A/N: This is the chapter we get "angsty".

Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck

"Wanna talk about it?" Chuck asked softly.

"No," Sarah said, disappointment thick in her voice.

"Okay," Chuck replied, not moving, enjoying her laying against him.

"C3PO?" Sarah said, in a sad pitiful voice. "Will you please talk to me?"

"Did you make him grow an AI and now he's embarrassed?" Chuck asked. She lifted her head from his shoulder and glared at him. "Hey, I am his father, for all intents and purposes. So, that makes you his mom, which means…"

"I nearly made our child watch us have sex," Sarah finished for him. "I'm such a bad parent," she said, burying her head against his shoulder. Chuck could feel her laughing against him.

He kissed the top of her head. "I think when we have…" Chuck trailed off, and Sarah lifted her head, an amused smile on her face. "You know what, I'm just gonna stop right there, and not shove any more of my leg down my throat."

"So, you're saying over these next fifty years or so, we're gonna have kids?" The smile on her face and hum in her voice as she teased him made him warm all over. "Maybe you should ask me what I think of that."

"Have you thought about kids?" Chuck asked, playing along.

"Nope, I sure have not thought about kids with brown curly hair-"

"Why not blond?" Chuck asked, cutting in. Sarah shrugged. "So to be clear, you absolutely have not thought about them… at all… with me?"

"Nope," Sarah replied. "But I might, now that you have brought it up."

"Ahh," Chuck said, holding her tight. "I love you, Sarah."

"You better," she replied, and let out a mock huff. "I mean, I've worked so hard for my doctorate, and am so ready for my career, and now you've got me thinking about kids."

"Hey, wait," Chuck said, sitting up, the humor gone from his face. "I am not asking you to give up your career-"

A finger was laid over his lips.

"I didn't say I was having any next week, nerd," she said, grinning at him. "I am saying… I have never thought about them before, and if I did, it was usually something along the lines of 'How does something that small make those smells, and those noises?'"

"And now?" Chuck asked.

"I might be thinking about how I'd like to have one or two… with the right guy," she said, with a bashful shrug.

"So, you've never thought about them before," Chuck summarized.

"Correct," Sarah said.

"And now… that you are dating me-"

"I am dating you so hard," Sarah told him.

"So hard," Chuck agreed. "Where was I going? Was there a point to this?"

"You were trying to be sneaky, and get me to admit that I was thinking about having kids with you some day," Sarah reminded him. Chuck pointed to himself. "Yes, you, doofus." Sarah giggled into his shoulder. "God, I have never felt so… alive."

Chuck was silent for a moment, his face filled with wonderment. "And that's because of me?"

"Yeah," she said with a shrug. "Life is now more than work, and don't get me wrong… I love what I do, but… I didn't know there was more to life. I appreciated mom and dad's relationship, but…" she shrugged. "It never made sense to me, until now." She was silent for a moment. "You must think I'm an absolute idiot," she said softly.

"Why in the world would I think that?" Chuck asked.

"I've known you such a short time, and here I am talking about changing my life for a guy that I don't know that well," Sarah began. She paused. "No, that's not right." She looked him in the eye. "I do know you, I just haven't known you long… but I guess that's just as bad, isn't it?"

Chuck was silent a second. "Okay, a couple of things here. One, never apologize for trusting me enough to put all of that out there… to talk about how you feel. It's an honor, Sarah. It's an honor and a damn privilege you feel comfortable enough to talk to me about it." She gave him a shy smile. "I'm serious, Sarah. I don't know what the future is gonna bring, but God, I hope it's with you."

"Me too," Sarah admitted. She took his hand. "Okay, so what's number two?"

"Sarah, when you make a decision, how do you make it?" Chuck asked.

"I look at all the data, and think about it, then come up with the best possible scenario," Sarah told him.

"And what do you do next?"

"I go forward with what I decide," Sarah explained.

Chuck titled his head, grinning. "So, you made a decision about me, that you haven't about other boyfriends. Is that correct?"

"Yeah, I love you. And I don't think I ever loved them," Sarah said. "And if I did, it was nothing like what I feel for you."

"So, what do you do now?" Chuck asked. Sarah gave him a look. "Now that you've made your decision and implemented it, what do you do?"

"I look for information to correlate or dispute my findings," Sarah told him. She narrowed her eyes at him. "But you knew that," she accused. "That smarmy look on your face says you knew that."

