Kataleya lays in her bed, listening to hear if anyones around, but there is only silence.
She slips out of bed and walks over to her door, now that she is at her door she can hear people. As quietly as possible, Kataleya reaches for the door knob, it's cold under her fingers, she turns it open.
"The Capitol children rush to their tv's," Effie says, in Rye's room. She is sitting on the side of the bed, with one light on reading a story to Rye.
Thats very sweet, Kataleya thinks to herself. She had never seen Effie the way she is acting now, at least her parents said she started to warm up to them, but never like this.
After a few moments, Kataleya decides to go downstairs. As Kataleya walks down the hall towards the stairs, she has a strong feeling that Thio is waiting in the lobby again.
She hears a light click off as she gets to the end of the hall, and then a door shuts, Effie starts to walk down the hall towards Kataleya.
Kataleya starts to freak out, but she brings herself to slide into a cupboard.
Effies heels clink together as she walks closer and closer to where Kataleya is hiding. When Effie approaches the cupboard, she peers into the mirror looking at herself.
"I need to get another perm!" Effie whispers, disgusted.
As Effie walks away from the closet mirror, Kataleya lets out a breath she had been holding.
Kataleya slips out of the closet, she looks back down the hall to make sure no one is there before tiptoeing down the stairs.
"There is still time." Katniss says angrily.
"Its too dangerous, we will get in trouble." Peeta replies, in a whisper. A light shines through Katniss and Peeta's room door.
Kataleya presses her body close to the white walls, as she listens to her parents talk.
"But, we could do it." Katniss whispers back, "I swear!"
Kataleya kneels down, but her knees make a cracking noise.
"Wait," Katniss asks, "what was that?"
Kataleya gasps, "Let me check." Peeta says, now walking towards the door. His shadow appears in the light on the floor, Kataleya panics and quickly slips into the room across the hall. Right as she closes the door Peeta opens theirs.
"I guess just a creak in the floor." Peeta says, as he re-enters their room.
Kataleya's heartbeat is fast, so is her breath. Kataleya looks around the room, it is dark but she can make out a bed that is unmade. The bathroom door is closed but the light is on.
"Yes, soon I promise," Hector is talking in the bathroom, "His wishes will come true!"
Kataleya is stunned, what was Hector talking about, but Kataleya just decides to sneak into the dining room.
When Kataleya arrives in the dining room, she hears someone behind her.
"What are you doing?" Rye asks tiredly.
"Oh," Kataleya says nervously, she has to lie. "I was just grabbing some food." She picks up a croissant, and takes a bite out of it.
"Ok." Rye says as he heads back up stairs. Kataleya waits until his room door is closed before she calls the elevator to ride it down to the lobby.
"Psst." Someone whispers, "Psst."
Kataleya immediately walks over to the potted plant from the night before.
"Hey there!" Kataleya says sitting once again across from Thio. "I had a feeling that you were waiting again!"
"Well I also had a feeling!" He smiles, showing his perfect white teeth. His hair is messy compared to his striped suit, but it makes him look good.
"I'm sorry," Kataleya says, looking down at her silky night gown under her cardigan she laughs. "I should have changed."
"No don't be," Thio says, grabbing her hands.
Kataleya smiles looking deeply into his blue eyes.
"I uh, brought you this." He reaches behind himself, and retrieves a box of chocolates.
"Oh," Kataleya says, trying to hide her excitement.
"I am sorry if it is too much," Thio cuts her off, "I brought these chocolates for myself, from my district to remember them. But then I wanted to give them to you, because" Thio pauses for a moment, thinking of what to say. "Well because I really like you!" He smiles, and looks at Kataleya with his blue eyes behind his messy brown hair.
"I love them!" Kataleya, says still looking at the chocolates.
Kataleya looks up to find Thio looking at her. He really likes me, do I? Kataleya thinks to herself.
"Um, I kind of need to go get some rest before training tomorrow." Thio clears his throat awkwardly and gets up, "So I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
"I like you too." Kataleya blurts out, suddenly. Thio looks down at her and smiles. "See you Kata!" He says happily as he walks away.
Kataleya is in awe, "He does really like me!" She whispers to herself, quietly.
As she hits the number 12 button in the elevator and rides it up to her apartment, she has this feeling that she hasn't had since before the reaping, happiness.
The elevator dings open, and Peeta sees his daughter walk out.
"Well where have you been," Peeta says, looking at Kataleya "it's a bit late don't you think?" He says looking at the clock up on the wall.
Kataleya understood that this was a rhetorical question, which was good because she did not know what to say to her father.
"So," Peeta continued, "What were you doing?" Peeta had a hint of anger in his voice, because he wanted to know the truth.
"Um well," Kataleya started.
"I want the truth, no excuses." Peeta's voice started to rise even though everyone else was asleep.
"I was," Kataleya paused, she tried to think of a reasonable excuse because her father would never understand the truth. "I went for a walk."
"In the middle of the night." Peeta says, in disbelief.
"Yeah, I mean I needed to get my mind of this whole situation." Kataleya said hoping her lie would work. "Its just been bothering me, and I have been scared."
"Oh, honey I did not know," Peeta says, totally falling for Kataleya's lie. "Just remember you can talk to me and your Mother if it is bothering you. okay?"
"Yeah." Kataleya says.
"Alright, you get to bed, goodnight." Peeta says, gesturing for a hug.
Peeta hadn't seen the box of chocolates Kataleya was holding, so she hid it in her cardigan as she gave Peeta a hug.
"Goodnight, get some rest!" Peeta says walking back into his room.
"Goodnight Dad." Kataleya replies.
As she walks up to her room, she has a guilty feeling in her stomach. She first lied to Rye, then to Peeta all just to meet up with Thio, this boy that she just met. But he was kind of cute. Kataleya thought to herself.
"Well I just told a white lie, I am scared about the Hunger Games but I didn't include the me and Thio part." She says to herself quietly.
Kataleya gets into bed, and as she draws the covers over her she is surprisingly excited go to training tomorrow but she has no idea why.
