Chapter 10: That's All The Truth I Know
...
The Following is a non-profit fan-made rewrite of Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire is owned by HBO and George R. R. Martin. Please support the official release of the novels and the first four season of the show. The official writing by George R. R. Martin will obviously be much better.
Author's Notes: Woo, well, that took much long that I expected. Sorry for the wait everyone, but between new babies, computer problems, visiting familes, church opening back up, and the realese of season 2 of The Boys, it has been a little busy for me. Plus this chapter had to go threw a bunch of rewrites and cuts before I was happy with it. To give you an idea, Stannis taking Storm's End was ment to be in the next chapter and Robb meeting with the brotherhood over The Hound was suppost to be in this chapter, but due to some story issues, I had to switch it. But, I am finally have with where I ended up, so here we are. Longest chapter yet btw (9,464 words before Author's Notes). Sorry if the chapter seems a little packed. I almost split into two chapter, but I have an outline for the chapter placement and (at least for now) I am sticking to it. Also, at the same time I am relasing this chapter, I will be realsing updates all pervious chapters in some way. Specifically, I've added an extra beat in chapter 2 (or chapter 4 as the website counts it). Enjoy. "And Here... we... go".

(King's Landing, The Red Keep)
...
After they lost the assassin in the forests, Ser Greenfield and Joffrey's other guards tolerated no delay while bring his body back to King's Landing and The Red Keep. Once there however, they debated who would tell Lord Tywin. Eventually they convinced Ser Greenfield himself to be the bearer of bad news while the rest of them held back and prayed for mercy.
Once Lord Tywin was informed, he seemed surprisingly claim, and that terrified Ser Greenfield. Once Ser Greenfield lead Tywin to Joffrey's body, Tywin commanded the other guards to bring Tyrion, Varys, Littlefinger, and Ser Meryn as well as several Goldcloaks to Joffrey's body.
"Look at him" Tywin said. "Everyone of you has in some way contributed to this. In my eyes every single one of you is a failure. LOOK AT HIM! I want each of you to remember this". He crossed over to the guards and Ser Greenfield in particular. "Did you catch the assassin"?
"No My Lord. The men and I did our best, but we lost him in the forest" Ser Greenfield said, still terrified.
"Pity" Tywin said completely unfazed.
"We really did our best My Lord. five of them and myself chased after him" Ser Greenfield said.
"And the other four?" Tywin asked.
"They were retrieving his body My Lord" Ser Greenfield said.
"And which four were these?" Tywin asked. Ser Greenfield pointed to each of the four who retrieved Joffrey's body and Tywin had the four of them stand off to the side then began speaking with one of them. "Now, what happened"?
"The King was hunting and we were protecting him My Lord. We came before a Gully and he saw some starving wolfs. As he took aim his cross bow, one of the men stop him and said he had a message for The King" the guard said, also terrified.
"And what was this message?" Tywin asked.
"All he said was that the message was from Arya Stark. Then he threw the dart into The King's neck" the guard said.
"Arya Stark?" Tywin asked.
"Aye My Lord. Then Joffrey's body fell into the gully" the guard said.
"Do you have this dart?" Tywin asked.
"Right here My Lord" the guard on the far left said. He handed it to Tywin and Tywin smelt it.
"Wolfsbane" Tywin said. "Alright, I suppose there is nothing you could have done". They all breathed a sigh of relief. "Then would one of you mind telling why ALL THE FINGERS ON HIS RIGHT HAND AND HIS NOSE ARE MISSING" Tywin shouted. The four were terrified and the others backed away.
"Th... Th... Th... the wolfs My Lord. They bit them off" said the terrified front guard said.
"Which if Arya Stark really did send the assassin, that would make that pretty ironic" one of the other five guard said. Everyone stood in silence for a moment at that. Then Lord Tywin took the dagger of the man he had been talking to right out of its sheath, turn and rush to the man who just spoke, and slit the man's throat. "Gah... Gww... Gww..." the man fell over dead.
"Ser Meryn" Tywin said.
"Yes... Yes My Lord" Ser Meryn said, trying to hide his obvious fear.
"I've decide to give you a second chance" Tywin said.
"Thank you My Lord!" Ser Meryn said with all enthusiasm of having heard the best news of his life.
"But you need to perform two tasks for me. Fail either, and I will kill you slowly" Tywin said.
"I promise I won't fail you again My Lord. Ask me for anything" Ser Meryn said with caution.
"Second, protect King Tommen with your very life. Don't let anyone near him until we are sure he is safe from any further assassination attempts" Tywin said.
"Yes sir My Lord. But what is the first task?" Ser Meryn asked a bit confused.
"The first task is for you and the Goldcloaks to arrest Ser Greenfield and these four others" Tywin said pointing to the ones who failed to catch the assassin. Immediately the Goldcloaks were on the four while Ser Meryn was upon Ser Greenfield.
"But My Lord! We've done nothing!" Ser Greenfield said in desperate fear.
"Exactly. You failed to catch the assassin. And thus King Tommen is still in danger. If six men failed to catch him, that means there is a terrible risk that one of you assisted the assassin. Maybe all of you are traitors. Maybe only two of you are traitors. Maybe none of you are traitors. But am I willing to take that chance on otherwise incompetent guards?" Tywin asked rhetorically. He then goes the restrained Ser Greenfields ear and whispers "no". "Take them away. Hang those four. Cut out Ser Greenfield's tongue and make preparations for the chop" he said to everyone.
"MY LORD... PLEASE... HAVE MERCY" Ser Greenfield shouted as he and the other men were dragged away.
"Give Ilyn Payne my regards Ser Meryn" Tywin said.
"Yes My Lord" Ser Meryn quickly called back before he was out of earshot.
"You four. I've decide to let you live, but under some conditions. Report to Ser Boros. Leave your names with him. If any of you tries to leave King's Landing until I allow it, I will have all four of you killed and your heads delivered to your families. Do I make myself clear?" Tywin asked.
"Yes My Lord. Thank you My Lord" the front man said. The other three agree.
