I Liiiiiiiiive
One review that I thought I should answer.
- Your right, Annabeth, can come off as know it all, and I have a plan as to why, but as of now she is her normal book self. (the later books)
I looked over all the latest reviews and I must thank you for them, they keep me motivated and I always have them in the back of my mind when I'm writing, they help me remind me to add details. (among other things)
All Rick Riordan's characters belong to him.
On with the story
The quest had been scaling Mt Tamalpais for at least twenty minutes and Percy was starting to get annoyed at the damn falling rocks, he was also worried he could sense two great energies and two great monsters on the mountain, he was afraid that someone would die.
He was the oldest among the group, and he felt responsible for all of them, he didn't want to face Zeus or artemis after their child or hunter died, and the worst was facing Grover's mother, she was probably a nature spirit and surprisingly that scared Percy the most.
Not long after these thoughts Percy made it to the edge of the garden where everyone was waiting for him.
"What took you so long?"
"I'm smaller than all of you, and I released the dinosaurs into the trees" Percy stated simply
"right"
Percy scowled "artemis is waiting, and I'd rather not be castrated."
"Ahem" Percy turned around, and was faced with four woman all looking similar to Zoe "what are you doing in our garden?"
"Oh you know." Percy waved his hand in a dismissive manner, "we're going to kill your father, save Artemis, and I'm probably going to pick all of those apples."
"You'll have to get past ladon."
"Yeah, I'm not really concerned about him."
"Why" again Percy waved his hand dismissively but Zoe spoke before him "Perseus shut up, can we please get through?"
"You can try but we'll set ladon on you along with every other monster on this mountain."
"Sisters please the fate of the world rests on this decision."
"Sister? I see no sister, only a traitorous girl, and why would we care? Atlas would not let us be hurt, the titans rule would not affect us." Bianca, Thalia, and Grover were slightly shocked while Percy gasped and clapped his hands.
"A family reunion? How sweet, do you want to meet mine?"
"No"
Percy stayed silent this time and watched as Zoe spoke "sisters, what must I do to prove myself?"
The Hesperides whispered among each other, as if they had been expecting this question. "To prove yourself to us you must give up something you love while also forgiving the man that led you along that path."
The Hesperides hinted at what Zoe must give up and Percy quickly put it together. "Zoe?" his voice made it seem like a question "Zoe, you don't have to do this, I can do it, I've got plenty of things to sacrifice."
"This is my burden, not yours."
"No!" Percy snapped his voice rising "I will not let you do that, I've barely been helpful on this quest." Percy's voice dropped down to a whisper "please zoe, I've been alive for millennia, it was always about me surviving, me being the prophecy child, me, me, me, that's all it's ever been."
Percy looked at the ground "please Zoe I… I just want to give something, you've suffered your whole life, and have given everything to be with the hunters, I can't let you give up your life while I stand here with everything to give."
Zoe sighed loudly "Perseus you cannot, this was my home, atlas is my father and these four my sisters, I have to pay my debt for betraying them."
"But you don't!" Percy snapped again.
Sensing an argument Bianca, Thalia and Grover took a step to the side. "Zoe, I should've died the day I was sent back, but I didn't, Zoe this feels right, I think this was the reason I survived."
Percy chuckled but the chuckle was empty and hollow "I survived 200 million years just to sacrifice my life so you can pass through the gates of your home"
A small ball of mist danced between Percy's hands until it suddenly burst and flew into the forest affecting the minds of the dinosaurs hidden away.
The Hesperides stared with mock amusement, though they were interested in the offer.
"A life will work, it will give father an edge... very well." one of the Hesperides snapped her fingers, and before anyone could get a word out an axe slammed into the back of Percy's skull sending him flying up the mountain where his corpse hit Hera's tree and fell to the ground.
Even with gags on Annabeth and Artemis' shrieks of surprise could be heard by the questers, and two titans stared at the body one in anger and grief the other in glee and triumph.
It wasn't long until a chorus of roars and hisses sprang up from the trees accompanied by the odd honk or shriek, in a way it was calming, but it was the kind of calming you feel right before you die.
