One Named Deyo
In the foggy area of Misty Meadows, a small Furrel was running along the ground, jumping on a nearby log, nibbling at a small pile of nuts as a hand reached out from behind the log, grabbing the small creature and shoving it in his mouth. The creature, a pale lizard-like being slurped the creature up, it's puffy tail going into his mouth as he swallowed the small animal.
The Creature was a young Deyo, placing the nuts in a bag tied around his waist, he wore cloth shorts. Deyo wiped the remnants of the creature off his lips as he rested on the soft grass. In his young age, the one named Deyo was pretty carefree, he lived outside of Troll Village and left them alone, considering they often left him alone.
Deyo laid on his back looking up at the clouds as he breathed in a deep sigh, closing his eyes. For as long as Deyo could remember he knew nothing about his past and had no memory of his parents, From what He knew he was the only one of his kind. He wasn't exactly sad about that. Not being a part of a group meant Deyo could do whatever he wanted and not worry about someone else questioning or talking down to him.
After resting Deyo walked to the nearby lake, dropping his shorts as he jumped in the cool water, beating the heat of the summer day, stroking in the lake, enjoying the quiet sounds of nature. Deyo laid on his back, stroking to the middle of the lake where he rested, hearing a group of Troll children wandering around as one of them jumped into the lake as water, splashing over Deyo and causing him to fumble around.
"Hey" The young pale creature called out as the kids were chuckling, the Troll who jumped in resurfaced as he looked at Deyo laughing.
"Come on Deyo, the kids are just having fun" a much older Queen Poppy called out, who was more mellowed with her age, not being the young ball of energy she was in her youth, her hair having a lighter hue, wearing a blue dress and her leaf crown. she was the spitting image of her father, as she looked at the three kids. The first was Basil, who had jumped in the lake, having dark green skin and light blue hair, the next was Groove, having light blue skin and white hair, last was Twiggy. The three were wearing swimwear as Poppy was supervising the kids, despite being the queen, she still liked having fun and was delighted the kids invited her to their lakeside picnic.
Poppy set out a picnic blanket for the trio, reminding the two other kids to go swimming before eating as Twiggy and Groove jumped in the lake, resurfacing as Deyo sighed, peddling to the edge of the lake, saying he'd leave the Trolls alone as Poppy looked at him.
"You don't have to leave on our accord" Poppy called out to the young creature as Deyo looked at the Pop Queen, who suggested that Deyo stay and enjoy the picnic as he said that the last thing he wanted was to be a burden. Poppy assured him it was okay, offering him a cupcake as Deyo sighed walking to the queen who handed him one of the desserts.
Deyo, not wanting to be rude, accepted the cupcake, thanking her as he tossed the cupcake up in the air, snapping his mouth as he chewed and swallowed the baked good. Among the Pop Trolls in the village, Queen Poppy was always nice to him as she was with everyone. Deyo finished his cupcake as Basil walked out of the lake, approaching the queen and creature.
"Sweet cupcakes," Basil said, taking one of the small desserts from the basket, removing the paper wrapping before biting into it, Deyo looked at Basil's wrapper, realized he wasn't supposed to eat the wrapper, Basil letting out a small chuckle.
"Don't worry, Mr. Sky designed the wrappers to be edible," Basil said, tearing the material with his teeth, and he swallowed it, Groove and Twiggy leaving the pond, walking to the group, as Groove looked at Deyo, asking who and what he was.
"This is Deyo, he lives out in Misty Meadows, sometimes we run into him, as for what he is, we don't know... Branch guesses some Troll subspecies but no one knows for sure" Poppy explained as Twiggy looked at Deyo, pulling the wings attached to his back, asking if he could fly as he shrugged.
"I'm sure they're just decoration, If I Can fly I don't know how" Deyo explained as Twiggy complimented on how cool they looked, saying they gave him a dragon-like appearance.