"Good. Dismissed" Tywin said. And the four men hurried away, fallow by a couple my Goldcloaks to make sure they did indeed leave their names. Tywin then walked to Lord Varys and Littlefinger. "You two have continued to fail me. I won't tolerate it any longer. Understand".
"Yes My Lord" Varys said.
"Yes My Lord" Littlefinger said.
"Good, now get out" Tywin said. And with that, they hurried out, leaving only Tyrion and Tywin alone with Joffrey's body.
"And then there were two" Tyrion joked with a grin.
"Our family is dwindling and you joke" Tywin said fuming.
"What better time" Tyrion joked again. Seeing Tywin's anger, Tyrion wiped the grin off his face and considered his next words carefully. "Do you think Arya Stark really sent that assassin"?
"Considering Cersei was assassinated as well and that Joffrey and her are responsible for dear old Ned Stark losing his head, yes I do. Unlike you, some people value the lives of their families" Tywin said.
"I do so value the lives of my families. Just not Joffrey's" Tyrion said, his grin returning. Then Tywin walked up close to Tyrion and stared down at him. Tyrion's grin was once again gone. Tywin then slapped Tyrion's face. Afterward, Tyrion turned back to Tywin and stared him right in the eyes.
"Jamie is still missing, which means my legacy current consists of Myrcella, Tommen, and, unfortunately, you. You will not ruin it before Jaime returns. Your a Lannister, conduct yourself like one. This family will require you to if it is to survive" Tywin said. Once he finished, Tywin left.
"Well nephew, at least we look more alike now" Tyrion said giggling to himself. He then left.

(Dragonstone, Beaches)
...
"You understand your orders Matthos?" King Stannis Baratheon asked the young man stand at the shore while the ships only a couple hundred feet away were being prepped for the voyage to Storm's End.
"Yes Your Grace" Matthos said.
"Then what are they?" Stannis asked.
"Row Lady Melisandre to a private shore of Storm's End, row her to safety, never speak of what happens ever again" Matthos said like a good little soldier.
"Good lad. Off you go" Stannis said.
"Yes Your Grace" Matthos said. And with that, the young Seaworth made his way to the ship that currently housed Melisandre. As he did, Stannis looked down the beaches. They were covered with men preparing for the battle ahead, both themselves and the ships. As Stannis watched them, thought about how he had expected the war to be over by now. Instead, his vastly diminished amount of men were to set sail yet again. In leaving behind what they loved yet again, their dedication honored the king. And yet, it made him think about what he was leaving behind. While no one would be able to tell, his heart ached parting from her again. He thought about how long it had been since he had seen her. He hadn't since Maester Cressen had died. 'How long had that been?' Stannis thought 'Months? A Year?'. The thought that he hadn't seen her for so long set his heart a blaze. He had to see her, before he left again he had to see her.

(Craster's Keep)
...
Back at Craster's Keep a certain over weight Tarly plans to save a girl and her child.
"Grenn. Come over here. I need to talk to you, in private" Sam said. Grenn looked over at Sam.
"No offense Sam, but I'm not into boys. HAHAHAHAHA" Grenn laughed, as a few near by Night's Watch brothers.
"I'm serious" Sam said unamused.
"Fine, fine" Grenn said, still in a good mood. And so he followed Sam to where no one could hear them. "Alright Sam. What is it"?
"I need your help" Sam said.
"With what?" Grenn asked.
"I gonna kill Craster" Sam said.
"And you get your undergarments in a bunch when I joke" Grenn said.
"I'm not joking" Sam said. Grenn realized that he wasn't and then quickly looked around as the smile vanished from his face.
"Then you've gone mad" Grenn said. He began to step away, but Sam grabbed his arm.
"Please Grenn, I can't do it without help" Sam said.
"Why would I help you?" Grenn asked turning back to Sam and swatting away his hand.
"Because it's the right thing to do" Sam said.
"Ha" Grenn said.
"I'm serious. You heard Jon, Craster is killing the boys. Gilly's baby might not even last the night" Sam said.
"So that is what this about. Your wildling girlfriend" Grenn said.
"It's not like that. And even if it is, it's still the right thing to do" Sam said.
"I not dying so you can wet your beak" Grenn said.
"You won't. All you need to do is provoke Craster into coming at you. I'll be standing next to you, so when he gets close I'll jam this in his neck" Sam said while pulling out a dagger.
"Your asking me to violate guest right" Grenn said.
"Oh come on Grenn. That man gives us scraps and makes us shovel pig shit while he hoards his food and rapes his daughters. He is the one violating guest right. And if he comes at you, he'll be violating it even more" Sam said while sheathing his dagger.
"Point taken. Even so, Mormont won't like it" Grenn said.
"To hell with Commander Mormont. He's the reason Craster keeps getting away with it. He can't keep getting away with it" Sam said. Grenn stood there a moment.
"Give me some time to think" Grenn said.
"Fine, but Grenn... we don't have much time" Sam said. The two then walked back.
...
(The Red Keep, The Gardens)
...
Lady Margaery, Lady Olenna, and Ser Loras sat in silence. They had heard people talk of trouble at The Red Keep and some of the men had talk about Joffrey's death, but it still seemed to be a rumor. And so they waited for someone to confirm this news, for should it be true, they will need new plans. Fortunately, they wouldn't have to wait long, for Lord Tyrion came to end their suffering of silence. Margaery and Loras rose from their chairs.
"Lord Tyrion" Loras said.
"Ser Loras, ladies" Tyrion said.
"Is it true? Is Joffrey dead?" Margaery asked.
"Strait to the point. Perhaps you will make a good queen after all" Tyrion said, his grin back yet again.
"This isn't the time for jokes My Lord" Loras said.
"Curious, my father said the same thing. I'd never thought I'd hear you agree with him on anything" Tyrion said.
"My Lord" Margaery said getting impatient.
"Forgive me My Lady. I only mean to break this dreadful tension. In regards to my father, the incident has given him much work to do, so it fall to me to deliver the message" Tyrion said wearing a much more serious face.
"So it is true then?" Margaery asked.
