"Now I want you to use Ember on me." Scarlet instructed. The Ninetales had woken me up at the crack of dawn to get me to train. Most of it was Scarlet trying to get my Fire attacks like Ember to be much, much stronger. Even though it was baby steps, first I have to "be able to shoot an Ember instantly" like Scarlet had said. So I fired an Ember a millisecond after she told me to do so, and it hit the small chunk of wood she had me use for target practice. On impact, the piece of wood got launched into the bushes.

The Ember came out almost instantly, but it made me kind of tired, and also hurt my throat a tiny bit. Was that normal? "That is good, you fired it quicker than I expected you would." Scarlet said. "It kind of hurt my throat when I did that, that's normal right?" the Ninetales sat down to think for a second.

Scarlet's POV=

I don't think my throat started hurting when my mother taught me to use Fire. Maybe it was the difference between Houndour and Vulpix that I didn't know about, which was likely that. If not, then Raon shouldn't be allowed to use Fire Type moves. There was a slight chance that he could end up burning up his insides if it hurt his throat. "I do not think it is, maybe you're too young to constantly shoot an Ember that quickly. If it keeps happening when you're older, then it might be a physical problem, and you could burn your insides to a crisp."

The Houndour's expression changed to that of fear. "Don't worry about it for now Raon. My mother taught me to use Fire Type moves as two years old. Perhaps by the time your body is two years old, you won't end up hurting yourself by doing that."

That didn't ease up Raon's mood. I nudged him. "How about this, for now I'll start teaching you all the Dark Type moves I can teach you, then when you're older, I can try to teach you Fire Types moves." the Houndour nodded. "Okay."

I wrapped my tails around the pup. "For now, let's just say, you have the ability to shoot Ember in an instant, but for right now you shouldn't."

Raon nodded again.

Raon's POV=

I honestly couldn't believe my ears, why wouldn't the insides of a Fire Type be fireproof too? Scarlet said I probably wouldn't get hurt by shooting an attack too fast when I'm older, but still. The fact that I could end up killing myself by shooting Ember a little too quickly scared me. What if I'm not able to attack in an instant when I'm older? Would I have to be more reliant on Scarlet?

By no means did I ever want to leave the Ninetales behind, but I need to be able to defend myself, if I can't, then I'm a dead body flailing about in a fight. I'm lucky as hell that Scarlet saved me from a pack of Mightyena, and even luckier she gave me a chance. If she hadn't, then I'd probably be laying on the inside of a log, whimpering in the pouring rain. Or dead, depends on what would've gotten me first: hunger or another Pokemon.

Scarlet had wrapped her tails around me, which never ceased to ease my food. I could feel my heartbeat return to its normal speed. "Now, do you wish to start traveling again?" At first I didn't answer, it felt really relaxing to just be like this. After a couple of seconds I finally answered. "Yeah, we shouldn't be staying in the same place for too long." Scarlet then unwrapped me, and stood up.

I took a second to admire just how beautiful the Ninetales was, by no means was I in love with her, she was like a mother to me, but still. Ninetales were beautiful Pokemon.

Scarlet nudged me. "Earth to Raon…" she licked my cheek. "Oh, sorry Scarlet, I zoned out for a second." the Ninetales giggled.

"I could tell."

Scarlet's POV=

I watched Raon's eyes look over me, from head to tail, at first I thought he was being weird, but then I remembered that he used to be human. Most of the humans I've come across had me stay with them simply because they thought I looked "stunning" as some would put it. Perhaps it was the same with Raon, except he was in the body of a Houndour.

After I brought him back into reality, he rubbed himself against my fore leg, just like how a young Vulpix would with its mother. If Raon didn't tell me, I would've never thought he used to be human with how he acts at times. I licked his forehead, and we started up on our way. "Hold it!"

We both turned to see a couple of Houndoom. "Raon, get behind me in case they're looking for a fight." the pup obeyed. "What are you two doing on our land?" asked the first Houndoom, it sounded like a male. "We were simply passing by, we weren't trying anything."

"Then what is a Houndour doing with a Ninetales?" asked the same Houndoom, by now I could tell he was the leader. His horns were raked sharply towards his neck, and seemed like he was the strongest out of the small group of Houndoom in front of us. Raon spoke up. "She saved my life from a pack of Mightyena. Ever since then, she's been kind enough to let me stay with her."

Raon then walked out from behind me. "Raon get back behind me, now." I said in a low hiss. "I see." said the Houndoom.

Raon's POV=

The Houndoom walked closer until he was only a few feet away from me and Scarlet. I got back behind the Ninetales just in case something happened. "And you seem to trust her a fair amount."

"But are you sure you can properly raise a Houndour?" His question was directed at Scarlet. "Yes I am, but I do have one question."

"Go on…"

"I was just teaching Raon how to shoot an Ember in an instant, and he said his throat got hurt by him doing such. I'd like to know a thing or two about a Houndour's anatomy before I keep him going on those practices." the Houndoom chuckled. "That's normal with Houndour around that age. The fire inside of them is usually too strong for them to handle, so once a Houndour learns how to use its fire, we wait about a year or two before teaching it anything."

The Houndoom then looked at me. "But hearing a Houndour so young being able to use Ember at all is interesting."

"Well, we won't attack you if you aren't planning to do anything to us. So feel free to stay in the area for as long as you wish… but just don't over hunt."

"That won't be an issue for us."

Scarlet's POV=

This is the first pack of Houndoom that actually acted somewhat civil, which I wasn't expecting. We bid them farewell, and then started on our way. I wasn't risking accidentally pissing off a pack of Houndoom.

And at least I managed to get a tiny bit of information as to why Raon's throat hurt a tiny bit after using Ember. If we didn't get that information, we for sure wouldn't have known. Well, guess I can still teach Raon moves such a bite. Even though moves like that are simple, not that strong, and pretty easy to learn. It'll be a good substitute for Fire Types moves.

Raon's POV=

After what the Houndoom had said about how I wasn't even supposed to learn Ember at my age made me think a tiny bit. While I have been a Houndour for however long it's been, I didn't know a single tjing about this body. Other than that it is very similar to a dog's, and how it's capable of shooting fire.

Maybe in the year to come, since I couldn't learn Fire Type moved without injuring myself, I should try and learn more about my body.

I then nudged Scarlet as we walked down the path, and walked a tiny bit closer to her.
