Harley - 16 / Peter - 15 / Morgan - 7 | TonyxPepper
Description - Morgan and Harley are taken by Ultron to Sokovia, and when the city is flying and no one has seen them, Tony and Peter assumed the worst and are close to giving up hope. This is a request and I am so sorry it has taken me so long to write! I hope this is what you wanted!
The Avengers, Maria Hill; Peter, an honourary avenger, Harley and Morgan were all sat around Moljner. They were seeing who could pick it up. Tony insisted the physics of the hammer prohibited him from being able to pick it up which made everyone chuckle. A few more people attempted including Steve and Bruce but were unsuccessful. It was Pete's turn when the elevator dinged and a battered machine stumbled in, mumbling. Everyone went to stand up, Peter's spidey sense going off like crazy while quickly equipping his web-shooters. Harley was quick to scoop Morgan into his arms and backing up behind his dad to try and get out of the way, Tony attempted to also push Peter back but was met with defiance.
Peter sensed the incoming machines before they shot through the wall, yelling for people to get down as he rugby tackled Morgan and Harley,
"Get to the stairs, go hide, I'll cover you," Peter yelled to Harley who was taken by surprise but was quick to respond, wrapping Morgan tightly in his arms and bolting to the stairs. He heard lots of fighting and bangs as he ran but had faith that Peter would protect them which was reassured when Peter webbed them up to avoid an incoming blast.
They made it to the stairs quickly, Harley heard the doors being webbed shut but couldn't hear any loud blasts from that close and so assumed Peter had taken care of the ones that were close to them. Harley quickly made the decision to head upstairs to put the most distance between them and his dad's lab. Morgan was crying slightly into his neck, she was tired, confused and scared and frankly, so was Harley. They ran up many flights of stairs until the sound of fighting was faint and Harley deemed it safe to stay on the floor. Sighing heavily Harley pushed the door to the floor open and put Morgan down, they started to walk down the hall when Harley heard a loud smash to the right and could only watch as a bot crashed through the window, releasing a gas before the world faded to black.
The fight was over relatively quickly given how many bots there were. Everyone was stood in shock, the attack had taken them very off-guard and the floor was destroyed, Peter was the first to come back to his senses,
"JARVIS?" Peter shouted,
No reply,
"When Ultron said he had killed someone..." Maria Hill spoke up from next to the destroyed couch,
"JARVIS was the first line of defence, he must've taken him down," Tony said, rubbing his eyes with his hand,
"Harley, Morgan..." Peter muttered before taking off to the stairs, ripping the door open despite the mountain of webs, and sprinting up the stairs. He heard several pairs of feet behind him but ignored them if he knew Harley he would've made sure they were a safe distance away but Morgan would be scared and he would've been tired so he wouldn't have gone to the top. Peter kept running until his senses suddenly alerted him to a smell coming from 1 flight up, the smell made Peter's skin crawl and he suddenly felt very tired but he pushed through it, throwing the door open and unleashing a foggy room,
"Extractor fans on," Peter coughed through the gas, his eyelids incredibly heavy as the fans came on, thankfully they had been more voice-controlled rather than JARVIS activated. Peter could finally make out what was in front of him when Tony, Nat and Steve ran into the room. Peter had clocked the broken window by now and paired with the gas had a good idea what happened but couldn't explain before he was falling to the floor.
Tony was quick to catch Peter before he hit the ground, he beckoned Steve over to pick him up which Steve did without question,
"I think it's just a sleep drug but take him to the med bay to just make sure," Tony said, clearly stressed,
"What are you gonna do?" Steve asked,
"Find out where my kids are," Tony said while pushing past the super soldier and spy. Steve looked worried but took Peter to the med bay while Nat ran to go help, Tony.
Peter woke up a few hours later, his metabolism eating through the effects quicker than ordinary people, he woke up dazed and confused, his brain was foggy but started to piece bits back together as he adjusted to his surroundings. No one was in the med bay so no one stopped Peter getting out of bed, no one helped him when he stumbled and fell or told him to get back in bed when he walked as fast as he could out the doors and to his dad's lab,
"Peter what are you doing here, you should still be in bed," Nat said upon seeing the spider stumble through the door,
"Screw staying in bed, where are Harley and Morgan?" Peter insisted he looked scared.