"It is, Joffrey is dead" Tyrion said. Margaery sat back down, clearly needing to think.
"I am sorry My Lord, allow me to offer our sincerest condolences" Loras said.
"Oh please Loras, save your breath. Can't you see he's the one who did it" Olenna said. Loras and Margaery turned to Olenna and, along with Tyrion, stared at her.
"Excuse me?" Tyrion asked.
"Isn't it obvious. The new master of coin is overwhelmed by his new position, what with the royal wedding on the horizon and all. So he has the king assassinated to get the wedding canceled" Olenna said. Margaery and Loras looked at her for a moment then back to Tyrion. Tyrion's grin had returned yet again and bigger than ever. He looked at the ground, trying his very hardest not to crack up at Olenna's accusation. After he was sure he could speak without giggling, he turned his head back up to the family of Tyrells.
"As sound as that logic is, I'm afraid I can't take credit for it. The assassin was sent by Arya Stark" Tyrion said.
"Sansa's sister?" Margaery asked.
"Is there another Arya Stark?" Tyrion asked, laying on the sarcasm thick.
"She was presumed dead" Loras said.
"Aye, she was. Now she's not. What a world" Tyrion joked. He then turned to Margaery. "Indeed, it's the younger Stark girl you have to blame... Or thank... For your current situation" Tyrion said while winking. "Now I've heard you've become rather close to dear Sansa. I shall leave it to you to deliver the news. As for me, I must relax. Good to you". And with that Tyrion turned to leave.
"Wait Lord Tyrion" Margaery call out. Tyrion turned back. "What about the wedding"?
"Well you can ask him, but I don't think Joffrey's heart is for it anymore" Tyrion said. By the looks on their faces, Margaery and Loras were unamused. "Don't despair My Lady. We promised you'd marry a king, and a Lannister always pays their debts". Then Tyrion really took his leave.
"Yes, that is why assassins killed two of them. Because they pay their debts. Still, the young Stark has done us quite the service" Olenna said. Her grandchildren turned to her again.
"A service?" Loras asked confused.
"Of course. Your sister no longer must marry that beast and there will be no law punishing those of Renly's... persuasion by death" Olenna said. She rose and took Loras hand as she finished. She smiled at him and Loras smiled back. She then turned to Margaery. "And in case you missed it in that nonsense, the Lannister's will marry to Tommen. You will be queen yet".
"I am to marry Tommen?" Margaery asked.
"Of course. And with the boy's wicked witch of a mother plotting to boil you, you'll have him wrapped around your little finger" Olenna said.
"Besides, Tommen is known as the kindest boy in the seven kingdoms. Perhaps you will be happy together" Loras added.
"Perhaps we will be" Margaery said with a slight smile appearing on her face.
"Unfortunately, with all this commotion about, you won't be getting to see your betrothed for some time. And the wedding will be even further away. You'll have to occupy yourself or the boredom might just cause you to recreate the witches demise without needing to be pushed" Olenna said.
"To that end, I think I will visit Sansa like Lord Tyrion said to" Margaery said.
"Right, off you go" Olenna said. Margaery rose and walked over to kiss Olenna's cheek before leaving.
"I must be going too. All this sitting around all day has given me an urge to get back to training" Loras said.
"You and your urges to roll around in the dirt stabbing the other boys all" Olenna said. Loras rolled his eyes then kissed Olenna's cheek and hurried off just as Margaery had done.

(Dragonstone, The Queen's Room)
...
Queen Selyse Baratheon had been praying in her room. In truth, there was very little time Selyse didn't spend praying to R'hllor, to The Lord of Light. Before the war, she prayed for Stannis to convert. She prayed for Stannis to become a dedicated servant to R'hllor. Before that she prayed for Stannis to show her dedication. To show her affection. Now she just prayed that Stannis would win his war soon, for her bed has grow awfully cold without him to warm it. For a moment, it felt as though she received an answer to her prayers, for Stannis entered her room.
"My love" Selyse said as she rushed to the king's side. "I thought you were preparing to leave".
"There is still time" Stannis said.
"Time for us?" Selyse asked. "I haven't seen you since you've returned".
"Forgive me. This war is a drain on more than just resources" Stannis said
"No forgiveness needed. I wished so much for you to return to me and here you are. My love, do me the honor of sharing my bed" Selyse said while pulling Stannis' hand.
"I can not" Stannis said.
"Please My Love. It has been so long since I've felt the warmth of your touch" Selyse said. Stannis eyed her, and the bed. Then his eyes returned to her.
"There is something you must know" Stannis said.
"What is it My Love?" Selyse asked.
"I've broken my vows and dishonored you. I've laid with the Lady Melisandre. I beg your forgiveness" Stannis said. Her prepared for her hatred. He was shocked, for it never came.
"I know" Selyse said.
"You know?" Stannis asked, a little confused.
Melisandre has told me. I am not angry. Rather, I am overjoyed. She has only given you what I never could. She's given you sons. She's given the power to destroy your enemies. I praise R'hllor's name for delivering Melisandre unto you" Selyse said, still smiling.
"Even so, I still broke my vow to you. Worse, I broke my vow to you to break my vow to my parents" Stannis said. As he spoke, he turned from his queen. He looked away and down in shame.
"I am sorry about Renly" Selyse said as her voice changed to one much more warm and tender. "More sorry that you can ever know". A memory flashed through Stannis' head.
...
"A man should never refuse to taste a peach. He may never get the chance again".
...
"You weren't the one who killed him" Stannis said, feeling completely alone.
"You bare so many burdens. Please, let me carry them with you" Selyse said. Then she kissed Stannis' neck. Stannis very nearly swatted her.
"Away woman" Stannis said, sound a bit irritated.
"If didn't come to rekindle what little we had, then why come at all" Selyse said with a hint of anger and a hint of sadness while crossing over to the other side of the room. Stannis just stood there, standing in silence. Neither could bring themselves to look at the other.
"Where is she? Where is ours daughter?" Stannis asked, breaking the silence.
"She is up in the tower. She spent most of her time up there since Maester Cressen's death" Selyse said.
