Broken heroes

A/N: hi guys, I wanted to do something a bit different for this chapter and focus more on Asuka and Shinji, I have never written romance or something similar In my life, so please tell me if you don't like the asushin parts.

Anyway, this is the last chapter before shit starts to go down (maybe after the next, but I'm not sure, I'll tell you when I post it) so, enjoy the happy moments, because as the title says, soon I'm going to start raining bricks on everyone. Bring an umbrella

Chapter 10: rain

Katsuragi apartment

"finally we're home! I'm going to have a shower Shinji, don't peek!"

"Of course not" "did she sound different this time? Nah, it's probably my imagination.

Anyway since it will be only me and pen en tonight, I'll start preparing dinner"

As he heard the sound of the running water coming from the bathroom, his mind was filled with a naked Asuka taking a shower, but he quickly discarded the thought to not feel like a pervert.

As he put the groceries down and turned on the oven, he felt his leg being pulled by something and when he looked down, he saw Pen Pen staring at him and welcoming him back with one of his fins.

Then Shinji said as the penguin started to look at the various bags "it'll be a while before we can eat, I'll call you when it's ready."

And so the penguin nodded and waddled back into his minifridge.

Then the boy shouted "Hey Asuka! Are you sure you don't want to eat anything before going?"

As she stopped the water the girl replied "no, he said that we're going to a restaurant, I'm fine" "thanks for asking though…

It's a bit of a shame that I won't taste that beautiful food of yours for tonight, I can smell it from here! I can just think about you in the kitchen with an apron cooking for me with those delicate han-

Aaaah! Too hot, the water was wayy too hot… Ok, better now...no wait, I'm still feeling strange what is my pro-"

As she looked down she felt something that was not water flowing in her lower body parts and when she realized what it was, all of her body movements stopped as she thought

"dear god, what am I thinking of?

I should be ashamed of myself, to drool for such a lonely and wimpy and pathetic and loving boy… Fuck, those thoughts again!

I'm not in love with him, he's cute, but there is no way in heaven that I'll ever have a relationship with him!"

As she heard the TV being switched on, she turned off the water and started drying herself.

Once she was done she went out of the bathroom and asked Shinji who was watching some random channel

"Hey baka, how do I look?"

"What do you meaaaah"

The problem that was at the moment frying the third child's brain was the fact that Asuka had only covered her essential parts, but basically all of her body was naked.

"you would like to have a look huh?"

"I-"

"agh come on does it take it so long to get an answer from-"

"you are beautiful Asuka"

Then she immediately ran away into her room.

Once inside she closed the door and thought while covering her face "I'm such a fucking hypocrite"

Meanwhile in the living room

A couple of minutes had passed and Shinji had remained perfectly still since he told her those words and for all of this time his thoughts were a repetition of

"Oh my God, I just told her that and she looked… Disgusted, fuck, fuck, this is not good I need to-"

But, he then suddenly heard Asuka's door open and as he saw her walk out in a hurry, he realized that she was late, so he preferred to stay silent and as she said goodbye to him and exited the building.

Once the door was slammed shut he suddenly started to feel a lot less warm as he thought "why did it suddenly get so cold?"

He then turned towards the TV where the weather forecast was on and the man at the map said "this is just in, we have been told that a low pressure vortex will be hitting our coasts soon.

This will result in a heavy storm that will affect Tokyo 3 and 2.

It is supposed to start raining at midnight, but we still don't know when it will end.

Thank you Hiro and now, back to the news"

The boy at this point turned off the TV and thought "I hope Asuka has brought an umbrella with her, but she said that she wanted to be back by eleven, so even she didn't she won't catch the storm"

Then the sound of food boiling coming from the kitchen made him stand up and get ready to have dinner with only the penguin.

Fortress of Doom, 30 minutes before the Rei incident

"Hey Hayden, have you heard? Tonight a big storm is coming" the Slayer said and Samuel replied

"Really, but isn't it like, perpetual summer here?"

"It should be, they say that this low pressure vortex appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the sea.

If it's a new angel I'm calling dibs"

"It can't be, none of my brothers and sisters alter the weather like that, or at least, for what I know" Ramiel said and VEGA added

"my son is right, I've already ran the scanners through the area, but there is nothing"

"we really need to have that talk" Thought Hayden

The Slayer then replied "Oh well, I guess that I'm finally getting paranoid, took me a while after fighting the demons for so long"

Unknown to the three of them, the angel of the night was indeed hiding in that cloud formation and it was steadily approaching the city.