No one talked for a few seconds, the silence toxic.
"...We don't know." Tony finally muttered from the corner, tear streaks staining his cheeks. It was the three words which finally made Peter collapse to the side, sliding down a unit. Tears came thick and fast but they were silent,
"It was my fault," Peter sobbed through the tears,
"No it wasn't Pete, it was Ultron," Steve reassured,
"But I MADE Ultron. It was MY fault!" Tony shouted, swiping a stack of paper off his desk,
"Yeah but I told Harley to take Morgan upstairs, I webbed the door shut and assumed they were fine I didn't go with them to make sure they were!" Peter retorted, pulling his knees to his chest while Nat slid down next to him, trying to reassure him,
"It was nobody's fault, Tony you were trying to help us, you didn't know it would turn out like this and Peter you thought you were saving them, anyone would've assumed they'd have been safe upstairs," Nat insisted, rubbing circles on Peter's back. Peter nor Tony said anything, silently disagreeing.
After 5 minutes of sitting on the floor and letting his tears calm down, Peter got up and slumped himself into a desk chair, pulling up files and information Nat had minimised,
"What you doing baby Spider?" Nat asked, standing behind Peter,
"I can't just sit there and do nothing, we need to find them," Peter stated, hurriedly hacking into SHIELD to see if there was any useable or useful information. Everyone else also got back to work; no one minding Peter's involvement, they all knew he wouldn't stop.
Days passed and leads were followed, fights were fought but no Morgan or Harley were found. Many nights consisted of just Tony and Peter staring at information unblinkingly and neither had eaten or slept in days. Pepper was just as worried, of course, he was, but she also knew that if they didn't take care of themselves that they'd miss something important due to malnutrition or exhaustion. This is why she stood in the elevator, the doors pinging as she stepped off and advanced towards her son and husband,
"Ok, you two need to go upstairs, eat, drink and sleep," Pepper demanded.
Her statement was met with silence and with no sign that they'd even heard her. Pepper went to Peter, spinning his chair away from the desk,
"Upstairs, now, there's a plate of pizza on the counter," Pepper said loud and clear,
"I can't!" Peter protested, trying to pull himself back to the desk. Pepper blocked him with her foot,
"You either go upstairs now and take care of yourself or you're not allowed to look for them, Nat can keep searching while you eat and sleep now go," Pepper instructed, she hated doing this to Peter and she wanted to find her kids more than anything but she was still his mother and she couldn't afford to crumble when her son and husband were already in ruins.
Peter sighed and complained but begrudgingly left, he didn't plan on being gone long and he convinced himself that being more awake would rise his chance of finding them. Pepper was then left to deal with Tony who hadn't spared a glance at the exchange between her and Peter,
"Tony-" Pepper began,
"I'm not going anywhere," Tony interrupted, tapping something into his computer,
"Tony being in this state isn't helping anyone, least of all Harley and Morgan," Pepper reasoned, closing the distance between her and Tony,
"But what if the answer is right here, what if it'll be too late, what if they are suffering and their dad can't even save them, I can't go Pep, I can't," Tony insisted, briefly making eye contact with Pepper,
"And what if the answer is right here but you can't see it because of your state, what if you keep going is making it worse for them, come on Tony. Just eat something and sleep for an hour, just an hour," Pepper compromised. Tony finally locked eyes with her, pondering what she said before solemnly getting up and heading toward the elevator.
Listen I'm not gonna write out the whole of age of Ultron lmao, you know what happened
The days between Pepper making them sleep and being stood in Sokovia passed in a blur. Peter barely felt present when he webbed Nat from the truck that would have certainly taken her to Ultron, he couldn't focus, he felt constantly sick knowing his siblings were in danger and as the days passed he knew their chances of being alive or them ever finding them dwindled.
When the ground started to shake, Peter dismissed it as a minor earthquake, nothing to distract him from the task of taking down bots. When the ground started to rise, he knew something was up but again dismissed it, sure it would settle itself. When they were 100 feet above the ground and rising, Peter took notice. When Peter was flung off the side and a last-minute web was all that saved him from certain death, he noticed and decided to bring it up,
"Ok, why the hell are we flying?" Peter asked through the comms, taking off the head of a bot,
"Ultron wants to take out the planet, apparently this is the most effective way to do it," Tony filled in, he sounded out of breath, "You doing ok kid?"
