A Flying Lesson

"Hadrian, are you going to sleep soon?" commented Ron as he was finishing up an essay for Transfiguration. The others, Draco and Neville, had already finished and were asleep.

The raven hummed as he reached over to stroke Anubis' scales. The snake was curled up on his desk, his stomach full after eating some roast from dinner. Hadrian had been seated at the desk finishing the letter that Tom had written somehow.

"Mhm. Don't worry, I won't be late for our flying lesson." he replied and the red head nodded once. He put his homework away then spelled on his pajamas and climbed into bed.

After a few painful rituals I am now considered a pureblood.

I think that's enough on me for now. If you're wondering how I am writing this, well, I am sure you know the story of how you got your scar by now. I was reduced to a spirit form and wondered for a while. At the moment I am possessing someone until I can get my original body back.

I hope to get it back soon so I can meet you in person. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Yours,

T.M.R

Hadrian found himself smiling though he wondered what exactly was his relationship with the Dark Lord. He had asked before but Lucius and Severus would always look at him strangely, then say it wasn't for them to tell.

He knew Tom would not be a parental figure in his life. So could he..could he be more? Hadrian knew that the tradition of arranged marriage was common amongst the old pureblood families. Especially the Blacks. So..would he be Tom's future spouse?

His face warmed for some unknown reason and he felt his scar tingle with warmth. He shook his head and quickly began writing his own response. Once finished, he gave the letter to Kreacher to give to Tom then went to sleep with a strange feeling in his chest.

Before Hadrian knew it, he was opening his eyes and getting ready for breakfast.

"You seem to be in a good mood." commented Draco as the four Slytherin boys entered the Great Hall with Theo and Blaise chatting behind. Neville noticed as well. There was a sort of warm current coming from Hadrian's magic. It didn't feel like how he felt when he was around his family or friends.

"I guess I just had a good night's rest." said Hadrian. It wasn't as if he didn't trust his friends but for some reason, he wanted to keep Tom a secret. Of course when he returned that would be useless but for now he could do what he wanted. It wasn't harming anyone. No one but Dumbledore.

"Uh huh." Draco said sceptically and they laughed at the look Hadrian gave the blonde. Up at the Head Table, Quirrel was reading a letter, his eyes red.

Dear Tom,

It is nice to unofficially meet you..or remeet you? I do remember you vaguely, mainly your eyes. I doubt there's anyone else with eyes like that but myself and they aren't hardly as intriguing as yours.

Our pasts are quite similar. I find it interesting that you would be a half-blood. I've heard of how powerful you were then. And even now. As I know now, no one has achieved what you have. It makes me curious.. if your soul is in the scar on my head, would we be able to interact? I'd rather not have to keep writing letters as they could always be intercepted.

I hope to meet you soon as well. I'm interested in our relationship. Lucius and Severus won't tell me why I am important to you. Of course I'm your Horcrux but I wasn't before..would you mind telling me what I am to you?

My snake, his name is Anubis. He is a Basilisk and Sea Krait mix. And yes, I am a parselmouth. Severus told me that dad is as well but he hid it. What kind of snake is Nagini?

Would you mind telling me, who you are possessing? And I think something Dumbledore has can get your body back. I'm not sure though.

So far the snakes have been excellent, though with Ronald Weasley in Slytherin, some of the other purebloods were wary. But I managed to make them see it my way. Speaking of Slytherin, what were you like in school? I don't believe there's much information on you despite how infamous you are.

Yours,

Hadrian

Quirrel looked up with a pleased smirk just as Hadrian and his friends stood up to get to their first class of the day, their flying lesson with Madam Hooch.

"You don't seem particularly happy." chuckled Neville from Hadrian's side and the raven sighed as the group of Slytherins, made their way through the yard. Madam Hooch was standing in the very center of it, her hands on her hips.

"I am, it's just I hate the rule that says first years can't play Quidditch. It's ridiculous." he muttered, his nose scrunching slightly when the noisy Gryffindors pushed past them, eager for their first lesson. All but Granger who looked pale.

"I've been trying to get dad to have them get rid of that rule but so far, nothing. Apparently the muggleborn parents think it's too dangerous for their kids." muttered Draco and Ron scoffed.

"Yes because sending their children to a place where kids are practicing magic for the first time isn't as dangerous as flying a broom through the sky and possibly getting hit by bludgers." he muttered and Neville and Draco shared a look, making Ron blush.

"What?" he asked nervously and Hadrian chuckled. "Very Slytherin of you to say." he said and Ron coughed in embarrassment. "W-Well it's true. I mean, how many times have some first year been in the infirmary and we've only just started? If they cared that much about their children then why not just let them stay oblivious in the muggle world? They're thinking about one sport that could possibly hurt their son or daughter but not our entire world which is dangerous in general. That's pretty dense."

