12. KHH Chapter 3 Final Act

The last time we left off, we found ourselves still on the Empire Comic with Eris as she was dealing with Shadow and his rage. She and Eclipse ran for their lives only to be cornered by him in the training arena with no way out. The only choice they had was to fight. But sadly it ended badly for her and Eclipse, and the young-lings. All of them ended up in the medical wing of the Empire Comet. After the battle we left off with Eris sitting with Eclipse in the middle of the night unable to sleep. As she sits by his bedside Shadow pays her a visit. He threatens her yet again to stay away from Eclipse and the young-lings. As they have a stair down her grandfather shows up wondering why she was there in the middle of the night. After she tells him, she gathers the young-lings and walks away only to be followed by her grandfather. As they walk they get into a disagreement to the point Black Doom steps in offering her the truth of what was truly going on. He takes her to his private gardens and from there he tells her everything of what had been going on for the past 16 plus years and what was being done about it. He even tells her the truth of why Shadow was as he was. In the end, she and Doom team up together to find the truth of things and the hopes of a loophole of some kind for what was going on. After she makes up with her grandfather as well where she comes to the conclusion that he has a spy within his ranks who could have found the loophole he had been seeking for the last 16 plus years and have hidden it. Eris forms a plan to figure everything out before it is too late...(AN: Hey all CJ here. So I forgot the Fun Fact section last time, but I wanted to clear up some things. But as you read you will see some weird ass words lol. I was trying something new and different for the whole of BEYOND fowl language works so as to not OFFEND people. But as you read you will see when and how they are used by someone's reaction. Not all the new languages I've been using are bad. Like Malak Fruit, just the fruit bit would describe someone as sweet. But other words like "Helecia Morlaca" well lets just say in my AU world it's one of many lowest of low words you can call someone like Shadow who is a High Ranking Prince and Knight. So anything of the like you see, remember just read the characters reaction and you should get the feeling of whether it is a good or bad meaning. CHAPTER 3

FINAL ACT

SEP 15th 4AM IN BLACK DOOMS GARDEN….

So you're telling me that for the last five years I had my memories… my TRUE memories locked away?

Shadow and his father Doom were deep within the gardens near where Shadow has his own garden. Black Doom told him everything as instructed by Eris. Shadow looked at his father, confusion clear on his face as he tried to comprehend everything at once.

"Yes my son, this is correct. I did it in order to make sure you would be more willing to do what was needed to be done."

Shadow crosses his arms looking at his father.

And do pray tell what was that needed to be done to the point you had to lock away my true memories?

Sighing he could see that Shadow was getting annoyed.

"I needed you to train and become Black Voids Black Knight in order to protect him and Eris. Trinity is a threat to us all. If she was to take over Black Fog would have his way with her and use her to rule the universe with an iron fist. No one would be safe."

Shadow looks at his father then turns away from him thinking. He wondered if what his father was telling him was true or not? But something in him told him otherwise. Yet something in the back of his mind said that the feelings he was developing for Eris was something from long ago. Something from another time, and another him. He drops his arms and walks off a bit and stops at his rose and looks at them. He looks at them for a long time remembering when he was successful in making them. They were his crowning achievement after becoming a Black Knight to Lord Void. When he heard how Eris was in danger that day something came over him. Something he didn't recognize. He now thinks of what his father told him as he closes his eyes deep in thought.

He remembers how scared part of him had been that day when she went into cardiac arrest. It was as if a version of himself was scared of losing her, even though the Shadow he was right now had never met her, not till she woke up earlier this month. She had said she knew him even when he didn't know it. Saying they had a past together growing up and more. It confused him at the time and he didn't know why. She even had tried to say something about them being best friends and something more, but Black Void had spoken up then. What was it? What was she going to say before Black Void interrupted? As he thinks this over he was starting to wonder if he did now? On why he had been acting the way he was of late to her, because of everything. He remembers from a few days ago when she was in call with her friends. He remembers the Azure Hedgehog and when he first meets him back on Mobius. When he had him pinned to the wall it felt as if he knew him somehow as their eyes met. Yet he didn't know or understand why. Then in her room after the call… the way he treated her that night… as if she was his toy to play with. To control. To ravish even.

"Shadow?"

Hmm?

"Shadow what is wrong my son?"

Shadow looks at his father sighing.

Wondering if anything you're telling me is true or not? I am confused to say the least. Part of me believes you, yet the other not so much, and I don't know what to do, think or say.

"Then maybe allow me to show you everything by unlocking just a bit of your memory?"

Why not all of it at once?

"Because, if I was to do everything at once it could do more harm than good. Eris believes that if we do everything at once I could cause some disorder among everything and one."

I see.

Shadow thinks for a bit looking away for a moment. After everything he had done to her, she was still willing to trust him. But why? Why would she after every mean nasty thing he had done to her in the last few weeks? To him it didn't make sense at all. But something told him he had to trust her, but at the same time he wanted answers as well. But was this the only way to do it? Was there not another way to do so? Sighing and shaking his head Shadow looks to his father and answers him.

Let me speak with Eris first before we do this. I need to clarify something first.

"What do you mean Shadow?"

