Chapter 14
Hey there I know I was kinda quick on my previous chapter and if some of it was confusing.
But hopefully this chapter will make sense. If it makes sense.
Now let's get into the story.
I don't own Adventure Time or any of the characters except my OC.
Near the edge of the border of the Fire kingdom. The group is near the border to the Fire Kingdom. The group were prepared for the upcoming battle in the Fire Kingdom. Phoebe on the other hand did not like the idea of going back to a place that she once called home, but to her it was a place that kept her imprisoned for fourteen years throughout her childhood. But soon it will be a prison for her father and Eldur.
Finn could tell that Phoebe is angry even with her shielding covering her face, he could tell that the closer they get to the Fire Kingdom. The more tense the air got around her and her gauntlets started to show a bit of flames coming out.
Bonnie and Marceline notice this too, but they dare not to intervene or to talk about it. Finn decided to speak up.
" Hey….Pheeb" Getting her attention as they kept walking" Are you okay? Because your gauntlets are beginning to light up" Finn asked Phoebe as Finn wanted to calm her down so she doesn't hurt herself or burn herself.
Phoebe then gave him a smile to show him that she was okay" Yeah, I'm okay Finn. you don't have to worry so much, okay" Phoebe said as she told him not to worry.
Finn smiles but he is still concerned for her as the tanses air still linger around her.
The rest of the walk to the Fire Kingdom was quiet all the way.
The group saw the border of the Fire Kingdom but they noticed something was off. There are no Flame Guards, patrolling the borders. The group walk a bit further until they see Flambo running towards them as he didn't look like he was panting for air like last time.
" Flambo?" Finn stared at the little flambit stood in front of the group as he had this worried look on his face" Flambo, if you're gonna tell us about the war going on in the Fire Kingdom. We already know." Finn told Flambo.
Flambo was sort of surprised by this, as he was about to warn him about the civil war going down in the Fire Kingdom.
" Really? Well that's a good thing, I didn't have to run across ooo to find you" Flambo chuckled a bit. " But I have other news that you might not know about," Flambo said, getting the group curious.
Phoebe then spoke up" what else is happening in the Fire Kingdom?" Phoebe asked Flambo if something must've happened or changed. Maybe her brother must've started the assault onto the Palace. " is my brother Flint isn't beginning his assault?" Phoebe asked once again.
Flambo shook his head" Nope, your brother is still planning his counter assault and the Flame King is just waiting in his fire palace as he sends his soldiers to capture Flint, but that is not going well for the Flame King armies. And Eldur is still planning to kill you Finn" Flambo said as he frowned as he mentioned Eldur's name.
The group also frowned when Flambo mentioned Eldur name. But Phoebe gripped her fist as she hated that name, as Eldur was the one who wanted to take away her happiness and kill her boyfriend.
Bonnie then spoke to Flambo" Flambo, how did all this started?" Bonnie asked as her info didn't know how all this civil war started.
Flambo then looked at Bonnie" well it all started as I got back to the Fire Kingdom. The Flame King started to gather his troops for war" Flambo telling the group eyes widened in shock as Phoebe was hoping to be wrong." But then Flint disobeyed his father and the King ordered his troops to arrest him, but he and his troops fled before he could arrest him and headed to one of his fortresses and he is preparing his troops against the Flame King." Flambo said.
The group sort of knew how the fighting started but it was not enough detail what Flambo was giving them.
" Okay, but you got to give us more detail than that Flambo." Finn said to Flambo." Why did Flint and Flame King start fighting each other?" Finn asked the little Flambit.
The other nodded in agreement as they didn't have much time.
Flambo shrugged" I don't know? I wasn't there when the whole fight started. I just got back and everybody was just fighting and I just heard they were fighting each other." Flambo said.
The group then sigh, but they all look at the border of the Fire Kingdom. They all thank Flambo with the little detail that he gave them and they headed straight to the Fire Kingdom.