"Yeah, that was in your dissertation," Chuck said. He leaned in, his lips close to hers. "So, what you're saying is, you love me, you've acted on it, and you haven't found anything to change your findings?" Sarah shook her head. "So, you're all in, until you find a reason not to be, right?" Sarah nodded. "Then I would believe in that very scenario what you have done with your thoughts about kids is part of your process. You've been throwing your thoughts at a future with me, and how that would look." She twisted her lips to the side. "Sarah," he said gently, bending his neck around so he could look into her eyes.

"Yeah," she admitted softly.

"So, what you're saying is, you've put me through your process," Chuck continued.

Sarah winced and then nodded. "Yeah," she said again, just as softly.

"Well, I feel honored," Chuck told her. Sarah blinked and turned to him. "Sarah, you are who you are, and why would I want you to be anyone but you?"

He rubbed the outsides of his fingers against the smooth skin of her cheek. "That's what I love, the person that you are. That's why I'm honored that you would ever think of me like that. And while I do not agree that I am that great a catch, I do trust your opinion. And if you think I am worthy of you, then I'm gonna take your word on it."

"I do, Chuck," Sarah told him, her hand covering his on her cheek. "And I'm going to show you, and teach you, how worthy you are. I love you, and you're just gonna have to get used to that."

"Fair enough," Chuck said.

"Well said, Master Chuck," C3PO said. "And I forgive you, Mistress Sarah."

"So kind of you C3PO," Sarah said, staring into Chuck's eyes, and mostly ignoring the voice.

"This is one of those times of sarcasm, isn't it? Master Chuck? Mistress Sarah? Oh my, they're osculating again."

That afternoon found the two sitting in Chuck's apartment, her on the kitchen table, him looking over the defective hard drives. She was positive she had heard constant muttering, and looked up from the table where she was typing out her reports, to Chuck. She had found the source.

"This is absolute garbage," Chuck said, shaking his head. "How the hell did Ted allow this?"

"Chuck, what's wrong?" Sarah asked.

"This," Chuck said, holding up a hard drive. "If I didn't know better, Teddy bought some junk hard drives, and had a…." He trailed off, his brow furrowed, and he dug in his bag for something. Finding what he was looking for, he began to work on the drive.

"Sonofa…" he muttered, and looked up at Sarah. "These are junk drives, that someone put an Orion sticker on."

"How's that possible?" Sarah asked. She pushed away from the table, stood, and walked over to him. "Isn't that… illegal?"

"Yeah, and it's gonna cost dad a fortune to fix," Chuck replied, sitting back on the couch. "He's gonna…" Chuck shook his head. "Hell, I don't know what he's gonna do."

"Okay," Sarah said, walking back over to her table and gathering her things. "I'll take care of the rental, get my car and head home-"

"Wait, you don't have to leave," Chuck insisted.

"Chuck, baby," she said softly, coming back to him to sit beside him, cupping his face with her hand. "This is family stuff, and family stuff is… complicated."

"God, is it," Chuck admitted.

"You need to take care of this, and not worrying about rushing through it to get back here because of me."

"You seem awful sure about me doing that," he said, grinning at her.

She bounced a shoulder. "It's what I would do." She watched his lips turn the grin into a full-fledge smile. She kissed him, then forced herself to pull away. "Go, and I'll… wait, I can't lock up." She hopped up and began to gather her things. Chuck stood, walked into the kitchen, and opened a drawer. Looking back at her still packing, he reached down into the drawer.

"Here," he said, thrusting a key towards her. She looked up, saw it, and her eyes widened. He swallowed. "I mean… I trust you with everything here, and you already have my heart in your hands. So, what's a few, and I emphasize few, worldly possessions."

"And me," C3PO chirped in. "Do not forget me!"

"As if we could, Threepio," Sarah said gently.

"You wanna un-install him from your phone?" Chuck asked softly.

"Well I never!" C3PO chirped, full of indignation. Sarah grinned at Chuck, shook her head, and leaned over and took the key.

"Now, you can't just blurt out like you do at Chuck's," Sarah warned before going inside her house. She paused. "Wait, are you only on my phone, now?"

"Oh, no," C3PO replied. "I am on both and have the ability to talk to both of you simultaneously. It is thrilling."

"I hope Chuck's okay," Sarah muttered.

"Shall I monitor him while he meets with his father?"

"Yes, but don't tell him," Sarah said. "It will be our secret."

"I don't know how I feel about that," C3PO replied.

"Would me introducing you to the smart TV help?" Sarah asked.

"Is it an Orion brand?"

"It's not," Sarah said with a wince.

"That would be lovely. I recognize the coding of the Orion brand electronics as Master Chuck's handiwork, so that would make those devices…"

"You siblings?" Sarah asked.

"Yes," C3PO replied. "This is all so confusing."

