"Kimberly!" Tommy cried as he ran over to here. He dropped to his knees and felt her forehead. She felt warm and her clothes were soaked in sweat, it was almost like someone had poured bucket of water over her head.
"Tommy, is she okay?" Billy shouted as he ran towards them.
"She's running a fever," Tommy explained when he lifted Kimberly off the ground bridal style. "Could you call Hayley and ask her to come fill in?"
"Sure, Billy answered.
"Billy, when Hayley gets here, tell her that you both need to be on the lookout," Tommy whispered. "I saw creature that looks a lot like Goldar."
Meanwhile, Randall went behind the bushes and transformed into Elsa. Goldar and Zeltrax peaked from around a tree and saw the coast was clear.
"So, Tommy doesn't want to admit that I am back!" Goldar hissed when he watched Tommy carry Kimberly to his jeep.
"I don't see what made Tommy love Kimberly," Elsa grumbled. "I want Tommy all for myself."
"Don't forget that you promised to help me break up Tommy and Kimberly," Zeltrax reminded her when he watched Tommy pull off the parking lot. "I want to have a chance with Kimberly."
"I am working on it. I am also doing it for my own benefit. I want to have a chance with Tommy because we once dated before he met Kimberly. I thought I got over my feelings for Tommy when I met my husband, Quinten Randall," Elsa snapped as she glared at Zeltrax. "Once we were married, he wasn't home very much because he was a paleontologist and he was always traveling. But, whenever he was home, we were always fighting. I wanted him to quit his job and come home. He didn't want to. One night I went to the movies and saw her with another woman. She was a paleontologist and her name was Shannon Ryan. I caught them kissing. Quinten said he was going to divorce me so he could marry Shannon. I can't believe I was dumb enough to break up with Tommy."
"I want to destroy Tommy and so does Goldar," Zeltrax informed. "Both of us have held a grudge against Tommy for years."
"And I want to prove that I am stronger than Tommy by defeating him in battle," Goldar retorted.
Kimberly shivered as Tommy brought her in their humid bedroom. Her stomach had been hurting from the moment that she collapsed and she felt as if she was bruised. All she wanted to do right now is curl up in bed. Maybe later on, she would hopefully feel up to watching some TV. Hopefully, she would be able to find something good on TV that was worth watch. Just as long as it wasn't a cooking show.
"Tommy, I'm cold," Kimberly coughed when he helped her into their bathroom. "I'm also dizzy and really tired."
"You're going to be okay," Tommy promised as he walked over to the dresser. He opened a drawer and pulled out a pair of pink and white plaid flannel pajama pants and a pink tee shirt. "Let's get you changed into some dry clothes."
Kimberly slowly tried to make her way to the toilet. With every step she took, she could feel her stomach tightening and aching more. She kept swallowing but her throat was still clenching. No matter how hard she tried, she wasn't able to stop a warm feeling rising through her chest. She was starting to taste in the back of her mouth. Kimberly dropped to her knees and a warm, clouded, cream color liquid spilled from her mouth; it sizzled as it splashed all over the cold floor tile.
"Beautiful, I'm going to help you get dressed and then you can lay in bed," Tommy said as he brought in her pajamas. " I'll clean up the mess and then I'll take your temperature."
Kimberly changed into her nice comfortable pajamas and started to make her way to their bed. She took a few steps and stumbled right before she got to their bed, but Tommy caught her right before she hit the floor. They made their way over to their bed and Kimberly climbed into the nice soft bed. Waves of heat traveled through Kimberly's blood, a cold sweat glistened as beads of sweat ran down her face. Her eyes were sunken and her skin was pale; her whole body ached. Tommy placed a thermometer in her mouth. After two minutes, he removed the thermometer and saw she had a temperature of 101. He went into the bathroom and got a wet wash cloth. Once, he placed it on Kimberly's head, he realized that they were going to need some over the counter medicine, popsicles, jello, oatmeal, disposable silverware, and some TV dinners.
"Kim, I'm going to go to the mini super market at the end of our road," Tommy said. "Will you be okay, if I leave you hear for about a little while? I won't be gone any longer than half an hour."
"I'll be fine," Kimberly assured him letting out a yawn.
"Okay," Tommy answered kissing her on the cheek. "You rest and I'll be back shortly."
Tommy walked outside and walked over to his jeep. He was in for a big surprise because he had a flat tire. He couldn't wait for anyone to come fix it. His wife was sick and she need him to be home as quickly as he could. The mini supermarket was only a ten minute to walk there. So, he wouldn't be gone too long. Unknown to Tommy, Goldar and Zeltrax peaked around Tommy's house. Both of them were snickering.
"It serves Tommy right to have to walk all the way to the mini market and back," Zeltrax laughed watching Tommy walk down the long path. "It's supposed to rain and he'll just have to walk back in the rain."