"Yeah fine," Peter quickly replied before webbing an elderly man out of the way of a falling boulder. While doing this, however, he failed to notice the blast aimed for him until it met its target and blasted the spiderling into the air, he tried to catch himself or soften his landing but alas landed haphazardly on a mound of debris.
Peter winced getting up but quickly dismissed feelings of pain when he saw the great sight that was the helicarrier, he heard someone telling him to get people aboard as quick as he could which is complied to immediately, webbing groups of people and taking them in waves.
It was 5 minutes before he heard his dad call over the comms for everyone. Peter deposited the last people in his area to the helicarrier before swinging off, landing beside Natasha as she walked to the rest of the Avengers. Peter took a stand just behind Thor, mentally rolling his eyes at Ultron's dramatics but respecting the puns.
The fight came thick and fast, robot after robot Peter struck down until out the corner of his eye he could see his dad, Thor and the vision pinning down Ultron with their lasers. Peter rapidly followed and skidded to a halt as they lowered their blasts,
"Where the hell are Harley and Morgan," Peter's voice was low and dangerous,
"Who? Oh right, the slightly older one and the little one," Ultron replied, nonchalantly,
"Don't play games with me, Where. Are. They."
"Now why would I tell you that? I'll be honest I'd rather die knowing your squirming with guilt than die without leaving a mark, then again, I could also live and know-" Ultron was cut off as Peter sent a powerful punch to Ultron's head, sending him flying. Peter felt the tears underneath the mask and was grateful no one could see,
"Pete-" Tony started but Peter took off, he didn't know where he was going but knew the rest of the team could handle whatever.
Peter swung to the outskirts of the destroyed, flying city, everywhere was deserted which he was glad for, he didn't want anyone to die. He sat on a desolate bench that was half missing and pulled his mask off, rubbing his head in his hands. He was giving up hope. He hated himself for it but he knew the chance of finding them alive was already slim.
So when his spidey sense picked up and his eyes glanced toward an almost unscathed warehouse-type building, he was wary, it was probably just some random civilian. The ground shook beneath his feet as he slipped his mask back on and several voices rung in his ears. He couldn't focus on his spider-sense with the noise but his gut was telling him to follow it,
"Pete! Get on the Helicarrier NOW!" Peter heard Tony shout. Peter could hear his concern, something big was going on and he knew that this may be his only chance of escape,
"Are you onboard?" Peter asked, edging toward the building,
"No, but-" Peter cut Tony off,
"Are you planning on getting on?" Peter's voice didn't waiver once,
"...I don't know," Tony uttered out,
"Well then, I guess we die trying or live in guilt eh," Peter cracked out, a small laugh in his voice,
"PETER GET ON THE HELECARRIER,"
"I'll try, I promise, I just have to check something first," Peter didn't shout, his voice was deadly calm as he muted his dad's shouts and pushed open the door to the warehouse.
What he saw didn't shock him, he might've even dismissed it entirely and left if it wasn't for his spider-sense prodding him to keep going. The ground started to shake more and Peter pretended not to notice, he was wary but moving fast, his stomach churning. He rounded a corner and was faced with a dead-end corridor with a metal door to the left, the whole building had been deserted and yet the door that couldn't of lead anywhere remained closed.
Peter drew closer to the door, his breath hitched as he heard 2 sets of breathing and took a deep breath before trying the door. It was locked but he heard the breathing inside the room stop for a second,
"Is anyone in there?" Peter shouted out, he knew there was but he didn't know if he was playing tricks on himself, his heart was beating hard inside his chest,
"Peter?" A voice called out as the ground began to crack. It was all Peter needed to hear as he ripped off the door and came face to face with his brother and sister. They looked unharmed although slightly malnourished. Both of them had stood up at hearing Peter's voice and launched themselves at him when he had broken down the door,
"My god I missed you guys," Peter breathed into Harley's shoulder while he wrapped an arm around Morgan. The moment was sweet lived as the ground between them cracked and Peter fell back to the person he was weeks ago before Harley and Morgan's capture.