"Has she been crying?" Stannis asked, already knowing the answer.
I tried to comfort her, I tried telling her of R'hllor's will. But she wouldn't listen. She actually wanted to be locked away from everyone for once" Selyse said.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there" Stannis said. He opened the door to take his leave.
"She is just like you, showing no concern for me" Selyse said. This made Stannis freeze in his tracks for a moment. Then he exited, shutting the door behind himself. Selyse kneeled back down. In spite of how hurt she was, she prayed for Stannis to return safely. As Stannis walked the halls of Dragonstone, he could only think of poor Maester Cressen. He did his best to focus on the war when it happened. The knowledge of what it has been costing him only made him need to see her even more.

(Craster's Keep)
...
At Craster's Keep, a funeral was being held. The brothers of The Night's watch made a pyre for one of their own.
"His name was Bannen. He was a good man, a good ranger. He came to us from White Harbor. Never failed in his duty. He kept his vows the best he could. He rode far, fought fiercely. We shall never see his like again" Lord Commander Jeor Mormont said.
"And now his watch has ended" the rest of the men said all at once.
"And now his watch has ended" Commander Mormont said. Mormot then took his leave.
"Didn't think a broke foot could kill a man" Grenn said.
"It wasn't his foot that killed him. That bastard Craster starved him to death" Rast the Ranger said. At that, Grenn turned his head. First to Rast, then to the near by Samwell Tarly, whom was already staring at him. As Grenn stared back, he gave Samwell a quick nod. Samwell nodded back.

(The Red Keep, Sansa's room)
...
Sansa keeled down in prayer to The Old Gods. She hoped and prayed that the news was true. She rose as she heard her door open. It was Margaery. Here it is, now she would know. Could it be true? Could her nightmare finally be over?
"Is it true, is what they are saying true?" Sansa asked, curbing her hopes. Margaery closed the door behind her. There was a pause.
"It's true. Joffrey is dead" Margaery said. Sansa's face began to curve into a smile. It was small at first, then it grew. Tears began to flow from her eyes. It was the greatest relief she ever felt. For the time being, her suffering was finally over. The monster who killed her father was dead. She crossed over to Margaery and hugged her tightly. She weeped on to Margaery shoulder. Somehow, Sansa pulled herself together and released the future queen. She then went to the wine and poured the wine into a glass, filling the cup near to the edge. She drank almost the whole glass at once. Finally she spoke.
"It's over. It's finally over. The monsters betrayed my father are gone" Sansa said.
"Yes, Cersei and Joffrey will never torment you again" Margaery said. Sansa snapped out of her high.
"I am so sorry. This must change everything for you" Sansa said sincerely.
"It has, but it is truly fine. Frankly, I am happy your safe" Margaery said.
"Thank you. What will happen with the wedding now?" Sansa asked.
"Lord Tyrion believes that Lord Tywin will marry me to Tommen. After all, they promised to marry me to the king, and Tommen is now king" Margaery said.
"That is wonderful news. I'm sure you will be very happy" Sansa said.
"Thank you... Sansa, there is something you should know. The assassin who kill Joffrey, he was sent by Arya" Margaery said. Sansa froze. For a minute, all Sansa could do was look Margaery strait in the eyes.
"...Arya?" Sansa finally asked, her face being one not sure what to think.
"I am told that is what the assassin said, yes" Margaery said.
"He could have been lying" Sansa said.
"Assassins come to King's Landing and kill Cersei and Joffrey is quick succession of each other. Who has every reason to want them both dead?" Margaery asked. And with that, Sansa walked to her bed and sat down.
"I thought she was dead" Sansa said.
"Who didn't" Margaery said as she right next to Sansa.
"My whole life, all we ever did was fight. And she would always play pranks on me, it was annoying. I never thought I'd grow to miss it, or her" Sansa said. Margaery put her hand on Sansa's shoulder.
"She is still out there Sansa. You may still see her again" Margaery said.
"If the Lannister's don't kill her first" Sansa said.
"When I am queen, I shall protect your sister" Margaery said. A smile return to Sansa's face as she turn to look Margaery in the eyes.
"Thank you. You've been so kind to me. Still, I wish I knew where she is" Sansa said.
...
(Dragonstone, The Princess' Room in the High Tower)
...
Stannis had reached the door to the room of Princess Shireen Baratheon, his daughter. He could hear her singing. It brought a small smile to his face.
"Shireen" Stannis said opening the door.
"Father!" Shireen said. She leaped from her bed and gave Stannis a hug. Stannis rubbed her head. Then she looked at him. It had been so long since the Greyscale had taken half her face, and it still broke his heart every time he saw it.
"You've grown since I last saw you" Stannis said.
"Well, it has been sometime" Shireen joked. Unfortunately, that bit at Stannis, his smile disappeared. He released her then got down on one knee.
"Forgive me child. I been failing in my duties as a father, leaving you alone for so long" Stannis said.
"It's okay, I understand" Shireen said.
"How could you child?" Stannis asked.
"Mother told me you were fighting a war to save the realm" Shireen said.
"Still, I wasn't there when you need me. I'm sorry you attended Maester Cressen's funeral alone, you must have been so sad" Stannis said.
"Are you sad?" Shireen asked.
"About what child?" Stannis asked.
"About Uncle Renly. Mother told me he die" Shireen said. The memory again flashed in Stannis' head
...
"A man should never refuse to taste a peach. He may never get the chance again".
...
"She should not have told you that" Stannis said while looking at the ground and clenching his fist.
"I'm sorry father" Shireen said, worried she angered him.
"Don't be child" Stannis said, returning to looking Shireen in the eyes and trying to speak in a soft voice. "Yes, I am sad". Shireen then hugged him again. Stannis ran his fingers through her hair and kissed the side of her head. She released him.
"What happened to Uncle Renly?" Shireen asked. Stannis hesitated.
"... Uncle Renly... died to madness. The people told him he should be king instead of me. He listened to their madness and became mad himself. That madness lead him to his doom. Doom in the shape of a knife to his heart" Stannis said. Shireen stood there, silence thinking about this.