These calls however weren't ones of glee or a successful hunt, no, they were the sounds of a crazed animal who was on a destruction path for revenge, their echoey calls promised pain and torture before the sweet escape of death.
The questers took this as their que to run, especially since they knew what was coming, and that only drove them on harder.
Scar was the first out of the trees, his eyes wide with a crazed flame that danced around, his lips were pulled back in a snarl and his claws were twitching.
(I don't actually know if dinosaurs had lips, but we're going to go ahead and assumed they did)
Scar's eyes were filled with rage and sadness, but also, acceptance? No one could tell for sure.
No one moved, even titans like atlas knew their strength and dinosaurs that have millennia to practice their skills would destroy someone of their mere skill.
No one knew if he was an idiot or if he felt threatened but ladon hissed, and as many expected that was a mistake the dinosaurs descended on the dragon like a pack of wolves, with the ferocity of one as well.
Teeth, claws and tails slammed into and cut the dragon, heads were flying making a few people look green, ladon's hundred heads were reduced to none in a few minutes, poison spilled and sizzled on the ground but none of the dinosaurs seemed to be harmed they just stared, directly at the top of the mountain where everyone else was standing.
And then in a methodical way the three raptors sniffed the air, as the others all watched, the sniffed carefully, putting their heads high into the air, and then they turned, their claws splayed, and their jaws open, clacking sounds echoing as their sickle claws tapped on the rock beneath them.
As they grew agitated so did the others and they all started twitching, some wanting to run while others just wanting to charge and deal with the threat they sensed.
The raptors' disappointment showed on their faces as they brought their arms back and held them near their body's as they also started walking into the trees where they thought they had smelled something.
Scar suddenly started to look slightly pale and he tried to move out of the way as multiple spikes drove into his side, each nearly piercing vital organs, there were at least five and these spikes quickly released their poison causing him to pale even more and have trouble standing.
"Dammit scar, get down" that common hiss was heard by all on the mountain
"I know I know, you want to help but allo has threatened to break off my spikes so for my well being please move."
Scar collapsed the poison having finally brought him down, but before he fell unconscious he managed to have a rushed and quick conversation with Kyle.
"..." "what? Well shit, fine, if I get killed though then you are getting chucked in the Styx ."
Scar fell unconscious and maybe it was for the best as Kyle had previously dragged his body to the golden tree.
"You piece of shit you've got me all worked up." Kyle sighed while simultaneously wiping a tear from his cheek "whatever you wanted this."
Kyle grabbed the axe that had killed Percy and quickly yet efficiently decapitated his friend, no his brother, and unfortunately for Kyle the fighting had just ended and everyone was staring at him.
Kyle looked at the axe and then at his family before repeating this action, he quickly threw the axe over his shoulder "I didn't do it I swear he wanted it"
"Get the traitor!" echoed throughout the mountain followed by a very panicked "Shit.''
Kyle took off and ran across the clearing and into the trees.
The questers stared down the hill with wide eyes "What the hades just happened?"
"Good question." zoe muttered "I have no idea, but I truly think that no fighting is needed, maybe atlas will see his position and for once use his brain and not his brawn."
Said titan heard every word and growled "one of you has died, I will have trouble killing the rest of you."
Someone, the other titan, put his hand on Atlas' shoulder. "Quiet son, let me deal with this, even we titans cannot fight against ancient killing machines."
"We are titans the strongest around, we cannot be killed nor can we be defeated."
The other titan's eyebrows rose "tell that to Hyperion's children, and we were all defeated during the first war, we could easily be defeated again."
"You're a coward, you always were, and always will be, it's always negotiate and no fighting, I can't believe you're the titan of death and morality."
"Morality is the difference between right and wrong, and right now the right thing to do is negotiate, your daughters backstabbed them by killing."
"But he wanted to give his life."
"Yeah." the titan muttered, "he wanted to give his life fighting not having an axe split his head open from behind, even though he did agree to die"
"I don't care." Atlas roared, spittle flying everywhere. "I will not negotiate with the enemy and if you do then you're a traitor."