"Right ok, Harley, pick up Morgan and hold onto me tight, I'll web you to me so you can't fall off but still hold tight ok, you too Mor," Morgan and Harley nodded and wasted no time in gripping on tightly, Peter webbed them to him just as he felt as if going down a large hill in a fast car, his stomach dropped and he saw the frightened look in his sibling's eyes. He knew Sokovia was falling but he'd be dammed if he let his siblings get hurt.
Peter took off without warning, dodging the parts of the building falling, he made it out the door quickly but the chaos wasn't much less outside. Peter's spidey sense was blinding as he, sprinting as fast as he could, dashed across the city, he knew he wouldn't be fast enough and kept close to the edge so when he was warned, dived off the edge of the flying city, immediately deploying his web wings and doing as best he could to weave through the debris, he got a few grazes and the smoke was intoxicating but the sight of the helicarrier spurred him on.
The blast had given him upthrust but it would be close as to whether he could actually land on the Helicarrier. Harley was terrified as they glided, burying his head into Peter and holding Morgan who was buried into him close to shield them both from the smoke, debris and experience as a whole. Peter honestly wasn't sure if their dad had made it but hoped with his whole heart that he was and hadn't died thinking all three of his children were also dead.
Tony had a tight escape after disintegrating Sokovia, he knew it was a disaster for many but that it saved many more. Tony had landed on the Helicarrier shortly after the rest of the avengers, surprisingly mainly unscathed, but he wasn't worried about them,
"Has anyone seen Peter?" Tony asked frantically, shaking Clint awake from the seats he was laying across, nobody replied.
"Come on, has anyone seen Spider-Man?!" Tony yelled to anyone who could hear. An elderly man stepped forward and shakily raised a finger, pointed behind Tony. Tony was frustrated but looked as the lumbered form of Spiderman shot from the clouds of smoke, descending to the Helicarrier and sloppily landing on his back, two forms tucked into him.
Tony wasted no time in skidding to a halt next to Peter who was cutting his webs with a small pocket knife and releasing the two people who rolled away and revealed themselves to Tony,
"Honestly Pete, a bit bumpy," Harley muttered out, rubbing where his elbow had hit the side of the Helicarrier,
"Harley? Morgan?" Tony asked hesitantly, unsure if this was real. Harley's eyes shot open and he locked eyes with his dad while Morgan sat up quickly and attacked Tony with a hug,
"Dad!" Harley joined Morgan in hugging Tony. Peter took the time to adjust himself, he wasn't hurt just slightly scuffed up and minor smoke inhalation but nothing he wouldn't overcome in a matter of hours. He was sitting up when someone attacked him from the side. Peter opened his eyes to see Nat gripping him tightly,
"Don't scare me like that baby spider," Nat muttered into his hair,
"Sorry mama spider, I sensed them, I couldn't leave them," Peter reasoned back, "How did you get off?"
"Hulk," Nat replied curtly, she hid emotions well but Peter knew when she was upset and didn't pry further. Harley and Morgan had broken from their hug and were telling Tony about what had happened. Nat had retreated to see Clint, leaving Peter to awkwardly stand, grabbing Tony's attention who had wrapped up the conversation with Harley. Tony took 2 large steps forward and grabbed Peter into a bone-crushing hug,
"I thought you were dead,"
"We thought they were dead, and I thought I was losing you," Peter reasoned back which made Tony hug him tighter,
"Next time just do as I say,"
"Can't promise it, dad," The two laughed slightly as they parted before taking a seat with Harley and Morgan.
The evening was spent with lots of hugging, talking and eating before merging into a movie marathon night. Peter was the first to fall into the depths of sleep followed quickly by Tony and Morgan. Pepper and Harley were snuggled next to Tony and Morgan who had her head on Peter who was a slight jolt away from falling off the sofa,
"I missed you all so much," Harley muttered as Jonny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Jack Davenport duelled on a giant wheel,
"We missed you too, Harles your brother and dad were tearing themselves apart looking for you, we all love you very much,"
"I know, I just wish it had never happened, it was more annoying than scary to be fair, they never talked to us," Harley's eyes never left the TV,
"I know it was scary Harles, trust me I've been there," Pepper joked, "But it gets better, trust me it gets better and knowing you have 2 badass superheroes protecting you will help you, I mean I'm sure Peter and Tony will help too but you know," Pepper smirked prying a chuckle from Harley,
"Thanks, mum," Harley smiled before burying into Pepper and falling into oblivion.