Listen, everything you told me just now is to say in the least bit confusing to me. I need time to clear my head and think first before anything. So just give me time to do so.

"Very well son, if that is your wish I will allow it. But try not to wait too long Eris needs an answer soon. For now do what you must and try not to harass her any more please."

No promises there I am afraid. She's too cute when she gets riled up, plus it's fun to annoy her.

He tells him with a sly smirk. Doom sighs shaking his head at Shadow.

"Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you if she rips you to pieces."

Duly noted father, and it will be well worth it. Now if you please excuse me I think I'm going to take some of these to Eris and have a talk with her.

"Very well. But wait a few hours before you do. I am sure she is resting right now with being up most of the night."

Do not worry, I won't wake her I promise.

With that, Shadow walks off going deeper into his garden to pick some fresh Empire Roses for her. He needed time to think as is on everything he was told, and hearing how Eris was in need of an answer soon he needed to know more before he gave his own. Not to say part of him felt bad at how he had been treating her of late and he wanted to try and make amends for it all.

5:30AM ERIS ROOM….

In truth for the last hour and half Eris hadn't been able to fall asleep like she wanted to. Try as she might she just couldn't do it. There was too much on her mind after the meeting with Doom and what he had told her. She wondered if he had told Shadow everything and what he thought about it. She wondered if he rejected him or even allowed him to try to unlock his memories or anything at all. Sighing, she rolls over and watches the young-lings, Blurk, Cregal, Cyzer and Rhygenta sleep soundly. Cyzer wakes up a bit and yawns out as he looks over at Eris half a sleep. She smiles at him and gently pets him. He makes a clicking coo like sound at her and she giggles.

Go back to sleep Cyzer it's still very early yet.

He looks at her tiling his head at her and chirps at her. Getting the feeling she understood him she answers him softly.

I'll be fine, I just can't sleep right now. But you need it so curl back up and go back to sleep alright?

He yawns out again and nods and closes his eyes once more. Sighing, Eris rolls back onto her back putting her hands behind her head staring up at the ceiling. Closing her eyes she thinks back to her mother and wonders what things would be like if she was still alive today. She never got to know her and wanted to know that she saw what her Black Arms form looked like. She wondered if she would ever have such grace and beauty like her. She wondered what her Mobian Form looked like for that matter.

Sighing and growing frustrated, she throws the covers off herself and walks over to her floor length mirror and looks at herself. She had put on one of her shorter nightwear sets. Just a cute little tank top with pastel yellow moon and stars on it that was in a soft purple color. She had matching panties that had lace around the legs and waist and had a little pastel yellow bow. Sighing, she walks over to her window and looks down on Mobius as she holds herself. She thinks about her friends down below and wonders how they have been doing since their last call. She wondered how if anyone Scourge was doing she missed him like hell. She wondered how the plan was doing to catch Sally trying to take her down. Why she wanted to to start with.

She was so lost in thought that she didn't hear the doors to her room hiss open and someone walking in, so she was a bit surprised when she heard the soft gentle voice.

Princess, what are you doing up?

Jumping half startled, she turns around and she sees Shadow standing in her doorway.

S-Shadow?!

He chuckles at her softly and smiles at her.

Sorry I didn't mean to startle you, your Majesty.

N-no it's fine. I was just lost in thought was all. But what are you doing here?

Well to start off, I brought you some of my rose again.

It was then that she saw the rose in his arms.

May I?

Yes of course. Please come in Shadow.

He walks in and over to her vanity table and lays the roses down walking over to her when he sees that she had turned back around and was holding herself once more.

Is...everything alright Princess?

She keeps looking out the window and sighs. Not looking at him she answers him.

To be honest? I don't know? Your father dropped a lot on me today, not to say I found out something as well. I am confused about a lot of it and I don't know what to do. Without my friends up here next to me…

She lets out a deep sigh letting her arms drop as she places her right hand on the window resting her forehead on it as she goes on.

Without my friends up here next to me I'm lost, and confused. Whenever this happens I could always call them up or go see them and talk to them about it. But sadly I don't even have that option to do that.

She closes her eyes as a tear falls down her right cheek. She lets out a sniffle and Shadow looks at her. He reaches out to place a hand on her shoulder, but he thinks better of it and lets his hand drop sighing as well as his ears fall back.

If it helps any, I spoke to my father shortly after you did. Well to be honest I kind of eased dropped on you two without letting my presents be known to the two of you.

What?!

She looks over at him in surprise as she backs up a bit. She wipes her eyes.

T-T-then you know everything?

I do, but…

But?

Well as I was eavesdropping on you both the images that my father showed you confused me.

So...you didn't let him unlock any of your memories then?

No not yet. But only because when I was in there I saw things I don't know if I wish to remember or not.

What do you mean?

I told you that when we first met, that I didn't know who you were, that it was the first time we've met. That I didn't know any of the people you mentioned was etc etc. but for some strange reason I remember her. I don't know why but I did.

You mean my Mother?

But he told me he locked even those memories away from you as well.

I think he did to be honest. But when I was with you both something clicked into place. Like a puzzle piece that was lost for a long time.

Eris takes a tentative step forward looking at him.