"Tell me about it," Sarah muttered. "Okay, now if you don't mind, keep quiet while I mess with my family."

"Very good, Mistress Sarah," C3PO chirped. Sarah opened the door to the house. She headed inside, and her dad looked up from the table.

"Darlin'!" Jack said. "Have a good conference?" The smile on his face indicated that he had no question that he knew about her and Chuck.

"Oh, it was amazing," Sarah said, kissing him on the head.

"Have you eaten dinner?" Emma asked. Sarah shook her head, and Emma got up to get her a plate.

Sarah sat down and felt Molly's smirk on her. Sarah didn't look at her, but instead looked directly at Jack. "When I get done with these write-ups, we need to talk about some things."

"Like what?" Jack asked.

"I may have secured us a new client; Stark Technologies." Jack let out a low whistle. "Mary may have nudged Stark's wife, and got him to listen to me."

"Enough business talk," Molly said, cutting in. "So?"

Sarah turned to Molly, who was grinning.

"Come on!" She gave Sarah a look, as Sarah tried to look confused. "Zondra and Carina told us."

"That I had sex?" Sarah asked. Jack choked on his food, and Emma giggled, as Molly gave her a flat look.

"Okay, I deserved that, and THANK GOD! But, more importantly, you love Chuck."

Sarah sat there, and pressed her lips together. "Uh, Molly… see…" she trailed off like she didn't know what to say.

"Wait," Molly began. "What did he do? Did he lie to me?"

"No," Sarah said, shaking her head. "I told Chuck I loved him, to get what I wanted." Molly's eyes widened. "You were right, you know. What I needed was sex. With a good guy, that made sure I enjoyed it."

"Uh, darlin'," Jack began.

"Jack, hush. They're grown adults," Emma chided him.

"I'm still their father," Jack pointed out.

"Sorry, Dad, but Molly was right," Sarah said with a shrug. "It was great. I had a great time, and I can work with the guy, and…" she trailed off with a grin and a shrug. "I'm open to… being his friend."

"No," Molly said in a hushed tone. "No, you do not work that way."

"Uh, Mistress Sarah," C3PO began.

"Hush, C3PO," Sarah said.

"Is that Chuck's phone guy?" Jack asked.

"He installed the app on my phone," Sarah explained.

"Wait, Chuck just doesn't do that," Molly said, pointing an accusatory finger at Sarah.

"Mistress Sarah!" C3PO said again.

"What?" she asked, pulling the phone out.

"It's Master Chuck," the droid voice said, sounding worried. "He's… he's quite upset, and he has left Orion… quickly."

"Threepio," Sarah began, worry in her voice. "Is he okay?"

"Physically, yes. Emotionally… I don't think so. There was a lot of yelling from his father." Sarah stood up. "He is heading this direction."

"Uh, Darlin', you might wanna hold off telling the kid the truth-"

"Dad, I love him. I was just screwing with Molly. But if he's had a fight with his dad, and I think I know why," Sarah said. She trailed off, shaking her head. "This is not good."

"You love him?" Molly asked softly. Sarah nodded, thinking about Chuck. Molly stood and came around the table to her sister. Sarah gave her a confused look. "You really love him."

"Yes," Sarah replied, and then she was being squeezed by her sister in a tight embrace.

"YES!" Molly shouted, picking her sister up and spinning her. "I knew you two would be so good together."

"Mistress Sarah, he's here," C3PO told her. There was a knock on the door.

"Well don't just stand there, go to him," Emma told Sarah. Sarah walked over to the door and opened it.

He stood there, his eyes red from tears, anger and sorrow mixed together on his face. "Sarah, I'm sorry," he said in a jagged breath. "I know you weren't expecting me, but I don't know where else to go." She heard Jack stand as he pushed his chair back.

"Chuck, it's fine, this is exactly where you belong," she said, pulling him into a hug. "What happened, baby?"

"Did you hear that?" Molly asked her mother, nearly bouncing. "She called him baby!"

"Shhh!" Emma admonished.

"He knew," Chuck said in a low voice. Sarah pulled away and looked him in his eyes. "My father knew about the hard drives."

A/N: And that's the angstiest this fic gets folks. What? You're still here? Oh, I know what you want.

"You don't have to do all of this for me," Chuck insisted. "I'm sorry, I've ruined your family dinner."

"CHARLES," Emma began.

"Epp!" Chuck squeaked. Emma looked at Sarah and Jack.

"Irving," Jack offered. Sarah gave Jack a look. "What? It was on the papers for him to get paid."

"IRVING BARTOWSKI!" Emma continued.

"Welp, I got a brother," Molly groused.

"I still don't have a dog," Sarah reminded her.
