The song of the cassette will be in here, and pretend this song was already out during this time. I know they're still young but it's the story. Enjoy.
Chapter 12
So I'm daydreamin', with my chin in the palm of my hands
About you, you, and only you
(Daydreamin' - Ariana Grande)
The song was stuck in Sam's head and it wouldn't leave. Tonks was right, Sam did love the songs and they did come in handy. If there was a song to describe Sam at the moment, this one would be it. All she could do was daydream about that one person, that one redhead.
Fred and Sam had gone out many more times, and both could care less about how young they were. During classes, Fred couldn't pay attention. All he was focused on was Sam, and it was difficult to stop. George and Lee always found who he was staring at and always snickered, teasing Fred whenever they could.
"Oh shut up, you would understand if you were me," Fred would say. "She's got to be the best looking in her year, maybe even the best looking in the entire school."
Sam noticed how Fred was no longer shy when they went out. He was very confident, which was more like him. So far, it was only dates.
"How did it go?" Ginny would always ask when Sam returned. Ginny somehow knew whenever the two would be going out, and Sam was sure Fred stopped sharing. Sam would tell Ginny about it, careful with what she was revealing. She wouldn't want to be the reason why Fred was being teased. But Sam didn't know she was already the reason.
December finally started. Sam didn't know whether she wanted to stay at Hogwarts or go back home for the holidays, but she had enough time to decide. And for some unknown reason, Sam had a feeling something big would happen today. Now, she was at the Great Hall, scanning through the Daily Prophet and eating little to nothing. She tugged on the sleeves of her slightly oversized sweater, a tad bit nervous of what the Prophet had to say about Sirius.
"One question, why are you such an early bird?" Someone asked, plopping into the empty seat by Sam.
"One answer, because it's a school day," Sam answered Fred, who grinned at her answer. "George, get your own," Sam said as she saw George trying to reach for her bacon out of the corner of her eye. George snickered and pulled his arm back.
"What's on the Prophet today?" George asked, taking the paper from Sam.
"Whatever's been on there for the past months," Sam replied, earning another grin from Fred. The twins began discussing a prank they were planning and as Sam was listening, she felt something placed into the palm of her hand. Sam quickly read it and it said, "Friday after school?" She looked up and Fred raised his brows. She nodded, already excited for that day.
Sam finished and quickly dressed into the proper school attire, heading to her first class of the day. Arithmancy wasn't all that hard, and as long as she stayed on Professor Vector's good side, she would be okay. Sam surely wouldn't want detention, especially with the following events that week.
After all classes, Sam went to work at the library instead of the Common Room. During the students' lunch break, she had gone to the library and while reading a random book, she came across the term 'vibe' and was interested. Sam wanted to learn more about it, the only information about vibes in that book was that it was some sort of communication.
"Where'd you go?" Fred asked as Sam came into view. She would return to the library do more research, but right now she craved her friends' company.
"Library," Sam answered, taking a seat beside him. George faked a gag at the word and Sam stuck her tongue out at him in response.
"That's horrible, who in their right mind would want to go there?" George asked jokingly.
"Obviously not you two," Sam replied, causing both twins to snicker. They continued eating and telling jokes, then finished and went back up to the Common Room.
When the twins weren't looking, Sam snuck away. She still wanted to learn more about what she had read and did not want to wait until the next day.
"Hey, where'd Sammy go?" Fred asked, noticing she wasn't there anymore. George turned around and couldn't find Sam either.
"Dunno, probably went to the loo," George said with a shrug of his shoulders.
It was around twelve in the morning and Sam still hadn't returned from the library. She ended up going through the Restricted Section and found a book, the "Book of Spells." Sam did not believe that book belonged there, but as she flipped through the pages, she understood why it was there. She got distracted and read the book, discovering spells she hadn't known before. There was one she remembered from Remus, the Patronus Charm. It was used as for protecting oneself from Dementors, as Remus had told her.
Fred was waiting for Sam in the Common Room, but she hadn't come up yet. Earlier, he asked Ginny if she was in her dorm or if she had seen Sam, both answers being no. He asked Harry if he could borrow the Marauder's Map for a few moments, and Harry let him. Fred looked for Sam's dot and found it at the Restricted Section of the library, so he got up and headed to where she was.
Fred made it to the library and entered the Restricted Section. He hadn't been there in for the longest time, no surprises there. His eye caught a small ray of light from an aisle and Fred walked in that direction. He found Sam, who was reading a large book with the light from the tip of her wand. She was so focused, she didn't even hear or see Fred pass by. He crept up behind her, waiting until she noticed.
Sam felt someone breathing on the back of her neck and goosebumps formed on her arms. She gripped her wand tightly and spun around, suppressing a shriek when she saw who it was. "Fred," she breathed out shakily. With those words, Fred suddenly felt quite brave and confident.
"Sorry I startled you," he said and she nodded. "But I've got a question for you."
"Go on."
"What would you do if someone kissed you?" Fred asked, no trace of embarrassment found in his tone. Sam went quiet and she felt the heat slowly rising to her cheeks.
"K-kissed...me?" She asked nervously. Normally, Sam hated being asked these questions. She found it weird, but Fred was an exception. He nodded. "I - well, um..." Sam pondered the question. "I - it depends...on who kissed me," she finally answered. And Fred flashed her a smirk. Oh Merlin.
"And what if that someone was me?" He asked, stepping closer. Sam didn't say anything, and he could see the faint blush on her cheeks. She wanted to give him an answer but her mouth wouldn't open. His next words were exactly what she thought of: "Why don't I see for myself?"
That night, Sam had her first kiss. With Fred Weasley, her best friend, the person she fancied. After about a minute, Fred pulled away, still wearing that smirk. "You're a natural," Fred commented.
"And how would you know?" Sam asked back curiously. Thanks to the small light, she could see Fred's ears go red. She gasped. "Fred Weasley! Have you snogged your pillow?"
Fred didn't answer which gave her the answer. She quietly giggled, and it made Fred grin. "Don't tell anyone," he said.
"Oh I don't plan to, your secret's safe with me," Sam answered, putting the book back in the empty space it belonged in.
"Which secret? The one where I'm a brilliant kisser or the other one?" He joked.
"That was only my first kiss, how am I supposed to know you were brilliant?" She asked, both heading out.
"My parents had seven kids, the talent must have passed down," Fred said proudly.
"By talent, I hope you don't mean how they got seven kids," Sam replied, trying her best to not laugh. Fred gasped and faked a gag.
"Absolutely disgusting!" He complained, Sam letting out a giggle or two. Fred pushed the nasty image out of his mind, now terrified of his parents. They walked back to the Common Room in silence, but cherished each other's company.
"See you later," Sam said once at the steps of the girls' dormitory. "Night Weasley," she waved.
"G'night Black," Fred answered. Sam wondered yet again how he didn't notice that her last name was the same as the Azkaban escapee.
Their cheeks hurt from smiling too much, but it was worth it.
Wow, this was weird. Be safe.