D-do you remember anything else?

Vaguely.

Why did you invade mine and your fathers mental connection, and how did you manage to CLOAK yourself from him or me?

He rubs the back of his head sheepishly and chuckles.

Yeah… I was already on my way to see both you and him. I was going to make myself known to the both of you when I heard him telling you about my past and what he did to me, then how he told you of what was going on with Princess Trinity. It was nearly the same thing that your grandfather told me.

Then….than you believe him and me both?

I think I do, yes?

But if what you say is true, then the way I've been acting towards you of late is not the real me. I think I kind of believe the real me was someone you once knew, and now that I saw what I did I think maybe I owe you an apology for everything I did to you.

Shadow?

Shadow goes and kneels down on one knee placing his right fist over his heart and bowing his head to her. Eris was taken back by this gesture as she stepped back holding her fists close to one another and over her mouth.

Princess...no… ERIS… could you ever find it your heart to forgive me for everything I have done to you these past couple weeks and forgive my foolishness and stupidity. I truly am sorry I put you through too much without ever realizing how much you were already going through as was. I should have treated you better, and understood more, and I wish to help you in any way I can. So please can you forgive me?

S-S-Shadow I….

He looks up at her when hearing his name and their eyes meet. Crimson Ruby red meeting Two tone secretarial heterochromia. For a moment she saw the old Shadow in those Crimson Ruby eyes. She tilts her head at him as she looks at him wondering if he was really telling the truth or not. Wondering if he meant it or not? Shaking her head, her eyes narrow as she gets slightly annoyed.

How….how do I know you're not trying to pull a fast one on me this time? How do I know you won't attack me out of the blue, threaten me, or worst like you have been? How do I know you won't betray me?!

Her voice reaches an octave, waking up the young-lings. Shadow lowered his ears as far back as they would go, turning his head away, saddened by her words knowing they were true. The young-lings look over and see Shadow and they fly over to Eris growling, chirping and sending angry clicking noises at him warning him to back off. Eris watches them as she looks at Shadow and back to them. Just as Eris was about to say something, Cregal rears back and zips off attacking Shadow. The others follow suit and start attacking him as well. Eris stands there astonished unsure what to do. She watches them and Shadow waits for him to stop them himself but he never does. He lets them attack him. Sighing and looking away she finally gives in and yells at them

THAT'S ENOUGH YOU FOUR! LET HIM BE!

Eris walks over and shoos the young-lings away from Shadow and they back off sending angry chirps and clicking sounds at her.

Listen I don't know what you're saying alright? But attacking him when he isn't attacking you to start with is WRONG! I know you are upset with him for what he did to Eclipse, I don't blame you at all. But he came here to see me with no ill intent at all but only to apologize to me for how he had been treating me of late.

Sighing, Shadow gets up looking at the young-lings from behind Eris.

They're saying that you shouldn't be so forgiving to someone who is a heartless Chinniac Kudact and that I shouldn't be near you at all, stating that they would take me out like I took out Eclipse if I try to hurt you.

Sighing, Eris rubs at her temples slightly annoyed.

First off, remind me to have a word with Eclipse about your foul mouths and teaching you such words, and second, it is MY choice on whether I forgive him or not. Not yours. Now either you four behave or I'll have a chambermaid come and take you four back to the incubator next to Eclipse, and your four can STAY there till he wakes up. Now what will it be?

They stare at her grumbling under their breaths as they reluctantly go back to their makeshift bed she had made them in the top corner of her bed and watch Shadow closely not taking their eyes off him. Sighing deeply, Eris holds herself shaking her head looking away, turning around and going back to the window. Her ears fall back as she bows her head, closing her eyes.

Their right, you know? Part of me hates saying it, but the other part doesn't, but...

Shadow stays where he was and looks away clenching his hands into fists as his droop once more.

Eris I am sorry for everything. I really do want to make it up to you, somehow, someway. If you would just….

STOP Shadow. Just stop and let me finish.

Eris?

He looks at her.

As I was going to say, I know you haven't been yourself since I came back. You're someone different. Someone new. Someone who has gone through his own hardships and more, just like me. We are not the same as we used to be. We grew up, changed, evolved and more. We are not the same kids we used to be five years ago. We are both new to everything going on, and therefore we need to start anew as well…..

She looks up and over at him as tears start to fall once more as she looks at him letting her arms drop as she goes on using them for emphases

Meaning if you truly are sorry for everything you have done to me for the last couple weeks then you need to PROVE to you are. I need to know I can TRUST you Shadow. I need to know that no matter what you will be by MY side always. I need to know that you will be LOYAL to me. FAITHFUL to me. I NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU WON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON ME AGAIN AND HURT ME! I NEED TO KNOW THAT I CAN COUNT ON YOU TO PROTECT ME WHEN I CALL ON YOU! I NEED TO KNOW YOU WILL BE MY BLACK KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR WHO WILL BE ALL THOSE THINGS AND I NEED TO KNOW I CAN COUNT ON YOU TO BE MY FRIEND AGAIN!….I just need….I need to know….

