it isn't you again, Naruto and Dorumon."
"Been a while," Naruto replied.
Suddenly a voice was heard. "Oh isn't that nice."
Everyone looked up and saw Sakura and Lalamon standing on the wall, much to Joe's shock.
"What the, how is she doing that," Joe gasped.
"The same way Hinata and I can walk on water," Naruto explained.
"I'd hate to but in, but I've got some business to take care of," Sakura took out her Black Gear and threw it like a shuriken at Unimon's back.
Before could react, the Black Gear struck his back, causing him to whine in pain from the strike. Moments later Unimon's eyes began to glow behind his visor and he looked towards the group with hostile intent.
"Unimon, destroy them," Sakura ordered while pointing towards, Naruto, Dorumon, Joe and Gomamon.
Unimon then started marching towards the group, ready to attack them at a moment's notice.
Back at the cave, Sora woke up yawning, "I sure slept well."
"I hope so," said Hinata. "We have to get moving."
"Huh, why the rush," Sora asked.
"Joe went up Infinity Mountain last night while we were asleep," Hinata explained. "Naruto went with him to make sure he was safe, but now they're both in danger."
"Oh no," Sora gasped. "Everybody wake up! We have an emergency!"
Meanwhile on Infinity Mountain, Leomon and Makuramon were walking across another pathway when they sensed that they were being tracked.
"I sense danger," said Leomon.
"I sense a trap," Makuramon agreed.
Suddenly, Ogremon and Pandamon jumped off a ledge and attacked the two.
"Leomon, you may be mighty, but now you face me," said Ogremon. "Your kind-hearted leadership is unimpressive!"
"And Makuramon, you may be one of the Devas, but even you will fall pray," said Pandamon. "Just as your Sovereigns have fallen, so will you…!"
"Ogremon, you are truly the most foolish of the bad Digimon," said Leomon. "There is no limit to your stupidity."
"And Pandamon, you were once a great leader of Toy Town, but now you have been tainted by the Black Gears" said Makuramon. "I will not allow that."
Ogremon attacked Leomon with his bone club, but Leomon counted with his sword. The impact caused both weapons to fly out of their hands. Meanwhile, Pandamon and Makuramon used their Fire Cracker and Primal Orb attacks on each other, causing an explosion in midair.
"No one asked you here and no one wants you here," said Ogremon to Leomon. "I strongly suggest you go now while you still can."
"That is if you can get off this mountain, which I doubt," said Pandamon to Makuramon. "I'd really like to see you try."
"The endless attack of Black Gears is transforming perfectly peaceful, innocent Digimon into monsters, and we have come here to make it stop," said Leomon with determination in his eyes.
"And as a Deva, it is my duty to make sure that this suffering stops before it is too late," Makuramon added.
"What a joke," said Ogremon. "You both have been warned."
"PUMMEL WHACK…!"
"FIRE CRACKER…!"
"PRIMAL ORB…!"
"FIST OF THE BEAST KING…!"
Once again, Makuramon and Pandamon used their Fire Cracker and Primal Orb attacks on each other. At the same time, Leomon punched to fire energy from his fist in the shape of a lion's head while Ogremon fired a dark version of Leomon's attack. The collision of their attacks caused a massive explosion that destroyed the terrain around them.
"Now Ogremon," said Pandamon, taking advantage of the cloud of smoke left from the explosion.
"Right," said Ogremon.
Both threw a Black Gear at their opponents. Before Leomon and Makuramon could react, they were struck by the gears and were tainted.
On the other side of Infinity Mountain, Unimon continued to attack Joe and Gomamon as Sakura and Lalamon dealt with Naruto and Dorumon.
"Having a good time, dear guests," said Unimon. "I'm in the mood for a game of HOLY SHOT…!"
Unimon spat a qigong shot from his mouth. The attack struck the mountain side, causing rocks to fall and forcing Joe and Gomamon to take shelter.
"Do something Gomamon," said Joe.
"Like what," Gomamon questioned.
Unimon then appeared in front of them and said, "You're not thinking of leaving, are you?"
Before Joe and Gomamon could answer, Unimon told them, "That's a perfectly safe road if you're thinking of flying away!"
Unimon then prepared to attack them with another Holy Shot.
Realizing that Naruto and Dorumon had their hands full, Joe said out loud, "We need some help!"
"HOLY SHOT…!"
Unimon was about to fire his Holy Shot, but at the last minute, Birdramon arrived and slammed Unimon into the cliff side, canceling out the attack. Riding her were Tai, Sora, and Agumon
"Birdramon," Joe gasped.
"We've come to save you," said Tai.
"Just in time, I'd say," Joe complimented.
"Are you alright," Sora asked.
"I think so, but Naruto isn't," Joe pointed towards the fighting Naruto and Sakura.
