Chapter 11

"Where are we going?" I asked once more.

"You'll see," he answered.

"Do you even know where you're going?" I asked.

"Nope," he responded. "I have a faint idea though. I think."

"You think? You do know we need to be back by dawn, right?" I said.

"Yeah, and we need to get here sometime tonight. I think we're here though," he said.

We were by an entrance to a cave. There were some stale scents of cats from every Clan and judging by the smell they were medicine cats.

"You're brilliant idea is to barge into Moon Stone," I said. "Since neither of us are medicine cats will we be able to see StarClan?"

"We'll see," he said. "Come on."

We plunged into the darkness. We trekked downward, keeping on the main tunnel. In wasn't long until we entered a large cavern with a huge stone in the middle.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"Good question," he said.

Just then the stone began to glow, sparkling in the moonlight. I stood there in awe of its beauty. I then started walking forward, my body moving on its own. I saw Tallblaze walking beside of me. We touched our noses to the stone and everything went dark.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a bright forest. It looked like greenleaf, which is odd considering it's leaf-bare. Tallblaze was still beside me. We looked at each other and I realized where we were. StarClan. It had worked.

I looked around, taking it all in. My eyes then settled on the other cat near us. Her ginger and white pelt sparkled with stars. Our eyes met and I started crying. I ran toward her. I stopped in front of her.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered.

"It's not your fault," Limppaw told me. "I was meant to die then. StarClan foretold it."

"I should've died, not you," I told her.

"You have a large role to play in the future of the Clans. My death was supposed to happen. You couldn't prevent it," she said.

"I let you die just like I let Duskpelt die," I said.

"None of it was your fault. Flurrytail and Lightstar were at fault," she said. "And if anyone should be sorry it's me."

"What do you have to be sorry for?" I asked.

"You have many trials and tribulations ahead, and there is nothing I can do to stop it," she told me. "Nothing I can do to help. Things aren't going to get easier from here, that's for sure."

"Can you at least help with Lightstar?" Tallblaze asked.

She shook her head, her expression solemn. "The Dark Forest is its own place, we can't stop what goes on there. Or possibly there is, but the higher up of StarClan refuses to say. I'm truly sorry, Deathfire."

"Why can't they?" Tallblaze asked.

"The forces of StarClan believe we should not tamper with the Clans and the living, rather let things play out with only prophecies to assist," she explained.

"That's terrible! This is a serious problem that Shorty is unable to get out of! And the fox-hearts are willing just to watch her suffer? That's not okay! I thought StarClan was the good cats!" Tallblaze yowled.

"It's not right, I agree. There's nothing to be done about it," she said. "Deathfire, your path will not be an easy one, and I'm not sure how you'll handle. Just remember you're friends are there for you, and you're stronger than you think. Don't lose hope in even the most dire times. You'll make a big impact on the Clans, you're more important than you can ever dream."

"They chose the wrong cat. I'm never going to be important, I'm not good enough," I told her. "You must be mistaken."

"The stars never lie," Limppaw said. "They keep many secrets, but never lie. As for Tallblaze, he has an interesting path himself."

"Now you're just messing with us. I mean, I know I'm fabulous but that's about it," he said. "I'm just a normal warrior."

"At the moment. Your path is about to reach a Y. A time you must choose which way you want to go. Things are changing. I wish I could be of more help," she said. "It's not my purpose, not my destiny."

"I'm a personal believer that we decide what happens to our lives," Tallblaze said.

"If only that were true," she said, looking down. She then looked up. "Though I must say, I'm happy you found another littermate to make up for my absence."

I looked at Tallblaze. "I needed a replacement sister anyway," he said.

"Take care of her for me," Limppaw said.

"I promise, I will," Tallblaze said.

"We'll meet again, sooner than you think. We'll meet many times before death, actually," she said. "Until next time."

"Bye," I said, tears starting to blur my vision.

"See ya," Tallblaze said.

I woke up. I got up and saw Tallblaze standing up as well.

"Did you?" I asked.

"Yeah," he answered.

I felt myself begin to cry again. "I miss her so much."

He put his tail around me. "It's okay. Come on, we need to be getting back before dawn," he said. "Hopefully no one will be awake to question."

I nodded and we left the cave. When we emerged the moon was low in the sky.

"We better hurry," I said.

"Then try to keep up, Shorty!" Tallblaze told me and took off.

"No fair!" I protested, following.

Unfortunately Limppaw and StarClan hadn't been able to help. At least I knew Tallblaze was by my side through all of this. Things might be getting tough, that was for sure, but somehow I'd find a way through. I have to. There's more important things to worry about now.

"Maybe you could keep up if you didn't have such short legs!" Tallblaze laughed.

Beating Tallblaze in this race.

Author Note: Well, this may have been a shorter chapter, but hey. It gets everything done that needs done. In good news, we got to see Limppaw again! And we were once again reminded that StarClan sucks(or at least in my ever so humble opinion). Also I know I've probably said this a lot, but I love Tallblaze. He's great. Amazing. Humorous. Idiotic. I was actually reading through the entire fourth book(this one) recently and literally thought, "Tallblaze is everything I aspire to be in life." So like, goals. Anyway, please leave a review. See ya next week. Yeet!