Her whole body starts to shake till at last she can't stand no more and falls down to the floor. Her legs curl to the side as she holds her upper half up with her hands curled into fists as her soft silky hair cascades over her face covering it from his sight. The young-lings see this and they fly over to her in a hurry and start nuzzling her worried for their new friend as they softly chirp and coo at her. The young-lings look at him worried. Sighing, Shadow walks over to her and bends down with his right knee under him as he rests his left arm on his left knee and he holds out his hand to her. She sees his shoe close to her and she looks up at him as she cries. Their eyes met and she could see something in his. Something she had missed for a long time. He smiles softly at her as he speaks in a soft tone.

You won't be alone no more Eris. I promise you I wont ever do that to you again. I promise I won't turn my back on you. I promise I won't hurt you ever again unless there is a reason to. I promise that you can count on me this time. I promise to protect you this time with my life when you call on me. I promise to be your Black Knight in shining Armor who will be there for you no matter what. And I promise that you can count on me to be your friend once again, that is if you will allow me to?

You promise I won't be alone no more up here? I'm so alone up here without my friends Shadow.

I know, and I promise, till you're able to go home, you won't be alone no more.

Eris looks at him as her bottom lip starts to quiver as she launches herself at Shadow taking him off guard as she wraps her arms around him. He falls back in surprise for a moment till at last he smiles and wraps his arms around her and holds her as they hug. The young-lings look to one another then go and fly at the two snuggling their way into any opening they could just to get some love as well. Giggling Eris looks at Shadow smiling at him. He smiles back as Cyzer nuzzles Shadow purring at him. Shadow chuckles and pets him.

So does this mean you four forgive me now as well?

They look at one another and coo, chirp and more to one another. They look at Shadow and it was Cyzer who answers for everyone in chirps and purrs and coos making Shadow chuckles.

OK OK, fair enough. But so you know you're still annoying pests.

They all look at Shadow puffing out their chest making him chuckle more.

What did Cyzer say?

She asks him as she looks at the four.

He said I'm still a Chinniac Kudact, and they're proud of being annoying pests. It's what they do best. But he also said they would think about forgiving me, but only if Eclipse does then will they. So I told them that was fair enough.

Eris giggles at them and shakes her head as she looks to Shadow and he her. They look at one another for a long time till Rhygenta chirps out something a few times making the others chirp in the same tone making Shadow chuckle.

What are they saying now?

They're saying I should do this to you.

Eris tilts her a little bit as Shadow takes hold of her chin and pulls her closely making her blush as their lips meet. She blushes a deeper red as he eyes flutter close and she deepens the kiss. The young-lings chirp out excitedly as Shadow mumbles around their kiss.

You four are annoying as hell.

Agreed.

They keep kissing for a moment longer till they break apart at last.

Two and half hours later…. 8am

Eris was sound asleep in shadows arms as she laid on top of him on the sofa, why the young-lings were back in their makeshift bed asleep. Shadow had Eris covered up with his Cape and he smiled down at her as she slept soundly. They had talked for a bit till Eris started to truly feel like she would pass out. Shadow was going to excuse himself to let her sleep but she wanted him to stay, so he did and they now we're lying on the sofa together. He petted her head softly running his fingers through her silky soft hair. As he pets her he calls to his calls to his father mentally.

"Father, could we speak for a moment please?

Shadow my son, what is it you need.

I wanted to let you know I made my choice on what it is I wanted to do.

Is that so?

Yes sir.

And what is it you wish to do?

I want you to unlock my memories as requested by Eris.

Are you sure? Once the process starts it can not be stopped and it could harm you.

I understand father.

Then come to me and we will start right away.

Actually is there any way we could do it as is? I'm kind of… PREOCCUPIED… right now to say the least, and I really do not wish to wake Eris up right now.

I take it you two talked after all?

Over the course of the next couple of hours, Black Doom goes about unlocking what he thought was safe so as not to harm Shadow, giving back what he took. After about an hour. Black Doom stops and Shadow hugs Eris tighter, making her stir.

Umm… S-Shadow? W-what's wrong?

Shadow looks at her and smiles softly at her before answering her.

I'm sorry Bella I didn't mean to wake you up.

Eris looks at him, still half asleep. She smiles at him sleepily and goes and lays her head back down on his chest snuggling into his arms as she yawns out.

It'sa alright Shady. I do…

It was then Eris ears sat straight up and her eyes snapped open as she pushed herself up a bit as she looked at him surprised.

W-w-what did you just call me?

Well, if I remember right… it was a nickname... that only you allowed only me, and me alone to use. Anyone else….and they got the glare of DEATH from you.

Y-you r-remember? But how? When?

About an hour ago I spoke to my father why you rested and he gave me some of the memories he took back. He did say that was all he would do for now if we do more TOO soon it would put stress on me that he thinks I wouldn't be able to handle.

W-what else do you remember?! Tell me EVERYTHING that you do.

Shadow chuckles at her and he tells her everything he was given back. Tho not much Black Doom figured it would be enough of a start, and when the time was right he would do more unless he started to remember on his own.