"Was Maester Cressen mad too?" Shireen finally asked.
"In a way. Maester Cressen loved me just like he loved. Even taught me to read just like he did for you" Stannis said. Shireen smiled at this. "But that love drove him to fear the Lady Melisandre". Stannis stopped for a moment and thought about his next words. "When he drank poison wine an assassin had meant for Melisandre, she tried to save his life, but he wouldn't accept help from her".
"Why did he fear Melisandre?" Shireen asked.
"Because she worships the Lord of Light. He feared that she would corrupt my heart. But he was mistaken. Neither you nor I have anything to fear from this supposed Lord of Light or his follower. Which is why you need to forgive your mother. As misguided as it was, she was only trying comfort you when she told you it was his will" Stannis said. Shireen turned her eyes to the side of her head. She wanted change the subject.
"The onion knight hasn't come to visit me. Did he survive your battle?" Shireen asked. Stannis clenched his fist again. He didn't wish to discuss a traitor. Then he thought Renly and Cressen were traitors too. He didn't know why bothered to protect their memory.
"He did. And he fought bravely. But he won't be visiting child" Stannis said.
"But he's my friend" Shireen said.
"Ser Davos tried to kill Melisandre. He betrayed me. So he is rotting in a cell for his crime. Best forget him child" Stannis said. Disappointment and sadness came over the Princess' face. "I shouldn't be here? I have a war to fight and a battle to ready for". Stannis turned and opened the door.
"Wait father, when will you return?" Shireen asked. Stannis didn't stop to answer her, nor did answer her at all. He simply walked out the door and shut it behind him, leaving Shireen alone. She opens one of her draws and pulls out a hand carved wooden ship Ser Davos had made for her. She held the ship close to her. Then she saw a book on her table and it gave her an idea. She would bring it to Ser Davos so he would have something to do in his cell. When she went to him later that day, she learn he didn't know how to read so she began to teach him.

(Craster's Keep)
...
In the main house of Craster's Keep that night, Craster and Commander Mormont were speaking when Sam, Grenn, Edd, Rast, and Karl entered. Grenn stood off to the side while Sam stood close by him, his hands behind his back so no one would see his unsheathed dagger. It wasn't long before Karl got into an argument with Craster about the quality, or lack thereof, of bread they were given.
"He's sitting there drinking our wine, eating his fill while we die" Rast said, agreeing with Karl. Craster joined the already standing Commander Mormont.
"I gave you crows enough. I've got to feed my women!" Craster said, clearly enraged.
"So you admit you've got a hidden larder, then? How else's you make it through winter?" Rast asked rhetorically.
"Enough! Out!" Commander Mormont shouted.
"I am a godly man" Craster said.
"Godly men don't rape their daughters!" Grenn said. Karl and Rast turned to Grenn, surprised he would side with them at the risk of angering the Lord Commander. Edd was surprised too.
"You dare insult me in my own home boy!" Craster shouted.
"Why not, you've violated guest right already" Grenn said.
"I've done no such thing!" Craster shouted.
"Oh really. Then where does it say in guest right to left your guests starve to death while you rape your daughters you filth" Grenn said. Craster grabbed his ax from the ax and stepped closer to Grenn who stepped back in kind. Sam tightened his grip on his dagger.
"Filth am I? Out with you, you little thief. Out with all of you. Go starve in the cold. I'll chop the hands off the next man who calls me-" Craster was saying before he was interrupted.
"Filth? Because that is what you are Craster. You were born in filth and you will died in filth like the pig shit that you are" Grenn said resolute. Craster raise his ax.
"AHHHH" Craster shouted as he charged at Grenn. Grenn only had time to take one step back before Craster charged, but that was all he need. The second Craster stepped close to Sam, Sam grabbed Craster's arm and faster than Craster could react or Mormont, Grenn, Edd, Rast or Karl could even see, it happened. Sam's arm flew past Craster's shoulder and jabbed Sam's dagger strait through Craster's neck. He dropped his ax. "GAH AH GAH" Craster choked out as his blood spurted on to Sam's hand and forehead. Mormont, Edd, Rast and Karl stared in the biggest shock of their lives. Grenn smiled a little, proud that Sam actually did have it in him after all.
"And now your watch has ended!" Sam said with bile. Then Sam pulled the dagger back out and the foulest man who ever lived fell to the ground dead.
"Ha. So you do got balls on you after all" Karl said a little impressed. Commander Mormont's face turned from shock to anger.
"What have you done Samwell! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" Mormont shouted. As Mormont stepped closer to Sam, Grenn stepped in between them and drew his sword. "You draw your sword on your Lord Commander"?
"I'd draw my sword to defend my friend from the man who values a man who murders his own babies over the lives of his men" Grenn said, just as resolute as when he was talking to Craster.
"Well, look at that. Grenn's got some balls as well" Karl said. He drew his sword and walk up right next to Mormont, the sword pointed at Sam and Grenn. "But I can have people saying the Legend of Gin Alley has less balls then Samwell Fucking Tarly. So..." then suddenly Karl stabbed his sword right through Commander Mormont's side.
"GAHH" Commander Mormont shouted. Grenn, Edd and Sam's faces shifted to one of horror.
"NO!" Sam shouted. Karl pulled his sword out and readied another strike. But then Grenn jumped to attack Karl, forcing him back. Sam ran to catch the falling Commander. Rast pulled his sword and ran toward the two, but was stopped by Edd who had also pulled his sword.
"SAM! RUN!" Grenn shouted, barely able to stand against Karl's power blows. Running on pure adrenaline Sam managed to get himself and Commander Mormont out of Craster's giant. Then Sam laided Mormont down in the snow. He threw his dagger off to the side and crowched down to Mormont.
"Commader no no please oh no. I'm so sorry, this is all my fault" Sam cried as Mormont blead in the snow. Then the Lord Commander grabbed Sam's arm.
"No Sam, No. This isn't your fault. It is mine. This my punishment from the gods" Jeor said, barly hanging on.
"Don't say that" Sam cried.
