Blue Heaven
Chapter 12
The first few weeks were rough with Jasper gone. I worked on setting up my computers, furnishing some of the house and exploring town before I started work.
Roaming around town I found some great book stores, antique shops and restaurants. I knew Jasper would enjoy them when he was home.
Skyping with my family on a daily basis is what kept me sane. I hadn't really gotten out to meet many people since it felt wrong without Jasper.
"Bella, you need to make some friends. It's not good for you to stay cooped up." Mom repeated herself daily.
"I know, I just feel wrong. I'm supposed to do these things with my husband." I sighed.
"Bells, how about Rose and I come out this weekend?" Emmett suggested.
"What? Seriously?" I was so excited.
"Yeah, we're free. We'll fly in on Friday night. I'll book a flight as soon as we hang up." Emmett smiled.
"That would be great! I have the guestroom all fixed up and you can break in the T.V. you bought." I laughed.
"You haven't used it?" he gasped.
"No, I usually watch TV in bed or in my office." I shrugged.
"We're changing that this weeked." he nodded.
We all said our goodbyes and blew kisses. I was suddenly looking forward to our weekend.
Rose sent me a text saying they were at baggage claim and I excitedly pulled away from the parking area and drove to the pick up lines. I was so happy to have my family here, even if it was only a couple of them.
"Bella, look at you! You've lost so much weight!" Emmett frowned.
"I know, I only eat when I think about it, working as much as I can and then running when I'm bored." I shrugged.
"Well, we're going to eat this weekend!" Emmett laughed. I nodded and felt better already.
"I love what you've done to the place." Rose said sarcastically.
"I don't want to get too settled." I shrugged. "Just because we're here for a while doesn't mean I want all my furniture to be this style. Maybe our actual home will be different."
"Bella, you can sell whatever you don't want to take. Make yourself at home, you'll feel better." Rose hugged me tight.
"Maybe you're right."
"It's Rose, of course she is!" Emmett gushed and we all laughed.
"Well, I do have the guestroom set up, wanna see?" I nodded my head towards the stairs.
The bedroom was painted a light grey like a few of the other rooms, and since I really didn't want to paint on my own, I left it and bought a simple grey reclaimed wood headboard and decorated it in white and grey bedding. I bought a couple of pictures to hang on the walls, a couple of plants to add some color and set up our old 32" TV.
"Well, at least there's 'art' on the walls." Rose glared at me.
"Rose, what did I tell you?" I rolled my eyes.
"Sorry, you know it's in my blood to decorate. Alice and Esme would have pulled you to the store by now and had this place redone top to bottom." she smiled at me.
"I know, that's why I'm glad you and Emmett came out first. I'm having a really hard time making this place feel like home, especially without Jasper."
"I'm sorry. I just can't help myself." she shrugged.
"Okay, get settled in and then come downstairs so we can figure out what to do for dinner."
We decided on Tun Tavern. It was close and Emmett said he wanted a good burger and some beer.
We sat at a booth in the back and decided to have a drink before we ordered to relax.
"This is so frustrating." I said out loud, Emmett and Rose looking at me like I'd lost my mind. "He's literally a few hundred feet from me and I can't see him." I started tearing up.
"Bella." my head shot up and Emmett and Rose were grinning.
"Jasper?" I gasped and jumped into his arms. "How?"
"I got a dinner pass. Emmett and I planned this." he shrugged.
We kissed ourselves senseless until a voice cleared. It was the waitress. We sat down in the booth and gave her our orders, laughing as she walked off.
I couldn't stop staring at Jasper. He looked tired, but stronger. His face had aged, but in a good way...it was harder, but soft when he looked at me, all his love shining in his eyes.
Dinner was over too soon. I walked him to the gate and gave him a kiss he wouldn't forget.
"I love you Bella. Two more weeks and we get a weekend, and don't think for a second that you'll be leaving the house. I've got plans for you." Jasper grinned mischievously and kissed me softly before leaving, looking back once more to blow me a kiss.
"Well someone is in a good mood." Rose smiled as I walked back into the tavern.
"Thank you guys so much!" I was gushing.
"Anything to make my sister happy." Emmett smiled.
The weekend was great, especially with my improved mood. We explored all day and then watched movies and ordered out for dinner.
Driving them to the airport I was as sad as I had been before they came, but I knew I'd see Jasper in just a couple of weeks and I was going to give him a weekend to rival our honeymoon.
