Chapter 32
They woke up around six-thirty feeling hungry. Leonard kissed Penny before getting up to go to the bathroom and later to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Penny followed shortly going straight to the bathroom to take a quick shower. They sat at the table to eat breakfast when Leonard asked his wife how she was feeling.
"Are you still feeling sick?" he asked.
"Not for now." Penny said.
"That's great. Listen, I don't have any meetings today so I was thinking of bringing you to the doctor so they can check you out." he said.
"No honey. You don't have to do that. I'll just go to the pharmacy and buy a pregnancy test. If it's positive, then we can go to the doctor." she said.
Leonard nodded. "Okay, it's just that I'm kinda excited about this." he said as he held her hand. "What about you?" he asked.
"Well, I am kinda excited too." she said as they finished eating breakfast.
"Don't worry honey, I'm sure you'll be fine." he said as they started to clean up in the kitchen so Penny can go to her work at the restaurant and Leonard to his office.

Later in the afternoon, Leonard arrived at the house and saw Penny sitting on the couch, watching TV as Buster sat beside her. He put his bag on his desk and went straight to sit beside his wife.
"Hi honey! How are you feeling today?" he asked kissing her cheek. Penny held the dog to calm him down when he immediately stood up and growled at Leonard.
"Here." she said giving Leonard the pregnancy test stick. Leonard looked at it and saw two lines which meant positive.
"Wow! This is amazing honey! I'm so happy!" he said as he hugged her tight making Buster growl even more. "We'll go to the doctor tomorrow just to be sure alright?" he said kissing her lips. "I love you so much." he added.
"Honey I'm worried." she said resting her face on his shoulder.
"What are you worried about?' he asked.
"I don't know." she said.
"Okay, I've been reading up on pregnancy all day and it says that your hormones are expected to act up which will make you emotional and a little cranky, even a little horny which I love the most." he said smiling at her.
"Leonard, I'm gonna get fat. What if you won't love me anymore?" she asked crying on his shoulder.
"That's ridiculous Penny. I'll always love you no matter what." he said reassuring her.
"Really?" she asked.
"Really!" he said. "Wanna have sex?" he asked, smiling at her.
Penny hung her head and sighed. "Again?" she said slightly amused by her husband.
"Well I'm a scientist and I want to find out if that hormones thing is true or not?" he said teasing her.
Penny took a deep breath and stood up, pulling him to the bedroom. "Come on jackass!" she said.
Leonard gave her a salute. "Yes ma'am!" he said, scooping her up and carrying her to the bedroom. Penny laughed and held tightly to him as he laid her on the bed before slamming the door shut.

They laid on the bed exhausted and smiling, entangled in their loving embrace and facing each other.
"Honey?" said Leonard.
"Hmmm?" said Penny.
"How are you feeling now?" he asked smiling.
Penny pushed her face on his neck. "Happy." Penny said. "But I might feel lonely again later." she smiled as she touched his face.
Leonard pulled her close and kissed her passionately. "Don't worry, I know how to fix that." he said.
"I'm hungry Leonard." she said. Leonard quickly stood up and get dressed.
"I'll make something so you and our baby could eat." he said making Penny smile. Leonard went out the bedroom and walked straight to the kitchen to make dinner. Penny followed a few minutes after going straight to the bathroom to freshen up.
After dinner, they decided to sit outside the house to look at the night sky. Leonard took a bottle of beer with him which annoyed Penny since she cannot consume any alcohol.
"I'm sorry honey." He said.
"You did this to me you jackass!" She said glaring at him.
"Now you're blaming me?" he said.
"So it's my fault now?" she yelled at him.
Leonard raised his hands. "You're right honey, I did this to you and I'm sorry." he smiled at her.
"I can't drink wine, I can't drink coffee, I will get fat and cranky. This is all your fault!" she yelled.
Leonard pulled her close and kissed her. "Relax honey, this baby is a blessing to us." Leonard said as Penny leaned on him. "Okay how about this, I'll drink all the beer and wine we have in the house and we won't buy anymore up until after you give birth and it's okay for you to have a drink again. How about that?" he said smiling at her.
"Really? You'd do that for me?" she asked.
"Of course. We're a team and to be honest, I'm not really a big drinker." he said.
Penny leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Thank you honey. You're really great." she said.
"Anything for you and the baby." he said.
"What are we gonna name the baby?" she asked.
"We have plenty of time for that. For now, let's just focus on you and the baby's health alright?" he said.
"Okay." she said. "I love you." she added.
Leonard tightened his arm around her. "Honey, I love you more now that you're having our baby! I mean, I'm going to be a father! How awesome is that!?" he exclaimed making Penny laugh.
They decided to go to bed after an hour of sitting outside the house when Penny felt sleepy. They laid on the bed and kissed each other goodnight as they got under the covers to get some sleep.

The next day, the couple went to the doctor to have Penny's checkup and confirm if she's really pregnant or not.
"Well congratulations Mrs. Hofstadter! It's confirmed. You are pregnant." said Dr. O'Brien as Penny held Leonard's hand while they sat inside the doctor's office.
"What do we do next?" Penny asked.
"Well, you need to come here at least once a month for your regular checkup. And you have to avoid getting stressed like lifting heavy stuff or working long hours. And I'll give you a list of foods to avoid and a prescription of multivitamins for you and your baby." said Dr. O'Brien. "It will also be normal for you to get irritable and cranky due to hormone imbalance which is perfectly normal." Dr. O'Brien said.
"Thank you doctor." Said Leonard.
"No problem." said the doctor. "Just eat lots of fruits and vegetables and you'll be fine. Do you have any questions?" she asked.
"Uh yeah, is it okay for me to continue working at the restaurant?" asked Penny.
"It's alright for you to work as long as you don't tire yourself out. No lifting heavy stuff. Maybe you can request the restaurant to give you cashier duty or as receptionist so you won't have to carry food all the time?" said Dr. O'Brien.
Penny nodded. "Okay, got it." she said.
"Is there anything else?" Dr. O'Brien asked. "Okay I think we're done here and don't think about it too much, you should be happy for this blessing. The stress won't be good for the baby." She said.
The couple left the doctor's clinic and went straight home for Penny to rest while they still process the new phase in their lives.
"Do you want something to eat?" Leonard asked as Penny sat on the couch, putting her feet on the coffee table.
"No. I just need you here with me." she said. Leonard sat beside her, putting his arms around his wife to reassure her. Penny curled up her legs and leaned on her husband, feeling his warmth.
"Don't worry honey, you two are the most important people in the world to me right now. And I can already see that our baby would get your good looks. Add my big brain and you get the best of both worlds right?" he said smiling at her.
"I guess." she said taking a deep breath. "Honey?" she said.
"Hmmm?" Leonard muttered.
"Now I know why Buster was acting up when he's around me. I think he could sense that there was something different about me." Penny said.
"You're right. Boy that dog is really something huh?" he said laughing. "He knew that my baby was inside you, that's why he kept acting crazy when I'm near you." he said. "Maybe he can smell your hormone imbalance or something." he said.
"That would also explain why I seem to want to have sex all the time." she said.
"That one I love the most." he said laughing.
"Honey?" she said.
"Yes." Said Leonard.
"What about your theory?" asked Penny.
"Don't worry about it. My priority right now is you and our baby." he said kissing his wife. "The theory can wait." he added.
"You are so amazing!" she said kissing him back. "Now why don't we do something about these hormone imbalance huh!?" she smiled as she pulled him into the bedroom.