Atlas spit at the titans feet and that was the last straw, a hole appeared in Atlas' head, the titan moved so fast he was standing still one second and the next he was wiping golden blood off his spear.
"And yet they still challenge me, year after year, and every time I kill them, it's like moths to a flame, except the flame puts a hole through their head." the titan muttered. "Oh and Luke, I recommend you run else my spear decides to make its home in your brain matter." said person had already disappeared ready to report what Iapetus had done
His spear quickly disappeared and he strode passed the quest not even glancing behind him, he quickly and efficiently cut the gags that kept Artemis and Annabeth quiet.
"Now do you believe me goddess? Or do you wish to question me and end up like my son?"
Artemis muttered something under her breath, "what was that, I hope you speak up, I'm not afraid of you Olympians, you shouldn't be afraid of little old me"
"You titans are the scum that must be scrubbed off of my feet, you are below us Olympians, why would you kill your own son Iapetus?"
Iapetus made a sound that was between a snort and a laugh. "I got tired of being called weak and worthless, I was the first titan to fall in the first war, that painted me as a weakling even though I was easily overpowering Poseidon, Hestia, and Demeter, I only fell because hades used his helm and stabbed me through the back like the coward he is."
"I heard that tale definitely." Artemis muttered "I heard you stabbed Hestia through the back and struggled to fight Demeter alone, and then you fell when Poseidon showed up."
Iapetus lips twitched but instead the tension being cut it increased, the air felt cooler against the demigod's skin and the shadows seemed longer.
"You Olympians." Iapetus shook his head "you all paint yourselves as powerful and the true heroes, do you really think kronos swallowed them from paranoia? Of course not." Iapetus laughed "he instead saw that one of them would be power hungry, and have an ego that will be unmatched, among other things."
"He didn't know which one though, so he swallowed them all, just to be safe, a shame rhea tricked him and caused a war that will last until mother fades." Iapetus relished in the surprised and disgusted faces of the demigods.
"kronos would eventually find a way to get his children out, but only after he found out which one had the bad qualities, kronos isn't fighting to become a tyrant, in my eyes he's fighting to take down a tyrant, however, I cannot help, my family kicked me and a few others out."
"But... family will always find their way home, and by casting us into Tartarus and leaving rhea unpunished you have caused an awakening bigger than the giant war."
"And guess who's at the center of it?" Iapetus pointed towards the bloody tree. "Perseus is your only hope, a shame hades is forbidden from bringing him back, if only there was another underworld ruler that had the power to do it." Iapetus sighed happily
"What do you want, titan?"
"Hmm," Iapetus thought quickly a drunken smile on his face "my wife left me, maybe I could ask for another, you maiden goddesses were always beautiful, or maybe I could get revenge on my coward killers, or maybe I could even gain the rank of Olympian, anyone who tried to stop me would get a hole through the head anyway."
Iapetus hummed "what's it going to be artemis? Wife, revenge, or Olympian?"
"I do not have the power or the rank to grant you any of those wishes."
"Aww, well that's too bad, I guess I'll keep the soul of Perseus all to myself." Iapetus turned and walked away down the mountain, not cutting the chains that bound artemis nor waiting to see if the dinosaurs followed him.
After a minute of metal clanging together artemis made her decision. and in her desperation she forgot to sound confident "w-we could work out terms, though you'd have to do that with the counsel." artemis scowled "on Olympus."
"Yes, we could, but you're not getting out of those chains that easily, you're my hostage, just so they know I'm serious."
"You cannot do this to me! I am a goddess, daughter of Zeus, an Olympian, the strongest beings out there."
Iapetus' eyebrows rose "would you like to repeat that in my good ear? I happen to be a titan you know." artemis didn't answer and Iapetus snorted in disgust "are you truly so afraid that you won't speak? Afraid that I'll take your maidenhood?"
"Of course!" Artemis exploded "you're a titan you'll do anything to get what you'll want."
"Ah, good she listens, now put a sock in it, before I decide to do away with you and speak to the Olympians about your poor fate in Tartarus, constantly being killed by titans for their amusement."