Over the course of the next few days, Shadow and Eris started to hang out more and started to get along once again. Shadow was still his new self, with his I'm better than you stuck up attitude which Eris found kind of cute. Today they were in the training arena as Shadow tried to show her how to use Chaos Control, something she has been wanting to learn how to do for ages. Along with it he tried to teach her some other moves along with hand to hand combat skills.

Right now as I've been telling you, Chaos energy is a bit on the wild side. You need to show it who is in charge otherwise you will never learn to control it at all and it will end up doing more bad than good, and right now with only your Chaos Crystal Spear as your only means of attack you will need to learn Chaos Control in order to master other unique moves to call your own. As of right now from what you told me you can use Crystal attacks right?

Yes that's right. It wasn't till a week ago I found out I could even combine my Crystal moves with Chaos powers. It just sort of happened that day. All my life I known where Crystal moves. I mastered them, but that day when you kind of went bonkers, I don't know. It was something that Eclipse pointed out, and what you and grandfather witnessed that.

What was that?

You all told me I was able to use my powers when I should be able to because of using Anarchy Beryl.

That's right I remember now. We were confused to say the least on why that was. Your father told us about Anarchy Beryl and the side effects it has on someone. It's like the Chaos energy from the Master Emerald or the 7 Chaos Emeralds but the more darker side so to say.

Yes that's right. Then the day you attacked me and Eclipse, he told me something that made me think that day you had me cornered.

What was it?

That I'm more Black Arms then I am Mobian. Therefore the rules and laws of Anarchy Beryl don't apply to me. Yet because I used it I am now able to somehow HARNESS Chaos Abilities when I never could before. It's the only logical explanation I can think of.

Shadow thinks for a moment mulling things over, trying to come with some sort of an idea of how this could be.

Do you know of anyone else who is able to use this Anarchy Beryl?

Only two others. One thankfully is dead, at least we all hope he is cause I NEVER want to see him again.

Who's the other?

My boyfriend Scourge. He has used Anarchy Beryl in the past before himself. But when he uses it, it always drained him of his powers. From what I understand Anarchy Beryl is the darker form of the Chaos Emeralds. Whereabouts the Chaos Emeralds GIVE power, the Anarchy Beryl TAKES it rending the user powerless for a long time. At least this is what Scourge has told me. If he was here he would give a better insight on it then I could.

What else do you know of it? From your experience alone?

Well I know that when I used it my fur color changed from the glorified rainbow you see before you, to silver with dark wine and magenta colors. My eyes changed as well. I became stronger than ever before.

What else?

I also noticed that my personality changed as well. That's about it. What are you getting at Shadow?

I'm not fully sure right now, but I think I have some sort of theory. Isn't your red echidna friend knowledgeable about the Chaos Emeralds and Master Emeralds?

He is yes. Why?

As I said it's just a theory, but from what I understand and know, not everyone is able to harness the Chaos given powers right?

Shadow looks over at her as she stands there deep in thought.

I-it's something Knuckles taught me when I was studying with his younger stepbrother Mace. It's called Tikal's Prayer. It is passed down from guardian to guardian.

What it means it is referring to the seven Chaos Emeralds.

Eris giggles at him as she goes on.

That with the Chaos Emeralds, they have the power and ability to turn our thoughts into power. Thus…. If I am assuming right without Knuckles or Maces here to clarify it…. Meaning our thoughts come from our emotions do they not?

I suppose yes, in a way I believe they do.

Then that would mean our power comes from our emotions as well would they?

He hand on a black leather jacket on, Around his neck he had a small silver spiked collar on. His eyes were two toned, his right being a bright vibrant blue, why his left was a golden yellow. He had his silky white mane of hair pulled back into a ponytail. In his ears he had gold and silver bands and studs in them.

The Jackal walks over to Sally and he wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her close to him. She smiles at him and reaches behind her and rubs behind his right ear as he kisses and licks her neck loving manor as she rests her left hand on his arms.

He stops recording and makes a run for it, making sure he wasn't heard. Putting his phone away he looks around to see what he could use should it come down to having to defend himself. As he looks around he sees the Ventilation duct and he gets an idea. It would be a tight fit for him but he knew he had no other choice.

Working quickly he starts to gently pry open the vent and crawls into grabbing a hold of the screen and places it back in place just as the door slowly opens up. It was the female Jackal who looked in and around and not finding him she left. Swiftshot waited it out for a bit till he was sure it was safe to come out. He opens the vent back up and crawls out replacing it and opens the door to the supply closet and looks around. As he looks to make sure the coast is clear he sees someone coming around the corner. He once again cloaks himself in his camouflage and waits for whoever is to come around the corner. Seeing it was someone he knew from his third period class he calls out to them.

He had a stylish head band that held back his hair. His ears were pointed like that of a Mobian fox and were black and tan. His tail was long and fluffy and the same color as his ears were. He had black fingerless gloves on that allowed his fingers and claws to poke out. His attire was a pair of Baggy Cargo Pants with a white tank top on and a red button up shirt over it that was left open. His high tops were nothing too fancy, just a pair of Nyght Soles Blader high tops.

Nodding, Amy takes out her phone and text's Sally.

"Amy: Hey Sally, it's me I was wondering if you have a moment?

Psally: Sure I do. What's up?

