Present day- Kori
The sun is what awakes me today, shining directly on my face and it's nice and warm. I love waking up to the sun, I don't like when it goes into my eyes sometimes but waking up to it brings me a feeling of serenity. Dick stirs next to me grumbling his sleep talkings. I brush a hand across his face moving the stray locks of his dark hair out of his face. He feels this grabbing my hand and holding it. As of late I have not been able to get enough of the touching. It makes me feel like we are more connected and with his distance I need it. I need to feel like we are still connected.
"Good morning" I whisper to him, he smiles doing a small stretch to wake himself up.
"Morning baby" He mutters with his eyes still closed, I giggle to him pressing my lips against his smooth forehead.
My communication device, which Dick calls a 'phone' makes a sweet dinging sound, I roll over onto my other side looking into the screen. I have gotten a text from Friend Raven! I cannot wait to see what she has to say, we have been doing the chatting ever since she found herself back at the Tower. It started with a Thank you for not touching her room. I would never betray her so much as to go into her bedroom while she isn't there. Then it has been small dings between then and now of just talking about our friendship.
Raven: Are you going to be around today?
Me:Why of course friend Raven! I wouldn't miss seeing you all again
Raven: Sure Kor, just please respect the personal space. I don't like to be touched
Me: I know. The traumatics have affected your love language. Don't worry I won't hug you unless you want me to do the hugging!
I wait for her response, hoping she enjoys my reply. I didn't understand how Slade could affect how she allows people she knows won't hurt her to show their affection. I know better than to argue though, not because she will hurt me. It's because I want her to feel comfortable around me and so I will do as she requests to earn her friendship back. The Communication device rings again. I look down at it.
Raven: Thanks. See you later.
I grin ear to ear putting the communication device back onto my side table. I move back towards Dick rubbing his head with my hand. He smiles in his light sleep at my touch which makes me feel so happy with him. I love when he likes my touch. He turns on his side wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me into him, I giggle at the feeling of his...ummm he calls it...Morning wood? I move my hips onto it slightly rubbing it with my own area. His eyes peak open.
"Are you trying to get dirty princess Kori?" He asks sleepily, his voice much deep.
"If it'll wake you up" I reply softly his eyes open the rest of the way as he kisses my cheek and neck.
"Okay, wake me up" He says confidently
Breakfast couldn't have come faster, I love food and the butler here makes much great food! It goes amazing with Mustard, all of it. Dick isn't sleepy anymore, which is good because after this morning if he was I would have been offended. It is the best way to make him awake. He uses the thick sugar liquid on his pancakes but I eat mine with Mustard, I still get the occasional glance from little Damian but I don't mind. I just smile at him as he eats his own breakfast. I get to see my friends today, it'll be a great day.
Present Day- Dick
I don't think Bruce liked the idea of Jason putting himself into yet another situation to go to the bad side, however I think me telling him it was my idea lessened the anger inside of him. Jason and I haven't been getting along but I don't want him to be our enemy. It's been a couple days and we haven't heard anything from him, we haven't heard anything to make sure they accepted him. We don't even know if he is safe and alive. Though knowing Jason he would have figured out a way out anything. He's always been able to do that, hell he even found out a way to come back from Death. I am sure that he is okay. That doesn't stop the worry though. I guess family does that.
However, what I didn't expect was the worry I feel as Kori and I wait in the Batcave, I didn't expect the nerves of seeing Raven again to come up. She, Beastboy, and Cyborg would be here at any moment. Teleporting here now that they know they are being watched they chose teleporting here would be safer than trying to fly or drive here. Kori holds my hands tightly, a little too tight but I don't tell her I know she is just excited about seeing everyone again.
"Where do you think she will come in at?" Kori giggles
"I don't know, it'll be in the shadows. It's the easiest way she can teleport" I reply
"I came in behind you" A voice monotones behind us, I almost jump a mile at hearing it.
I turn around seeing all three of them. Kori runs picking to hug Cyborg first, her arms tightening around him. I can hear his small grunts but he doesn't say anything about her strength. Raven steps back to allow for Kori to welcome both of her best friends back. I try to make eye contact with her through the chaos but she avoids my gaze. I guess some things never change. Kori stands back near me again almost hopping with excitement.