Recognizing that Sakura had a strong arm on her, Naruto entered Sage Mode as a way to better combat his pink-haired teammate and first crush. He even dawned his signature coat from his battle with Pain, which Hinata took time to repair during their time in Odaiba.
"CHAAA…!"
Sakura charged at Naruto and attempted to punch him in her usual faction. Naruto however was able to block it and withstand it.
"You're strong, Naruto," Sakura admitted.
"I haven't exactly been slacking off, Sakura," Naruto told her.
"We'll see," Sakura then jumped back and prepared for another charge.
But at the last moment, Naruto pulled off one of his signature stunts.
"TRANSFORM…!"
Naruto transformed into a naked Sasuke, much to Sakura's shock as she got an instant nosebleed. Next thing she knew, another Naruto came up from behind her with another sneak attack, one from Kakashi.
"LEAF VILLAGE SECRET FINGER JUTSU: ONE THOUSAND YEARS OF DEATH…!"
Naruto struck Sakura with the One Thousand Years of Death. Normally Sakura might have dodged it, having seen its work before from Kakashi, but she was too distracted by the naked form of Sasuke to do anything until it was too late.
"GAAAA…!"
The force of the attack was quite painful, especially with the added strength of Sage Mode, and sent Sakura flying into the air. She didn't stop until she crashed into some rocks.
Tai and the others witnessed this and were shocked by what they saw.
"Did he just," Joe gasped.
"Yeah, I think he did," Tai gasped.
"That was a bad idea," said Sora, feeling real discomfort.
"Do humans always do that to each other," Gomamon asked.
"If so, I'll bet it's only the older ones," said Agumon.
"METAL CANNON…!"
"SEED BLAST…!"
Dorumon and Lalamon attacked each other using their Metal Cannon and Seed Blast attacks respectively.
Suddenly, Sakura burst out of the rocks with a furious expression on her face, one Naruto knew all too well. The moment they saw that face, Tai, Sora, and Joe all screamed in terror as they knew Sakura wasn't playing around anymore, she meant business.
"NARUTO, YOU'RE GOING TO REGRET THAT," Sakura shouted.
Naruto realized too late he fucked up, but was quick to realize he could use this to his advantage.
"JUST WAIT UNTIL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU," Sakura shouted as he cracked her knuckles.
"Yeah, if you get your hands on me, Billboard Brow," Naruto winked at Sakura.
This was the last straw as Sakura jumped at Naruto and attempted to punch him, only for Naruto to narrowly dodge the attack at the last second, causing her to punch the wall instead, his Sage Mode wore off.
"YOU THINK YOU'RE SO CLEVER WHEN YOU CALL ME THAT, DON'T YOU, NARUTO," said Sakura furiously as she tried punching Naruto again and again, but with the same results as the first one. "WELL GUESS WHAT, IT'S NOT… THAT… FUNNY…!"
"I guess, but it suits you," said Naruto as the mountain began to rumble. "Catch…!"
Sakura paused for a moment, only to realize that she fucked up this time as a bunch of rocks came falling down upon her. She managed to catch a big rock, but the force of the rockslide and the cliff made it hard for her to hold on. Next thing she knew, Naruto punched her in the same faction she usually punched him when he was being an idiot.
"CHAAA…!"
Naruto echoed Sakura's catch phrase as he punched her, sending her flying into the other side of the canyon and into the rock pile she was in earlier.
In the distraction, Unimon then broke free of Birdramon's hold and continued his attack.
"HOLY SHOT…!"
Unimon fired his Holy Shot at Birdramon, knocking her from the sky.
"Birdramon," Sora gasped upon seeing her partner be knocked from the air.
"Oh no," Naruto gasped.
Sora made her way down to her partner to see if she was alright.
Sakura then emerged from the rubble and took out her D-Power. "Alright, Naruto. Let's take this up a notch!"
Naruto then took his D-Power, Dorumon and Lalamon got into position. Both Naruto and Sakura then slashed a green card through their D-Powers
"DIGIMODIFY…! DIGIVOLUTION ACTIVATE…!"
"DIGIVOLUTION…!"
Dorumon and Lalamon began to Digivolve
"Dorumon Digivolve to… Dorugamon…!"
"Lalamon Digivolve to… Sunflowmon…!"
Dorumon and Lalamon had Digivolved into Dorugamon and Sunflowmon and prepared to fight one another.
"Well, this is my first time fighting you," said Dorugamon. "Usual Lekismon is the one fighting you."
"You speak like we've been fighting each other for a long time," said Sunflowmon.
"POWER METAL…!"
"SUNSHINE BEAM…!"
Dorugamon and Sunflowmon fired their Power Metal and Sunshine Beam attacks at one another, causing and explosion.
