When we got to the village, we could tell that Sin had been there. The only building untouched was the temple. So we headed there. After putting the children down to sleep, I asked Braska to follow me. When we were out of the temple, I turned to face Braska.
"This is where Yuna is meant to grow up. Here is where she will become a summoner." I breathed. Braska looped his arms around me and stayed quiet for a couple of minutes.
"Will Yuna bring the eternal calm? Are you sure?" He asked and I nodded. Then he asked something that broke my heart.
Then will she be happy?" I had to tell him and hope that I didn't mess things up.
"Yuna will go through her own trials both during and after her journey. But in the end, she will be happy." I whispered. He nodded into my shoulder and I could feel a hot wetness there. My first question was: was he crying? And when I heard a sob escape his lips, I knew he was.
"Yuna will follow her own path, one filled with laughter. And when there are sad times, she will smile and laugh while remembering the happy ones. She will be strong. I will be there to guide and protect her." I told him gently. His tears slowly stopped, and he looked into my eyes.
His eyes still glistened with tears, and were red from crying. But the small smile that formed on his face told me that he understood that I would treat Yuna like my own daughter.
"Let's go back before Auron comes looking for us." I told him, and he nodded. Just as we were about to enter the temple, Auron and Jecht walked out with worried expressions on their faces.
When they saw us, they visibly relaxed. But Auron took one look at Braska's face, and demanded to know what happened.
"He misses Yuna. So we talked about her, and he started crying. That's all." I told him. Auron understood, thank the stars. I pulled Braska into the room we were sharing with the boys, and laid down. He smiled and laid down into my welcoming arms. After a few minutes we were asleep.
The next morning after we woke up and got ready, we headed to the trials. As soon as we entered, I took the lead. I touched the glyph on the wall in front of me, then the one to the right. The door opened and I led them down the stairs. Halfway down the stairs, I found the glyph sphere and grabbed it.
Soon we were at the doors, I took the sphere to open the door and once it was open, I grabbed the sphere once again. We headed down the corridor and to my left was the door to the Destruction Sphere. In went the glyph sphere and I grabbed the Destruction Sphere.
Handing the Sphere to Auron, I returned to the trials. As soon as I saw the glyph to my right, I put my hand on it. This revealed the Besaid Sphere. I grabbed that and told Auron to put the Sphere he was holding into that spot. I turned around and straight ahead I found the recess that would lead to the chamber of the Fayth. Placing the Besaid Sphere in there, opened the door, but a loud boom distracted me.
I turned and followed the echo of the boom to a chest. Opening it up, I found a staff that seemed to pull to Braska. I only knew that because Braska's eyes gleamed when he saw it. To me, the only logical thing was that it was his Ultimate Weapon. Well now, I thought, this was an interesting development.