Katsuragi apartment

"Oh, you want more Pen Pen? Here you go, but this is the last time I refill it, you've eaten enough for today"

"Wark"

"ugh, I wonder how Asuka is doing, she must be having so much fun with that guy"

He then thought "lucky bastard…

I did not just think that…

Yes, yes I did.

I guess it's alright that I'm a 'little' envious, I mean, it's Asuka we are talking about and I'm just the wimpy and useless Shinji Ikari.

I mean judging from how she looked at me after what I said earlier, for her I must be so pathetic that even receiving compliments from me disgusts her.

Although, I would like to know what I'm doing that's making her so mad.

I mean, usually people don't get angry when you compliment them, but Asuka seems to be a special case.

Maybe it happens when you are as famous as her? I mean she already has a degree and is an airforce pilot.

The only thing that we seem to have in common is that we are both Evangelion pilots and even there she excels at it.

Meanwhile the last thing of all that we have in common are the feelings for both of us.

My mind must be broken in some way, after all who would remain with Asuka after all she has done to me… No one else…

I don't even think that this new guy is tough enough to resist her, she didn't even look very excited about it if I remember correctly.

Oh well I hope that at least she's having fun… "

"I also hope that she has brought a jacket with herself, it's getting colder by the minute" he then thought out loud and right as he finished, a loud thunder echoed through the city.

As he went outside to take a look, he saw that the storm had arrived earlier than usual and as a raindrop fell on top of his head, he understood that it was about to start, so he returned inside and thought while looking at the clock

"it's 10 pm, I hope that Asuka is fine, she'd better have brought with herself a jacket and an umbrella at least, cause an ocean is going to fall on the city any moment now…

I'll write her a message just to be sure…

'Asuka, it's about to start raining a lot so I hope that you have an umbrella, if not, you can just call me and I'll bring you one, you can come home anytime you want, have fun.'

Ok and send

Now we wait"

An hour later

"she still hasn't come back home, do you think that something may have happened to her, Pen Pen?"

"Wark!"

"Oh yeah you're a penguin, ugh I hope she's close, she hasn't messaged me back and the storm is raging outside of here, maybe her phone battery died?"

Suddenly a loud sound came from the girl's room and so Shinji got closer to the door, intrigued by the strange noise.

But then, he stopped right in front of the door and thought "it's coming from her room…

I know that I shouldn't enter, she tells me that a lot and I also feel like I don't have the right to, but I guess that just a peek won't be a problem"

And so, he slightly opened the sliding door and he saw that one of the windows had been opened by the wind and it was hitting the wall constantly because of it.

So he entered and went to close it back,but once he was done and he had turned back to the hallway, he noticed that she had left the light on her nightstand turned on and that under it there was a piece of paper.

He moved in closer to read it and on it the were written these words:

"to Baka,

I'm writing this down because I want to apologize for what happened earlier when I went out of the shower.

I didn't know what I was doing and when you gave me that answer I felt like I was acting like a bitch, so I ran away, even if you complimented me.

So yeah, sorry about that, but I want to talk with you later, I think that I'll come back home early since that new guy is super boring, at least you can cook well.

I don't know if you'll ever read this or if I'll ever have the strength to say this to you, but I needed to get these words out of me.

"Oh god" was all that he could say and think at the moment as Shinji Ikari's brain had ceased all functions like an overheated CPU.

The total silence didn't last long though as after a while, the boy's phone received a notification.

He immediately switched it on to check who it was and everything that he was able to read was a message from Asuka that said "help".

The next second he was outside of the apartment with two jackets and an umbrella, intent on beating the speed record for running under the rain.

Three minutes later

"come on I'm almost there, I really hope that she's fine, I… need to rest-

No Asuka is more important, I can die of exhaustion, but she has the right to live a happy life and right now she needs my help"

Shinji thought while looking at his phone where Asuka's position was shown.

Meanwhile he was also holding over himself an umbrella and on his other hand a jacket for Asuka.

He was almost hit by a car when he suddenly crossed an intersection, but he didn't care, Asuka was less than 50 meters away…

40…30...20...10...5-

Stop.

There she was, in a small alley, all curled up into a ball, her beautiful dress dirty and wet and her face covered by her legs.