The others laughed and Ron felt his face warm as he looked down. Not exactly sure if they were laughing at him or something else entirely.

"You're right Ron. That is dense. I'll bring this up with father later." said Draco and the group of young wizards finally quieted down.

Hadrian and his friends didn't much pay attention to what Madam Hooch was saying, most of them already having flown a broom at home, and Granger scowled at this once Madam Hooch was done speaking.

"You should really pay attention." she grumbled, swallowing nervously when an old looking broom appeared at her feet.

"Says the one that's only been in the wizarding world for what, maybe a month? Shouldn't you be paying attention?" muttered Ron, obviously irritated and Hadrian smirked at Granger's red face.

"Hold your hand out over the broom, and say, up!" instructed Madam Hooch.

"Up!" chorused everyone around and Draco choked on his laughter when Longbottom's broom hit him in the face on the way up to his hand. Granger wouldn't even touch hers, stepping back and staring at it like it was some kind of monster.

Hadrian rolled his eyes and didn't even say a word as his broom came flying into his hand with ease.

"Up." called Ron in what he hoped was a stern voice and grinned when the broom flew into his hand. "Good job Ron." said Hadrian and just as the red head opened his mouth to respond, Madam Hooch began shouting.

"Longbottom! Longbottom! Get down from there!" she shouted and everyone looked up, watching as the Gryffindor rose higher and higher into the sky.

"How do I get down?!" he yelled frantically and the Slytherins erupted in laughter. The broom jerked to the side dangerously and Longbottom screamed as he was suddenly plummeting to the ground.

There was a loud crunch and Granger began throwing up, Hadrian grimacing.

"Oh dear. It's broken." muttered Madam Hooch, shaking her head.

"No one touches those brooms. I will be right back." she stated firmly and the class nodded as they watched her lift the injured boy up and go rushing toward the castle.

"What kind of a respectable pureblood wizard doesn't know how to ride a broom?" scoffed Ron, obviously gaining some confidence from seeing Longbottom fail so badly and Hadrian chuckled as the Gryffindors glared at them.

"Shut it Weasley. You can't even talk about being a "pureblood" wizard. Your family is in poverty." retorted Seamus Finnigan and Ron gave him a blank stare. "Got any new material? I've heard plenty of times how poor I am." he yawned and even Neville couldn't help but snort with laughter.

"Leave him alone, Weasley." snapped Parvati Patil and Draco's nose scrunched up as he said, "Wow Parvati. I didn't think stupid was your type."

Ron snickered at this and nudged the blonde.

"I think you've got it wrong, Draco. She's the Gryffindor twin, remember?" at this Parvati's face reddened and she shoved the boy, sending him bumping into Neville. The action caused something to go flying out of his robe pocket, landing at Seamus' feet.

"Oh? What do we have here?" smirked Seamus, holding up what looked to be a broken piece of a mirror. Hadrian immediately stepped forward, his eyes hard.

"Give it back, now, Finnigan." he uttered darkly and the Gryffindor boy hesitated once before stepping back and grabbing a broom, mounting it quickly.

"It's just a piece of glass. What's so important about it?" he snickered and Hadrian mounted his own broom, flying up after the boy. "That's none of your business. Give it back." he stated and Finnigan looked thoughtful. "Nah. How about..you go get it?" he grinned and threw the glass shard as hard as he could, toward Gryffindor tower.

Hadrian shot forward so fast that he blew past Finnigan, sending the boy jerking to the side.

Hadrian could hear shouting down below but he ignored it, his eyes narrowed at the shard as it began to lose altitude. He dove down, reaching out and leaning forward as far as he could.

His hand latched onto the glass shard and he spun out of his dive, floating back up smoothly.

He stared down at the shard, smiling at the grey eyes that stared back.

The raven heard cheering and looked down, grinning as the Slytherins clapped and shouted his name in awe. He grinned and glided back down, not noticing that Severus Snape was staring after him wide eyed from McGonagall's office.

"That was brilliant Hades!" breathed Ron and Draco nodded quickly. "You looked amazing up there." he said and Hadrian smiled, before turning to Neville. "Thanks.." he said quietly, slipping the shard back into his pocket and Hadrian hummed.

"You should keep that in our room." he said and Neville nodded once.

Hadrian dropped the broom and just as he turned to possibly hex Finnigan, he heard his name.

"Mr. Black!"

The Gryffindors began to snicker as Severus Snape and Minerva McGonagall came rushing toward them, not at all happy. Hadrian groaned under his breath and sighed. "Don't wait up for me." he muttered and his friends stared after him warily as he approached the angered professors.