"It's true. I called my son honorless, but let Craster do the things he did. Jon was right about me. Save yourself Sam" Jeor said.
"I can't leave you" Sam cried.
"You must. You must lived. I need you to tell Jon...BAW BAW BAW" Jeor coughed blood.
"What? Tell him what?" Sam asked. As he cradled Jeor's head.
"Tell him I am sorry, and that he will make a great Lord Commander one day. And if you ever meet my son, tell him I forgive him and that I love him" Jeor said.
"I will, I promise" Sam cried.
"Thank you. Farewell Sam" Jeor said as he closed his eyes for the final time.
"Farewell Jeor" Sam cried. Sam laided the Lord Commander's head down. Then he heard the other Night's Watch members approching. Sam didn't know whether they'd help him or end him, so he picked up his dagger, wiped his tears away, and ran to Gilly. He entered her makeshift room in a dash and found her still holding the baby. Gilly looked at him and saw the blood on his forehead and on the dagger.
"You did it?" Gilly half said half asked.
"Aye, I did it. And now we have to run" Sam said. He took Gilly's hand in his empty hand and they ran from that dreadful place, deep into the woods.

(Riverrun, the day after Joffrey's death)
...
King Robb Stark was trying to plot out his next move with the aid of Catelyn, Edmure, Brynden, and Lord Galbart Glover around a war table. Smalljon stood by his king.
"And with the Brotherhood added on to our armies we may be able to apply enough pressure in The Crownlands for the Tyrells to send their armies. Then perhaps we can finally convince the Tarly's to side with us. Once they do, we can take Highgarden. Then we may be able to finally sue for peace" Robb said.
"If the Tarly's side with us" The Blackfish said.
"It is an awful risk Your Grace" Edmure said.
"Aye, it may very well be. But it may also our best chance to end this war" Robb said.
"If this is your wish Your Grace, we will honor it. We just need to know that you're sure" Edmure said. Robb contemplated if this would be the best way. He wished for a sign. Then as if he was sent by the old gods themselves, Lord Forester entered into the room, rushing to the council. He was nearly out of breath by the time he reached them.
"Is something wrong Gregor?" Lord Glover asked.
"Quite the opposite, it is the best news we've received since the war began" Lord Forester said. He had all of their attention now.
"What is Lord Forester?" Robb asked.
"Your Grace. It's King Joffrey. He's dead" Lord Forester said. The room fell silent. While the rest stared in shock, Robb walked around the table and stopped near Lord Forester.
"Joffrey is Dead?" Robb asked, unable to believe his ears.
"Aye Your Grace" Lord Forester said.
"Your sure?" Robb asked.
"Aye. We have received word that while on his royal hunt, an assassin dressed as one of the guards threw a poison dart into Joffrey's neck. He is dead Your Grace. Eddard ghost may rest easy" Lord Forester said with a smile, glad to be the one to deliver the news. A smile came across Robb's face as some tears came to his eye. He turn to look at his mother and the exact same could be said about her face. Edmure wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in. "And there is more good news". They all turned back to Lord Forester.
"I highly doubt it could get much better" Robb said.
"It can. The assassin who killed Joffrey was sent by Arya" Lord Forester said. Everyone's faces went back to disbelief.
"Arya?" Catelyn asked.
"That is impossible" Robb said.
"It's true Your Grace. Arya has escaped from the Lannisters and sent the assassins after Cersei and Joffrey. Where ever she is, she is free of the Lannisters" Lord Forester said. Robb's smile returned. He was unable contain his excitement, to the point he grabbed Lord Forester's face and kissed his cheek.
"Oh Lord Forester, thank you" Robb said.
"I'm just a messenger Your Grace" Lord Forester said.
"Even so, that is exactly what I needed to hear" Robb said. He turned back to the council. "Yes Uncle and Great Uncle, I am sure of my plan".
"Yes Your Grace" The Blackfish said.
"Yes Your Grace" Edmure said at the same time.
"Lord Forester, send a message to Lord Bolton. We will be returning to the battlefield after we meet with Lord Beric Dondarrion" Robb said.
"Yes Your Grace" Lord Forester said. He turned to began to walk out. As he did however, he muttered something under his breath. "Lord Bolton, peh. That man will be the death of you my king".
"This is it. I can feel it. The war will soon be over" Robb said.

(Highgarden)
...
At the Highgarden smithy, Gendry has been working to craft armor for the Tyrell's army. He had been stalled though, for his lady demanded his attention.
"That is your big idea?" Gendry asked.
"It's better than slaving away around here" Arya said.
"No it isn't. Charging all the way across The Reach and The Westlands in the hopes we magically make it to Riverrun is not a better idea than staying here" Gendry said.
"Come on Gen... Lommy" Arya caught herself.
"I am not coming on 'Lyla'. Even if we left Hot Pie behind, The Reach and The Westlands are crawling with Lannister and Tyrell soldiers. We'd be luck if they just killed us when they caught us. And I don't know about you, but I have no intention of leaving Hot Pie" Gendry said.
"I don't either" Arya said.
"Then we may as well take the Ocean Road right to the door of Casterly Rock for all the good it do us" Gendry said. As Gendry went back pounding the armor, Arya began to storm off. Gendry, not wanting Arya to leave upset and possible do something stupid, call back to her. "Lyla wait". Arya turned back to him.
"What?" Arya asked while clearly agitated.
"I know how badly you want to get back to your family. I want nothing more than you to do that. If you really to, then you have to be smart and patient. Now isn't the time" Gendry said. Arya was visibly claimer after listening to Gendry. She left the smithy and wandered the halls a bit. That is until Mira found.
"There you are. I've been looking all over for" Mira said, sounding almost out of breath.
"I was just-" Arya began to say.
"No time to talk, you need to come with me. NOW" Mira said. The Forester lady grab Arya's hand and almost dragged her through the halls.
"What are you-" Arya tried to speak.
"No time" Mira said. They finally reached Mira's room where they could talk in private. "So, is it true?" Mira asked.
"Is what true?" Arya asked right back.