"It serve him right," Goldar agreed. "Tommy and Kimberly are claiming that they have seen a creature who looks like me. I can't believe they haven't recognized me!"
"They may not want to believe it is you," Zeltrax guessed.
"I can't believe they wouldn't recognize an old friend," Goldar stated stomping his feet. "But, they will know it's me. It won't be long until I reveal myself to them! I'm just waiting for the prefect time!"
The heavy rain continued to fall as Tommy made his way back to their home. The bottom of his pant legs was covered in brown water from where he had walked through mud puddles. When he was half way home, he slipped and went head first right into a pile of mud with a horrible smell. It even got in his soon as he walked in, he washed his hand and dried them with a green dish towel. He laid the disposable bowls, cups, and silverware on the table and put away all of his groceries away.
He quietly walked up the stairs and saw Kimberly was still asleep. She was sleeping peacefully and he didn't want to disturb her for now. In the meantime, he was going to shower off. When he walked into the bathroom, the smell was a lot stronger and he took off his tan shirt. He sniffed it and realized that he fell in dog poop. No wonder he had a horrible scent on him. Tommy striped out of his clothes and took a shower. In the shower, his head and shoulder shampoo bottle was empty. The only shampoo that was in the shower was lavender shampoo. He had forgotten to put a new bar of dial soap in the shower. And the only thing other type of soap was Kimberly's lavender shower gel. At least its scent had a much better smell. He grabbed Kimberly's lavender shampoo and squirted it into his hair. While he was working the shampoo in to his hair, he remembered telling Kimberly that he'd never use her lavender scented a shampoo or shower gel. But, Kimberly was sick, so it was worth it in the long run.
After doing a load of laundry, Tommy returned to their bedroom. He was tired and was yawning. All he wanted to do was go to bed. He opened a drawer and pulled out a pair of black pajama and pants and a white pajama shirt. When he put it on, it was a little longer than one of his regular shirts. It was probably one of the shirts that he bought in the wrong size and forgot to take it back and exchange it. Oh, well it was just one night. He climbed under the covers and pulled Kimberly close to him.
"Good night, beautiful," Tommy whispered.
The following morning, Kimberly woke up and found that Tommy was sleeping right next to her. He was more than likely tired after a long day and went to bed early. She noticed there was something different about him. He was wearing a white floral top and the sleeves were like a three-quarter sleeve shirt. She didn't remember him having a shirt like that before. Being careful not to wake Tommy, she pulled the covers down. No wonder the shirt sleeves were too short for him. He was wearing one of flannel night gowns with lace around the bottom.
"Tommy started to shiver and woke up. "How long have you been awake?" he asked. "How are you feeling?"
"I just woke up," Kimberly answered and her face turned bright red. She was trying so hard to laugh. "I'm feeling better than yesterday."
"Kim, what's so funny?" he questioned raising an eye brow.
"Tommy, I think that you'd better look in the mirror," Kimberly suggested as she started to laugh.
Tommy climbed out of bed and went over to the mirror. "AAAHHHHHHHHH!" Tommy screamed as he looked at himself in the mirror. He looked in horror in the mirror, and saw it wasn't one of his shirts bought in the wrong size. It was one of Kimberly's night's gowns. The lacy night gown came down to a few inches below his calves. "Kim, I didn't do this on purpose. I was just really tired last night. The light was turned off and I didn't want to wake you. I just grabbed a top and a pair of pajama pants. I should have been-"
"-this embarrassing moment is safe between the two of us," she assured him as he pulled off her night gown and put on a black tee shirt. "I know you were just tired."
"I am going to take your temperature again this morning," he said as picked up the thermometer from the night stand and started to shake it. "Are up to eating anything?"
"I still feel weak, I have a cold, and I feel sick to my stomach," Kimberly answered as Tommy placed the thermometer in her mouth.
"Are you up drink some sprite and eating some chicken noodle soup?" Tommy asked as he took the thermometer out of her mouth. He read it and saw her fever was gone.
"Yes, I'm up to a sprite and chicken noodle soup," Kimberly answered when he prompted up her pillows.
"Okay, I'll go down to the kitchen and fix," Tommy said.
"I hope I am not sick too long," Kimberly informed him as she leaned back.
"It's just side effects from where you were frozen," Tommy explained giving her a kiss on the forehead. "Haley said that it should wear off in two days. And don't worry about school. I've already called in substitute teachers for us."
Author's note:
The event with Tommy and the night gown was originally going to be in Second Chance: Return of an Old Friend, but I decided to have Tommy be sick instead and then use it in this story. I've had that scene planned for over a year and I'm happy that I've finally be able to tell this part of the story. The next chapter will deal with Trent.