One trip to Olympus later

"Wow." Iapetus muttered his eyes gazing across the gold and marble mountain that stretched out in front of him.
"It's beautiful isn't it?"
"Nope, you Olympians just copied orthys, except you made it out of gold and white marble."
"You titan's are just ungrateful brats who don't know beauty when they see it." Artemis muttered but Iapetus was unaffected, he just chuckled "we may agree on one thing, we were always more focused on fighting then beauty or anything like the sort."
"Now, come along." Iapetus pulled on the chains and artemis had no choice but to follow, they had left the demigods and dinosaurs to find their own way, so the two immortals were alone on the deserted streets of Olympus.
"You won't get what you want titan, you'll be killed for keeping me in chains."
Iapetus smirked his eyes sparkling with amusement "Will I really, I have many options, I could threaten to kill you, I could fight the Olympians in which case I'd kill half before I died, I could call on Perseus' soul and summon his dinosaurs to fight, or I could summon a monster, I could even summon my brethren here right now and reinstate kronos as king, I would shut up now if I were you."
"You're a monster."
"Monsters are the things we fear, the things we look for under our bed."
"I'm not a child titan."
Iapetus scoffed "I know, but you sure are acting like one, listen goddess." Iapetus got right up in Artemis' face. "I know how you gods feel about my kind, but are we really so different, your a full titan, you father is, and your mother most certainly was, you hunt monsters while I protect them, why is that wrong? Is it because they hunt your family's children? Huh is that it?"
Iapetus growled "it's the Olympians fault anyways, I read the original copy of the ancient laws, and if you interfered you wouldn't be punished, your all a bunch of lazy gods with shit for brains, you all sit on Olympus and fuck mortals and gods alike."
"We titans know more than you think, almost everything you've been told is wrong, and it's all Zeus doing, I know you think it would be hades doing or even Poseidon, but not your perfect father, no it couldn't possibly be my amazing dad who constantly breaks his oaths on the Styx."
Iapetus fought back a sob "do you know what Zeus and you Olympians have done? Helios, Selene, and eos have faded long ago, causing Hyperion to go into a depression-like state, he wants death, but he doesn't want to leave his wife alone so he lives and he fights."
Iapetus calmed and he sighed "I-it's in the past, but I'm upset and angry, you Olympians have caused the titans more pain and suffering then we ever caused you, it wasn't enough to toss us into eternal torment, no, you all decided you might as well fade our family."
"Wh-why do you wish to help us then?"
Iapetus didn't answer at first, his eyes scanned artemis, looking for anything unusual. "Believe it or not, none of us hate you, despite the eternal torture, we just want freedom, but since Zeus will never allow that we must fight for our freedom."
Iapetus noticed the confused look Artemis gave him and he elaborated "I know that doesn't answer your question, there are a few of us who just want one or two things, but we don't want to fight. Me? I want revenge, on both the cowards who killed me and later my family who kicked me out for being considered weak."
"a wife or a new title are bonuses, though I would like them I do not need them, nor will I force someone to marry me, only if they agree, it's another reason why I'm considered weak I actually let other people decide what to do, it's why atlas wasn't killed the moment he captured you."
"Now please open the doors, I don't want to get blasted as soon as I step in."
"My hands are tied you idiot."
"Nice try" Iapetus deadpanned "You're a god you can open the doors without hands."
Artemis scowled, her quickly made plan hadn't fooled Iapetus. "Why can't you be like your son Iapetus? Why can't you be an idiot."
"Because I'm no ordinary titan brute, now get it open, I'm sure they already know we're here."
Just like that the doors opened, half of the Olympians were glaring at Iapetus while the other half were either confused, or amused, though they were trying to hide their amusement, the weird thing though? Zues and hera were nowhere to be seen
"Of course we knew you were here uncle, now please unhand artemis and leave." hades had a small smirk on his face
"Kay see ya." Iapetus walked back out onto the streets flipping the Olympians off with both hands.