"Agumon," said Tai.
"Right," Agumon began to Digivolve. "Agumon Digivolve to… Greymon…!"
Agumon Digivolved to Greymon and began attacking Unimon to drive him away. But Unimon evaded the attack and struck back, causing Greymon slam into the wall.
"Greymon, are you going to be alright," Tai gasped.
"I think so," Greymon replied as he turned around towards Unimon.
Unimon flew in and struck Greymon, knocking him into the wall again.
"What," Greymon gasped, not believing what had just happened.
"NOVA BLAST…!"
Greymon fired his Nova Blast at Unimon in retaliation. However, Unimon was quick to evade the attack. He then fired another Hole Shot into the wall, knocking more rocks down onto Tai, forcing Greymon to shield him.
"Greymon and Tai are in big trouble," Joe gasped.
Next thing he knew, Sakura punched Naruto in the face, sending him into the rubble she was trapped under earlier, her punch surprisingly weaker than usual. Sunflowmon then struck Dorugamon in the back with another Sunshine Beam, sending him into the rubble as well.
"And it looks like Naruto and Dorugamon aren't fairing any better," Joe gasped before noticing that Unimon was heading for Sora. "Oh no, Unimon is going after Sora…!"
"What do we have here, another uninvited guest," Unimon taunted.
Birdramon then took to the air and attacked.
"METEOR WING…!"
Birdramon used her Meteor Wing attack on Unimon, but the flying horse Digimon evaded the attack and tackled the giant bird. Birdramon dropped from the sky, taking Sora down with her in the process.
"Sora," Joe gasped before spotting the Black Gear Sakura threw into Unimon's back. "The Gear…! I'll get it."
Gomamon was confused. "Are you sure Joe?"
"That sounds rather reckless of you," Sakura called out.
Joe turned his attention to the pink-hair.
"You've always been the cautious one," Sakura criticized, her arms crossed. "Jumping off a cliff to try and hit a moving target, that's not very cautious."
Joe's eyes widened as he finally understood what Naruto and Hinata were trying to tell him earlier. He closed his eyes for a moment before answering, "There is such a thing as being too safe, and in order to make an omelet, you've got to crack a few eggs."
Joe then jumped off the cliff and landed on Unimon's back, right next to the Black Gear. "Alright here we go."
"Hang on Joe," Gomamon called out.
Joe tried to remove the Black Gear, but nothing happened. "Oh no, it won't budge…!"
While Joe continued to pull at the gear, Unimon screamed in pain, causing him to lean backwards. Joe was forced to hand onto the Black Gear in Unimon's back.
"Joe, stop," Gomamon called out. "Don't try to be a hero…!"
"I know, but I just have to do this one thing," Joe replied. "I'm not going to stop until it's done!"
Unimon then began to shake as Naruto emerged from the rubble.
"I have to think positive," Joe told himself. "I'm responsible—I've gotta do it!"
Suddenly, Unimon flung his hips upward, sending Joe flying in the process.
"Oh no," Gomamon gasped as Joe started falling. "NOOOOOO!"
Joe's Digivice then activated. This caused Joe to remember what happened with the others and what Naruto told them. Joe stuck his Digivice out and Gomamon began to Digivolve.
"Gomamon Digivolve to… Ikkakumon," Gomamon had Digivolved into a five meter (16.4 foot) tall walrus with white fur and large horn on his head. He was now Ikkakumon.
As Joe fell, Ikkakumon came to his rescue, cushioning his landing. Joe was surprised that his partner Digivolved.
"Hold on tight Joe, because we're going for a ride," Ikkakumon told Joe.
Naruto checked his D-Power. "Ikkakumon, marine animal Digimon, champion level, special attack, Harpoon Torpedo."
Ikkakumon then tackled Unimon when he got too close, knocking to the ground.
"HOLY SHOT…!"
Unimon fired another Holy Shot at Ikkakumon. But Ikkakumon was quick to evade the attack and counter attacked Unimon.
"HARPOON TORPEDO…!"
Ikkakumon shot a missile from the horn on his head. The missile headed straight for the Black Gear on Unimon's back. But before it could even reach it, something got in the way and destroyed it.
"SUNSHINE BEAM…!"
Sunflowmon fired her Sunshine Beam attack, intercepting Ikkakumon's Harpoon Torpedo and destroying it.
"You're not getting off that easily," Sakura called out.
"The same could be said for you," said Naruto as he tackled his childhood crush.
The two tumbled down as Unimon attacked again.
"HOLY SHOT…!"
"POWER METAL…!"
Before Unimon could fire his Holy Shot, Dorugamon struck him with his Power Metal attack, canceling out the attack.
"Now, Ikkakumon," Dorugamon called out.