"Oh my God Asuka! *pant* there… *pant*... You are… I finally found you, here take this jacket it's very cold right now"

But when he handed her the coat, she didn't move a centimeter, almost as if she hadn't heard him.

"Asuka, you need to cover yourself or you'll get sick, that dress isn't enough to cover you from this rain"

Seeing no response from her, the third child started moving forward, but, when he was about to touch her, his foot fell next to a broken tin can, crushing it a bit and making a sudden sound.

This made Asuka jerk up her head, locking eyes with a visibly worried Shinji.

"he-he actually came… HeHe came, he… oh my god he cares about me! No wait why am I crying, no stop I promised myself to never cry, no no, not in front of him, I mustn't-"

Her thoughts stopped as the boy placed a hand on her shoulder, while looking at her straight in the eyes.

"she looks so… Fragile, I think that if I touch her in the wrong way or I say the wrong thing she'll just break.

I saw her cry only one time before , but… I don't want to see her like this ever again, even if I have to run this much, I won't run away from her anymore"

And then he hugged her, without saying anything.

They sat like this for a while in total silence, except for Asuka's random sobs, with the umbrella protecting both of them from the incessant rain.

Finally after a couple of minutes, Shinji said "I read your message Asuka…

Sorry for making you feel like that"

"why did you enter my room Shinji?"

"she called me by my first name"

"sorry, but I needed to close a window or your room would have gotten wet and cold"

"Oh, ok…and stop saying sorry for stuff that's not your fault, it makes me furious about it *sob*"

"how about we go back home? You can tell me later why you are like this"

"Okay… Baka"

And so she put on the jacket, but when they got back up and started walking away she almost fell down, if she hadn't grabbed onto the boy's shirt.

This made him stop suddenly and as he looked back at her she said

"I-... Don't feel like walking"

"I can carry you if you want"

"ok… "

And so Asuka got on his back and he started carrying her, while she was holding the umbrella.

She wasn't very light, but not even heavy, mostly because of the coat she was wearing and all the water that was sticking to her.

While he was walking calmly, he felt her head lowering on his back, making him immediately tense up in surprise.

She had never been like this with him after all, except… when they were alone together during various nights, like the one where he held her while she was crying, the nights during the training for Israfel and now this.

He didn't know what to make of it at the moment, but for now his only desire was to bring her home and let her rest.

Ten minutes later

As he left her on her bed, he went into the kitchen to get something for her, but she stopped him and said "hey Shinji… thank you for coming to help me, I really appreciate it"

He smiled at her and then she continued "I have to ask you a favor though… Can you, remain… Here… Close to me?"

"O-h okay Asuka, I'll just go change myself"

The next seconds felt like the longest in Asuka's life and she was getting constantly more tense, but when the baka finally reappeared from her door and got under the covers, all of her worries of him leaving her left her mind.

She immediately moved backwards, making their backs touch and when he felt him turn around she did too.

He was looking at her straight in the eyes, with a serene expression on his face, almost as if all the Evas and the angels didn't exist and they were just two normal teens, enjoying their moments together.

Unfortunately Asuka's subconscious started to shout at her "you can't have a relationship with him!

He's the worst you could ask for! He's meek, spineless and he doesn't even look at you!"

"then why is he doing it now? Actually he always does it and so far in my life he's been the only one who has ever looked at me like mom did,not even Kaji did that!

So shut your ugly mouth and let me rest for a while"

But then almost as a punishment for the insult, her brain replayed in her head one of her most hated scenes of her young life.

And from the hospital bed, her mom said to a doll "Asuka, don't look at that mean girl or you'll end up like her, she's not you, you are my beautiful little daughter"

"Please look at me mom!"

Shinji was about to start sleeping, but suddenly, he saw something Shinji near one of Asuka's eyes and as the moonlight reflected onto the tear, it blinded him in worry and so he asked

"Asuka is everything ok?"

The girl was snapped out of her trance by his voice and then replied

"y-yeah, let's just sleep now"

"No, I want to know, is it because of tonight? Did something go wrong with the date?"

"No… The guy wasn't as bad as I initially thought, but he was far out of my league, but then at one point he brought me to a bar and we started drinking…

And once I got drunk bad memories started coming up.

So I ran away from there and hid in that corner where you found me"

"but why did you call me, of all people? You could have messaged Misato, Section 2,VEGA, the Slayer…"

"they wouldn't have cared!"

