Lloyd POV: Renata betraying Shamus and throwing Kai, along with Shamus, in the Sands was completely unexpected. But what was even more unexpected was what happened afterwards.
She had just thrown and the portal closed, with her smiling sadistically at where it used to be.
Nya screamed and rushed at her. She jumped and drove her spear down. Renata backed away and let her hit the floor. Nya's floor split the floor and she pulled it out, swinging at her. Renata again just simply stepped to the side to avoid the attack. Cole joined her and tried to surprise her from behind with a punch. But she somehow knew he was there and ducked.
But I managed to be faster than her and tackled her before she could stand up. I managed to tie her hands, and it was in that moment that I realized that she was still smiling.
"Now you can't do anything." I said, while Cole walked over and helped him stand her up.
"It doesn't matter anymore. I've already done what I needed to do." she responded, laughing slightly.
Nya then grabbed her, slammed her against the nearest wall, and basically yelled, "And that included throwing my brother in a death maze!"
"It was the only way the portal would open. It was an acceptable loss I can live with." her smile growing wider.
I could sense that Nya was getting angrier by that statement, so was I in a way. But before she could do anything I tapped her shoulder and she backed off.
At that moment Jay and Zane ran in and saw what was happening.
"What happened?" Zane asked.
"We got here, Kai freed himself with a knife that Sunami left while she was here, but Renata here betrayed Shamus and threw them both in." Cole said. Jay went to Nya's side and comforted her.
"That doesn't make any sense. Silas was completely loyal to the Shadow King, and that should mean that she was too." Zane said, thinking .
"I would have been if he was a real king." Renata said.
I turned to her and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Shamus stole the throne from the real king. He tarnished this rule by creating the pathetic Sands, and wasting our time for his entertainment. But I couldn't just attack him, I could have been executed. So I had to pretend to support him until I had a chance to give him the greatest ironic demise." she said, laughing a little harder.
"And that would be?" Cole asked.
"Dying in his precious Sands's monsters." Then she burst into an insane laughter. Okay, she has clearly lost it.
"Well, now we need to open the Sands again. Do you know how?" Zane asked.
"As if I would have you reverse my plans. Never." she said, viciously.
Great, that's just perfect.
"Well, if you wouldn't help us. Maybe one of those guys outside will tell us." Jay said.
"Hah, you won't have any luck. They're lower levels that know almost nothing. They can't even open the main gates without help." Renata said, her creepy smile returning.
"Silas isn't." Nya said. Renata looked at her with worry and shock clearly all over her face.
"Okay, Zane. contact the prison and tell them that we need to talk to Silas again. Cole and Jay, stay here and wait for the police to arrive. Also be prepared for instructions on how to open the Sands. The rest of us will go see Silas." they all nodded in agreement.
Renata roared in anger and tried to attack me. However, Cole reacted fast and hit the back of her neck. Knocking her out before she could do anything.
"Thanks, Cole." I said.
"No problem. Now let's get Kai and Sunami back." he said, setting her up against the wall.
I nodded and we ran off towards the Bounty. Hopefully Silas will help us, because if he doesn't then we have no other way to get them back.