"They are saying you sent an assassin after King Joffrey. Is it true?" Mira asked. Arya froze for a moment. Word had gotten out an assassin had been sent by Arya Stark. Could this mean?
"Joffrey, is he-" Arya began to ask.
"He is. Joffrey Baratheon's reign has come to an end" Mira said. The largest smile came to Arya's face.
"He did it" Arya said.
"So it was you" Mira said.
"Aye, and I've never been happier" Arya said.
"Well then I'm sorry to ruin your mood" Mira said.
"What?" Arya asked a little confused.
"Sit down. We need to cut off all your hair" Mira said.
"WHAT?" Arya said much louder while grabbing her hair.
"They were look for you before. How much harder do you think they will look now that you've killed their king? And more importantly, what do you think they will do to you if they find you?" Mira asked. This reasoning won Arya over.
"Okay" Arya said a little resigned. Arya went and sat in the chair closest to the mirror. Mira grabbed a razor and got to work.
"Still though, you've avenged your father. You must be so proud" Mira said, dropping the serious tone she had.
"Never prouder" Arya said, her smile returning. Indeed, knowing that Joffrey died know it was a Stark that sent he to his doom had given her the satisfaction she wanted.

(King's Landing, The Sept of Baelor, days after Joffrey's death)
...
Joffrey's funeral was much like Cersei's, closed to everyone, but his immediate family. Tywin stood at Joffrey's left while Tommen and Tyrion again stood to their right. Unlike last time however, Tommen wasn't weeping. In truth, he wouldn't be crying even if this wasn't the first time he had been let out of his room since Joffrey's body had been returned. Tywin began to asked Tommen what kind of king he'll be now that his brother is dead. He told Tommen of the mistakes of Baelor the Blessed, Orys the first, and of Tommen's own father King Robert Baratheon. When Tommen realized that it is wisdom that makes a good, Tywin then asked him more questions.
"Father stop. Tommen has had a rough month. He doesn't need this right now" Tyrion said.
"On the contrary, this is exactly want he needs now" Tywin said. He then turned back to Tommen. You've been emotionally compromised for the past several days, and your still young. It is now more than any other time you will need your counselors. And if you wish to be a good king, you will heed your counselor when you are of the right mind as well. I implore you to learn from your brother. Your brother was not a wise king. Your brother was not a good king". Tyrion cracked a smile at that part. "If he had been, perhaps he'd still be alive. Now as the king will have to marry". Tywin grabbed Tommen's, intending to lead him away, but then Tyrion grabbed Tommen's hand.
"Father, I wish to speak with Tommen alone for a moment" Tyrion said.
"Don't be ridiculous, we have too much to discuss" Tywin said.
"If a wise king listens to his counselors, shouldn't I hear what my master of coin has to say?" Tommen asked. This suprised both Tyrion and Tywin, who began to stare right at him. Then a smile cracked across Tywin's face.
"Your a fast learner. Very well, I shall await at the door. We shall talk on the way back to The Red Keep" Tywin said. And Tywin walked away. Once they were alone. Tommen turned to his beloved uncle and knelt to his level.
"What is it you wish to speak about uncle?" Tommen asked.
"A few things. First, what your grand father means to tell you is that the plan is to wed you to Margaery" Tyrion said.
"Oh" Tommen said, unsure of how to feel.
"It won't be right away. We're going to hold it on your 14 name day" Tyrion said.
"That is still some time away" Tommen said.
"It is. Even so, you will have to get use to the idea. And your grand father wants to make sure that you that you must produce an heir with her. And... that you know how" Tyrion said.
"Oh" Tommen said.
"This maybe a bit unfomrotable for you, but please try not to worry to much. Instead think about how happy you two will be together"
"I don't even really know her" Tommen said.
"You will soon. Once we're sure your safe, you will properly meet Lady Margaery. And I sure you'll love her. I know she'll love you" Tyrion said warmly, trying make the boy feel better.
"Okay" Tommen said while smiling a little.
"And I want you to know that he is right, a good king must be wise. But he must also be kind. Promise me you will not lose your kind heart" Tyrion said.
"I promise" Tommen said.
"And remember, I will always be here for you" Tyrion said.
"Thank you uncle" Tommen said, his smile larger.
"And one more thing" Tyrion said.
"What is it?" Tommen asked.
"You will be a good king" Tyrion said. Tommen just hugged him in responce.

(Storm's End)
...
Deep in Storm's End, Ser Cortnay Penrose was perparing for the inevitable segie by Stannis. The men came to him asking for orders. He directed which of them would meet Stannis' ships, which would fight in the fields and which would defend the castle.
"And shall lead your men as part of the cavalry here" Ser Penrose said to an anonymous soldier under his command while poniting to a map.
"Yes Ser" the soldier said. Then the man left.
"Do you really think that Stannis will make it to the castle?" Ser Penrose's squire asked.
"It is possible, but he be met with the fight of his life. I promised Renly I would defend Storm's End, and I intend to keep that promise" Ser Penrose said. Then suddenly the window blew open and the wind came with it. The wind felt different, it felt dark. Then in the blink of an eye, a shadow appeared behind Ser Penrose, just as one had to his Lord. And just as it did to his lord, the shadow stabbed Ser Penrose through his heart as the onlookers screamed in terror.

(The Dreadfort)
All the way back up North, far from any Lannisters or Baratheons, there stood a fortress. A fortress whose name sent chills it to the hearts of the enemies of House Bolton, The Dreadfort. In the deougons of The Dreadfort, many Ironborn prisonars were being tourcured. Amoung them was their prince, the best firend turned enemy of Robb Stark, Theon Greyjoy. Theon could barly remenber what had been going on. The Bolton men had been savagly beating him to the ponit he lost concusnous contiunusly for the past few weeks. Having finally been given a restpite from said beatings, Theon couldn't help but think of the events that had lead him to this moment.
...
(Winterfell, weeks ago)
In the room of the house lord at Winterfell, Theon was struggling to keep control. Between keeping his ironborn happy and the people of Winterfell under control, he had been losing sleep. Not to mention everything that had happend with Bran and Rickon. That is when some of his ironborn entered into his room with a prisonor.