As the Ai heard his name being called, he connected to the room, meanwhile he was also following what was happening in the room where Rei was resting in LCL.

As he found himself more and more intrigued by the conversation as it went on, he received a message from unit 01 that was asking for permission to see from the cameras too.

He didn't know what Yui had in mind, but he let her in anyway, after all his son was probably making the right steps towards losing his virginity, as he thought it.

And so Asuka went on a small rant about nobody caring about her if she was weak, but she was suddenly stopped and hugged by Shinji who whispered

"Asuka, to me you'll never be one of those things.

It doesn't matter how low you think of yourself, or how you do on the battlefield, or how angry you are with me.

As long as you act like yourself you'll always be someone that I look upon because of how strong you are, so I don't want you to be sad and I'll try my best to always make you happy"

As the girl heard this, she was visibly shook, she couldn't understand how such words could come from the idiot that was the third child himself, but she didn't question it, because they were the perfect ones.

So now that she knew that he would have always really looked at her, not like any other guy before him, after a couple of minutes, she decided that it was time to play her secret card.

She broke the long silence by saying

"Hey Shinji… Wanna kiss?"

"Sorry what Asuka?"

"I'm bored, let's try kissing"

"where is she going with this?" he thought and then said

"I don't know…"

"What? Are you afraid of kissing the prettiest girl in school?

Or that mommy might be watching you from heaven?"

"okay that was a bit too low" she immediately thought after, not realizing that she had also made Yui a bit angry, while VEGA was having lots of fun.

"n-no!"

"then let's do it, have you washed your teeth?"

He nodded and brought his head closer to hers and closed his eyes.

But Asuka hesitated, as she still wasn't believing what she was about to do.

"Oh shit, my first kiss… Oh uhhh I'm m what do I doo…

I need to control something about this, I can't let myself go, I ummm ahhh.

His nose!"

"your breath is tickling me" she said and without giving him time to react, she closed his nose with two fingers and gave in, connecting their mouths, but…

It felt like something was missing.

And while it remained invisible to her, VEGA and Yui could see it perfectly from the cameras.

Shinji's hands were shaking, both because of the fear, adrenaline and tension that was inside of him as Yui said "come on my dear you can do it, I know you can, you can be better than your father"

And so VEGA thought "better than his father? I think that I need to ask some questions to the NERV staff"

Meanwhile Shinji had just finished resolving his internal conflict and as his hands turned into a fist he got a rush of determination and he gave in too, just before Asuka was about to lose all hope.

The sensation overwhelmed both of them as they felt electricity flow through their spines and as their tongues touched, they started to feel one another.

They started to get as close as they could to each other, none of them wanting to interrupt the kiss in any way possible.

Meanwhile Yui was jumping in delight and happiness, in fact she almost activated unit 01 at one point for how happy she was, but VEGA soon calmed her down.

Meanwhile, inside of unit 02, even if she couldn't see it, the soul inside of it was truly happy for her daughter as well.

But then, just when the two teens had started 'touching' themselves as they wanted to be brought even closer and VEGA was about to cut the feed, they were suddenly jumpscared by the sound of the monstrous engines of the fortress of doom rising from the underground next to their apartment.

This unfortunately stopped the kiss, making Asuka and Shinji separate and take in some air that they desperately needed while they still kept looking each other in the eyes.

They didn't want to, but their curiosity took over and so they both went on the balcony to check what was happening.

Covered balcony

As they got out, they were presented with the awesome visage that was the fortress of doom floating above Tokyo 3 in the rainy night sky.

It then started to lower itself and as Shinji recognized the place over where it was floating he said "why is it so near Ayanami's place?"

"wait, she lives there?"

And then a third voice replied "yes,but not for much more, she is right now deep at NERV because she almost died of overdose"

"What!?" they both said in perfect unison

And so VEGA continued, while being listened to by Yui too

"this was the result of an attempt by commander Ikari to make her return to her old self by injecting her with an addictive heavy animal tranquilizer.

Thankfully though she called Hayden in time and now she is resting in a tube of LCL in the geofront's hospital"

"LCL? Why?" Shinji asked and VEGA said

"Akagi has told us that because of what Rei is, spending long amounts of time in it is beneficial to her health"

And then Asuka said "What does this have to do with the ship?"

"It is a 'suggestion' that was made by the Slayer after he learned about this, he also said that the commander needed to be punished for his actions, but that he wasn't going to kill him.