"I'm on it," Ikkakumon used his Harpoon Torpedo again while Unimon was destracted.
"HARPOON TORPEDO…!"
The attack struck the Black Gear, destroying it and freeing Unimon in the process.
"The Black Gear just dissolved ," Joe commented. "Yeah! You saved the day!"
At the summer camp, Meiko had just met Meicoomon, a cat-like Digimon. "Hello I'm Meiko, who are you?"
The Meicoomon looked up to her and smiled. "Meicoomon…"
"Meicoomon," Meiko asked. "That's a cute name."
"You really think so," Meicoomon asked.
"Well yeah," Meiko smiled.
Suddenly, another voice came out from the bushes. "Hey, hey, what about me?"
Next thing Meiko knew, a small dog-like creature came out from the same bush Meicoomon was in. This thing had a long red purple tail and had the resemblance of a small Labrador dog. Unlike Meicoomon who looked like an exotic cat, this thing basically looked like an ordinary dog.
"Hi, who are you," said Meiko, repeating her greeting with Meicoomon.
The dog looked up to her and smiled. "Labramon…"
On Infinity Mountain, with the Black Gear destroyed, Unimon flew off once again a wise old Digimon who was very gentle and not much of a talker.
"Hope I didn't shake you too much, Tai," said Greymon.
"Naah," Tai replied with a smile.
"That was a really close call," said Sora.
"Good job," said Joe. "That what I call pulling it together."
"Not bad, Digidestined, but celebrate while you can," said Sakura getting everyone's attention. "You may have won this battle, but the worst has yet to come."
Sakura and Sunflowmon then made their way back to regroup with Sasuke and Aegiomon. Naruto and Dorugamon regrouped with the Digidestined. Everyone reverted back to their rookie forms.
"Wow, Joe, you were jamming out there," said Tai. "You're a pretty good dude after all."
"Yeah, you were so awesome, it made it possible for Gomamon to Digivolve," Sora added.
Joe blushed in embarrassment.
"That's not why I did it," Gomamon pointed out, getting their attention. "It's because I'm just a nice guy and besides, Joe would have fallen on his head. That's why. I didn't have anything better to do anyway."
Joe walked up to Gomamon as he continued, "Hey, if you don't believe me, then put up your dukes and let's fight about it."
"Just chill out, Gomamon," said Joe with a happy face. "You're the best and heroes don't have to fight each other."
Now it was Gomamon's turn to blush in embarrassment. "Oh…heroes?
"Uh-oh, Gomamon's embarrassed," Biyomon teased.
"No way, I'm no such thing," Gomamon replied.
"You are so," said Dorumon.
"Alright you guys, let's get going," Naruto called out. "We're almost at the top, so let's go all the way."
"Yeah," the others agreed.
At the summer camp, Meiko had just met Meicoomon's friend, Labramon, a dog-like Digimon. "Hi, who are you?"
The Labramon looked up to her and smiled. "Labramon…"
"You're such a cute puppy," said Meiko as she picked the two Digimon up and hugged them both. "What are you guys?"
Labramon then looked up at Meiko and said, "We're…"
Meicoomon joined in, "Digimon, Digital Monsters…!"
"Digital Monsters," Meiko questioned.
"Yes, Digimon," Meicoomon and Labramon answered.
Next thing Meiko knew, the Digivice she had started to glow. She wasn't sure what this meant, but her partners knew what it meant.
And that was chapter 12. Yeah as you can see, I gave Meiko a second partner in the form of Labramon. I've watched all of Adventure Tri and I couldn't help but notice that the whole plot seems like an elongated version of the Digimon movie "Battle of Adventurers". In both movies, the main characters from the show meet a girl who has a special Digimon who is involved in a plot that would destroy both worlds, and both revolved around stopping something with Apocalymon's data. Am I the only one who noticed that?
Anyway, as you can see, instead of egg recepies like in the original episode, I had Naruto and Hinata make ramen for the Digidestined. I actually got the idea from an episode of Dr. Stone called "Stone Road" where the main characters recreate ramen. For those of you who haven't guessed already, the ramen that Naruto and Hinata made in this chapter is the same one from the episode "Mix it, Stretch it, Boil it Up! Burn Copper Pot, Burn!". Naruto even mentioned the evens of that episode to the Digidestined as well as his argument with Ayame from the episode "The Old Monk's Prayer".
As I said before, I apologize if chapters 10 and 11 weren't my best chapters since neither of them got a single review initially. Your reviews tell me that you pay attention to my work. On top of that, I had some writer's block and I had other stories to work on. But other than that, I have no excuse for this.
Now the next chapter will take place at the mansion and as you can see, Sasuke helped create it. And then there's Leomon and Makuramon, they will play a part in next chapter that's more active.
Chapter 13: Evil Shows His Face