"Who is this?" Theon asked.
"We're not sure My Prince. He says his name is Reek" one of the two men said.
"Reek?" Theon asked.
"Yes My Prince. He appears to be Ramsay Snow's manservant" The other man said.
"Manservant? Then where is Bolton's bastard?" Theon asked.
"Dead. We ambushed him and his pitiful forces not that far from Winterfell. We easily overwelmed them and beheaded the bastard" Ironborn 1 said.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Finally some good news. I only wish I come be there to see the look on Lord Bolton's face when he learns his bastard is dead. Excellent work" Theon said.
"Thank you My Prince" Ironborn 1 said.
"Though I must asked, why did you let his manservant live, much less bring him to me" Theon asked.
"He says he has valuable information for us" Ironborn 2 said.
"Is that so?" Theon asked. He walked over to Reek, whom was still on his knees and staring down. He could certainly see why he was called Reek, his clothes were ragged, torn and foul smelling. Theon put his finger under his chin and tillted his head up so he could look in his eyes. They were blue and his hair was brown with a black tint. "And do you Reek? Do you have valuable information for me"?
"Yes My Lord. House Bolton planing to launch a second attack to capture you" Reek said.
"And how do you know this?" Theon asked.
"I heard their plans. I heard them say Ramsay was an idiot who was marching to his doom, so I listened in. I know their battle plans. I can help you get ready for them" Reek said. Theon drew his sword and brought it to Reek's neck.
"And why should I believe you?" Theon asked.
"I want my revenge against the Bolton's for what Ramsay did to me. He captured me, my brother, and my sister. When he told me that I would be his manservant. I refused then he took my brother and straped to a cross and beaten for days. Then he brought me in to watch as he tortured him for days" Reek said. then tears began to fall down Reek's face. "First he cut off one of his pinky's. Then when he couldn't tell his any thing useful, he cut off his other pinky and his fourth and fifth toes on both his feet. Then he..." Reek paused. "He did something unspeakable" Reek paused again. Theon put his sword down and just lisened, for he couldn't believew his ears. "And then he place me out of the room for then next part. He would bring my sister into the room where he keeped my brother and he..." Reek paused again, his tears where like a waterfall at this point. "He raped her. He raped her over and over, day after day, right in front of my brother. Then one day, when I thought for sure it would never end, he came to me and told me that my new name was Reek and I was his manservant. I did exactly as he said. I started answering to the name Reek and I did exactly as he said. And he still carved his name in between my brothers sholder blades".
"By the Drowned God" Theon said.
"And those Bolton men. They just stood back and let it happend. I can't resuce my brother and sister, but I can get my revenge. Please, let me help you" Reek said. Theon was compeletly speechless.
...
(The Dreadfort, present day)
As Theon hung there, strapped to a cross, he wished he'd cut the bastard's head off when he had the chance. Speaking of said bastard, he enter the room, now wearing clothes befiting a lord. He walked up to Theon, put his finger under his chin and tillted his head up so he could look in his eyes.
"And do you Reek? Do you have valuable information for me?" the bastard said with a evil smile.

(Storm's End)
...
Stannis met the knights of Storm's End on the boats. They tried to take his ship, he fought them off. During the battle, a man charged right at the King. Stannis deflected the blow, chopped off the man's hand and sliced his throat.
Stannis met the knights of Storm's End at the beaches. They tried to force him back, they failed. Stannis broke one of the men stances and the man fell to the ground. Stannis plunged his sword into the man's heart.
Stannis' army met Ser Penrose's in the fields. This would be a battle of tactics. Stannis' army still had their commander, the other did not.
Finally they reached the castle. The men were in shambles after Ser Penrose's death. All they could do was barricade themselfs in. It didn't last. Stannis was the first through the door went the barricade was down. Two men came at him. He blocked both of their attacks and then punched the one on the left. While the man was dazed, Stannis put his sword through the man's side. Then just quickly, the king drew it back out and blocked the other man's next attack. Stannis spun his sword, sending the man's sword flying to the side. Then he put his sword through the man stomach. The rest of the men surrendered. The day was won for Stannis. After his men secured the castle he gave some very seious orders.
"The men who surrendered shall be forgiven if they pledge their loyalty to me, but they will do it on pain of death" Stannis said, speaking to one of his leading men.
"And the ones we captured Your Grace?" the soldier asked.
"Burn them" Stannis said.
"Your Grace, are you sure?" the soldier asked.
"They are traitors to the crown. I offered Ser Penrose the chance to surrender, he defied me. They followed his order to the end. They will join him in death. They will burn" Stannis said.
"If that is your wish, I will carry it out Your Grace" the soldier said. And he took his leave. Another came to Stannis.
"Your Grace, we have him" Soldier 2 said.
"Bring him here" Stannis said. The men brought Ser Penrose's squire before Stannis. "Edric Storm. Do you know who I am"?
Your Stannis Baratheon, the Lord of Dragonstone. Your also King Robert's brother" Edric said.
"Aye. I am" Stannis said.
"I suppose that makes you my uncle" Edric said.
"I suppose it does. Come, we have much to discuss" Stannis said.

Authors Notes:
I'm not gonna lie, writing Craster's death felt good. It felt really good.
So here we are. Stannis has taken Storm's End and Edric, Tommen is now king, Sansa is celibarting, Sam has gotten a kill under his belt, Arya has lost all her hair, and Robb is gearing up for victory. Lets see how long all their good feelings last, shall we. Thank you to everyone who review the last chapter, I appricate your kind words so very much. I don't know when the next chapter will be out, so keep your eyes peeled. As usual, please point out any grammar mistakes. Please leave a review and tell me what you thought of the chapter. Thank you for reading, have a great day.
P.S. I may be starting a new story soon. I'm not sure when, what form it will take or how many chapters it will be. All I know is that it will be a comedy/drama/romance story. It will be kinda of an experiment for me. However, this story will still take presidence. It will be more of something I can stop and start write easily. And it will be about something other than Game of Thrones.