"Brother, you're an idiot." Poseidon shook his head and pinched his nose "we need Iapetus if we want to beat the other titans, he's the only one who can bring Perseus back without breaking the ancient laws, and in case you didn't notice swords bounce and slide off those chains, only one living titan is willing to help us and you just let him leave."
"What about Mnemosyne and Thetis? They are loyal to us, and even live here on Olympus."
"Brother." Poseidon deadpanned "after three millennia they are sure to have changed their forging techniques and materials."
"I'm just trying to help." hades muttered.
"Could someone please go stop Iapetus? He's about to use the elevator." Artemis sighed looking down the main street on Olympus.
In a panic hades said something that caused the entirety of Olympus to go quite. "Iapetus I challenge you to a duel, I win we get what we want, and vice versa for you.
Iapetus stopped and stood still for a few minutes, before he turned around and walked back towards the council, an evil grin on his face.
He got right up in Hades' face "no bullshit? You'll try to fight me? On your own? You've gotta be insane to even think about that."
Hades' face was pale "I was hoping I could get some help."
Iapetus laughed and cracked his knuckles "you know? I've been waiting for a rematch since the titan war, what do you say?"
Three new faces went as pale as hades "I-I'm a peaceful goddess, I don't fight anymore."
"Bullshit and you know it, you're the one who finally killed me, you know, the whole decapitation thing, speaking of which I want my head back, I take personal offense to being hung on your wall."
"I didn't know you were still alive."
"Lies. you're the one who enchanted the damn thing, and you're the one who regularly asks it for advice, sometimes I grant it, depending on my mood."
"So are we going or not? I'll have you know that Perseus will be resurrected either way."
Seeing no other way, Poseidon jumped off his throne "Good enough for me, anyone going to help?"
"Wait." Hades muttered "Who's the judge? And what are the terms?"
"Uhm. judges are Athena, Ares, and I dunno, Hermes, I want, revenge on you, which I'm getting, and I want revenge on the titans, my wife left me so one of those would be accepted, and I want an alliance, preferably through a marriage, but it could be something else."
Since Zeus wasn't there Hades glanced at the council, who all seemed okay with the terms, "honestly, we were hoping for an alliance too, we know that you're a threat, and we want Perseus returned to life, but aside from that, we got nothing."
"Well, we all know who's going to win in the end, so we might as well get it going."
Hestia finally accepted her situation and got up, for the first time in millennia, she pulled out a weapon, a flaming sword.
The same was with Demeter, she accepted what would happen, and she pulled out her rarely used weapon, a sickle.
We'll spare the gore and details, but the four Olympians fell easily, it tends to happen when your limbs get ripped off.
"Well." Iapetus sighed "you've grown weak, what have you been doing for the past three millennia? Sitting around on your ass?"
"That pretty much sums up our entire existence." hades groaned
"You know the deal, alliance, marriage all that stuff, and you forgot to swear on the Styx so I also don't want to be called a titan anymore, immortal or god will do just fine."
"Fuck, fine we'll do it, it's not like we have any choice."
"Good, good here's Perseus as promised."
Said person appeared, looking very disoriented and confused "okay who the fuck brought me back? I was having a nice chat with Thanatos, fine young chap, can't find a lover and you all hate him, kinda sounds like me honestly."
"I don't hate my fellow deat-"
"Shut up, Hades, you're at spear point, I wouldn't be talking."
"So." Percy continued, "what were the terms of the fight and why are they still bleeding on the floor?"
"Um, right.'' Apollo got up from his throne and disappeared with the four siblings, and Iapetus finally started to free artemis.
"Well now that they're gone, who's getting married to the dolt?"
"Perseus." Iapetus paused in his work "please refrain from calling me a dolt."
"Of course, now chop, chop people, I was just resurrected and I need to make sure the children are okay."
"Yeah." Athena muttered "but we don't exactly have someone on hand who is ready to marry a titan of all things."
Artemis' chains clanged when they hit the ground and said goddess had an evil smile on her face. "I know someone who is immortal and who wouldn't mind having a titan as a husband."