"Welcome to the Home again" She gleefully says I chuckle putting a hand on her lower back
"Thank you for coming" I say, they both nod, Raven doesn't do anything.
"So you gave me the dream?" She asks finally staring into me...almost through me. I nod slowly pressing my lips together
"Tess did, she didn't want to go through with their mission anymore so she came to tell us everything in return she wanted help getting her girlfriend out of captivity. Only problem, we don't know where she is actually being held. She said Reverse Flash told her however, that doesn't mean he even really knew." I explain, at the mention of Tess's name Raven flinches, small but enough for me to pick it up. I know her like the back of my hand.
"I see" Is all she says in response, she has always been someone of few words.
"So when do we do this? We can't just go in without a plan. That's how people get killed" Cyborg says, I nod looking around the group of people, even with how much Raven hates me I get a feeling of things being back to the way they used to be. The way she reserves herself in the back of the room.
"Friend Raven!" Kori gleefully says waving, Raven simply nods at her. I look between the two. "Are you the proud? I did as you asked. I did the respecting of the personal spaces"
"Yes, thank you Kori" She says simply, I push the irritation off my face, seriously am I the only person who she hasn't made up with yet? Am I the only person who she is keeping this grudge against. I don't say anything out loud but I can tell she can feel my emotions, her eyes are resting on me but leave when I look at her.
"So is Jason going to be fighting against us or with us?" Gar asks, Raven looks up urgently looking around the room, I can barely see her from under her hood her eyes being the only thing visible.
"Well, I don't know exactly. We didn't get much into a way of a plan. Tess had to go back to them or they would get suspicious so Jason went back with her. I think it was another way to secure the life of her girl." I reply, Kori hugs my arm lightly she has been having a thing with touch lately.
"Do you think they will figure it out?" Gar asks nervously, I shake my head in response
I beckon for everyone to follow me to the computer, sliding into the seat and putting in my password, luckily the tabs from before are still open. It shows me the blueprints from the area Tess told us about, it's a bunker underneath an abandoned factory. The bunker was part of the original blueprints since it was supposed to be for protection during the nukes in WWII. Pointing to an off area of the bunker.
"Tess says the meet in the middle, however here is where she thinks they are holding her girlfriend. She says that it's the only door without a window and is locked at all times, the rest of the rooms down there are used by Taila and Cheshire to sleep in. Witch Boy I guess does his own thing she doesn't know where, and Reverse Flash just...runs I guess. She didn't know much" I explain, Cyborg nods
"How does she know for sure they have her girlfriend?" he asks
"Video, they live stream her in the room to Tess so she doesn't forget what she is doing the mission for" I explain, he nods clicking on something from his wrist gadget. He looks over to the blueprints inputting something into his arm. The bright blue keypad lighting up with every touch.
"Okay, there is something being livestreamed in that room but it doesn't mean it's her. It's very possible but we have to think smart about this" He replies
"Beastboy can go in as a fly and check" Raven suggests
"I could, but if the Reverse flash figures out we aren't at the tower they could be looking for green bugs" He squeals. It doesn't sound much like a squeal with his deeper voice.
We all fall into a silence, everyone thinking of a plan we could use. The lights would be one which means Raven can't teleport into their without draining every ounce of energy. That also means she wouldn't be able to teleport out. Jason could find out but it would make him look like he is working with us still. I release a sigh as I get annoyed with my lack of ideas. Maybe we shouldn't be trying to make sure Zari is there, but just storming it anyway.
"Why do we need to make sure she is there?" I ask, everyone's eyes fall on me. Most in confusion, however Kori just looks at me with soft features. Ready to defend my choice if no one else does, it's one of the reasons I adore her so much. She will always be by my side.
"I don't know what you mean?" Cyborg says "We can't just go rush into a place without knowing for sure if the person we need to save is even there"
"Let's not focus on her. Why don't we use this as an opportunity to take them down. Think about it, trying to check to make sure she's there puts one of us at risk. It can't be Gar...he has a daughter we have to think about. Raven won't be able to go in and out without hurting herself and we can't trust the lights will be turned off. If they are, they are going to know to go straight to the room. Putting Jason in a bad spot to hurt Raven or watch someone hurt Raven" I explain, everyone seems to agree me, even Raven who has taken a step back to give herself some room to breath. I guess bringing up the situation with Jason still is painful.