Flambo waves at them as they disappear into the distance as they walk into the Fire Kingdom.
The group stepped into the Fire kingdom as it was stated before there were no guards patrolling the borders of the Fire Kingdom. They were probably called back to the Palace to defend it or they'll be with Flint's armys. That is probably what they were guessing.
The four walked further into the Fire Kingdom as Bonnie, Finn and Phoebe fire-suit are working. They feel no heat coming from the environment. But heat doesn't affect Marceline as count being a vampire, she is immune to the elements of fire.
The group stopped as Bonnie pulled out a holographic map showing the entire landscape of the Fire Kingdom.
" Okay, this is where we are" Bonnie pointed at the blanking yellow dot." and this is where Flint is" Bonnie then pointed at the blue dot." And this is where the Flame King and Eldur are" Bonnie pointed at a red dot blinking in the Fire Kingdom palace.
Finn, Phoebe and Marcy look at the holographic map. Flint blinking light is not far from them and FK blinking light is a little bit far from them. Bonnie put her map away in her bags.
" Okay, Flint is not far from our location. Let's hope he is in a friendly mood and seeking our help" bonnie said as she didn't have much detail on him and Phoebe didn't get the time to know her brother and her other siblings that she never knew.
The group headed towards Flint location as they looked around and noticed a bunch of craters as the craters are still smoking as they assume a battle took place here and it wasn't long ago then they heard explosions ahead of them. That's where Flint location is, the group looked at each for a bit and ran to the sound of the explosions.
The group headed to the sound of the explosions and they were shocked to see a battle happening. They could see Flint's armies holding their ground against the Flame King's army.
The battle that they saw was bloody, many lives were being taken from this battle and countless soldiers were fighting a war that they didn't want to fight in, countless soldiers fighting for what is right and what is wrong. Finn and Phoebe look at each other as this war started because of them and because of them people are dying and it is their job to stop the further bloodshed that is being spilled.
The Flame King's army retreated, Flint's army stood there in victory, but they some veteran soldiers there as they knew this was a small victory and not to be taken lightly, as they know how wars are fought.
Flint's armies headed back to their fort, but then all the soldiers spotted their former princess of the Fire Kingdom. Nearly all of them kneel down in respect as their former princess has returned to face the Flame King.
Phoebe was shocked to see the soldiers kneeling to her, and the soldiers that didn't bow just scoffed at her, as they just gave her a disgusted look at their former princess.
Finn, Bonnie and Marceline noticed this, and Marceline's eyes glowed red, scaring some of the soldiers that were giving Phoebe the look. One of the soldiers walked towards the princess and bowed.
" Your highness" the soldier still bowing to the former princess." your brother at the fort. He may want to speak to you." the soldier said.
" Take us to him," Phoebe said to the soldier as he nodded. Every soldier headed back to the fort.
The group follows the soldier back to their base, to talk to Flint.
Moments later everybody reaches the base where Phoebe's brother is. Phoebe looked a bit nervous a bit, as this was the first time she talked to her brother.
The same soldier that spoke to Phoebe led them to the fort and led them straight to the war room, where Flint and the other commander officers and strategists were now.
They reached the war room as the soldier went inside the war room first to notify Flint that Phoebe and the other had arrived. They gladly waited outside the war room.
Minutes later they waited and the soldiers came walking out of the war room.
" You may enter princess Phoebe," the soldier told them as he returned to his post. The group enter the war room. The group sees Flint and the other commander, officers and strategists standing near a map of the fire kingdom spread across on a big round table as they were staring at the group entering the war room.
Phoebe and Flint stare at each other for a while as this was their first time seeing eye to eye and up close. Phoebe then decided to speak up first.
" Flint, wow, this is the first time meeting in person" Phoebe said with a slight nervous tone as she spoke to her brother.
" Yeah, same here little sister" Flint replied to Phoebe.
The two siblings stood there, as the both didn't have any words to say. Then Finn broke the silent.