Amy: I was wondering if we could meet up some other time to head on over to Rouges for those papers? Or I could bring them with me tomorrow and meet you at the Cafe before school and bring them then?

Psally: Why the change of plans?

Amy: Swifty said he wanted to take me out after school to someplace for the two of us since we haven't had much time together of late with so much going on.

Psally: Oh? Where is he taking you?

Amy: I don't know? I asked him and he said it was a surprise. I hope you're not mad?

Psally: Of course not. We can meet at Corries Dinner just before school shows that?

Amy: Alright! Come down early and I'll buy us breakfast for bailing out on you.

Psally: Sounds like a plan, see you then, and have fun with Swiftshot.

Amy: Thanks Sal, and see you tomorrow."

With that Amy puts her phone away and looks to the boys.

All set. I told her you were taking me out after school on a surprise date. She was fine with it. We agreed to meet up at Corries tomorrow morning and I'll give her the papers then.

Good job Ames. For now let's go, the next bell is about to ring.

What should I do with the files Birch?

Birch thinks for a moment and comes up with something.

Take them to Mrs. Higgins, let her know you need them hidden till after school and you will come for them then.

What if she asks what's going on?

Tell her that it's a lead on something for Eris. I know we said that we wanted as little people being involved in this but we all know we can trust her. Now come on or we'll be late for class.

With that they head off and head for class. The next few hours where long. But once the bell rang everyone was glad it was over with. Amy, Swiftshot and Birch meet up at the entrance of the school and they head on over to Birch's car when they are stopped by Sally.

Hey Amy hold on.

Oh Sally hey. I thought you left for the rest of the day, so Sonic said.

Yeah well I managed to finish what I needed and got back in time for the rest of the day. Anyway I thought you were leaving with Swiftshot on your surprise date?

We are. Birch said he was gonna drop us off near there. I guess he knew about it and I didn't ha ha.

I see, and how will you get home?

I'll call KillBeat to come get us after of course. I mean I wouldn't let Ames find her own way home alone, what kind of guy would you take me for?

Sally narrows her eyes at them and is about to say something when she sees someone not too far off. They nod at her and she looks at Amy and the others.

Well, alright then. I'll see you tomorrow for breakfast as planned?

With that Sally leaves and goes to meet up with the one she spotted as Birch, Amy and Swiftshot get into Birch car and head on out to 122 North Ave and Gateway River. From the school to their destination it takes them 45 minutes to get there leaving them two hours till they had to meet with Tony. Birch parks along the edge of the rad and they get out.

Now what? We have two hours till we have to meet up with Tony.

Amy asks Swiftshot and Birch.

She right you know?

Yeah I know. I have my reasons for meeting up early. If I learned ANYTHING from being a Treasure hunter and Mercenary is you ALWAYS want to show up early and scout the place out should the informant pull anything.

This is Tony Birch, I know him well he wouldn't do such a thing.

Birch points with his nose so as not to give anything away. Swiftshot and Amy look to where he was pointed at and not too far off a couple of people could be seen. They looked out of place, yet at the same time didn't. There were four people hanging out together. A Wolf, A Calico Cat, an Owl and someone who looked similar to Tony only instead of Fox attributes she had Dragon attributes instead. She was snuggling up close to the Owl, who in turn wrapped an around her. The Owl nuzzles her as Amy and Swiftshot look over at Birch.

What about them Birch?

Amy asks.

Take a very close look at them…

Birch says as he starts walking off forcing them to follow them.

What is it you see about them that LOOKS familiar to you both.

Amy and Swiftshot look back at the group for a moment and as they do they see they have moved from where they were before. Amy tilts her head and sees them now hanging out near a music store and looks to Swiftshot who in turn thought that was weird. Amy looks back for a moment getting a good look at them when she sees it and points it to Swiftshot who now saw it himself.

They all have the same head band as Tony does, only in different styles as either a bandanna, or arm band or something else.

Right Amy. That can only mean what?

It was Swiftshot who answered next.

It means Tony is part of their group, meaning he is more than likely part of a Blader Crew.

Right again, and there is only ONE Crew I know of that has that kind of Mark.

Birch?

Amy looks at him then to Swiftshot.

WHAT?! That's OUTRAGEOUS! There is no way Tony would be of the group.

But he is, and I would bet my whole family Winder Estate that he isn't JUST part of the Crew, but the leader as well.

Amy and Swiftshot look at one another then back at Birch. As they walk on Birch walks into a Coffee Cafe and Amy and Swiftshot follow him in. Once in he heads on over to a booth as Amy and Swiftshot follow him and they sit down, moment they do a cute little cat jumps up onto the table and over to Birch who in turn smiles at pets it. It was then that Amy and Swiftshot noticed where they were.

They had walked into Chat Chat Cafe. As Amy and Swiftshot look around a girl that looked to be 20 years old walks over smiling at them. She was a pretty Himalayan Cat with pretty dark cream fur, that had dark brown markings on her tail, ears, hands, feet, her front, and her fluff around her neck and the tufts in her ears. Her hair was a light brown with wine color edges. Her eyes were a couple different wine colors that were stunning. She was in a pair of denim Capris that had paw prints on the back pockets, and her crop top was black with a pink cat head on it. The apron she had tied around her waist was dark blue with the Chat Chat logo on it. She smiles at seeing Birch who in turn smiles back as she leans down and gives him a small peck on the cheek.

