Ki Master
Chapter 14
Author Notes: Ok, so admittedly this chapter is a bit different since I'll be doing two different 3rd pov perspectives into one chapter instead of separating them like I usually do. I wasn't sure what to do, but after just going for it, I'm satisfied, so here we go! I do not own Blue Exorcist.
3rd P.O.V
Fujimoto frowned as he checked his watch, it was getting late into the night now and Yukio still wasn't home. Neither him nor Rin gave him a call on his tardiness either...he was getting worried. "Shiro calm down, I'm sure Yukio is fine!"
Yes he probably was. "I wouldn't be surprised if he went out on patrol after dropping off Rin. Not realizing the time." It wouldn't the first nor the last time something akin to this has happened. "Or you know, Rin's mother insisted he stay and chat for awhile~" That was a possibility as well.
Though he's never met the infamous woman, he could tell she meant a lot to his new employee. Still despite all the reassurances from his friends, there was still this sense of unease that clung to his soul.
Not long ago he felt a huge spike of demonic energy ways along the humble town. Coal tars were fluttering out of control from the incredible power. Though it's died down almost as fast as it came, it still wasn't reassuring.
He just wished that there was some sort of sign to confirm or deny his concerns. Suddenly the church doors flew open, revealing a panicked Mephesto who just as quickly slammed the doors shut. "Hide me!"
The priest quirked an eyebrow as the demon twitched, his eyes roaming from side to side as he evaluated what items he could get his hands on. "Good evening to you too Mephesto, come on in." On any other day the King of Time would laugh and have some sort of witty come back.
Sad to say that he couldn't as of this moment. "Help me barricade the doors! This is an emergency!" Never has he seen his friend so panicked before, so he and his fellow exorcists could only oblige as they went about gathering weapons and heavy furniture.
"What's going on!?" Suddenly he felt it. Anger, Malice and frustration from miles away coming closer. It was a strong demonic aura, the one he had felt earlier. It was coming their way. Immediately Shiro sends a harsh scowl the demons' way. "What. Did. You. Do!?"
A whimper escaped from the usually jolly man, who literally hid behind him, clutching his clothes like a child. "Don't let her find me!" Her? His eyes narrow suspiciously as he brings out his gun, aiming right for the door. "Who?"
The monastery suddenly shook as large bangs echoed from beyond the door. "Let me in! NOW!" The bangs got louder, the tables and chairs quaking along with the building. "Mephesto! Who is that!?" He hissed as the swiftly made barricade started to tumble, it wouldn't be long.
"My ex..." There was no time for Fujimoto to process the words before the doors blasted open, sending the table and various chairs flying. "Whoa!" They were barely able to get out of the way as the hard wood clattered against the walls.
It takes a moment for him and the others to collect their bearings. "Shiro Fujimoto! Ahh...and Samael is here as well. Perfect. It's time we have a long overdue chat." The low feminine voice was quite the surprise as he looked up, blinking as he saw a woman covered head to toe in blood.
Even more so was the strong demonic energy radiating off her. All those negative emotions oozing came from her, blasted him in full force. "My love-ohhh how i've missed you." Mephesto beams as he rushes towards her, arms extended. A reaction that confused the hell out of Shiro.
Wasn't he literally cowering in fear from her not even five seconds ago!? Just what is going on? "You know you should really learn to send an invitation. It's quite rude to barge into someone's territory without permission."
She growled, eyes flashing in rage. "Perhaps you should take your own advice you wretched trickster. I know it was you who sent that damn tengu into my territory!" Ming Xia was in no mood for this bullshit. "Me? Why I never-on what grounds?" Crossing her arms she sends him a look, before switching gears.
There were more pressing matters to attend to. "Don't play innocent with me! I'll be sure to deal with you later however. I have other things to partake to. Priest Fujimoto! I need to speak to you. But first, let's get your son to his room so he can rest." It's then he sees...Yukio!? And Rin!?
...
Time ticked on...
"Ugh what happened?" Blinking the blurry world around him came into focus. "Where?" He was laying on his back, his hurting eyes finding a familiar ceiling, causing him to relax slightly. He was home. "Morning sleeping beauty." The familiar voice caused confusion as Yukio tilted his head to the side.
What was Rin doing here? Did Yukio sleep in? He had to if the ravenette was already at the monastery for his shift. "Take it easy, you have a slight fever." A fever? It explained why he was struggling to focus. It's been awhile since he's caught a cold but the symptoms were all there.
His body ached all over, he was freezing as well despite being cocooned into a soft blanket. Rin looked like his body was constantly shifting at fast speeds. "Here. I took off your glasses while you were resting."
Within a matter of moments, Yukio's vision clears and he pales. Rin had fangs, horns and a tail. "Wha-!" Rin tried to hide his pain as the taller boy recoils at his close proximity. Then all of a sudden visions of what happened before Yukio fell unconscious smashed into his brain like a truck.
He remembers walking Rin home, only to discover Rin and his mother were demons. "So it wasn't a dream..." Demons that...somehow meant no harm? The mental whiplash and weakness in his limbs make him collapse into his pillow. "How did I get home?" And how long was he knocked out for?