" Flint, we're here to help you against the Flame King" Finn said, getting his attention.
Flint looks at Finn, Marceline and Bonnie." Ah, yes, that's why you're here. As you wanna know, my father is trying to declare war on you, Finn the Human and the rest of ooo." Flint said, as the group knew the war parts. But they wanted to know how it started.
" Okay, we always know those parts, but how did this war started? Why did father want to risk war?" Phoebe asked her brother as she had to know. To know why their father would go to war with Finn and the entire Kingdom of ooo. This she had to know now.
Flint looked at Phoebe, she had to know why Father would want war and how Eldur convinced him to go to war.
" It all started when everybody in the whole Fire Kingdom heard the rumor that you have cast aside your power to become Human to be with a Human" Flint and the other officers look at Finn." Half the Fire Kingdom blame you, Finn, for taking away the princess right to the throne, but the other half were grateful that Phoebe was not following the King footstep, and they were happy that you found someone to spend your life with" Flint said, making Phoebe, Finn and Bonnie and Marcy eyes widen in shock, that half the Fire Kingdom people agreed to Phoebe choice.
" R-really?" Phoebe said in disbelief, as she couldn't believe that her former flame citizen had accepted her decision on being a Human and being with Finn.
Flint nodded" Yes, and the other half was not fond of your relationship with a Human who isn't noble blood of the Fire Kingdom." Flint told Phoebe. " But when they heard that you turned into a Human, they wanted your head for destroying my sister's heritage to the right to the throne and ruin her status as the Princess of the Fire Kingdom. And Eldur managed to convince Father to go to war'' Flint said, making the group give an angry look, as Eldur was the mastermind to the war.
Flint sigh angrily" I tried to convince Father that going to war is foolish and not worth the lives, but then Eldur tried to have me arrested for treason" Flint said in an angry tone.
" So this war started because of Eldur and some Nobles, because they think that Finn should face punishment for not being Noble and destroying my status?" Phoebe said to Flint.
Flint nodded as did the other officer" Yes. But we have no time to argue about that now. We have to find a way to defeat Father and Eldur from continuing their plan" Flint said. If they start arguing now, it just gives Eldur and Flame King more time to prepare for his next assault.
Everybody nodded as Bonnie pulled out a holographic puck onto the table. The puck lit up, showing the full scale map of the Fire Kingdom. Flint and the other officer were surprised and impressed with Bonnie's holographic map.
" Okay, we're here and Eldur and the Flame King are here at the Fire Palace" Bonnie showing the dots where the Flame King and Eldur are at, and the dot where they are." And this is where your troops are at now, and this where the King armies are at" Bonnie pointed where their army stands." Now Flint, what are your plans on defeating the Flame King and Eldur?" Bonnie asked Flint.
Flint rubbed his chin" well my father is waiting for us to make our first move. He and Eldur are trying to wear out our patience. It's clever but this is a fool's work. Our attack plan is trying to flank them. But my scout has reported that the main armies are surrounding the Fire Palace. There's no way to get past them or sneck our way in. So we need a new strategy of attack, and we one fast, the fate of civilian life is in our hands" Flint said as they don't have much time as the holographic map zooms into the Fire Palace.
Bonnie, Phoebe and Flint talk among each other but other officers, commander and strategists start bickering among each other, but Finn and Marceline look at the holographic map and the structure of the Palace and the armies that surrounded it. The possibility of getting in the Palace is impossible and attacking them head on is suicide mission and a dumb plan. Finn noticed that Marceline was looking at the map weirdly, but it looked like she was coming up with a plan.
" Marceline'' Finn getting her attention and also everybody in the war room." look like you got something in mind, Mind telling us?" Finn asked Marcy.
Marceline nodded" Yeah. I remember something during my time in the Fire Kingdom and fooling around there. I remember the previous Ruler of the Fire Kingdom, I forgot her name, it's been awhile, but I remember previous Flame queen using her secret entrance to get into and out of the Palace whenever she want to" Marceline said, making the Phoebe and Flint eyed widen as they never heard of this secret entrance before.