Birch baby you need to stop coming when you feel like it and come see me more. I've missed you.

I know Mocha, I'm sorry honey. Just with Eris being gone and the Crew needing me as well as family matters I've been so tied up.

I guess I can let it go this time. But you owe me for it.

He holds up his hands and smiles at her.

With that Dove leaves to get Anita as Mocha looks over at the group.

I'm so sorry about that Swiftshot, they're always doing this, and it's because of Magic. He is always finding ways to open their pen and let him and his siblings out.

Sighing, he takes a Black kitten with a white star on his chest of 9 weeks off his head as Dove comes back with Anita. They gather the kittens up, but when it comes time for the black with the white star on his Chest he hisses at the girls and swipes his claws out at them making them step back and look at one another as he curls up in Swiftshots arms.

Ah Mocha?

Yeah I saw. That is SO unlike Magic. He's never hissed or swiped at anyone before.

Birch looks at Mocha as does Amy why Swiftshot looks down at Magic petting him to calm him down. Mocha folds her arms and watches how content Magic was with Swiftshot.

Well besides his escaping trick, he is a very mellow kitten. Very sweet and lovable, a real sweetheart really. But this is the first time I saw him act out when it was time to put him back. So it makes me wonder?

Everyone looks at Mocha as she looks down at him and Magic. They see she has a particular look on her face as she has her arms folded and rests her index finger and thumb on her chin. He answers her smiling at Magic as he purrs away in his arms and answers her.

OUTSIDE DOWN A BLOCK AND A HALF…

Birch why did you do that for?

Amy asks him as they walk down the way. A cold stiff wind picks up making Amy stop in her steps and hold her to go cup close. Swiftshot looks over at her and pulls her close as he looks to Birch. He himself stops walking and looks up at the darkening skies. Raze City was known for a lot of things. But around this time of year it was known for it's cold temperature drop as fall really started setting in. Once in a while Raze City would get a very early snowfall, but it wouldn't last but a couple of days, and as it happens Birch could smell snow on the air. It was going to be a very cold night and the next few days. It was something he always expected around this time of year. Amy and Swiftshot looked up with him as steam rose up from the sipping holes of their cups. As they look up, the first snowfall of the fall season starts. It would be the only one Raze City got till around winter time. Birch smiles and looks to the others.

Because even on a cold day like this, whether their friend or not, everyone needs a bit of warmth.

Both Amy and Swiftshot look at one another then back to Birch, who had gone back to walking down their way. They look at one another and smile knowing this was true. They hurry to catch up with him as they wander the streets for a bit till after about 30 minutes Birch stops down an alleyway and leans against a wall.

He gets up close and into her face narrowing his eyes at her as he grins showing his canines as his tails swishes in an annoyed way.

Zena steps back and lowers her ears gulping, seeing the look in his eyes. She already knew she would get shit as is for this.

With that everyone walks off as Amy looks over to Zena who in turn lets out a deep sigh. Amy walks next to her in the back of the group and places a hand on her shoulder.

She looks at Amy and smiles at her.

What was that all about?

She looks at her and sighs as she looks over at Tony who was talking with Swiftshot.

It used to be that Tony was the second to the Techno Howlers. Then one day something happened to change that all.

What happened?

Zena looks up at the snow covered sky and sighs…

It all started three years ago just before his mother became sick. He and his older brother Mason were very tight, so close you could hardly pull them apart without the other whining about it or complaining about it really. His older brother at the time was the Leader of The Techno Howlers back then, but sadly as when their mother became sick, it was on Mason to take over not only taking care of Tony, but their mom too.

What was wrong with her?

No one knows really, not even the doctors could find anything wrong with her. At first when she was diagnosed with it, it was barely noticeable but as time it became apparent something something was wrong.

They did all kinds of tests on her, and they found nothing that would come remotely close to anything they had seen before. A lot of the time the tests would show similarities to things we knew about, and they tried to use medicine but it was like it would work at first then out of the blue it wouldn't no more. It was like it was changing, evolving every day. As the days went on Masons began to change. It was subtle at first but as the days went on some of us started to see how it was also starting to change Tony as well.

What do you mean?

She looks at Amy smiling.

You see the cut over my left eye, and how it looks like my left eye is clouded over?

Well Mason done it to me, and made me blind in that eye

What?! Why would he do something so horrid to you?

At the time he didn't mean to. He was under a lot of pressure back then and I just happen to be at the wrong side of things. He was pulling triple shifts at work, trying his best to make ends meet, on top of that, he had to make sure Tony was up and ready for school, and he always had to make sure that someone was with their mother every day, and to really top it off, he had to run The Techno Howlers as well, and deal with the Crews problem. When we got word of what was going on we all wanted to help out in any way we could. Their mother was a big part of the Crew even though she wasn't really a member. To us though she was like a Crew Mother. Always looking out for us no matter what. If we need something, anything at all she would find a way to help us out.