"My mom and I brought you. She wanted to talk to Fujimoto and was worried when you blacked out on us. It's been a couple hours by the way." Rin was quiet as he answered his brother's question, strangely subdued.
There was this...distance between them despite Rin being only a few feet away. "I see..." Of course it made sense since neither boy knew where they stood with each other. "Have you been here? Watching over me this whole time?" The demonic boy rubbed the back of his neck, cracking it as he backed away.
Picking up the manga he accidentally dropped while waiting for the sick patient to awaken. "Yeah. Though there wasn't much I could do. Mom hasn't taught me anything on Ki healing and in any case it doesn't really do anything for illnesses. Most I could do was make you soup."
Both turned their gazes to the left, finding a bowl full of piping hot chicken noodles there waiting for him. For a moment Yukio pauses before grabbing the dish and spoon, taking a tentative sip. "It's good. Thank you." The chef in question nods but says nothing as he puts the book up on Yukio's shelf.
Silence trickles in as the exorcist in training eats his meal, marveled at the incredible flavors found within the broth. Even something as simple as chicken noodle soup was made with a lot of care and expertise in Rin's hands.
Even when revealed to be a creature of evil and maliciousness, his cooking-no. Rin, hasn't changed. He was still the same awkward teen he ran into at the restaurant, albeit more timid now that his secret was out in the open. Everything he was ever taught in the ways of exorcism has been thrown into the trash.
Answers were needed more than ever. As soon as the last drop of soup was drained from the bowl, it's returned to the nightstand. "Your mom called me your twin brother." It was time to handle the can of worms thrown into his lap.
"Yep." Luckily for him it looked like Rin wasn't going to try and deny him any explanations. "How long have you known? How Did you know?" Rin's tone was chipper, but he was a crappy actor. Practically wearing his anxiety and worry on his sleeve as he fidgeted in place.
Purposely avoiding a fierce blue-green gaze. "Since I was little...I can't remember what age. But I was in elementary school. Your elementary school. And as far as how I found out? Mom told me." His school? Rin easily read his twin's puzzled expression.
And could quickly assume what his next question was. "We were in different classes." That wasn't the whole truth, Yukio knew that from the way Rin bit his lip as he scrunched his shoulders. However he chose not to ignore the signs. He would pursue the truth. "Tell me everything."
With a sigh Rin sat down in Yukio's rolling chair, getting himself comfortable. "It's a long story." He was going to be in for a long night. "It's a good thing we got plenty of time for it." So he could only go on telling the sick teen all that he knew.
The story his mother told him of their origins, why the two brothers never crossed paths up until recently and even Rin's encounter with Mephesto. The clock ticked in a rhythmic pattern, helping to keep Rin calm and steady as he does his best to answer his curious audience member's questions.
It was a crazy explanation, all of Yukio's training instincts telling him to dismiss Rin's statements. This was a demon sitting in front of him, he could easily lie or bend the truth. But, he couldn't deny the feelings in his heart and what he himself has seen. That the connection between them was there.
From the moment he first saw him, there was the pull, that he needed to know who he was. And when they formed a friendship Yukio had no qualms speaking his mind and being himself. Something he never did with strangers.
Up until tonight, Yukio was needed as Yukio the friend instead of Yukio the exorcist or protégé of Shiro Fujimoto. "You said we went to the same school when we were younger, why didn't you approach me?" And even now he was to an extent still needed as a friend.
Especially with how sad Rin looked as he sulked in his seat. "I wanted to. But then me and mom found out the old man was training you. She didn't want me to risk hanging out with you, spilling the beans and getting shot. Mom's still got a grudge on the perverted priest for nailing her shoulder."
The answer was logical enough for him to accept it. Since birth he had been able to see demons and other supernaturals. The moment he was able Fujimoto started training him so he could protect himself from any threats at any time. "So was our mother human?" Rin blinked, surprised, this was going rather well.
He was seriously expecting Yukio to try shooting him the moment he realized that Rin was still here in demon form. "I think so. Mom rarely talks about her. But she mentioned in the story about us being half demons and considering who our biological father is...I'd say she was human."
Before anymore could be said a huge scream made the church shake and rumble. "What the!?" Rin stumbled to his feet, wincing as the chair he was in clattered to the ground. "The hell's going on?" Yukio struggled out of the blankets keeping him in place.
Nearly falling out had Rin not caught his falling twin. "Let's go!" Together the pair made their way out of the bedroom, a strange sense of trust formed between them. Even with all the confusion, the sense of companionship stayed. Should things go south, they would have each other's back.
Although neither of them seemed prepared for what they found when they headed towards the explosion.

Author Notes: And this is the last of my chapter bundle guys. After blitzing through several different series i'm working on I worked out with sen that after like 10,000 word limits on my work that I would upload however many chapters to give myself a break and a chance to work on other stories.
So as with last time, it'll take a little while before I end up reposting another batch of chappys for this story. But regardless of how long it takes, thank you all for reading this series. It means a lot since a lot of people seem interested in how this goes...
Even though I have no clue what to do should I ever get to the school arc(I'm like 14 chapters in and I didn't get to the actual school yet-it's underleague ALL OVER AGAIN! *screams in agony* So long as I don't take 20-30 chapters before the school I should be good...