"That's if they catch me" Raven says
"Do you want to risk it?" I ask "Because I don't"
"It's not up to you. Tim or Vic can turn off the lights, I can teleport in grab her teleport out. By the time they get into the room she will be gone. We just need to make sure Tess is also gone." She replies, I release a breath shaking my head.
"Raven it's too dangerous. I don't think you need to be put in that situation" I say, she rolls her eyes
"Dick, I am not asking. I am telling you this is the plan. You called me out here for my help. This whole thing is dangerous. I was stabbed three times by these people and barely made it out." She replies, no one steps up to help me out here, I look at Kori hoping she would have my back but she holds her left arm with her right taking a nervous step towards Raven.
"We cannot do the over protecting." Kori says, I forcefully exhale looking between the four of them, all of them taking her side. I guess I am the odd one out here.
"Fine. Let's figure out the rest of it then"
Present day- Jason
I feel anxious. That's the first thing I notice when Taila walks into the quarters she said were mine. Here in this bunker it's kind of hard to tell the difference between all the rooms, and they are small. Nothing like my room at the manor. I could fit three of these rooms into my room at the manor. It's like a broom closet almost. Though I don't complain to them I have had enough of the Bat family and I need to keep it that way.
At least Tess was able to make up for however she fucked up. She hasn't told me what she messed up with yet and no one else seems to want me to know. I don't think they realize I know she is the one who tried to kill Raven, but is that what she messed up with? Not completing the job? I thought it was Witch Boy's job because he is the one who wanted her powers to begin with. There is too many unanswered questions for me to feel comfortable with my choice to join them.
One thing I am happy about though is being able to avoid the awkward interaction that I would have when Dickhead brought Raven and the rest of the team there. Surely she got the message but I don't know how to talk to her about anything. Sometimes I think it's better if I don't say anything at all. Give her some space and let her say what she wants when she wants. We all have seen how trying to force her to talk with you about things she isn't ready to talk about yet makes her feel like she needs to defend herself. Then she shuts you out. That is the last thing I want. Though, I can't say I would blame her if she did.
"You know, if it comes down to it we might need your help getting the threat off our backs" Taila says putting her hands gracefully in front of her, I nod taking off my boots.
"Yes I know, but you should know I won't kill them. They are still my brothers" I say she nods
"Well I am glad to hear that, because I would not ask you to harm my son in any way" she says, I click at my tongue looking around the bland dark room.
"I won't hurt her either" I speak up, she holds her breath only for a moment before nodding
"If I made you do that I would lose you, I have no intentions on doing either" She replies, I know that is a lie. She only said that because I told her I wouldn't. I don't care how much I am trying to be under cover. I refuse to hurt Raven in any way. Anymore ways than I already have.
"I will help you lose them, get them off our trail but I won't hurt any of them. They are my family" I repeat, I need her to really understand the positions she can't put me in. Not that I plan on staying here long, but the longer she doesn't expect me to hurt them the longer I can play this off.
"Jason, how am I sure you are on my side?" She asks her voice turning a serious tone. I stand facing her, getting close to her, she falters slightly taking in my height.
"I left my family to be here with you. I gave up every chance I had at getting my girl back to here with you. If you don't appreciate that. I can leave right now just tell me." I reply lowly, I put sternness in my voice letting her know I have no intention to talk about this.
She doesn't reply right away looking away from my eyes and to my body, she lets a finger trance my chest through my shirt rubbing her other hand up my leg. I roll my eyes catching her hand before it reaches my member.
"That's not what I'm here for" I say sternly her eyes lower almost into a pout.
"I just wanted things to be like how they used to be" She purrs, I shake my head refusing to allow her to bring up those times. I was a child. She had no right to put a finger on me. I didn't know what I was doing or with who I was doing it with.
"I'm not your type anymore. I'm not Batman and I'm not a minor. I am not here to be touched by you. I am here to help with the mission" I say. I can tell this has offended her by her defensive stance but she doesn't argue. Turning on her heels to walk out of the room. For a moment I think I blew it. I gave myself away. Before I never would have denied her. Even after the pit I had so much rage and hormones pumped into my veins I would slam fuck her against any surface in the room. That's not what I want with her anymore. The door closes with a small Slam and I exhale longly. I hope this doesn't go on for much longer. I already don't like the way being on the wrong side is starting to make me feel.