So when we wanted to help out as well, Mason wasn't too thrilled about it. When we all agreed we wanted to help I was the one who went to him to try and talk about how we could help. We all wanted to pitch in and help with the medical bills and more….

So it's decided then? We will help out Ms. Foxworth and Mason and Tony in any way, shape or form we can?

You know it Z, Ms. Foxworth is our Crew mother. She is part of this crew even though she is not an official part of it. We need to help… no we HAVE to help them. They did so much for us.

I remember how the whole gang cheered me on about it and how into it they all were.

That was when he hurt you huh?

Yes it was. I went to their home one night to talk with him about what we had decided on. I was in Mason's room with him hanging out when I brought it up. When I told him how we all wanted to help he refused. I tried to talk him into doing it, to let us help, but he wouldn't listen to me at all. We got into a huge argument, it was then Tony ran in hearing us. It was also at the same time that Mason backhanded me hard across the face with his claws out and caused the scar over my left eye making me permanently blind now in that eye.

I went flying right into Tony and we landed in a heap on the floor. As I laid on the floor holding the left side of my face blood dripped down my face. Tony sees this and looks to his brother and could tell something happened to piss him off to the point he would hit me. He gets mad himself and yells at me to get out. I was still stunned at what happened and was still trying to figure out what happened, why he would do something like that to me when he never had before. Me and Mason were so close since childhood. We were best friends, trouble makers, the King and Queen of hell and best of all, we were so happy together.

She looks at Amy as a tear rolls down her left side of her face.

You mean that…

Y-Yeah… we we're. At the time we were even engaged as well to be married.

Oh Zena I'm so sorry?

Anyway what happened next was even more heartbreaking. As I laid there in shock Tony started yelling at me himself..

GET OUT ZENA! GET OUT OF HERE NOW AND DON'T SHOW YOURSELF HERE AGAIN! JUST GO NOW!

It was then I snapped out of it and I ran out of their home not looking back. I turned on my AirBlades and headed to the nearest hospital to have my eye looked at. They fixed me up and the next day I had to head to my eye doctor and that was when he told me I would be blind in my left eye for the rest of my life. That even surgery wouldn't help.

The next day I showed up at the HQ, everyone saw what happened and started asking questions. I told them all to calm down. I was fine. I just had a run in with another Crew was all and I got the bad end of the deal. As I was telling them what happened Mason and Tony walked in. They overheard me and asked to talk with me alone. Everyone saw the tension between us but didn't dare ask…

Why didn't you tell them what really happened Zena?

Because Mason I couldn't do it. You're going through a hard time right now. We all understand this. All we wanted to do was help you out. You only acted out of anger and hurt. Both of you did. I know deep down you didn't mean it Mason.

But we don't need nor WANT yours or the Crews help Zena. This isn't your problem to share in. It's ours. She's OUR mother not yours.

What happened next?

Well they were speechless to say the least, that even after what he did a few days ago that I wanted to stay with them till the very end. Tony all but threw himself at me crying. He was only 14 then. But he grew up during the time his mother was sick.

And Mason?

He couldn't believe what he was hearing right then. After a few moments Tony calms down, and Masons asks to speak with me alone then. So Tony left his personal room and Masons locked it after he left.

Amy looks at her as her eyes widen as she comes to the realization of what happened behind closed doors.

Yeah we did. Best sex EVER. Though it wasn't till AFTER we talked things out and I got him to understand everything. But sadly things didn't go as planned.

What happened?

Why Mason was Off dealing with his mother he left Tony in charge of things in the Crew. Other crews, our enemies, got wind somehow of what was going on, and they attacked us. Tony did his best to defend us, as well as the team he picked out to help, but he ended up badly hurt thus putting more strain on everything else going on. When Mason found out, that was the last straw for it all. It broke him mentally. He couldn't cope with their mother sick and now Tony in the Er as well. It was too much for him. That was when I had to step in and take over because no one else could, or even would. Because they were too scared to do it.

I did my best and when Tony finally came home it was like he and his brother were different from what I knew. Things between me and them went from good to bad in a matter of days. It got so bad there was no way to fix it.

But you stayed anyway didn't you?

I did yes. I had to. I made a promise. We all did. The ones who stayed helped out as best as we could. But it did no good at all. Soon it was just me, Lora, Malcolm, Liza, Tony and Mason and maybe about 30 left of the Techno Howlers.

Why did everyone else leave?

Because of Mason. They couldn't stand seeing him like he was. It broke them seeing HIM so broken. The ones that stayed did everything they could to keep everything together but sadly Fate has a way of dealing the final blow.

You don't mean?

I do sadly, yes. Everything ended for us. Not just for me and Mason, but what was left of the crew as well. The 30 that stayed behind left leaving only us four.

What about you and Mason?

Sadly it was one of the many final blows that Fate dealt us. We never got married like we wanted to nor in time till Ms. Foxworth passed. We only JUST now started putting a new Crew together. But things have changed non the less forever. Mason isn't the kind caring man I used to know. Tony has his darker side now when he never did. He now runs The Techno Howlers as it's new Leader.

He's still around as it's Senior member. Someone who Tony can go to for help. We live up to our name in a whole new way.