"Hey, me and the guys and having a slumber party tonight, why not visit?" Twiggy asked as Deyo simply rubbed his chin, saying it may seem weird, Deyo wasn't one to go to Troll Village, usually, he just camped around it and survived on the local wildlife. It was a simple life but he enjoyed it.
"Come on, there will be dancing, music, snacks and hugging," Basil said which were the four essentials to Pop Troll culture as Poppy said he was welcome. Since The World Tour, the Trolls around the globe had been celebrating their differences and welcome all to their village as Deyo sighed, saying he was willing to try new things.
After the swimming Poppy and the kids enjoyed the picnic, sharing their food with Deyo while Poppy checked her Hug Watch, telling the kids she would be back soon, she just had to do something real quick as the kids nodded, doing what they were told as they stood still.
Deyo unlike the others was curious as to what Queen Poppy was doing as he said he slinked off from the group, using his claws to climb up a tree, jumping around as he followed the Queen. sitting one of the tree branches as he looked down at the Queen who stopped at a rock statute, reaching into her picnic basket pulling out a cupcake as she set it on the rock.
"Hey Dad, It's me. I Just wanted to say Hi, things have gone well, we're getting ready for this year's Harmonyfest, wish you could be there. It's weird isn't it, I always dismissed your advice when you were alive, always making the choices, not saying I'm a bad queen, quite the opposite, last year I got a perfect smiley rating" Poppy spoke to the grave of her father as she heard the branch behind her cracking as Deyo fell off, Poppy used her hair to cushion the kid's fall as he stood up dusting himself.
"I thought I told you to stay at the picnic," Poppy said as Deyo looked at her, defending that she told the Troll children to stay there.
"And technically I'm not a Troll, so you don't really have any say over me" Deyo rebutted as Poppy sighed, If she were younger she'd have made a smart remark at the ready as Deyo asked who she was talking to. Poppy looked to the stone as Deyo looked confused.
"You're talking to a rock?" Deyo replied confused as Poppy sighed, explaining she was talking to her Dad as Deyo read the text on the stone.
" King Peppy, Beloved King and Father- No Troll Left Behind" Deyo read, looking at Poppy confused
"Oh, Your Dad is a rock, His name should have been Rocky," Deyo asked, Poppy interpreted it as a joke as she could not help but laugh, saying that was a good one.
"No, King Peppy was a Troll, he was the one who founded Troll Village, you see many years ago Pop Trolls lived in a tree" Poppy went on, telling their story as she explained how Peppy led their people to freedom and saved their people from the Troll Tree" Poppy went on as Deyo laid on his belly, head resting on his hands as he listened to her story.
"You can keep talking to your Dad if you want, he seems like a good Troll" Deyo complimented the late king as Poppy reflected on her childhood and the time she spent with Peppy as she smiled,
"Yeah, he really was, a bit nutty at some times but he was a great leader and that's why I try to be the best Queen I can, to give the people a good leader, and when I'm gone I hope my kid can do the same" Poppy explained as Deyo nodded, seeming to understand her message. In the future years, Deyo had frequently visited Troll Village. Most of the Trolls seemed to like him. The truth is no one knows why he did what he did.
About a decade later, a young adult Deyo, was in Troll Village, the other Trolls paying no attention as he often visited, but the sight they saw would change their lives forever. with no reason or explanation, an emotionless Deyo walked out of the Royal Pod, holding the severed head of Queen Poppy, earning a look of shock and disgust from the Trolls.
"Deyo, what did you do?" Basil asked in shock, seeing his friend holding up the bloodied head of the Queen as the creature was silent, showing no response and giving a blank stare. Deyo simply lowered his hand, the head rolling down his fingers, squishing on the ground as Deyo spread out his wings, and flew off. Everyone was shocked why Deyo would do such a thing. It was his first kill and the start of his descent.
A/N One note Villains are tacky, and I didn't want to make Deyo evil for evil's sake, I wanted to do something with Him, revealing part of his backstory. Turns out he was not always some demonic overlord but one was a nice child, which begs the question of what caused to turn into such a monster