Flint spoke up" Where is this secret entrance you speak of? Where does it lead to?" Flint asked Marcy if they would use this secret entrance to the Fire Palace. They can catch the Flame King and Eldur off guard and the war could be over.
Marceline nodded but sigh" Yes, but the entrance wouldn't open for me when I approached it. I only saw her once, But I saw her Gem glowing and the door opened. I'm guessing it only works for royalties with Gem of the Fire Kingdom?" Marceline said as she explained to them how the secret entrance works.
Flint Groan" Great! If our grandmother is the only one who can get past those doors. (Sigh) We're back at square one" Flint said as he sat down on his chair.
Phoebe sighs with her brother as she is about to put her hand on her face, but she realizes her Gauntlets and her Gems. Phoebe Gasp as everybody in the war room turns their attention towards her.
" Phoebe, what's wrong?" Finn asked.
Phoebe looked at Marcy and spoke" Did her Gems look like these?" Phoebe asked as she pointed at the Gems on her Gauntlets.
Marceline nodded quickly" Yeah, her Gems look like that," Marcy told her." It's good that you kept those things" Marceline said to Phoebe. Marceline looks Flint." Well guess we do have a way in. What is the plan, Flint?" Marcy asked Flint.
Flint smiles as they now have a plan to infiltrate the Palace" Yes, if we use this secret entrance to get into the Palace undetected, we could catch Eldur and the Flame King off guard with a surprise attack." Flint looks towards Finn and his sister." Finn, Phoebe. I need you and your friend to face off the guards in the palace" Finn was about to say no as he didn't want to get his friends hurt, but Flint put his hands up." don't worry Finn. I'll be bringing a platoon with us into the Palace and they will be assisting them on defending your friends. So you don't have to worry" Flint said as he reassured Finn.
Finn's worry was reduced as Flint said that he was bringing a platoon with them to the Palace to protect Bonnie and Marceline. Finn sighed in relief but then spoke again." Then what will we do when we're in the Palace in the meantime?" Finn asked.
Flint gave out a serious look" Me and Phoebe well be facing our father, And you Finn…." Flint looked at Finn with the most serious look that he ever gave" Finn you'll be facing off Eldur and putting an end to him" Flint said making Finn's eyes widen.
" W-wait, you don't mean…" Finn was stopped at mid sentence.
" Yes, you'll have to kill him to put an end to this war" Finn looked at Flint with a shocked expression. Flint sighs as he notices that Finn never took another man's life before." Finn, I know this is a tough choice to make, but it's the only way to make sure that this never happens again" Flint said, making Finn realize. If he lets him live, he'll try to do the same thing again.
Finn then sigh angrily as he had to do it" Ok, ok. I'll do it, but only to put an end to this war" Finn said as he had to make a tough choice. He looked at his hand. Finn slain monsters, the undead, dragons, and evil. But killing a man would be a different experience. Finn gripped his hand as he knew what's going to happen today.
One of the strategists spoke up" My prince," The Strategists getting Flint attention" while you and the other are infiltrating the Palace, me and the commanders and the other officer will do our best to cause a distraction to makes sure the main army away from the Palace giving you more time to take down the King and Eldur" The strategists said.
Flint nodded as Finn, Phoebe, Bonnin and Marceline hesitated a bit, but they understood why. If the guards in the Palace alarm the army outside, it would mean game over for everybody if reinforcements reach the Palace.
" we're ready when you are Prince Flint, just give the order" One of the commanders said as they had hoped to win this war.
Flint looked at his men with a smile" we strike now" Flint slammed his fist on the table as every faded to black, as the one day war was about to begin to decide the fate of the Fire Kingdom.
Hey sorry that took me a month to finish and sorry for the cliffhanger.
