When Henry stepped into the room for a second time he approached the bed smiling as his hand cupped Eddie's. They both looked right at the older man, "Morning. How are you feeling Eddie," Henry whispered softly.
"Hmm tired but better then yesterday. It's so early, I can't believe you came all the way up here. How long have you been here," Eddie slowly stretched as best she could but immediately settled back in Jamie's arms.
Smiling with a wave of his hand Henry replied, "I came when I heard. Had to make sure you were okay. You rest and listen to the doctor. I'm still only a phone call away. But for now what can I have the nurses bring in for breakfast? Have to keep up your strength."
Jamie knew better then to argue with his grandfather smiled, "Thanks Pop. Um I'll take coffee and whatever Eddie is having. They'll probably give her something healthy until they're sure she's okay." Seeing the look on her face he added, "It's what's best Eddie."
Letting out a small grunt she lay on his chest quietly while Henry left to grab a nurse. Thanks didn't seem like enough for Henry to come all the way up just so he could check on Eddie so when the nurse changed her iv Jamie took his grandpa outside in the hall. "I didn't mean for you to come up here in the middle of the night Pop."
"Nonsense Jamie and don't even finish that sentence. Eddie is family and I would be by her side just as I would anyone else in the family," Henry waved off the apology. "And you better call me jf there's anything either of you need. I mean it. I'll check in with you later."
Smiling amused yet knowing how pissed his grandpa would be if they didn't call him Jamie went back to Eddie's side. A nurse brought in a simple breakfast until they were sure her blood pressure remained steady. "This food is worse then hospital food. I feel fine Jamie, can't I go home," she sighed.
"Not until the doctor says so we'll be for a few days. You should be able to eat regular food soon," Jamie put an arm around her. "Since we're here why don't we talk about baby names. "
Setting the burnt toast back down on the tray with a pinched face Eddie wiped her hands. "Yeah sure since we aren't going anywhere. I've been thinking of a few names that I liked have you? We'll need a few for each."
"Yeah, I was thinking something of my mom or grandma's name for a girl, Mary or Betty Rose and Joe's name if we have a boy," Jamie studied her. "What names were you thinking of?"
Eddie's eyes reflected thoughtfully, "I like those a lot. I was also thinking of Sofia for a girl, Alex for a boy. Those are my two favorites. Maybe Edith for a girl which is similar to Edit after my grandma. I'm still thinking of other boys names but we can definitely name our son after your brother."
"What do you think we're having? I heard women kind of know whether they're having a boy or girl," Jamie finished writing all the names on a pad by Eddie's bed.
A moment of silence passed before Eddie replied, "I honestly have no clue but that's fine. I didn't even know we were having twins. Oooh speaking of, think they weren't impressed with the breakfast either. I'd really love a bacon and eggs croissant," Eddie batted her eyes at him.
"No," Jamie chuckled. He lowered his head and kissed her softly. "Not until the doctor says. I am not taking any chances and the eyes do not work for me."
They interlocked fingers over Eddie's stomach quietly feeling the gentle kicks of their twins while Eddie pouted. The breakfast was disguising and she hated hospitals. They were so gray and dull. Even with Jamie staying with her Eddie hoped the doctor released her soon.
Good to his word Doctor Travis kept Eddie and the twins under observation for several days before releasing her to strict bed rest. She said nothing until Jamie settled her in their bedroom with the remote. "Seriously? Jamie, I can't just sit and watch television all day for four months. I'll be bored in a day," Eddie complained.
"Actually, if you want to be technical Eddie, it's only three months left and unless you want to go back to the hospital yes you will." Jamie sat on the bed softer when her face changed to shock. "Eddie, you three are the most important people in my life. I am not risking anything happening to you. I have to work tomorrow but I can get Pop to come up and hang out with you."
She scoffed, "I don't need a babysitter. I'm just not made to sit around and do anything," Eddie cupped underneath her large stomach. "Although I can think of one thing we can do. Exercise is good for my health."
Jamie cracked a smile, "Later. Right now rest. Let's watch a movie. I have a special one picked out for you " Taking the remote he flipped through channels to on demand and pressed play on my videos. The beginning started playing commercials for upcoming releases, followed by a picture of a boat on the water. Eric stood on the edge watching over his steering wheel grinning.
"The Little Mermaid. It's my favorite movie," Eddie exclaimed. "Thank you Jamie." She kissed his cheek, happily settling to watch.
The only time Jamie left her side was to cook dinner which he brought in the bedroom to eat while they talked. "I just realized we still need a stroller," Eddie ate up all the spaghetti not just from hunger but after eating hospital food she was glad to have a home cooked meal.
"Let's look for one after we finish and I can either pick it up or we can have it delivered," Jamie replied, eating slower smiling. "A nice size double with a cover for bad weather and when it's sunny. We ordered the basinets right? And the car seats?"
Nodding she started sitting up to put her plate away, Jamie took it before she could. "Yeah we did. I saw a nice stroller on that one site. " Eddie reached for the laptop to show Jamie while he finished eating. "This one is nice and it isn't expensive."
"Order it. I'm just going to wash these." Jamie brought their dirty dishes into the sink for a good wash. He sighed, already running out of ideas to keep Eddie busy and she wasn't home for a day yet.
When he returned she smiled already setting the laptop apart. "Jamie, I know I've been crazy lately and I don't know why. I feel like crazy with these feelings I'm having. If the doctor thinks bedrest is best I have no choice. What a time to stop going to school huh. "
"It's just the hormones Eddie but I understand. We'll figure out how to keep from driving yourself nuts. I love you." They closed in, her hand cupping behind his arm before sliding down to cup him gently. He shifted back with Eddie over not breaking the kiss.
Jamie pressed both hands against her round bottom, moving in as they quickly and wordlessly discarding the barriers. Holding her in place he switched so she sat up while he slowly matched her rhythm . His arms wrapped around her waist as they sat belly to belly, eyes meeting slowly his own adoringly.
Their breaths gasped so involved neither heard the soft knocking at first. Eddie's arms draped over Jamie's shoulders, slowly rubbing over his muscular shoulders. She tilted her head back and gasped louder, "Jamie!"
A fourth and fifth knock tapped faster and louder from the open bedroom door so it finally reached them. "Oh crap who is visiting at this hour? Think Pop came by to check in on us," Eddie met Jamie's eyes, breathing harder.
"No it's past Pop's bedtime," Jamie held onto his wife and breathed hard as they finally finished together. "I'm coming. Stay here Eddie. If you hear anything call for help okay? Do not leave the bedroom no matter what."
She rounded her eyes, watching him throw on sweat pants and a tshirt. He took his off duty piece held down and gave her a warning look when another knock tapped. "Eddie do not move. Call for help and stay quiet." Before she responded he was gone.
Another louder lock tapped the door impatiently by whoever was on the other side. Jamie held his piece down ready in case he needed to protect his family, approaching the door slowly. Taking in a deep breath he peeked out the small peep hole only able to see a white shirt.
"Whose there," he demanded firmly holding one finger by the trigger. Not only was it bad timing but they weren't expecting anyone. Not now.
The house fell quiet now allowing him to listen for the answer from their surprise visitor. His dad still hadn't contacted them to make amends and Danny was working late on a case. His sister hasn't come to visit or even text so Jamie knew it wasn't Erin.
"Whose there before I call the cops," he demanded a little louder with the same firm tone as the first time.
The person answered and it was the last one he'd guess. "It's Lena Janko."