Anyhow, right now my two sons are going to use the ship's weapons to bring down the entire district where Ayanami lived so that she would never be able to return to it and since it needed to be demolished anyway.

Oh, now I can inform you that the Slayer has kept his word"

"What do you mean? Is my dad ok?"

"how does 17 cut wounds sound to you?"

"Oh God, will he be ok?"

"Yes, none of them are serious, they will be gone in a couple of weeks, I believe that the Slayer did this also to send him a message, which is to simply not mess with him or the ones he cares about"

"Oh, ok…"

"and here come the fireworks"

The sound of the weapons firing and of buildings collapsing echoed throughout all Tokyo 3,waking up everyone.

Fortress of Doom

"Yaaay it went kaboom!" Ramiel shouted as he watched the debris fall to the ground and Hayden said

"you sure like seeing things get destroyed"

"Yeeesss I love it, can we shoot at that flying thing too?"

"What? Which one?"

"to our left"

As the robot turned his head he saw a VTOL floating outside of the ship, observing them from a distance.

Then, he saw that it had a symbol on the sides and as he got a closer look at it he thought

"Oh, it's the local news, they'll probably want to ask me some questions… that won't end well…

Let's just pretend like nothing happened… Oh right Ramiel"

"Hey Ramiel, I need you to stay as still as possible, don't make a sound ok?"

he said without moving his head and the angel replied

"um, ok Sam"

Hayden then started flying the ship back into the geofront and as he passed near the VTOL, he waved at the pilot and the reporter who were watching them, before submerging the fortress once more.

The balcony

"Well that was something, thanks for the warning VEGA, I would have been super worried if you hadn't told us"

"don't worry Shinji, now I'll let you return to your previous activities, I have already turned off the cameras"

"Wha-"

"we weren't going to do that!"

"It really looked like it Asuka, but I guess that my judgment isn't always perfect, I'll turn them off anyway, good night"

And then the video feed went silent.

As the Ai was about to resume his previous task, he noticed that Yui was gone from the feed and then he felt anger coming from unit 01.

He then checked the Slayer's location and saw that he was about to enter the cage on his way back to the fortress.

Unit 01's cage

"maybe I should have cut him more, he might be able to survive those injuries a bit too easily,oh well at least he clearly received the mess-"

His thoughts were suddenly stopped when he entered the cage and saw that unit 01 was active and even if it hadn't moved, he could feel that it was staring right at him.

"ohhh looks like I made our robot Lady mad… Well he is her husband…"

He pulled forward the Doom blade from his wrist, it's tip still covered with blood and then he walked right in front of unit 01 and said while pointing the blade straight at it.

"are you mad about this?"

He saw the white eye tighten and so he continued "Well in sorry, but it had to be done, Rei today almost died and Gendo's attitude in general towards Shinji has made him deserve each one of those cuts"

The eye widened again, but this time it was much faster, almost as if the revelation had shocked her.

He didn't expect this, but he took the opportunity and said "yeah I know, the problem is that you can only see what happens around the unit, not outside so you are missing out on a lot of stuff, like for example the fact that he doesn't even treat him like a son"

The eyes then became more rounded and the Eva seemed to tilt its head a bit, she wanted to know more, but the Slayer didn't want to let the conversation go on for too long or they might have been found out so he simply said

"He treats Shinji like an… inconvenience in his life, he doesn't care about him, doesn't talk to him, they basically only see each other here at NERV and even then they can't look each other in the eyes…

I have to go now, good night Yui"

And so the eyes went dark once more, but right as the Slayer was about to leave the room, a sudden movement was heard from the bottom of the cage and a moment later VEGA told him

"It seems that the sub-commander has heard your conversation.

He specifically got scared when you called the eva Yui…

I believe that he knows more than he shows, are you going to talk to him?"

"can you do it? I'm not feeling like it tonight"

"Ok, I'll tell you and Hayden what I discover"

Kozo's office

"Oh dear lord" the elder said tlas he locked the door behind him, he couldn't believe what he had just witnessed.

"the Slayer has just talked with unit 01 about Gendo and not only it replied, but then when he said goodbye…

I swear I heard him call it Yui…

Could they know the full truth?

No, we would already be dead by that point, but how do they-"

"Hello sub-commander" VEGA said from the man's computer and Kozo then immediately thought "shit"

"h-hello VEGA, what is it?"

