Review replies (from the Nine Lives challenge):

succulentsofa: Thank you so much! Your review made my day :) and yeah, the name Flamehawk is pretty cool.

dragonbreathjr: Thank you! And ahahaha, Phoenix isn't me. I just gave her that name cause...well, I have my reasons. And Yes! It is Autumn! I might've talked about Oceanus once or twice on the forum, that's probably why he seems familiar. And the backstory is...I'm working on it. Thanks again!

Spirit was excited for whatever game she and her friends were going to play tonight. Every Friday night they would all gather at one person's house and play a game. Last week it was Ghosts in the Graveyard and the week before it was Truth or Dare. Usually, whoever was hosting got to choose the game. But this week, Skylar had said that she had a good idea, even though it was being hosted at Spirit and Brenden's house.

Spirit was honestly fine with that, since she hadn't been able to think of a good game idea anyways.

"Spirit!" She suddenly heard her twin brother, Brenden, shout.

"Yeah?" She asked, coming out of her bedroom quickly and closing the door behind her.

"They're here!"

Spirit smiled and immediately ran out of the hallway and over to the front door of the house, opening it and giving her friends a wide grin. "Hey!" She exclaimed, rushing forward to give Skylar a hug. She couldn't help but gaze into her pretty blue eyes…

Back to what's important, Trixie and Leah then pulled up to the house, getting out of their car and heading towards the front door. Spirit thought she would break her face from how much she was smiling.

She was so happy to see her friends again. It had only been a week since they last talked face-to-face but it felt like a lifetime.

"I'm so happy to see you guys!" Spirit smiled, giving Liam a fist bump and Trixie a high-five.

"I'm glad too," Skylar smiled, her blue eyes shining.

Spirit gazed into them for a moment before turning around and walking back into the house, gesturing for her friends to follow her. She was too busy thinking about Skylar's pretty eyes to notice that Joel hadn't shown up. Yet.

Spirit sat down on the couch, waiting for her friends to join her before speaking. "So what was your idea?" She inquired, facing Skylar.

"You'll see when we get outside." Skylar smirked. "For now, I'll need a flashlight and you guys will need some serious self-control."

Leah's eyes narrowed. "Is this what I think it is?" She asked, her brow furrowed as she thought hard about what Skylar's idea could be.

"I don't know, what do you think it is?" Skylar asked, resting her elbow on her knee and then resting her chin on her hand while smirking.

Leah sighed and shrugged. "I'm not sure."

Spirit knew exactly what it was but she didn't want to reveal the secret. If I do, Skylar might get mad at me for ruining the surprise, and nobody wants that.

"Hey, has anybody noticed that Joel isn't here?" Ben suddenly asked, looking around the room.

"Yeah...I wonder where he is…" Liam mused.

"Oh, he texted me and told me that he isn't feeling the greatest tonight so he won't be coming." Trixie said. Spirit could tell that she was holding back a smile but didn't think much of it. She was busy staring at Skylar's eyes again…

"Spirit," someone suddenly said and she snapped back to attention.

"Wha-?" She mumbled stupidly. She looked over at Brenden, who rolled his eyes.

"So, are we ready to go?" Ben asked, looking around at everyone. Spirit, along with everyone else except Brenden, who was staring at Ben (Spirit would tease him about that later), nodded.

"Alright then," Skylar said and stood up, heading towards the door that led to the backyard. Spirit followed close behind the platinum-blonde haired girl, blushing a little when she accidentally touched her hand.

It was clear that Spirit had a huge crush on her.

Back to the subject, Spirit and the rest of the group walked outside. It was dark, and cold out, but hopefully if they moved enough they'd get warm soon.

"So!" Skylar said loudly, standing in front of everyone else with a flashlight in her right hand. "Tonight, we are playing Night at the Museum."

"YES!" Leah shouted, doing a fist-pump in the air. "I love that game!"

"I can tell," Liam mused.

Skylar cleared her throat. "May I continue?" She asked, raising a brow at Leah, who nodded sheepishly.

"Yeah...sorry…" She muttered.

Skylar nodded a little and turned back to the rest of the group. "I'll be the Night Guard first. I'm just going off on a limb here and assuming that everyone knows how to play."

"If they didnt, I'd be a bit worried." Trixie muttered. "You ranted about it for hours about a month ago."

Skylar opened her mouth as if she was about to say something but then closed it again, nodding.

"She's got a point," Ben murmured.

"Moving on!" Skylar said loudly and Spirit chuckled a little. "Stay in place for now."

Spirit watched as Skylar walked towards the fence until she was almost touching it, and then turned around so she was facing the group again.

"We will begin in three...two...ONE!" Skylar turned around so she was facing away from the group and everyone started to make a run for it, dashing across the long lawn to get to Skylar first. Suddenly, she whipped around without warning and Spirit froze, trying not to laugh when she realized what a funny position she was in. Liam stopped running a little too late and Skylar shined her flashlight on him.

"Liam...you moved...go back to the start…" Skylar ordered him and Liam groaned, turning around and trudging back to the other side of the yard. Spirit smirked a little when she realized that she was closest to Skylar.

I hope I win...then I get bragging rights…

Bragging rights were the best kind of prize on Earth.

That and chocolate.

Skylar turned around again and Spirit dashed towards her, reaching her hand out to touch her shoulder.

So...close…

Then Skylar turned around and Spirit froze. But, unfortunately, she was in a very hard position to hold, with one foot on the ground and the other raised in the air, ready to run forward. She fellt, and Skylar shined the flashlight on her.

"Sorry, but you lose." She said, helping Spirit to her feet. Spirit blushed when they held hands for a moment, but then let go and walked slowly back to the other side of the yard.

Brenden won that round.

After a few more rounds of the game, it was pitch black, nothing shining in the sky but the moon, stars, and the flashlight. Spirit hadn't won at all tonight, and was getting frustrated. She really wanted to impress Skylar...and get bragging rights...and possibly chocolate…

The fifth round was about to start and Spirit was standing next to Trixie. Leah was at the other end of the yard, holding the flashlight up, a grin on her face. Spirit was staring into Skylar's eyes again and noticed how smug she looked. Smug, but pretty.

Spirit diverted her gaze away from Skylar when she thought that she saw a shadow moving through the bushes.

Eh...it's probably just a rabbit or something…

Spirit saw Leah suddenly turn around, her back facing the group, and she took off running through the grass, trying to reach her first.

Leah stayed still for quite a while and Spirit was about to touch her should when…

A figured jumped out from the bushes, letting out a loud shriek. Almost everyone, including Spirit, screamed.

"Oh yeah, I'm f***ing Santa Claus!" The person shouted. Leah shined the flashlight on the figure and Spirit realized that it was Joel. He and Skylar were laughing their heads off. Spirit felt her face get hot and realized that she must be blushing.

"Joel!" She shouted, furious.

"Yes ma'am?" Joel asked, a smirk on his face. Spirit, and everyone except for Skylar, glared at him.

"Why did you do that?!" Ben shouted angrily.

"Because I wanted to," Joel shrugged, still smirking. Spirit felt a pang of jealousy as Skylar walked over to their friend and gave him a fist-bump.

"We've been planning this all week!" Skylar chuckled. "There was a reason why I chose a game that takes place in darkness…"

Spirit sighed. She couldn't stay mad at Skylar or Joel for long. "Shall we continue our game?" She suggested.

"Nah, I'm hungry." Leah shook her head.

"Oooh, maybe we could have a movie night!" Trixie exclaimed. Everyone nodded and smiled.

"That sounds nice," Brenden said. "Let's go."

The group headed inside, almost everyone shooting Joel a glare, who just shrugged.