Artemis glanced in Percy's direction and he paled "no, no I'm not doing that, I'm-"
Percy stopped and tilted his head as if listening. "no," he stomped his foot into the floor that created a small tremor. "no one tells anyone about this moment, got that? I will not do that"
Percy looked at the glazed eyes of the room's inhabitants and glared at the sky
"Damn you eros!" he yelled to the sky

"Scar?" a female voice questioned "it's me Percy, allo is with me" the person in question stuck her head in a small tent.
"I already told you Percy, he's dead, Kyle killed him, and we killed Kyle so… I guess you could hurry up and say goodbye, to them both, it's getting hard to resist the smell of fresh meat."
"You're sick!"
For once allo spoke with a calm voice "in case you've forgotten I'm an allosaurus, I would eat my anything if it meant I would survive."
"I repeat my previous statement."
"What do you want me to say? I won't lie to you Percy, but if it makes you feel better I can clean the bones off and we can assemble them on Olympus, or you can keep his claws and teeth as reminders, you could use his one claw as a dagger." allo shrugged as if this whole situation wasn't bothering him
"I just... I never thought that any of you would die, at least not unless we all died together."
Allo was silent for a moment. "I don't think you realize this Percy, but he was your protector, he knew that you died, his purpose had run out, we may have been crazy with rage but we were all careful enough to not get hurt, but not him, he didn't care anymore, after so many years of following you around like a puppy all he wanted to do was be with you."
"I was in the underworld, and the easiest way to get to me was… oh gods, he killed himself?"
"More like being an idiot and then asking Kyle to kill him, which we only found out as Kyle gave his dying breath."
Percy ignored the last part wanting to grieve for scar first and grieve for Kyle later "But you dinosaurs don't have souls, you were around before the gods, how could he make it to the underworld?"
"A small detail chaos didn't tell you about, we got human bodies and human souls, now thanks to him we can all stay together until the end of time."
"It didn't work did it?"
"No" allo admitted sheepishly.
Percy sighed "what do you think he would want? To be a statue on Olympus or a statue wherever we go? then he can be with us forever"
"Sounds like a good idea, now excuse me, hey you three get over here." allo grabbed scar's corpse and dragged him off, the other three carnivores chasing after him, they disappeared and we all knew what would happen.
The four showed up later with a whole bunch of baryonyx bones, they said scar's bones changed as soon as they were cleaned of flesh, turning back into his fully grown dinosaur ones.
"Oh and Percy?"
"Shut up" she was miserable, staring at the ground, not doing anything just sitting there quietly, which would normally be impossible for any other demigod.
"Your, ah your father wanted to help you, he invited us to stay at his place for a while, he doesn't think it's a good idea for you to be at camp in this state, besides it gives your brother some time to get used to camp life."
The dinosaurs were expecting some emotion and they were thoroughly displeased, Percy didn't do anything and just muttered some things under her breath. "Tell him we'll come in a day."
Everyone aside from Percy glanced at each other before dispersing and talking quietly amongst themselves.

This story was updated about a month (or two) later than I said it would have been.
Why did Iapetus and Percy get married? Before I started writing I read a good story (in my opinion) where fem Percy and Iapetus were lovers but they were never married, the story hasn't been updated in a while so I figured I could try and write about what that writer stopped doing. (I also forgot what the stories name was though so I can't tell you to check it out)
I'm sorry that the fights are so short, but I have big plans for the next few chapters, dino on dino fights and of course there is the kronos/Luke vs Percy and his dinosaurs.
I'm pretty sure I already explained why the carnivores "ate" scar, and later Kyle but just in case, scar and Kyle died, simple as that, but a dinosaur whether it specializes in hunting or scavenging will never pass up free food, no one wants to get themselves hurt when hunting because that can mean their death.
I didn't write about the four Olympians vs Iapetus because… let's just say it may happen again, and if I write about it now then I can't write a good fight later during, say, the giant war? I mean the two fights would be almost exactly the same, so you'll get your Iapetus vs Olympians but you'll also have to wait for it.
Quick question to anyone who feels like answering, what did you think of this chapter? Unless I explained why in the notes then please tell me, I have multiple story ideas that can only be published after this one is finished, and I want them to be at their very best, so please any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