"I think we both know the answer to this question so I'll just skip straight to the point…

What were you doing in unit 01's cage?"

"I - no lying with them Kozo -...

I was following the Slayer, I wanted to know precisely what he had done to Gendo after I found him with all of those cuts, but when he reached the cage and he started talking with the evangelion, I…

Just what do you know about her?"

"other than the fact that she is trapped into the Eva and that she is able to communicate with us, not much"

"Oh"

"that's why I wanted to ask you something about her"

"there really isn't much that I can say to you"

"I think that you'll be able to answer this one…

What was her relationship with Gendo like?"

"Damn he is cutting deep"

And so Fuyutsuki sat down at his chair and started talking

"that is a very good question, with an equally interesting answer…"

"I'm all ears"

"you see, Yui had been my student back when I was a professor in university, various years before the second impact.

It is during that time that she met Gendo and fell in love with him.

To be honest I never understood why she liked him so much.

My first interaction with him was when I pulled him out of jail for a bar fight he had gotten himself into.

He didn't look like much, average build, shaved face, he didn't bring glasses and the attitude of a drug addict.

But as time went on I started to see what it was that Yui liked so much about him.

He was a very determined man, that's for sure, but he also cared about her to no end.

They completed each other basically and this suspicion was made true when I was invited to their marriage.

They managed to live happily through the worst of Second impact and a couple of years later, Shinji was born.

That's when things started to turn for the worse."

"interesting… Go on"

"What I'm going to tell you is probably something that only I know so listen carefully.

You see, after Shinji was born, Gendo started to become…

Envious, envious of his own son because of all the love that he was receiving from Yui.

And after a couple of months of Shinji's birth, the first accident happened.

It wasn't noticed by many, but one day Yui had come to work with a livid on her face and when I asked her about it she simply said that she had fallen down the stairs.

The problem was that… Her house was a single story one, with no stairs that I knew of, but at the time I let it slide and went on with my life.

Then it happened another time, this was on the day of Shinji's second birthday, she had come to work with a livid on her face and one on her wrist.

When I asked her about it she again said that it had been an accident and that it was nothing serious, but there was already suspicion rising between my colleagues and me.

Finally, on the day of Shinji's third birthday, I was at their house since they invited me to the party.

I was alone in the living room drinking something while the others had gone outside, meanwhile the young Shinji was playing with some of his presents on the floor.

And then the boy asked me:

Flashback

"Mr Kozo, what do you think of my drawing?"

"It looks very nice Shinji, but I can't understand who is the one on the right"

"Oh, she is Asuka, she is the daughter of one of mum's friends, Ms So-sar-saru?"

"I think that you mean Soryu"

"Yes!

You see I did this because I am very good friends with Asuka and I wanted to give her a present"

"but her birthday is very far Shinji"

"I don't care, I want to give it to her anyway, also because she is cute, hehe"

"already thinking about love at your age? You'll grow up to be a genius my boy"

"Hey Mr Fuyutsuki, do my parents love each other?"

"what? Where did that come from?" "Yes, Shinji, they do"

"then why does dad shout at mum a lot?"

"Oh no, please don't tell me" "can… I know more Shinji?"

"sometimes, especially when mum is hugging me or kissing me, dad gets very angry and he starts shouting at her.

He says that mum ignores him because of me, but this isn't true she loves him and I love my dad too!"

"this is strange… do they just shout at each other?"

"N-no, sometimes, when dad is really angry… He hits mum really hard, even when she keeps saying that she loves him.

Why does dad do that Mr Kozo?"

"I'm sorry Shinji, but I don't know, hey it looks like your little girlfriend is waiting outside for you, why don't you bring her your drawing?"

"I'm going!"

And so the boy went out of the room, where he hugged Asuka and then the two went to play outside.

And then a new kiss began, which ended in both of them going to sleep in Asuka's bed, holding each other with smiles on their faces.

A rekindled couple is talking about their lives in the bed of an apartment, while the rest of the city sleeps silently.

And finally four guardians who have decided to not sleep,

A cyborg with alien origins, a demigod with still undiscovered power, a literal God who resides in a computer…

And an angel child who just wants to have some friends.

All of this is accompanied and muted out by the heavy rain, which is hiding the first one of the obstacles that will threaten our heroes' stability.

In the sky the moon watches silently and on its surface a boy is listening to a calm song while he shines and thinks about the future.
