I am getting close to the end of this story! I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I believed their is one more chapter left! Happy Holidays to everyone and let's hope 2021 is much better than this year!

You're the best part of me

Kim was shaking. She was so nervous but excited the whole time.

"Hold still Burgess. This dress has like a thousand buttons. Could you not have bought one that just zips." Platt quipped.

"Sorry, I'm just nervous, excited, worried... all wrapped into one!"

"What are you worried for?" Asked Nicole.

"I just want everything to be perfect and I want Adam to be happy with the wedding."

"Honey, all Adam cares about is marrying you. He is happy believe me!" Vanessa added.

"Have any of you seen him?" Kim asked.

Kim insisted that they stay apart last night and not see each other until she walked down the aisle. Adam hated that and told her that he didn't want to spend a night apart. He tried to FaceTime her and every time she would send it to voice mail only.

"I want you to be excited to see me when I walk down the aisle!" Kim told him.

"Darling, I am always excited to see you! Come on, we don't have to listen to old wives tales about seeing each other before the wedding. You know I don't sleep well when you are gone." Adam kept on hounding Kim the day before. But she held firm!

"Nope! Don't pull that on me! I want to have that nervous excitement and anticipation of seeing you as I walk down the aisle."

"Well I may just pull you into a lavish kiss as soon as you get to me. If I do, it's your own fault. I want be able to help myself." Adam teased.

Kim had stayed the night with her sister and Zoe. They were both in the wedding as well as Hailey and Vanessa.

Hank was walking her down the aisle. Trudy and Mouch were sitting on the bride's side in place of Kim's parents. Sadly, they had passed away several years ago.

Kev was Adam's best man. Jay, Antonio, and one of Adam's friends from high school, Oscar, were his groomsmen.

Trudy answered, "I saw him. Special Sauce was doing great. Looks about as nervous and excited as you!"

There was a knock on the door. Hailey went to open it and saw Bob Ruzek standing there.

"Hey ladies... everyone looks lovely. Kim you are beautiful. You ladies mind if I have a word with my future daughter in law?"

They all smiled and nodded while exiting the room.

Bob smiled back at Kim. "Kim, I just want you to know how happy I am for you and Adam. I have longed for you to be a Ruzek since the day I found out you two were dating. I know this took a long time coming but I know you both are stronger and wiser because of it." Bob and Kim both had tears in their eyes.

Bob pulled out a beautiful handkerchief. "This was made by my great grandmother and my mother carried it down the aisle on her wedding day. I would be honored if you would carry it today. My parents had the best marriage. I was always sad that Adam's mom and I were not the best examples. You make Adam happy! I see it every time I am around him. I want you to know that from this day you are my daughter. Come to me if you ever need anything. Welcome to the family! I am so excited to have you as a Ruzek."

Kim took the cloth and held it to her chest. She leaned over and kissed Bob's cheek. "Thank you! You have no idea how happy this makes me. I hope to make you proud always!"

Bob stood up. "You already have! I look forward to many years of family gatherings and grand babies, lots of grand babies." He smiled back at her. "Gotta go check on my son. Make sure he is still worthy enough for you!" Bob winked then left.

Kim took the handkerchief and folded it around the bottom of her bouquet.

There was a knock and Nicole came in. "You about ready? We have about 15 minutes left. Hank wants to come see you."

"Yeah... of course"

Hank entered. He was honored to be giving Kim away. Besides Erin, Kim was the closest to a daughter. He thought the world of her and Adam. It took them awhile but they finally got their shit together and Hank was supportive of them.

"You look beautiful Kim".

"Thank you Sarge! I really love that you are going to walk me down the aisle. You are family."

"And nothing is more important than family." Hank added.

" I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you both. I just went to see Adam and told him if he messes up, he has me to answer to." Hank wagged his finger.

Kim chuckled. " I am sure the same goes for me."

"You ready... the church seems full. Lots of folks here to celebrate with you."

"Yes Sarge, I 'm ready. I've waited a long time to marry this man!"

Hank put his arm out and Kim took it. They walked to the vestibule. The music began. Platt and Mouch were escorted to their seat. Trudy had tears in her eyes. Next Vanessa walked down, followed by Hailey, Zoe, then Nicole.

The bells chimed and Hank smiled and took Kim's arm. "Ready or not, here we go!"

It was as if Adam was the only one in the room. When Kim laid eyes on Adam she didn't see anyone else.

Adam's eyes were cast down. When he looked up and saw Kim, he had tears in them. He wore the biggest smile. When Hank and Kim reached the end, Hank shook Adam's hand. He leaned over and kissed Kim's cheek. "Love one another no matter what." He told them.

Adam took Kim's hand. "You're incredible. I love you."

Kim smiled back and fought to keep her tears from flowing.

The ceremony began. The minister asked if they would take each other to marry. They both answered I do with conviction.

When it came time for vows, Kim went first.

"Adam, we have not always had a fairy tale romance but it's been ours. I have loved you since that first day we had traffic patrol together. You are my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the man that I love. You make me want to be a better person. You complete me. I promise to grow with you and vow to love you each and everyday no matter what life brings us."

Adam wiped the tears away. He cleared his voice before he began to speak.

"Kim, when I met you, I had no intention of falling for you. In my mind, you were out of my league. You are so smart, loving, caring, and brave. You care for everyone around you. You see the good in people and for that I am glad. Because you see the good in me. You make me want to be a better person and to make you proud. I promise to always support you and protect you, even though you get angry at how over protective I am. Lastly, I plan to love you! My heart literally beats because of you. I can't wait to continue this journey with you by my side. I love you."

Adam went to lean in for a kiss. The minister cleared his throat. "Not quite yet." He said.

The crowd chuckled. "Sorry." Adam smiled sheepishly.

"By the power invested in me and the state of Illinois. I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. You may now kiss your bride."

Adam threw his head back. "Finally" he laughed. He grabbed Kim by her cheeks and slowly kissed her. He pulled away reluctantly and said. "Nice to meet you Mrs. Ruzek, I love you so much!"

Kim smiled, "I love you too!"

They turned to the cheers and applause of their guest. Adam took Kim's hand and they walked back down the aisle.
